PLEASE DONT ASK ME TO POST .APK....IT WILL BE CONSIDERED WAREZ
so ive been waiting for a while to get my hands on this and i finally did. just wanted to share with everyone that it does work on our device. first installation is really buggy, but upon reboot, it seems to be much smoother. does slow down other home replacements while its running though.
the interface is nice, as to be expected. ive only been using it for about ten minutes. it lacks a lot of features that the popular launchers do. my biggest complaint is that there is no way to delete a screen as is, the screen will only dlete once youve manually removed all shortcuts/widgets from it. this proves really annoying because when you first load the app it loads alllllll your apps onto screens. so mine loaded 13+ screens full of icons the first time. BUT THERES NO LAUNCHER DRAWER!!! so i have to figure how to have quick access to all my apps without having 20 damn screens
ill update this OP as i experiment more, and more screenshots when i find cool things. possibly a video (shootme videos come out really laggy)

this is a beta. it causes some serious lag (for me at least) while running in the background. im gonna have to search the net for tips and tricks. i must be missing something because it just seems way to basic for a premiere home replacement
yeah, I signed up for the beta when it was 1st announced. Not really digging the look of it. Seems REALLY hmmm whats the word.... bunched up and bloated maybe? Would look good on a tablet, but not sure about a phone

well, for you SPB nuts, at least you know its out there and runs on the vibrant
maybe it is because you have 125123 apps
Why when i use flickr widget, the launcher crashes? and i have any gallery widget with my photos,..

what is because of that? lag?
sorry big guy, but no other homereplacement ive used has ever lagged. period. my phone is always butter.
if you are referring to the number of screens that it creates. well obviously its because of how many apps i have. but it shouldnt be that way. it should be like any other launcher, with an app drawer. this isnt the iphone.

i sure hope its not released until it is optimized more, and they add some features.
i was reallllly looking forward to trying it out, and once i got my chance, it was a 15 minute affair until i uninstalled it completely.
obviously you wont be satisfied until you try it out for yourself
I have the beta as well, had to sign a contract not to share the .apk, screens, or even details of the app. These guy's are serious about this shell, I'm in another beta of theirs that I didn't even sign up for, and there wasn't nearly as much effort to keep that one as confidential. Just don't want your buddy gettin in trouble. I have yet to submit a review with suggestions, but I plan on doing that soon. This launcher has a lot of potential, but like you said it's very lacking in a lot of areas. It's especially a pain if you have a lot of apps. Just keep in mind, it is an early beta. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd be happy to include them in my review.

Introduction:
This is a port from the HTC MyTouch 4G Slide (DoubleShot) for public consumption on the HTC Evo 3D (Shooter). I have spent over two weeks working on this and have already bricked one Evo 3D in the process. I've made this ROM because I used to use Zenulator's ZenEXP ROMs on the Hero CDMA, I also made a MyTouch 4G port for the OG Evo for the same reasons. I guess I just like MySense way more than the original sense.
By the way, As far as I know, This is the FIRST device port for the Evo 3D! Just wanted to throw that out there.
Disclaimer:
By flashing this ROM you agreee that you do so at your own risk. Neither I, nor anyone else is responsible for what you do. I have made every attempt to make this ROM stable enough to use daily (IMO) however, your mileage may vary!

Not Working:
As of now the following are not working in order of my priority to fix them:
-WiFi (Turns on but doesn't connect to WPA)
-MMS
-Camera
-Camcorder
-Image resizing (WVGA to qHD)
-3D (Recognizes 3D pics but forces you to convert to 2D)
-WiMax
-Maybe a few others...
Working:
As of now the following has been tested to be working by me only:
-SMS
-Calls In/Out
-Data
-5-Button Rosie
Credits/Thanks:
-Chubbzlou for the original DoubleShot port on the OG Evo
-Zenulator for ZenEXP on HeroCDMA
-wdfowty for helping me get this thing deodexed
-myn for the inspiration to share and accept input from everyone
-dsixda for his amazing kitchen which without I would have never even began to learn this stuff
-911sniper and football for their RUU leaks
-Virus for porting damn near everything to the OG Evo (I beat you on this one buddy!)
-HTC and T-Mobile for creating such an interesting and functional overlay
+Anyone else I forgot to mention...
Add-ons:
-None for now

swell job i will def check this out soon. Btw the 3d shouldn't be hard. Just transferring a couple files and the 3d camera. Most likely libs. Next ported it before so i wouldn't know but i know the api's are open sourced
Good job bro. Let us know if there is anything you need. I think chubbz got it booted too.

