No, install both clicker and the keyboard file. Then change the input settings etc. Settings -> Language -> HTC_IME mod -> User interface -> Volume keys (after you installed it and changed input settings)

But then I have the customized black HTC keyboard, I don't want to change it to the default white HTC Keyboard. No other methods?

Hey guys,
I'm wondering, when I make a typo on my X10, how do I fine-select the text? I can tap, but it usually places the cursor at the wrong place and since we don't have a trackball: how do we fine-select (as in move the cursor 1 place to the left or right).
I tried the volume keys, but it doesn't work.. is it even possible?
Thanks in advance!
same issue
i have the same issue. i can get it prty close within a few charioteers ill just erase up to the point and re type ><
depends on the keyboard ur using i suppose. i use the standard android keyboard b/c it has the left and right arrows in the corner making it easier to tap on the line of txt that needs editing and then moving the cursor to the correct position ...
that's weird im using the default keyboard and i have no such arrows
The other option is that you can tap and hold your finger to drag the cursor left or right along the text. With a little practice, you can make this work very efficiently.

If you have the htc ime keyboard, you can go into its settings and set the cursor to be moved by the volume keys. I did this and its very helpful.

Thats odd, i cannot do that at all...
if using swype you can just drag the swype key onto the SYM key to bring up editing mode (they are both on the bottom left of the keyboard)

I am obviously being particularly dim tonight cos I can't find this. Where is it!?!?!
To use volume keys to move your cursor with the htc keyboard do the following....
Settings > Locale & Text > HTC_IME settings > User Interface > Volume Keys and select "Move Cursor"
OMGosh I knew it would be so simple. Thank you, I thought I'd opened everything and looked. Oh well it had been a long day! And its sooo cool too. Cheers.
Hi Guys,
Having an issue. Ive got a default ROM and i just dont have the voice input (Mic) on the keyboard even though its checked in the keyboard setting.
Any clues?
Hi,
I have the same problem: no mic button on my keyboard.
I have Omega 6 rom. I tried to change keyboard but could not find a way
to get the mic button. And yes it is checked in the keyboard setting.
Any ideas ?
Update
I downloaded Ultra Keyboard from the play store, installed it, went to parameters/language and input, chose ultra keyboard and got the mic button along
with the Ultra keyboard.
I then choose the Android keyboard (in the language and input settings), unchecked the ultra keyboard and ... tada got the regular android keyboard with the mic button.
Problem solved ! Still don't know why there was no mic button at first.
You can change the button's functionality by keeping it pressed and then selecting the mic button if you want on the stock keyboard.
Just long press the settings key on the keyboard (left of the space bar), and you will get the voice input key. The last selection will remain on that settings key.

Ok. Now i understand. try the following:
Solution 1
- Reboot to CWM recovery
- wipe cache partition
- wipe dalvik cache
- reboot phone
test if sound on key press works now.
If solution one does not work, then try the next one
Solution 2
- Go to Settings > Apps > All > Android keyboard, Clear data
- Reboot phone.
- Go to keyboard settings and tick the sound option
done
hi,
i am using the sektop mode, and i am really amazed how effficient it is.
i have one issue tho, the keyboard is read as qwerty and i am using azerty.
any idea where we can change this??? can t find it anywhere
thxxxx
also, is there a virtual keyboard somewhere that can be use?
there are shortcuts provided in physical keyboard settings - Keyboard shortcut helper, like search icon (magnify glass) + space will change the laguage, but I can't figure out how to do so. what key buttong for search?
you can use left Ctrl + Alt + Space bar and right Ctrl + Alt + Space bar to toggle between input languages,
as well as you can go to
Settings -> System -> Language and Input -> More input methods settings -> Physical Keyboard -> and chose the language for the keyboard.
hope my post help you
I know there's a setting, but there are only two options offered: Nothing or Open Camera
I'd love to be able to toggle the flashlight with the power button. Anybody know where the system file is that controls that? Would it be in build.prop?
Now, I know what I'm going to say it's not the solution that you're looking for BUT, I remember that OnePlus X had a default behavior for when you draw a V (I assume it reassembles a light coming our from a flashlight), so I used the same on OP N10. This option is available at Settings > Buttons & Gestures > Quick Gestures > Draw V
You can change this in framework-res.apk and its affiliates, change the integer text and remove impeding files. Cheers
