I can't get the print scanner to work with widget locker. Am I missing something??
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I tried using the fingerprint scanner also with widgetlocker and I believe it didn't work because the default lockscreen is associated with the scanner program. When I first set up the scanner after installing widget locker the default lockscreen popped up inorder to swipe. I am assuming the scanner and widgetlocker cannot be used at the same time.
I'm having no problem with mine, I use widget locker to unlock to fingerprint scanner, sometimes it takes a second for fingerprint scanner to initialize tho.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
^ I assume they're trying to use the fingerprint scanner with widgetlocker how it reacts with the stock lock screen. That is to say: Use the fingerprint scanner to unlock the widgetlocker screen and not have to use the stock lock screen at all.
I would also be very interested in finding a way to do this as I really like using the fingerprint scanner but ended up choosing the ability to customize my lock screen as more important. Using both is just a pain...
I confirm Widget Locker is not fingerprint enabled. Anybody send the dev an email? Looks like it is becoming a requested feature..

I was already planning on adding this as I realized it was possible and it'd be cool, but I am surprised how many people are interested in this. Motorola clearly did something right with this fingerprint scanner.
WL 2.0.1 will support being unlocked with the fingerprint scanner. Configure the scanner like normal for security, turn on your screen and see WL, you won't see the prompts for swipe now or swipe too fast, but you can still feel the vibration feedback. Swipe successfully and both WL and the moto security lockscreen go away.
If you swipe WL's unlock slider you'll be taken just to the moto slider, not directly to the pin. I can't bypass that yet.
You can try it now if you're interested:
http://teslacoilsw.com/tmp/WL_2.0.1beta2.apk (Requires market license)
Note, you may see a red square for a moment at the bottom of the screen, this is just some visual debugging I'm doing and will go away in 2.0.1final. If the red square gets stuck (and everything stops working) then let me know.
Good news! Looking forward to the full release. Definitely going to be using that to unlock again.
Works great. Thanks. I like that if someine tries to unlovl my phone with the slider, it takes them to the moto lockscreen.
And I have no red X on my screen. Just fyi

Awesome! ive been waiting for this xD(proud owner for a while now )
Seriously tho...this just made my day.
That's pretty awesome. I appreciate how quickly you're working on getting this feature added. It's kinda annoying to have to unlock my screen twice right now, so when this update goes live I'll be very happy to use WL again.
I find the fingerprint reading on the beta version listed here to be very sporadic. Sometimes it works most of the time nothing. Just usrt feedback.

mm.. I'm not sure.. but I might have had a slow down because of widgetLocker.. disabled and rebooted.. and it's back to it's speedyness.
Maybe it was just the reboot that did it.. I'll try to enable it again later and see if I get the same results..

I haven't seen anyone post about this, but I really want to know about the lockscreen. The thing is I love using the pattern lock, but what I dislike is that every UI I've seen, excluding sense, have removed their standard slide-unlock screen when enabling the pattern-lock. What I love about sense is that, it didn't remove the slide-unlock...
If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be really grateful.
Thanks!

The standard lockscreen is replaced with the pattern lock when enabled which is no different to the way stock gingerbread doess it.

Ouch, fail. So you don't have a lockscreen and pattern lock? Lockscreen for quick acces, pattern lock after prolonged period of not using the phone...
Major major fail.
Man,if you are into lockscreen.
Nothing comes close to widgetlocker{Sense 3.0 is the only other thing which comes to my mind},so many different themes to choose.
Windows/MIUI/iPhone/SE Arc & bunch of other themes to choose.
Widgetlocker is the best way to customise your phone lockscreen
I'll add another voice supporting WidgetLocker. Without wanting to state the obvious having widgets on your lock screen is fantastic (calendar, etc) and it keeps the slide and then pattern, as you want...
+1 for Widgetlocker, wouldn't be without it.
...it also lets you activate the screen with the home button, which will be ideal for those who can't get on with Samsung's placement of the power button.

Very nice...how big is the impact on battery with widgetlocker?
It's so easy to replace functions with third-party programs on Android, I really have to restrain myself not to litter my phone with every nice app I find.

Purchase widgetlocker from the market, after that you can get various lockscreen themes{include only the sliders} from xda android section itself.
Only the slider is there in the theme, rest all which you have seen in my lockscreen are the widgets
Yeah the widgets were the things that made it look good, do you just move them to the screen or what?
Thanks for your help

Yes,in widget locker you can use any widget on your lockscreen, just like you do it on your android homescreens
These are the only settings available for the security lock.
There's no time out period and this is what you're greeted with when you turn your phone on.