YES! You're screen will look strange. Look at the screenies in the OP. Just rosie and some other framework dependent apps are not properly sized. I've tested all the apps and the majority of them work flawlessly.

I'm hoping that the images I need are in our 3D stock rom. If they aren't then I'll have to use what little graphics design skills I have to modify them. All in all it should be relatively easy, just time consuming. Since I work nights at a place where I can't really use my computer I have to rely on my days off (Mon & Tues) to get a good chunk done. I'll be trying to get it going tomorrow once I wake up but theres no telling what all I have to do tomorrow afternoon.
I appreciate everyone input so far and want everyone to know that you guys that post here are the only reason I'm still here. XDA has really gone downhill lately with the ridiculous "Operation Iron Fist" and certain reasons behind denying "Recognized Developer" applications. I'm currently awaiting their reply to my appeal and if they maintain that I'm not worthy of said title while others that abuse it are then I'll be taking my work elsewhere. If you're curious as to what being denied looks like (which I feel should be public knowledge since HTC does the exact same thing) then shoot me a PM and I'll forward you my rejection letter.
Once again, thanks to all the users because without someone to use the ROMs, there is no reason to develop it in the first place.
Good job, I have been waiting for this, I remember when Virus Mytouch Port give me like 18 to 20 hours of battery(for me it was Sense best baterry life ROM) looking foward to this ROM!

i feel your pain brotha, i got buddys that are devs that let me know all about the ways of the xda. Not a good convo we have lol
But roms like this are what make me regret leaving the OG evo. idk if its just the Qhd issues on the 3D or that not enough devs but its starting to weigh on me.
Yeahuhhh!!!!Finally something different !!!good job bro!!
This ROM looks great! I wont use it because of the stuff not working, but if you are able to get MMS, camera, camcorder, and WiMax working then I most definitely will use it. You are on the right track and this looks like a GREAT start. Love your dedication.
Congrats. I was working porting it over let me know if you need help.

I'm pretty sure its dependent on the Espresso framework. You might be able to get in touch with JsChiSurf on the OG Evo forums and he might be able to port it over. It's a way too complicated for my skill so I'm not even going to try.

So I have been poking around here while I waited for my membership to be approved. Just wanted to pop in and say hello. My Hubby just got me this phone for my b-day and I love it so far. This is my first smartphone, but I have watched him to amazing things with his incredible(he wont give it up until this phone gets unlocked). I was just wondering, when it is unlocked, will anybody be making a pink theme? I would love to get him to put that on my phone if anyone makes it. Thanks.
On a side note, they had this really weird video I had to watch before I signed up here? I thought it was really in bad taste. Anyone else agree? I mean, I'm sure things get a bit busy and hectic around here(as is proved by my husband spending countless hours on here), but no need to be rude to us that are new and wanting to learn more about this stuff. I dunno, take my opinion for just that, an opinion. Although glad I saw it when he wasn't around, he would have went bonkers and insisted I stay off here.
Anyways, hope someone will make a pink theme. Fingers crossed.
indeed. pink will go well with the car.

