Hi Guys,
I lent my old Hero to a friend and they stuck a passlock on it. annoyingly they now say they can't remember what it is. So I've been trying to figure out what they set the passlock as, would have been something pretty easy I thought as they aren't that clever! Still can't seem to get it.
So I thought I'd go into the boot menu and try to restore the phone. Remove the battery and then turn the phone on by holding the power button and home button but I get this screen http://grab.by/9dYe which is giving me a bad feeling.
Is there any other way I could wipe the phone?
Thanks,
Charlie
Ok, from reading another thread I'm wondering if it's possible to place the newest RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622 in a .zip files named HEROIMG.zip in the root of the SD Card. I can then hold the Volume Down button on boot and use hboot to flash the phone with the new rom.
Is this correct?
Here's a video of me attempting to install the RUU via hboot.
To be honest I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. My device still has a passlock on it, so I can't run the .exe on my computer because the phone can't sync.
hmmm... as seen from the video, You can get into fastboot menu and connect your usb to the PC. then run Your RUU exe. Have you tried that? Does a passlock lock the exe from doing it's job?
You said
the phone can't sync

Why do you need sync? if you have drivers on your pc, then the rru.exe should do it's job...

I have an HTC Mogul that I am trying to flash over to a custom ROM. Unfortunately I got a little too gung ho and didnt flash the radio over, so now the phone freezes at the HTC splash screen on start up. I have tried flashing it back to a carrier rom or even another custom rom but it gets to the loading bar and then fails out. Have tried flashing from the SD card but every image i put on there says that there is no valid image on the card.
I have looked high and low for an answer to my problem but have had little to no luck anywhere.

Unlocked bootloader -> Custom ROM -> GPS Radio -> Boot
So as long as your bootloader is unlocked (olipro 2.40, no2chem 2.47) then go ahead and flash the Custom GPS ROM you want to use on there. Then flash a GPS Radio I use 3.42.40 and yes I have tested all the others. Then to be totally sure might as well hard reset and pull the battery for a few.
Edit: Tip I figure everyone needs to read. If flashing using RUU method (exe, or utility through usb cable) make sure you dont have a Memory card in the phone. That ensures no problems will arise like bad flashes.
If using microSD card then make sure its not plugged in while flashing. Card must be 2gb and under and be formatted fat 32, image must be named TITAIMG.nbh and be the only thing on the card, no files or folders but the .nbh
Also check in your Computers files and folders settings and make sure you have it selected to Show File Extensions. That way you know the files are getting named and assigned correctly.
The problem I am having right now is the bootloader seems borked. It will not load any files. any that i put on the card it flashes up quick and says no image file found and then back to the bootloader screen and if i try usb it goes to the point where the progress bar comes up and then errors out. Is there a way to flash the bootloader without loading into WM?

What bootloader is on there now? You should of already mentioned this in your first post, let alone your second..
Also what size memory card are you using, I hinted at that already too.
Yeah that would help
Here is what is at the top of the Bootloader:
TITA100
SPL-1.07.0000
CPLD-9
I am using a 2 gig card, tried with a 1 gig it would get the to loading screen and freeze

Yea you messed up, you need to flash an unlocked bootloader from a functioning WM. There are ways around it and to get out of your jam.
Tell me what the phone does after unplugging it, removing the memory card, taking the battery out and letting it sit for a couple minutes. Put only the battery in and turn it on.
I need to know if it tries to boot the OS and gets stuck or if it goes to bootloader automatically.
it tries to boot to WM, goes to the HTC logo and then freezes, i still have to hold down the camera button to boot into the bootloader

