I know how to set custom ringtones for voice calls but can it be done for individual txt tones?
Ringo Pro (available on market) will let you set individual tones for each contact.

Thank you. I will look for it.
You don't need the Pro version Ringo Lite will let you set custom notification tones on a per contact basis.
Edit: Handcent SMS also lets you set custom notification tones.

Anyone seen any themes apart from the default 2?? cant seem to find any. Also wondering if there is any way to change the very low quality default no contact image, its very blurry poor image and wouldn't mind updating it with something of my own
thanks in advance
As its on the same theme, can I also ask does anyone know how to change the settings for the Handcent widget? Don't like the dark background but I can't see how to change it. Would prefer white with black writing.

Handcent - Settings - Conversation list settings - Display contact pictures
You can set your own account picture and that of others.
Also, if you go to settings - Account - Handcent Themes, register and you should be able to download themes.
is it possible to increase the limit of 160 characters?
no, I don't think it is
Where can I configure sounds to be different for email vs sms/txt messages?
When you open email and go to settings you will be able to set whatever tone you want and the same applies to sms (again go into settings)
Thanks. What do you guys use as notification noises?
Use anything you want. Google "Zedge" they have hundreds on there and you'll be spoilt for choice, and its free.

System/Media/Audio /notifications .

Ok, has anyone been able to figure out how to change the notification sound of the built in Email client? (Not Gmail). It's an annoying bell and I see no option anywhere to change it. I've been through the system settings AND through the email settings -- maybe I am missing something.
Also, is there a way to change the water sounds to the regular Android sounds?
Thanks in advance!!
Not sure about email client but to change to android sounds u need to root.
Extract ringtones u want from a different Rom...ie an S2 ics Rom for example.
Then use root explorer to place new tones in /system/media/audio/ringtones.
Reboot and the new tones should show up in settings for u to select. .
Hope this helps.

Mine show up under the email settings...
Open the e-mail>>settings>> select the email address that you have added... scroll to the bottom... Notification settings...
This is a per e-mail account setting so they are "hidden" under each attached account

Thanks! I'm already rooted, but there is no option to change touch tone sounds, even if I added more to the directory.

So basically it's just like the Gmail settings then? Cool. Thanks.
Found them, they are all in the UI directory. One controls touch, one is for back, etc. They all have to be changed in order to get rid of the 'water' sounds.
It's called: /system/media/audio/ui/
The two files I have found so far are:
TWTouch.ogg
S_HW_Touch.ogg
Now if I could just find the standard Android touch tones somewhere.
Is this possible? Even if I had to create a custom group for the person I found how to do that, but nothing I've seen lets me assign the alert tone. I have the option of assigning a custom ringtone and custom vibrate...seems like I'm missing something here?
I'm not sure if the stock messaging app allows you to do that but it cant be done via editing the contact. You can do it via GoSMS Pro though
via Galaxy S III
You could try a app called tone picker it worked for me.

Hey
I'm new in Mycolorscreen. In my Dream-Theme-Widget there should be a button for each message App.
Right now, i only find the Option to add the item "unread sms". And the Click on it, to select the App (like WhatsApp).
Now i want to add an other "unread sms" but hotspot to telegram.
Is there a way to change the Text of the object? Right now both obj.'s are shown the the Label "unread sms".
How can i change it?
Is there a way to calculate the count of unread WhatsApp or Telelegram messages?

Hi,
Unfortunately for now, Themer only supports the default SMS app in terms of notifications. You can also only add a single SMS app preference, however there is a way around this. Therefore we recommend using MissedIt! (or Tasker).
Themer is still in its beta stage so we recommend these apps for now, with Missed It! being a lot easier to use. Here's a simple video tutorial I created that should help: http://youtu.be/92vhOce1uNU. Good luck!
