Soooooooo I caved hearing that 2.2 would be out for the Streak and went and picked one up on AT&T. Thinking hacking it and putting a 2.2 ROM on there would be cake....after all I'm in IT. LOL yeah right. Anywho got no where with trying to get to 2.1 yet alone get to 2.2. So thought someone had to have a way to get ahold of an official Froyo for the Streak. So by using someone else's baseband version I was able to Dl the .pkg from Dell here: httpCOLON//mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A111100[/url]
Sooooooo wondering would it work if I DLed that then put it in the root of the SD card and renamed it to Update.pkg, booted the phone in fastboot mode then updated it via the Update.pkg? That can't work, right? That just seems to easy. Dieing over here to get ahold of an official 2.2 build so I can get my exchange to work natively for work. AT&T has now blocked my iPhone from getting on the network so I can't revert waiting for the formal OTA to come out.
I'm a newb when it comes to android (just got my streak 3 hours ago) and I tried what you have stated and was greeted to "FOTA Version Mismatch... Shutting down device in 30 seconds"
Did you flash the clockwork recovery ?
Search for a link to the QDL repair tool, once you get the driver loaded, it's a simple one click solution to getting 2.2
After that, just use any of the links here to download the 318 version, and then you'll have the updated 2.2, or after getting the base 2.2 (308?), just download DJ Steve's updated version.

Yeah ive flashed clockwork recovery and that is successful. Once I go into fastboot mode and do the update.pkg part it errors on the install.
just follow the steps in the thread "updating and downgrading your streak" i followed the steps to get the UK stock 2.1 rom.. then i daringly tried the OTA update and it worked like a charm. im now running the UK stock 2.2 rom thats rooted.
As I've said before:
I had this problem also....The only thing that fixed it for me was using the QDL Tool. It took my dead Streak with flashing light with God-only-knows what baseband and ROM sequence I had tried to a fully functioning, unlocked Streak with AT&T official 2.2 on an unlocked 00 baseband. From there, it was an incredibly simple flash to DJ Steve's 1.5.1 using fastboot. Then I was done. No clockwork, no recovery, no nandroid, no nothing. Just follow the instructions for QDL Tool. I'm serious.

are you also saying that it unlocked your phone? oO?
It flashes a pre-release of v2.2 with a generic baseband, not locked to a particular carrier. The Sim Lock is still in place, however, so the phone itself will still require an unlock code if it did before.
Does the QDL tool work the same on a white Streak?
Thanks!

Yes. Just follow http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92
Here is some more to read through:

Worked just fine for mine just make sure that when your done go throughand calibrate your screen! I couldnt unlock my phone or answer calls until I did this... I spent two days trying to figure out the issue. So I figured I would let you all know
It is simple to so: Just power off your streak, when you turn it back on hold both the volume up and down buttons until the screen pops up, select calibrate and the phone will do the rest...

Worked a treat on my white Streak. I upgraded to 2.2 with the QDL tool, then to Steve's froyo. Now I'm running 318 stock.
If you want to upgrade to 318 from QDL tool, download the froyo recovery and the pkg from here http://www.4shared.com/dir/2CA8GTwx/Dell_Streak.html
That's the only way I could get it to flash 318.
I'm still confused as to how I go from 308 to the 318 on a white Streak. On my black one I could just d/l the 318 pkg from Dell - I don't think that'll work on a white one. How can I use the QDL tool to get to 318?
Many thanks!

To be 100% honest, I dont know "How" it works, but QDL Tool just did it I really didnt care to much, being that it worked and now my phone can get the no-att update which is cool because it has tethering and no bloatware. And all I can say is that it worked on my white Streak with no problems other than the screen calibration.. I even upgraded to Steves 1.5.3 and decided I didn't need all the superuser stuff and found the correct link to get the OE Dell upgrade and it worked without a problem doing the OTA upgrade.
I am also running the Dell 318 software; however, I was able to upgrade using the OTA link.. I too used QDL Tool and upgreaded to Steves ROM, when I tried to use the OTA upgrade link on his ROM it would download, but not run.
So I reverted back to the pre-release version of 2.2 that QDL Tool has, and updated from there without a single problem.
NOTE: I wasnt able to use the link that was pre-programmed into the ROM, I used the following link: http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A110100 (It will work to upgrade any 00 baseband streak)
Just and FYI for future users or if you want to try a different ROM in the future

Okay... So you were able to d/l the Dell 318 update .pkg right to the phone after doing qdl? Maybe I misunderstood people, but I thought that white streaks had to use qdl to load 318 instead of pulling it off the Dell website.

