Has anyone come up with a conversion utility that would enable us to run free WP7 apps on WM 6.5.x phones?
After all, it is pretty much the same hardware, no?
If not, anyone up to the challenge?
Guess that won´t happen.
Too many, if not all, programmers have moved to Android - and WP7.

No, different operating systems. It would be like trying to run an android App in Windows 6.5.x.

Google on Tuesday announced that the full SDK for Android 3.0 is now available to developers.
"The APIs are final, and you can now develop apps targeting this new platform and publish them to Android Market," Xavier Ducrohet, Android SDK tech lead, wrote in a blog post.
Along with the new platform, Google said it is releasing updates to its SDK Tools (r10) and ADT Plugin for Eclipse (10.0.0).
In the ADT Plugin, Google had added: new palette with categories and rendering previews; more accurate rendering of layouts that will more faithfully reflect how layouts look on devices; selection-sensitive action bars to manipulate View properties; zoom improvements, including fit to view, persistent scale, and keyboard access; and improved support for "merge" layouts and layouts with gesture overlays.
Google also added Traceview integration for easier profiling from ADT and tools for using the Renderscript graphics engine.
More details are available on the Android 3.0 Platform Highlights page.
Google released a preview of the Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" SDK in late January to allow developers to start testing their apps on tablets. Earlier this month, Google also held an event in San Francisco to more formally unveil Honeycomb. It also unveiled the Android Market Web Store, a Web-based version of the Android app store.
The first tablet running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the Motorola Xoom, hits stores on Thursday.
uff
noooooo now that i need to send my folio to the assistance for the soundboard problem.... please you can wait sometime for build a release 3.0 for the folio??? ahahahahhaha
i confirm that on the android sdk is now accessible the platform 3.0 api 11, my best notice of the 2011 for now!
moved to general as not android development
Yeah! I've just readen this good news too on a news website!! So, does this mean dev's can start working on a 3.0 update for our folio's?
How long to get honeycomb on Folio?
I'm starting the count down right now
Now for serious, 2.2 is fine for me as long compatible apps keep coming to it. It will be needed a few months before We see honeycomb in full glory. I guess that there's a huge pression to get it right this time.
need this!
I realy need this for my Folio!

theres only one person who can do that at the moment and that is dext3r
What google has released is SDK, software development kit.
This is tools to build Honeycomb application, not Honeycomb itself.
For the Folio to get Honeycomb we will need a rom from a machine similar enough.
No such thing exists (yet).
Yes of course! SDK is only for software development, but is one first step toward a possible mod. Some tegra 2 tablets with similiar hardware specs will be launched this week, I don't think Xoom from motorola is that similiar.
One other option is to have source code and a set of compile options, and them try to build it from scratch.
I guess the main obstacle could be the drivers and hardware support. Must of these will have to be built from ground up and will take a considerable amount of time. I guess that it's feasible but to get a rom as polished as 1.4 we will still have to wait...
It's still good news though !
Thanks for explanation, now i'm so sedder but i believe somebody can do it
but how said "bastospn",this is first step to build new rom
well guys...
but any chance to have honeycomb working on folio?
whats the problem to port it to our deveces?
i got nexus one also and im trying the honeycomb release roight now....

1st, you need a full source from Google, not just a SDK like someone has already pointed out. 2nd, porting is not an easy job...especially when the target device has a bunch of difference hardware components than the reference device. If there's no compatible drivers, sometimes you need to spend days/weeks of writing drivers/ debugging...
What you have on your Nexus one I believe is just an emulator port and thus extremely slow

no,
on my n1 ive a full sdk porting really fast and stable, obviously with no phone connection at all...
resolution is the native one, so characters are really small on n1...but folio screen is wider...
look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961994
so guys...how does it look?
i'm so excited and waiting for it!
is possilbe to do it?
now i installed FolioMod but.that isn't Honeycomb!
Hey gang, first post as you can see.
I did a search to now avail, so I ask you: I am running cyanogenmod 7 stable release and when I try to download an app from the market that is intended for OS, say 2.1+ for example, my device from the dropdown is greyed out. So I cant install it. Is there some reason as to why if we are running 2.3, we can utilize apps from the market for that level of OS?
Thanks guys!

There sure is. As I understand it, there are several ways to develop apps for Android, and some apps can be written to require a higher level of the ARM processor than the Eris uses. In general, this would be for apps like Adobe Flash 10.x, which are processor-intensive and would likely make the Eris run too slowly to handle the performance required for that particular app. There are other apps like the SPB Shell 3D launcher, which benefit either from a faster CPU or a discrete graphics processor.
Ah I see, so is there a workaround to fool the market to allow such downloads, or is that all she wrote?
Either way, love the community here and love how much life has been breathed back into my Eris.
As of now honeycomb is pretty buggy when compared to gingerbread.HTC have done a great job with sense overlayed on gingerbread but I wonder will it be the same with honeycomb.well having said that HTC has a habit of surprising us in a good way.one more thing that I would like to add is whether the soft keys will still work in tandem with the honeycomb's persistent notification bar; if so that would be ridiculous.most probably they will be turned off.and lastly the version of honeycomb 3.1 or 3.2 - which one will the flyer get and when ?
Both the Gingerbread and Honeycomb tablets have their own advantages and shortcomings. First, let us take a look at Gingerbread OS. An update to the Froyo OS, the Gingerbread came with a better DSP Manager/Equalizer.
It was equipped with features like expanded cloud messaging and enhanced voice recognition, it also came for an SDK manager, speech recorder and an SIP VOIP for those who conducted their business via their phone. But the Gingerbread OS came short on the user friendliness count, it made people long to go back to the old Froyo OS. It also had an issue with its Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Honeycomb OS, on the other hand, is considered a specialized OS for tablets. It has enhanced features such as multitasking and switching features. It also provides 3D transition and Google features such as Google Maps 5.0, Adobe Flash Player 10.2 and the much anticipated Google Cloud.
The Honeycomb is made-to-order to work with the Google TV. It also provides a reader app similar to ibooks provided by Apple. The Honeycomb OS seems a good deal, but it comes loaded with some of its own shortcomings. There is a constant rumble on the net about the lack of Honeycomb apps and Voice Apps.
Already having conquered the market with the Android OS systems. Google keeps on reinventing its Operating Systems. Whether the Gingerbread OS or the Honeycomb is better suited for you, depends entirely on your requirements.
If you want no-frills computing, you should go in for the Gingerbread OS enabled tablets, but if you are an avid gamer or a tech geek, the Honeycomb would be a better option, as it has been created keeping an onboard graphics in mind and creates a great visual experience. -msn news.

I just want honeycomb for the movie studio app. So my opinion is pretty biased lol. Bring on the honeycomb hopefully 3.2. Sense or not. Don't care. Just want that app BAD!
Hi,
I have been looking for making my xperia Ray bootable with two operating system i.e. (Multiboot Operating System) . I have heard one project Modaco.switch of making the dual booting in the HTC One and it is working on the Samsung Galaxy S4 in near future. Can we make something like this which is compatible with the Xperia devices. Although I'm not a kernel developer however I do make android apps and I have good experience on Java Programming. I would love to hear more about this features possibility from admin and users.
Thanks