Yeah I know. My old Desire allowed you to set a time limit on when the security lock would be needed but that's easily done with an app from the Market.
Ok, so im coming from WP7 and i really liked how that showed notifications on the lock screen. If you havent seen it, this is what it looks like:
http://bfitz.me/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/IMG_0374-300x244.jpg
Basically, im looking for something similar for android. I have WidgetLocker so its just a matter of finding a program that displays like that. I tried Executive Assistant, and its ok, but i dislike the fact that i can press the notifications and see previews, and then navigate to the full app. I just want a display that shows how many calls and how many texts/emails ive missed since i last looked at my phone. Does this exist? Or will I have to create it?
best solution i can think of is go launcher ex with go launcher notification. works with their sms app and googles gmail app

You could download Widget Locker and add some widgets to your screen. That's probably the closest you will ever get.
I have widget locker but i cant find appropriate widgets. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I found Missed It!, seems like the closest im going to get. I dont care about the icons, just wanted a notification on the lock screen that doesnt call out a program when you touch it (because that kind of defeats the purpose of a lock screen, if you can bypass it).

http://goo.gl/y2ec5 Widget Locker is based in ADW so the ADW notifier app should work on WidgetLocker regardless of what launcher you are running. When installing WidgetLocker you should have been presented with this info and prompted to download the plug in.
Hats off to you if you can create it.

You need SMS Unread Count from the Market. Icons are custom.
You could try widget locker with elixir. Elixir has widget counters for phone, SMS and Gmail.

I use smsunread count too but think of this, if anyone has used phantom music player they know it can remain "hidden" until touched. Well I was just thinking of working on a new project thanks to this very thread.
- A widget that remains hidden until a number reaches any value above "0". This way you can put it on your lock screen and its not there, Just like wp7, until its activated by receiving a txt, email, call etc... now heres the question. Should it be 1 widget where they all light up when 1 is activated, or have individual widgets similar to smsunread. I think individual would be a better touch. Time to get to work.

if you hold down on an icon in tool mode of widgetlocker there is a little slider box to disable touches. This will allow you to see the notifications or have anything on the screen without tapping it by accident

You can't bypass the lock screen with Widgetlocker. If you press a sms, mail, or call icon it takes you to the main lockscreen which shows when you are not using Widgetlocker. Then it takes you to the app after you unlock from there.
If you are using Widgetlocker in Tool mode, it will take you to the app right away, but that's because your device is not locked in Tool mode.
I was looking into this a while back and apparently Tasker has that function. I can't find the link but I know there was a guide specific to that.

These lockscreens are awesome, much more fun than widgetlocker. The only problem is they all need resizing to fit our screens.
I've been trying but without a script and my lack of knowledge its hard work. If you rename the. mtz to .zip then extract it and find lockscreen, rename that to lockscreen.zip and extract that you can edit manifest.xml and resize everything to fit our screens, Ive been dividing all the sizes by 50% to make everything fit on the screen and then trial n error to move everything to the right place. Does anybody know an easier way??

Arrrggghhh so close, this is frustrating !
This one is VA 3way minimal lockscreen, it has a white animated line that should move down between the 2 slider icons when there in the right place and when pressed a phone and sms icon appears at either side which you drag the centre icon to, took me an hour and half to get that close.
Edit: a default one I started last night but forgot to resize the images.

Aaaaaaargh lol it reminds me of the frustrations I got with chronotopia. Just a little bug I found with unlocking..... aswell as the volume and home button method I found holding the back button kills the app and restores original lockscreen too. It's a cm7. Back button kill option I know but for me a lockscreen should only have 1 method to unlock and this app has 3 and for this reason " I'm out " lol
" once its gone,its GONE."
True and I give up too, its too much work for me. this apps still in early stages so fingers crossed it'll get better features and hopefully someone else who is better than me will port all the lockscreens.

I think it's great app other than the fact that you have to resize all of the themes lol. Does it matter if there is 3 ways to unlock? Just use one And you can turn the back button kills app thing off right?

No I can't turn back button kill off due to the fact I use this function.

What exactly have you tried? I can't REcompile 4.2 apks yet, but if tablet UI really was removed in 4.2, couldn't the navbar layout file in SysUI be tweaked instead?
The layout file for the navbar doesn't specify a layout gravity or padding. So, wouldn't it be possible to apply those two layout properties to the parent's framelayout to push the keys left?
I would definitely try this, but the N10 I have now is being returned when my 32GB N10 comes in next week...

Yes, but he is suggesting that ppl use LMT launcher (essentially soft key replacement if used right) and then use the toggle to hide the stock keys.
Anyone heard if button savior is going to be updated for 4.2? The menu button doesn't work so it's pretty much unusable.

another, perhaps more drastic, option is use ROMs that are bringing back the old tabletUI (like Paranoid Android).

Yeah, me too. Don't know how it should work.
Yes, it would be great if the navigation buttons could be moved around.
Personally I would like them on the right hand side - of whatever way up I am using.
It is really annoying with the thing sitting comfortably in my lap to have to lift it up to clear my sweater or shirt every time I want to to go back, or to access another app.

