i have a question, i paid cricket to fully flash my droid 2, but i still dont have market access and it still says verizon on phone info. So is it actually fully flashed or just unlocked? Also, i tried to put a rom on my droid 2, the gummybear rom, and it put my phone into a bootloader mode and almost bricked it. i have the following apps: any cut, Astro, Droid 2 bootstrap, ES file Explorer, Rom manager, and the Z4root. Is there anything i am missing to upload a rom. Thanks
I'm confused do you have a D2 or a D2 G? This is the D2 Global section and it's the android development section at that. General is where you should be asking questions save development for development breakthroughs and etc. .

Is it possible? I've heard of one click root process, but I can't find that thread with the directions. If there is one, can someone link it for me? Thanks.

Search. It's a button, and I can confirm... it works.
Check the stickies in the dev section, everything is laid out right there for u, and one click works flawlessly ; )

There is also a sticky right here in general forum made by moonshadow.
Easy as pie.
And we don't have a sbf that gives us root anyway. If u sbf at all u r going to need to use the rooting methods again to regain root

Let's be clear. It's called Pete's Motorola Root Tools. ...and hyperlinks are your friend.
And just to clear some things up, SBFing has nothing to do with rooting. You don't SBF to root or root to SBF. One does not require the other.
SBFing means putting your phone back to a particular stock install which makes it no longer rooted. Hence, if you SBF to a stock image (2.2.2, 2.3.3, 2.3.4), you'll lose any root privileges you had and you'll have to re-root your phone.
SBFing requires having an application called RSDLite as well as a particular SBF image (Froyo - 2.2.2, Gingerbread - 2.3.3 or 2.3.4).
Rooting requires running an application such as Pete's Motorola Tools that allows you to have root access to your phone. This means you are unlocking the phone so you can perform various other functions, such as running Titanium Backup so you can backup not only applications, but the data associated with said applications. It also allows you to make other tweaks under the hood to help make your phone run better, such as running Zepplinrox's turbo charger scripts, adding the init.d hack to allow you to run various startup scripts when you reboot and last, but not least, it also allows you to flash ROMs on the phone.
Hopefully that clears some things up for you.
mods delete please delete thread thank you
You can upgrade to 2.3.4 via sbf for cm7 and cm9 or take the ota to 2.3.5 for eclipse rom. Voodoo ota root keeper does work I am not sure if an ota will take you to 2.3.4 or if it will go directly to 2.3.5 . And you should root with Pete's easy root. There is zergrush but that moves some system files that sometimes messes with custom roms. Also delete your backup of su in root keeper after upgrade before flashing rom at least on eclipse. I had a Droid x and got the x2 as a warranty replacement i was first excited then came to be dissapointed. Thankfully the dx2 forum is the best out there and we've got a few excellent devs.

Hi
Tomorrow I get my new Motorola Razr (GSM) phone.
It runs on Andorid 2,3,5
Systemversion 651.73.30.XT910.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU
Version 6,5,1-73_SPU-11-1-2
I'm gonna Root it via this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342567
Then I have downloaded Safestrap, and I will transfer it to the phone and install it, then I will make a backup of the stock rom. But if I update to an unofficial ICS, can I still go back to stock via my old backup? WIll the backup include my Android version aswell?
Is there something special I should know about flashing other roms, If they won't work, I can just use my backup, right?
And now my my biggest question, how am I going to do to Unroot my phonw in case I need the warranty?
First step is to read info provided stickys are at top of most sub forums also a search bar to which most questions are answered.
Have fun with new device read learn pimp enjoy.
Not development thread closed.

Hello XDA members!
I am a long time lurker of these forums... well since day 1 of the photon release.
Anywho, I have a photon on 2.3.5 :crying: like that isnt bad enough... Well I rooted my photon and installed Rom Toolbox Pro on my Photon and I was messing around with the app and saw you can change icons and stuff like that. I was messing around with it and then I was going to return back to stock theme and icons... well. I guess I forgot to do a back-up of the original theme.
So now my photon looks like a cheap knockoff because all the colors and everything dont blend well with the phone. So....
I was hoping anyone knows how to get it back to the stock theme and icons. Since there isnt any 2.3.5 SBF that I am aware of I cant just flash it back to stock...
Or if anyone has a back-up of their stock theme and would like to share, if possible.
Thanks in advance!
But if no one can help I dont really want to wait until ICS or somone godly dev unlocks this bootloader.
But theres not much that I can do.
Mistakes happen, but no worries. Your mistake is fixable.
I believe if you look in the Development Section, there is a {Locked} version of 2.3.5 that is flash able thru Bootstrap Recovery (the only Recovery option available for Locked users). It will bring you back to stock and revert anything you changed in ROM Toolbox Pro.
I may be able to make a Bootstrap flash able framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk that will also possibly fix your issue without having to flash the whole /system folder. No promises tho.
But definitely look in the Development Section. Peetr_ and and another Dev have made some very useful stuff for locked users.

Thanks so much man! I never messed around with bootstrap recovery so I didn't know that this was possible.
I use the Droid X icons. He's got most of them on his server. The stock batt,DX 3g,4g,1x,and i think wifi. If you email him the icons you need,he'll add them to the server.

I just got this phone today and would like to root it. I came from the (MyTouch 4g) thread and been using that phone over 1yr now. So if someone can point me in the right direction on where to go to do what I am asking I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey Pix3l Viru5,
I just started using this phone as well. Here's the thread with the videos I followed to root my device. It also has links to the software you'll need to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342567
Before rooting, I also installed the Motorola Tools as drivers for the phone. You can find those at http://www.mymotocast.com/
After rooting, you'll want to install SafeStrap. It's a different recovery that will allow you to safely flash ROMs. There's a basic tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847599
And the newest version of SafeStrap is linked to in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391900
I think this is the video I watched that showed how to install SafeStrap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8KOcnHJjHM
The ROM you choose will depend on which version of the phone you have (GSM or CDMA, also referred to as XT910 and XT912 respectively). If you're in the US with Verizon Wireless or Cellcom, odds are that you're using a CDMA phone, otherwise it's probably GSM. If you're not sure, you should be able to find other resources that will help show you which phone you have. Just make sure that you install the proper ROM for your phone.
Enjoy the Razr MAXX! Also, feel free to use the search tool provided by xda. It's quite handy!
And if you manage to brick your device, you only have yourself to hold accountable. Be forewarned that rooting can invalidate your warranty.