Hi Flower.
Happy birthday! If you want a pink theme, (or a million others) D/L something like ADW-EX Launcher along with Beautiful Widgets. (pink neon clock is cool) Then you'll pretty much have complete control of your entire user interface. After installing, you can go back & D/L all kinds of lady fonts, wallpapers, etc. You don't need root or unlocking for these either. Advice: if you're new to these, make only 1 change at a time. ADW is powerful & there is a learning curve. But before you know it, you'll have your phone looking like you dropped it in Pepto Bismol!
I'm not familiar with the weird video or waiting for membership approval. There're good & bad on all forums. Just ignore the bad. Welcome to the dark side.
Happy belated and you should get up with one of the female Devs and ask them or a nice male one. But im sure no one will have a problem with it eventually.
=]
Wow. I went ahead and checked out that video. I don't like it much either. Gives a bad feeling about the community in general. I wouldn't think about it too much though. Since this is a fairly new phone, there are bound to be questions and problems that haven't been covered yet.
If it comes down to it, I'll work on a pink, theme for ya when we get root. Gonna be working on a red theme on mine too. And I'm sure my wife will get this when here upgrade is due, so two birds and all that. I'm not a real heavy themer like a few of the devs on here, but I'm sure I could get something going to hold you over till someone big steps in. Did it for my incredible before I upgraded and for my wife's incredible.
Welcome and happy bday.

Aww, thanks guys. Well if the video doesn't bother too many people then I guess it's just me. Wow so many responses. Umm...
voxigenboy-I really like the car.
hellcatrydr- I'll have to have my hubby show me the stuff you are talking about with themes. If you can do so much without this root stuff, what can you do with it?
blestsol-Which devs are females? And how should I contact them?
cvbcbcmv-Uh, not sure how to read your post. Happy about the video or being sarcastic? Cuz you said pretty much what the video said. Not sure.
Comicazy-That would be great. What kind of stuff did you do with your incredibles? Did you post it for others to use? And I share your view on the video.
Thanks again guys.

I did post it. Not sure if anyone used it though. I called it dragonbread. Mostly I just chang the 3g icon to say 4g and made it red along with making anything I could in red on the status bar. And I changed the lock screen sliders to dragon sliders. Changed a few other icons too. Don't remember everything. Nothing as extensive as some of the themes I have seen others create. Word around the forum is we're getting closr to breaking this thing. So hope full soon we can get cracking on this for ya.

Yea, I have seen more childish words and behavior on this forum in the last couple days, than I get from my four and five year olds at home fighting over a toy. All over a phone? I don't think I'll ever understand the big fuss that causes these arguments. Why can't everyone just get along and find something useful to talk about?
Oh and thanks for the link to those themers and stuff. I will try to talk to them and see what they can do.

Its funny that when I first bought the phone alot of people on Xda were saying how slow and laggy it was and I was starting to regret my purchase but a couple of weeks later and im thinking to myself how fast my phone is. I disagree I went from the Skyrocket and my Note was a lot slower and really laggy. I just swapped my Note for another one today and WOW this new one I got today is totally different. It is just as smooth and fast as my Skyrocket. If anybody is having performance issues you need to get it swapped out ASAP you will wish you had sooner.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
That's not really so funny.
I also came from the Skyrocket and initially thought the Note was fast. Than I came on Xda and alot of user were reporting on how slow their phones were. Than I started noticing lag every where. Now after not thinking about it for awhile I dont notice the lag anymore. So my point is that by others saying how bad it was I started seeing the same0, whether it was there or not.

I have the note, although it is the international version.
When I first got it, it had just a little lag here and there. I don't use touchwiz, I use go launcher. I've had 4 updates, now at 2.36, LB2 and this last update (got it Thursday night) made this thing smooth with ZERO lag. Even scrolling apps in the app drawer, which, would lag for maybe 1-2 flips, then smooth out, is smooth as
silk with zero lag.
I lost root some time back, so it isn't a root issue, but perhaps on the at&t version it has to do with the bloat apps that run all the time?

okay not bashing here so dont take this wrong but I'm just trying to wrap my head around this statement, so you pay $300+ for your device but dont expect stock ROM performance to be any good?...seriously? I dont understand why someone wouldn't of course, and if it did underperform (mine runs fine) as a consumer you have every right to take it back. I think alot of people lose sight of the fact that it's still a PHONE that can now do amazing things that you would not have had the luxury of just a few short years back. And granted, the awesome development we enjoy through these forums does improve quality and enjoyment value of these devices to the point of maybe spoiling us as advanced users, but remember the vast majority of consumers of these devices are typical users and to them (and me) the Note on GB/Touchwiz although not a perfect machine is still an amazing device right "out of the box".