First you have to set your Keys on LMT its not just Open it and its done. Pie = something like a key ,its works like when u use the AOSP browser with full screen, that you have buttons at the side and you get like half a circle with options and you move your finger to it. Or you can just set gestures to go back, home or open apps, depends on taste.
- But no, it doesnt move your soft keys to the left, it gives you something better imho, more accesible.
- shadow thanks never tried to rebooot it worked well...

So do you finally need to root your device for this combination of LMT and toggle fullscreen?
Is anyone able to confirm, that it is working without root...?
I can't get gestures to work, but pie does. Any suggestions?
Edit: Pie is going to be much better anyway, but still a bit dumbfounded as to why it works on my N4 but not N10.

I don't have to root or anything for this, right? Sideloading these apps will just work on a stock Nexus 10?

How has no one answered this simple question yet?
Sorry if I sound unappreciative. I appreciate the info but a lot of us who aren't rooted would like to know .
Both apps request root access on my devices, so I would imagine it is required.

yes you need root
[AOSP/CM/HTC][LP-MM] Gesture Unlock with Custom Shortcuts
This Xposed module enables gesture unlock for Lollipop and Marshmallow devices . The gesture unlock is highly customizable, from changing colours to visibility, error messages, background, etc. You can even hide the emergency button.
What's more, you can use gestures to directly open specific shortcuts from the lockscreen, for example use U to unlock, W to open WhatsApp, M for email, etc. These shortcuts don't have to be just apps, they can be anything on your device, like Direct Dial, open a specific Contact, etc.
The module is pretty self explanatory, and will prompt you to set a pattern on the lock screen, because that is what it replaces. Other than that, there are no specific instructions to use it.
The only caveats are because of the way Xposed works.
A. Your gestures will be visible to any one or any app on your device. No root required.
B. You need root to restart the keyguard after changing the gesture full screen option. It is not mandatory, you could manually reboot if you require. All other changes will be reflect automatically, but not this one.
Download : http://repo.xposed.info/module/me.rijul.gestureunlock
Source code : https://github.com/Rijul-Ahuja/GestureUnlock/
Compatibility :
I personally test on CM13, and I will support CM12.0, CM12.1, AOSP 5.x and 6.0.x and derivatives. HTC support is limited unless I find a tester. Support for other OEM ROMs is absent beyond basic working functionality.

FAQ
My ROM already has gesture unlock, how is this better?
The module has a lot of customization options, like, gesture colours, gesture visibility, text visibility, show gesture correct or incorrect, show or hide emergency button and text, and even full screen gesture. You even launch custom shortcuts directly from the lock screen.
Does this work with screen off?
No, that is device specific and I can't implement it without having a device in hand, and even then, it is beyond my abilities.
Module does not work at all
Give me logcat, SystemUI.apk or any other lockscreen.apk which your device uses, I will try to implement it.
Some features, particularly emergency button related, do not work
Give me logcat, SystemUI.apk or any other lockscreen.apk which your device uses, I will try to fix it, but if it gets too difficult to manage because of your OEM ROM, it will not be done.
I am stuck on the lock screen, please help!
Long press the gesture view 3 times and draw a gesture. Your stock pattern will be restored.
CM / HTC / Xperia / TouchWiz support?
Works on some HTC, Xperia and TouchWiz devices and not all features work properly.
CM is supported before 20th June nightly I believe.

working well, thanks so much
Hi again. I disabled the knock code module as you said and it worked. However, i noticed that there's something wrong with the gesture entry. I feel like it's not working as it should. Sometimes the gesture gets recognised from the first attempt sometimes it requires multiple attempts. I don't know if it's something from my side but the gesture entry feels so laggy and not working properly.
Great work. One thing, it just feels a little slow.

Try reducing the minimum prediction score? I didn't face this at all. A little more information will do good.

What feels slow? Some things may lag because of the automatic preference reloader, try a reboot?

I mean its slow as compared to knock code, it takes a bit more time to unlock, haven't tried reboot just did a keyguard restart. I'll try doing a reboot.

Turn off show gesture correct?
I think there is a lag when using custom shortcuts to unlock, but not when unlocking normally. Is that what you're talking about @Tyaginator?
EDIT : Cannot reproduce any longer after reboot it seems?
Now THIS is what I was looking for :3

No i was talking about normal unlock only, it's just minor. Currently i'm back to knock code coz I've kinda habit of that and maybe i feel it slow coz i'm too quick in unlocking via knock code. I'll keep on checking further updates.

Thank you so much for creating this module!
I have waited too long for this! ?
The full screen gesture does not work for me. I tried a full reboot instead of just restarting the keyguard but still no luck. Also, there is a little "t" missing in "Directly show gesture entry" in the "Gesture Settings" section.