I was yes, with the link I provided above was able to do an OTA upgrade to the release dell 318 package without complications. Just make sure you do it directly after using QDL Tool, while still running the pre-release version of 2.2, because it did not work for me when I was running Steves 1.5.3 ROM.

No problem at all! This was my first android mod, I was a die hard win-mo guy and decided to make the switch. So this process was confusing for me, being that I made it work I would try to help answer any questions others had.. So let us know if you get it to work properly!

Everything worked beautifully. I now have a black Streak and a white Streak running the Dell stock 2.2!
Its funny - I also was a long term WinMo guy, going back to my Cingular 8125 running WinMo 5.0. I looked at WinMo 7, didn't like what I saw or where it was going, so I decided it was time to make a move.

Yeah, I started with a sprint Mogul and it was down hill from there unlike you, I took a stab at windows phone 7. I sold my black streak here and bought the HTC Surround. The software was great and simple to use, however the hardware was very problematic. Hopefully after a few updates I may go back and try again As of now the White Streak is the device for me. I have to say there is nothing quite like it... Well glad it worked out. We shall see you around XDA!
I am on an AT&T stock streak I just bought (1.6), and EVERY SINGLE recovery I've flashed, after I hold the power and volume buttons, and select the second option, I just a black screen that is lit up. No buttons do anything, and it just sits there. as I said, it's EVERY recovery. The old clockwork, the new clockwork, the fixed clockwork on the forums, the alternate fixed clockwork, streakmod, and streakmod beta.
Well, the old clock work (1.5.4 or something) just goes nuts with the LEDs on the buttons and when I select something the screen just turns black. I know I'm doing everything right, when I install a recovery with fastboot, it says successful and everything. I just can't figure it out. Please, please help me.
Bump, I'm about ready to just take it back because 1.6 sucks so bad.
You can not just flash roms on your stock 1.6 streak, you need to change its buil first to 305, or 318, 319 or 322 because those roms were not meant for your phones build. Try following the instructions on streakdroid.com there is a guide there that will walk you thru.

I just got a Streak a few days ago as well. It isn't super easy to figure out what to do with this phone, since most of the information is on other sites, whereas with other android phones most of the info is right here on XDA. Basically, all you need to do is install drivers on your PC, then download and flash using QDL Tool. That will put you at 2.2, and from there you can install whatever you want, including different recoveries.
Check out streakdroid.com for tutorials.

There are a few upgrade/downgrade/recovery/rom threads in the development section. with decent instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112
I had Streakdroid 1.80.
Follow the directions above but only the last OC 1.6 to At&t 1.6
Make sure you have OEM recovery flashed. Streakmod etc wont work.
Put the 3 files on your current system. And the new rom on the SD.
Flash the boot.ing as instructed and then restart your current rom. After it finishes turn on development in the applications settings. Then reboot into recovery. Then install from update.apk this will install the new AT&T rom. If if fails flash boot.img again and repeat.
FYI: the new 340 does not look any different then the 318 or 170 for that matter.
DJ's roms are better and faster. But if OEM is your desire do this.
I'm on 2.2 318 and am trying to go back to stock 1.6 but after extracting all the system files to the sd, completing the steps for that and flashing the new boot.img- I can't get my Streak to boot fully into Android to apply the 1.6 update.... If I try to boot it sticks at the Dell logo, no animation, just the logo with all 3 soft keys lit. If I go into Recovery and try to apply the update, I get a signature verification failure error. I also tried a factory reset from Recovery but cannot get passed the logo.
I have done this a trillion times before without any issues. Why won't it cooperate now? I have one of the temperamental Streaks that only likes Official Stock ROMs. I get FCs and freezes out the whazoo on anything but so thats why I am going to Stock AT&T 1.6 and update to their 2.2...

Try using the repair tool that will put a 2.2 rom on it.
You don't have to go to stock 1.6. Just follow the instructions on your current system and it will let the new AT&T 2.2 install. I always to a factory reset before installing a new rom. That stops FCs for me.

Hi -
Could you be more specific on "OEM recovery"?
I have downgraded from 318 all the way back to US OEM 1.6 with BB of 31 which matches OEM version. Build number 6601. btw: I had to do a Nandroid flash to get it to 1.6.
It downloads the 340 update fine but gets hung up on the install process - stuck on logo.
Seems like I need to flash the right recovery but I always get a blank screen when I boot into recovery and choose update from SD card.
Can you link me to the right recovery file?
Thanks.