It is an amazing device but the Carrier$ load it down with u$ele$$ and unnece$$ary $oftware to $queeze more money from you. In the process the Bloatware DOES in fact hinder the performance as they run even when you don't launch them yourself. By getting rid of the bloatware you are unleashing the true potential of this beast of a phone.
Think of it this way... If you bought say a Subaru WRX STi and when you went to go pick it up and it had a bunch of useless Car Dealer stickons and random crap that hindered the performance, you are saying you wouldn't be upset ?

In the process the Bloatware DOES in fact hinder the performance as they run even when you don't launch them yourself. By getting rid of the bloatware you are unleashing the true potential of this beast of a phone.
Think of it this way... If you bought say a Subaru WRX STi and when you went to go pick it up and it had a bunch of useless Car Dealer stickons and random crap that hindered the performance, you are saying you wouldn't be upset ?

Very true. I'd probably be using an iphone if it weren't for the DEVs here. Sad that we need them to unlock the full potential of our devices. We also get better support from them than the companies that make them. A great example of that is the HP Touchpad.
Support your local DEVs. I do so by adding to their beer/coffee funds. Coffee is better as it keeps them up longer to work on things

I just got my beta invite to download and have been playing around with it for a while to set it up. I am not all that impressed right now, but hopeful they can bring it. Has anyone else got the beta yet? What do you think so far?
The pros:
Very pleasing to the eye
Smooth
Widgets at the forefront
Dock shortcuts change a you change screens
The cons:
App drawer is not alphabetical (actually only Play Store is first then alphabetical)
No Android widgets!
Only their wallpapers
Can't rearrange home screens
Gmail widget only shows unread emails
Weather widget is not interactive
Can't use inverse logic in context for locations, time, or wifi
No folders
That is my first impressions based on the current release. With the ICS update, I have actually really liked Touchwiz launcher (believe it or not). I'm not sure chameleon would be my launcher when competing with Touchwiz and Nova.

You have to get the email letting you know you can register if you already pre-ordered.

Was about to pull the trigger on this one, but been reading and some people seem discontent so I might as well wait...but then again it's 10$ as a pre-order. How much do they think they can charge and get away with?? I'm no cheapskate but 10 seems a bit much for a launcher...makes me wonder how much it'll be when released?
Incompatible
I have a Glaxy tab 10.1, and have get the download link to get Chameleon Launcher, but I get the error messenge "This app is incopatible with your Samsung GT-P7500"
What can I do so i can get it?

Honestly, at this point I would wait. With no wallpapers or widgets except for theirs, I would wait to see how it turns out. I'm not even using it right now.

You need ICS or Jellybean. It's not compatible with Honeycomb.

Hm, ok. How can I fix it, can you help me?
Anyone have an idea how long it takes to get access?
Yesterday evening I paid the 10$ to get access and got this email:
Please note: Beta Verification emails will be sent out over the next few days so you can unlock the beta version of Chameleon from the play store. This verification process will pair your pre-order email to your play store email. Thanks for your support and understanding

I purchased mine Wed. night, got that email right after.....today I got my email to register......pretty plain right now but can see it to be quite assume down the road.....
its okay. i didnt like it much. The widgets are very limited. It should be native for every app. Seems slow but then again its a beta. hopefully, will see more improvements in full version.

You need to update your software. I'm guessing you're still on 3.1 because I was mistaken. It is compatible with Android 3.2 and up.