Thats not how you get into bootloader on a Titan.
Manual Bootloader mode on a Titan = Power Button + Camera Button + Reset Button (hole next to memory card slot) for a couple seconds then release.
Ok now next information that you forgot to post. What HTC Mogul is it P4000, VX6800, PPC6800, or other variant. What carrier branding is it, like what stock ROM was originally on there. Sprint, Verizon, Qwest. Exe.
I need to know this as well so we are not just trying things to you get it. I want to write you a walkthrough that hits the nail on the head.
PPC6800
Old Carrier was USCC
and it may just be this version but to get into bootloader I have just been holding down camera then at the same time holding down power holding it for a few seconds then releasing the power and it goes into BL
1: Download the following files from my HTC to Windows Unlock Tools directory. Download the Titan_Relocker.exe, a GPS radio of your choosing, and the titan_spl_olipro240.exe.
2. Now make sure you have Active Sync 4.5 installed first then the HTC windows drivers installed second (from my HTC unlock directory on my share site). Now install both of those and restart the computer, start from a fresh PC. Now disable the Active Sync usb connections just right click the Active sync icon on your PC's taskbar. Pick connection settings and then look for the Box with Allow USB connections. Clear the box (disable) the usb connections.
3. Take out the storage card and now manually put the phone into bootloader "power camera reset" and then plug the phone into the PC using a MAIN port built into the Motherboard (no hub, no front usb panel). Now use Winrar, or 7zip to extract the contents of the Titanrelocker.exe into a folder. You will then see the ROMupdateutility.exe and ExitBL.exe with a bunch of other files. Ok now Run the ROM update utitlity.exe from the extracted folder and let it flash The Stock SPL. When it is done follow the prompts on screen. Now if it reboots back to olipro bootloader then run the Exitbl.exe and soon as it reboots wait till after the first splash screen and Unplug the phone.
4. Now manually put the phone into bootloader "power camera reset" (so it restarts and goes back to bootloader). Now we are going to flash the Olipro 2.40. Use Winrar, or 7zip to extract the contents of Olipro 2.40.exe into a folder. You will then see the ROMupdateutility.exe and ExitBL.exe with a bunch of other files. Ok now Run the ROM update utitlity.exe from the extracted folder and let it flash Olipro 2.40 When it is done follow the prompts on screen. Now if it reboots back to olipro bootloader then run the Exitbl.exe and soon as it reboots wait till after the first splash screen and Unplug the phone.
5. Now manually put the phone into bootloader "power camera reset" (so it restarts and goes back to bootloader). Now you can flash a Custom ROM using RUU method or go ahead and use the microSD method.
a. You can use an RUU utility to flash the custom ROM while its still plugged in and in bootloader.
b. You can flash the custom ROM with a Micro SD card, just unplug the phone and put the card in and manually put the phone in bootloader again using power + camera + reset all at the same time for a second or two.
6: When the ROM is done installing you MUST flash a GPS radio version 3.35 and up if you are using a GPS ROM. If you use RUU method you have to perform a hard reset after flashing the radio. If you use the Micro SD method you do not have to Hard Reset.
Still it is a good idea to hard reset and then pull battery for a minute to make sure the page pool is set.
on #3 flashing it back to the stock SPL i get the same error as I have been getting, it goes to the progress bar on both the computer and phone, sits at 0% for about 30 seconds then the computer gives error 262
ok finally got it to respond to the SD card, but it has been sitting on a grey screen saying loading for a good 6 hours now, i have a feeling that this is going to take some low-level editing with mtty
This is what I know:
Battery Won't go above 30% as told by the ruu program.
Laptop registers my phone as a HTC Device.
Phone stuck in bootloader whenever it turns on.
Adb can't recognize my phone as a device.
Bootloader reads Relocked I relocked it because I wanted to return to stock.
I can navigate in Bootloader mode and go into each of the options listed.
When I charge phone it comes on with a red light and stays on through bootloader mode.
Not bricked.

Go ahead and run the RUU like this. Go ahead and start the installer. When it's all loaded up, press your Windows key + R together. That will bring up the run dialog. Type in this exactly: %temp%
This will open up your temporary directory. Find the folder that contains the file: rom.zip
Rename rom.zip to PG86IMG.zip and copy it to your SD card.
Make sure that your phone is plugged into wall power. Power on your phone (into the bootloader) and let it search the PG86IMG.zip file. Press volume up (+) to flash it.

Here is the story. my parent bought my brother the amaze 4g for his birthday. he was messing with it trying to root it and such and today he was trying to install a new rom and while it was installing he disconnected the cable, the screen is a black background with green arrows and a phone. I'm not familiar with this but when i press the power button and down button it says unlocked at the top. When i tried to install the stock rom it keeps coming up with no image.
Is there a way to fix this? Thanks in advance
Was he trying to make it s=off? When I did that on my phone that happened, and it is easy to fix. Ask your brother first, but if he was trying to get s=off, all you have to do is get the leaked ICS image from the dev section and flash it. Download the file from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615164&highlight=leak, rename it to PH85IMG.zip and put it on the external SD card, then boot into the bootloader and press the up volume button when it asks if you want to update. However, this only works on T-Mobile phones.
I tried that a bunch of times already but every time it starts checking and at the then it just says no image and goes back to H boot
Edit: It is a T-Mobile phone
Sorry, I just reread your original post, your bootloader has to be locked to flash the file, so boot into fastboot and run "fastboot oem lock" from your computer's command prompt.
I just tried it and it gets stuck on "waiting for device" and I don't know if it makes a difference but something happened with his SD card and my computer couldn't read it so I had to reformat it and its empty right now
If that doesn't work, I am not sure what can be done. I wouldn't think the SD card would matter, but make sure you formatted it as FAT32, just in case, and leave the zip file off of it, go into bootloader and use the volume buttons to go to fastboot, and click the power button to select it, then plug it into the computer. If it then says fastboot usb I would think the oem lock should work, but if that fastboot usb doesn't come up, there might be something wrong with the whole boot loader or something. Sorry I could not help any more.
I went into fastboot and connected the USB cable and it didn't change, it still just say fastboot highlighted in red
I have no idea what you could do to fix that, then. Again, I apologize that I couldn't help more, and I wish you the best of luck with this.
Thanks for trying to help anyway
edit
Adb debugging wasn't on I bet :banghead:
I don't get how he got in this position. I don't use a cord to install ROMs. If he were to unplug, I don't see what that would do except stop charging... Unless he was in disk mode and it caused a bad unmount and corrupted card.
I would try the steps above with a fresh sd card and it should work. Redownload the ics or gingerbread ruu and go through the steps.
He was in the process of flashing his phone with some rom he wanted but then somehow he accidentally disconnected the USB cable and it froze up. Now every time you turn the phone on, after the HTC screen it shows the picture that its being flashed (black background with green arrows going into the phone) so I can't turn the phone on at all but I do know that his phone had usb debugging on before he flashed it.
Ok so I found out he was actually trying to get S-off with some "wire trick" and he said at the beginning of the process the phone was restarting and he accidentally unplugged the usb and when the phone rebooted, it got stuck in the dark screen with the green arrows
This just means he needs to continue trying the wire trick. I was stuck at the screen too. I just kept running the program and attempting the wire trick until I got it right.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using XDA
I just tried the wire trick and it got all the way to counting 45 seconds and the phone keeps rebooting. So I tried to run the program again and now it says connect device and install drivers

