Conversion Gurus? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone come up with a conversion utility that would enable us to run free WP7 apps on WM 6.5.x phones?
After all, it is pretty much the same hardware, no?
If not, anyone up to the challenge?

Guess that won´t happen.
Too many, if not all, programmers have moved to Android - and WP7.

No, different operating systems. It would be like trying to run an android App in Windows 6.5.x.

[App] Battle.net Authenticator [beta][open-source]

I have ported the Windows version of the Battle.net Authenticator to Windows Mobile 6.5x.
(This is NOT an official Battle.net Authenticator app from Blizzard, nor a hash of the Java emulated version, but an open-source implementation in C#.)
You can use this to create a new authenticator and have it generate codes on your device and then add the serial into your account. It can also import the authenticator key from the Java BMA version if you had that installed.
You can read more about the Windows and Windows Mobile versions, as well as browse the source code, at:
http://code.google.com/p/winauth
Many thanks,
-c.
If you could post your device details if it is not working, or even if it is, that would really help.
Thanks..
-c.
Works fine on a Rhodium At least all the options seem to do what they're supposed to!
Might I suggest adding the ability to import an already installed Java B.net Authenticator? Dunno if it is possible but it will be much easier to test

Thanks for feedback.
I have added an import for the Java key into the new 1.0.1030 release now up on Google code.
I'm just wondering, is it possible to port the WoW Armory onto Windows Mobile as well? I dreamt to have the WoW Armory app on my HTC HD2, shame there isn't one.

I'm sure it's possible since the data is available, even though there is no official API. However, I remember they closed down similar iPhone apps that were in competition with their own.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have one for Windows Mobile 7.
Works great on my Imagio running Energy's ROM. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you very much for this great App.
It's a real shame that Blizzard does not care for Windows Mobile but prefers pushing the f%&$in Apple hype (WoW Armory and Authenticator available)...
At least they invented one for Android (probably most popular besides iOS) too, but too bad they don't give a damn for Windows Mobile
PS: works great on my HTC HD2!

If you want to make some games, game editor is excellent for that. Iam making a cut the rope for windows mobile with it , I will let you know when its released. There are some limitations , but its free to use and simple to learn. The games in the website in my signature where made with game editor , go check them out.
You may struggle a bit here. All versions of Windows Mobile are running a version of Windows CE .NET, the vast majority of them on an ARM powered device.
Most of the operating system will have been written in Win32 C/C++ with a few touches of ARM assembly thrown in for device drivers, CE components etc.
ATL and MFC are both C++ class wrappers for the underlying Win32 stuff.
The .NET CF is the Mobile Version of the .NET Framework and again is a wholly Microsoft set up. (VS 2003 onwards)
Mono is a GNU linux .NET alike product and can be used to create CF exectables. It's free, but there are a few caveats. The first one being the fact that WinMo will refuse to run exe files created by Mono until you patch its compiled key. There is no real test or debug environment. It will be code, compile, patch, copy, run and crash ad nauseum, until it works! Also the QTK graphics objects, have not been ported over to WinMo.
The only 'free' MS offering is Embedded C++ 4.0, but it is C++ Win32/MFC/ATL only and takes a lot of hard work to master, and it was only really meant for development for WinMo 2003, although correct design of an application will allow it to run on later versions and appear like a MinMo 5/6 program.
Use of GPS may scupper your efforts, you will need VS 2005 or later.
To sum up, it's a minefield.

Maybe on WP8 but not on what we do know so far
How about buying an Android phone if you so desperately need or want to run Android apps. You obviously own the wrong phone.
you can only install from marketplace slow immitation of android. nothing better, sorry =(
You will never be able to run Android apps on Windows Phone. WP is so locked down that it will never be possible. For one Android is Linux based.
How do you explain Gameboy emulators then?

The Nintendo Gameboy ran on Unix, and someone built an emulator for it for Windows Phone.
If it's possible to build something that emulates Unix, it's possible to build something that emulates Linux, and so it is possible to build something that emulates Android.
Please look at Purple Cherry X, how did they manage to emulate Gameboy roms on Windows Phone?
Also, BlueStack was written in C#, and Windows Phone apps are written in C#. See where I'm going with this?
since there's an android emulator on the Blackberry, I think that it IS possible to do this.

Android app port to Ubuntu Touch

Hey!
We know, that we can't run Android apps on Ubuntu Touch. The UT is a great operating system, but it has a big problem. It doesn't have any "neccessary" or "must have" applications NOW. These apps are the following by the community's opinion: FacebookMessenger, WhatsApp, Google Maps, a browser (like Chrome, Opera mini or Firefox), instagram, etc.
So, I want to know, that we are possible to port these (or any other) Android apps to UT, or not? If the answer is yes, i want to create a team. In this team i want to port Android apps, or create this apps alternatives.
Guess not much up in the forums
Request: Simyo Call Status App [Netherlands]
Hi there,
I haven't been on the xda forums a lot since the end of 2009 I believe but, since Canonical announced Ubuntu Touch this year, I have my reasons to pick up browsing the forums again. The Ubuntu Touch region, specifically.
Now, you were asking if there's any Android Apps to port to Ubuntu Touch.
I have a request that might not be of interest to a lot of people but will get pretty important to me once a 'user version' of Ubuntu Touch is released:
Simyo Netherlands provides an App to check your current "Belstatus" or call status.
This app provides me (on my iPhone) with the current remaining minutes/sms messages and remaining data (megabyte) for the current month within the contract.
Below the link to the Android equivalent in the Play Store, which might be portable to an Ubuntu Touch app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.simyo.mijnsimyo
Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in doing.
I might be of some help being a C# programmer, but I still need to check out the Ubuntu Touch SDK (my HTML5 and QML knowledge is poor) and that's something I won't be able to very soon....

You can port any already existing apps that are found on Android, you just need the API from the app developers.
Google Maps

No, there's no tool like that for Ubuntu Touch (yet?).
I'd be willing to port my Android apps to Ubuntu touch. Does the work need to be done from scratch? Is there a simpler way to port a java, native, android app to Ubuntu?
I can't contribute anything app-wise, but this sounds like a really good idea; best of luck!
Ubuntu-Touch must LIVE! I have use it and it is cool system. Some problems with applications time to time appeares. And it is very hard find developers for apps. But I think if required apps appeares -- more people move to UT. And first of all that system must use NOT for games.

Till last some years UT has some changes. For example appears OpenVPN network manager in a base apps. But unfortunately that feature with unresolved bugs. Also I didn't find any browsers like QupZilla/Mozilla FireFox or Lynx. So As for me we required updated OS for first. And normal browser. Current versions of browsers are unusable. That i big part of work. For that required powerful developers group. I try to compile and run some examples to UT but unfortunately unsuccessful. But I try. Who also try do something but with successful result?