None of the current apps will work because they made a bold decision to develop on a HTML5 environment. It was though that they could get more developers to work on new Widgets if they did this. Only time will tell. They may have rushed the beta though, it really needs a few more apps for users to really test it out and find software bugs in the interface. As opposed to hardware incompatabilities.
They may have gone with the beta now because the interest was peaking and if they left it much longer the interest would start to fade.
I like the concept and it has a lot of potential, they may be pricing themselves out of the market. Their are other good launchers for significantly less. I am one of the beta users though.

if that comes true. that sux . The widgets they offered in the beta. I was only interested in only 1.
Too bad it doesn't have facebook in the beta
I love the concept though.
What I do have it that my tablet goes back to my stock launcher and I always have to restart Chameleon. How do I fix this?
Until they add more Widgets, I'm not going to be using it.

Did anybody else make the switch to it? For 15 dollars, it's not a bad idea.

Runnin the pro with media center. Its ok. Nothin special. It was cool for 10 minutes after i installed it.
You either love it or hate it.
I'm using it now, and at first when the developer preview came out, I absolutely hated it.
The more and more that I use it, I started liking it.
I've been using it since it came out officially, and it's pretty good.
As long as your laptop/computer manufacturer puts out the proper drivers for Windows 8, it's great.
Acer released the trackpad driver for W8 for my laptop and I love the quick shortcuts. (Swipe from left to change Apps, Swipe from top to show quick options, swipe from right to get sidebar.)
It's pretty nice, although, I wish I had a touchscreen.
Sorry for the really long post, but if you have questions about it, I'm willing to answer them. Been using it for a long time..
I tried it, hated it. Microsoft needs to stop trying to shove a touchscreen OS onto my desktop.
It's a great tablet interface but very very terrible for a mouse and keyboard.
If Microsoft would have just added an option to disable metro they would have avoided a lot of the negative press and I would be all over it.

I paid the money for it. It's just Windows 7 with a better task manager and file transfer dialogs. No complaints here.
I still prefer linux. I just have to have a Windows box for work related stuff. I don't understand everyone's complaints about the new start menu. I hardly use it.
I use it at work. Gets annoying at times where some things are hidden a little more than before, otherwise it is smooth and looks very nice even on an old Dell tower.

I switched. Took a lil getting used to, and I'm still running into glitches, but I love the interface.

Who uses screensavers anymore? Monitors turn off now and save more power that way.
But you're right. They are looking tired. Flying Windows ftw.
I go from my Pad to my laptop and keep hitting the screen, lol
New touchscreen would be nice.
But I'm tired of buying new expensive software every time a new OS came out. Like MS Office Pro 2010(mainly now only for Word and Outlook) and Quick Books Pro 2010, MS Expressions, Photoshop CS, etc. Almost two large not $15.
I'm not comfortable with backwards compatibility issues. And the potential of any learning curve into a new OS.
I've been using it for a while on ma laptop, since it was available on MSDN. The biggest flood is lack of Start menu. Start8 from startdock was pretty handy. One irritating thing, Iron browser could be set as default browser, at least not in 100%, but maybe that's problem of browser it self. Didn't try with other browsers. I found it more irritating than helpful.
Eventually I've rollback to Windows 7, I had some software comparability issues that couldn't be workaround.

Yep I'm actually thinking of going back... you would think that when they release the newest version they should have most of the kinks ironed out, but that's just not so. I have a lot of programs force closing left & right, and repeatedly do so at completely random times. Also got a couple BSODs the other day. But I really like the new interface so is a tough decision. I use a 120 gig SSD as my boot drive, so running 2 operating systems side by side is out of the question...

Everyone is pissed off about the lack of start menu but in my opinion if you are using W8 on a desktop and you don't have a tochscreen monitor you will not enjoy the W8...just saying
I purchased a Acer tablet W500 on Walmart.com for $350 came with Windows 7 I upgraded to Windows 8 for $14.99 I could not be happier. Windows 8 is amazing. Definitely built for touch screen it's like having an iPad and a full PC all in one for a lot cheaper in price! I recommend installing Windows 8 clean install with a USB flash drive installs in less than 10 minutes