i dont know what to say then :/ mabey the computer cant read the amaze
Since I can't get past the htc screen. The computer wont recognize that the phone is connected to it
I has a similar problem when trying to do s-off - try installing htc drivers again after plugging in the usb.
Hello i got a problem im not sure but i think i bricked my phone i dont really know how to expalin it either, well i want it to update it so i downloaded update from htc website for sprint but i think i had to download it for hero G2 with i found later so i installled it i had an error phone turned off now i cant do anything with it it wont turn on only vibrate 5 times? if i connect it with usb laptop wont see it i cant boot it or nothing but when i put it on charge it heats up? any ideas?
Sounds like a brick to me... Do you get any output on screen, what OS are you using on your PC, any response from it ?
nothing happens when i use usb cable and windows 7. Today when i was trying to turn my phone on again power on/off + home it vibrated 5 times?
Pull out your battery, plug it back in, hold POWER+VOL DOWN, and it sould take you to HBoot, if you cant do that then im very sorry and your phone is hard bricked...
i was wondering would that work?
How to flash stock ROM through SD-Card
*This only works with current stock ROM or newer version. Downgrading will fail till we have SuperCID. More about that in here!
1. Run the RUU and get the rom.zip from it. (Find it in here "c:\users\%usrename%\appdata\temp\")
2. Copy rom.zip to the SD-Card and rename it to PJ46IMG.zip
3. Put the SD-Card in the card reader.
4. Put the card reader onto the USB Y-Cable.
5. Plugin the USB Y-Cable to your One X.
6. Hold volume down and press the power button while keeping the volume down pressed. This will get you into HBOOT.
7. Wait a couple of seconds and you'll see that it finds PJ46IMG.zip
8. Follow the instructions on your screen =)

Biggest question is - can You go into fastboot mode? Because there is a way to flash Your phone is You can go into fast boot, and there should be a manual somewhere here, not using One X, but hero ;]
Let us know, does the phone respond by going into fastboot.
Additionaly : how did You downloaded firmware for sprint, as You should give IMEI number on HTC site.

Hi All,
I have an HTC One that is stuck in a bootloop and have no idea how to fix it.
Unfortunately, there was a screen lock and after failed attempts, it started to delete the data. Stupidly, I tried to reset the phone at this point. As a result, it is stuck in a bootloop.
I have tried holding power and volume down button, volume down button by itself, both volume buttons and still can't get it to fastboot screen.
I am using Mac OSX.
Also, nothing had been done to the phone prior to this. All stock.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You have a few options, though it would be helpful if you had access to a PC, because then you could just use the RUU program to set everything right. You will need to know which variant of the One you have as in from which carrier or region, if it is an international version, as well as the system update that it was on as you can not downgrade while stock. The phone will eventually reboot if you just hold the volume keys and power together for like 30 seconds.
Option 1) Find a Windows PC and download the RUU exe, put the phone in bootloader mode, and follow the directions of the RUU.
Option 2) Unlock the bootloader at htcdev.com, install a custom recovery such as TWRP, and use a custom rom to get going. (This one you should be able to do on a Mac - voids warranty if you have one)
Option 3) Find a way to extract the rom.zip from the RUU exe and use fastboot to flash it. (Might be able to do on a Mac, though not familar with it to tell you what tool you could use to extract files from an exe on OS X)

Thanks for replying.
It is the HTC6500L that was originally used with Verizon in the US. Not sure if it matters but it is currently unlocked and using Optus sim in Australia. I'm not sure what system update it was on
I am going to try and get it working on my Mac first but it is good to know that there are options for me with a windows PC.
So you say that the phone will eventually boot if I hold both the volume buttons and power button down for about 30 seconds?
The phone is currently off as the battery has drained. If I charge it, it automatically goes to the HTC logo and into the boot loop. In order to get anything fixed, I need to get to the recovery screen right?