I do have a 2.2 rom installed already. I used the QDL tool to get it there so I shouldn't have to do it again... I tried updating to AT&T's new 2.2 yesterday from the 2.2 (318) I am currently on but it won't let me. I thought I had to go back down to 1.6 and get my update via notification but now my Streak wont get off the logo.
I hope this is making sense because from what you said, I don't think it does. Its hard to type what my problem is in a way that all can understand.
I am on Rogers and had the same problem. Was on 2.2 through QDL tool. I got an email from Rogers that their official 2.2 update was now available.
Downloaded the update, it wouldn't install.
Probably because baseband is different?
Anyway, did the same thing, tried downgrade back to O2's 1.6, then hopefully AT&T's 1.6, but got stuck after getting down to 2.1. Black screen during update.pkg, Dell logo only when just doing a normal boot.
Tried loading 1.6, 2.1 Rom's again to no avail.
Managed to get the phone working again using the QDL tool to get back to 2.2.
Tried doing the Rogers update again, but not working.
Help!

I can't get mine to boot normal unless I use the QDL tool to pull it out of the logo screen. If we already have a US Basdeband we shouldn't have to upgrade to O2 and back down again, right?
What do the people, like myself, do who are on the 2.2 318 via QDL Tool build to get the AT&T 2.2 rom released yesterday?? I am already on a US AT&T rom so what sense does it make to have to upgrade to an O2 rom and go back to AT&T (I am thinking out loud...).
I don't want Steve's ROM or anything else... my phone does not play well with those. I want the new official 2.2 released to AT&T locked Streaks.

I finally bought root Explorer from the market. If there is a free alternative that can change your /system file to r/w (read/write) I could not find one.
You [email protected]!!!!!!!!! (no other alternative, dont think you are smarter than anybodye else, is non-negotiable) to move the 3 files over into your /system file, because the update will not go through. It says there is a "device mismatch" (or something like that). I tried to short circuit all the processes at every step and was unable to beat the system.
Heres what ya gotta do:
1. Follow the part about downgrading to 1.6, then check for software update.
If you have upgraded to ANY other version of 2.2 ya gotta move the 3 files over.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...92&postcount=4
Finally I gotta say that it is not worth all the fuss really. You lose tethering and installing outside apps. You gain nothing.
This release is best for djSteve, because he can take all the good parts of this build and put into his next release of streakdroid.

I hosed mine to a black screen that would not turn on.
The repair tool would not get it going.
I found streakflash I tried to get a link, I'll keep looking.
I launched steakflash.
I pulled the battery put battery and back on. As I plugged in the cable I held the UP volume button. Streakflash recognised it and I ran it through.
That got me back up. I forget what ROM it was. I then ran repair tool.
That puts 2.2 pre release.
If I can do it anyone can.

Follow the instructions and put the three files and the boot.ing on your 2.2 Rom.
Put the new update.pkg on the sd

Whats the malfunction with this? I have always managed to update in the past. Why won't this one go through?
First off I did quick scan of this post so if I am repeating I apologize in advance. You MUST go back to AT&T 1.6 with no Streakmod or Clockwork need Dell recovery program. 340 does a scan as it loads and if finds you modified the Steak in anyway stops the install. I had to purchase Root Explorer to complete my conversion, only thing I can say is Root Explorer is worth the money, as for 340, if you are running Steve's ROM with no problems stay with it. Here is the link to the instructions I used, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8558692&postcount=4, good luck.

I could not be more serious right now when I tell you mine would not work that way... I had to go from 318 2.2> O2 2.1> O2 1.6 and am FINALLY booting into AT&T 1.6 as I type. A lot of people have Streaks that aren't able to do as yours did, mine is one of them. I don't know if its because my Streak is an older one, I bought it in August, or what the deal is but I was not joking!
All is well though. I have finally gotten it back to Stock AT&T 1.6 with my original baseband of 31. Now I shall see if I can go to the new AT&T Froyo...

Good luck.

my phone says.
android version 2.2
baseband GAUSB1A131800-us
kernel 2.6.32.9-dj_steve-BFS-CFQ-KGSL2D-Vol-OC
oem version Froyo V1.6.0 by DJ_Steve
Just not sure where i should go to get back to stock.
thanks
Get the version of the ROM you want and put it on your SD card. do some searching and you will find a link where someone has them.
Next flash the recovery for the same version of the ROM. There is a tool called multirecovery or something like that. Use the tool to do the flashing. Again there is a thread with instructions.
once you have flashed the recovery then boot inot the recovery and install the ROM. To do this power up and hold down the volume buttons just when the Streak sgarts to boot up. Once in recovery, make the selection to update.

That should give you a good head start. From the ROM link, I'd download either the 345 or 351 ROM, because that way you don't have any AT&T restrictions such as sideloading and tethering.
Thank you guys. I will give it a shot.
