ok, so I'm a noob.. I just rooted and flashed a phone for the first time less than a week ago, and have been using Android for about 8 months.. I just started using the newest CM7 Bravo nightly (Bravo 11) which uses 2.3.3. I am dying for Sense (was using 2.2 before), but it seems NO ONE has cooked a Gingerbread + Sense ROM.
I'm really looking for Gingerbread + Sense's news, weather, favorites widgets, as well as the google apps, with Launcherpro and Honeycomb Theme.
Pretty much, I want to make a ROM that's CM7 2.3.3 + HTC Sense 2.0 (and updatable like CM7 of course.. the easiest thing would be to create a zip file which can be hosted on the sd card for each time i update my CM7 nightly, but a better choice would be making my own ROM so I control everything.
Am I crazy to think I can do this alone? Haha! Thanks everyone in advance for your help!

well, sense cannot be extracted from a sense rom and placed onto gingerbread, so youll have to wait untill the wildfires s ruu is ported to your device(as only wildfire s will have gingerbread and htc sense as stock) or any other device that has both sense and 2.3.3 already loaded onto it(which none do atm).
hrm.. any idea how long that will take?? haha... and why can Sense not be extracted from the stock HTC Froyo ROM??

well, depending on who will take on the challenge to port it, and sense cannot be extracted , and if you do somehow get it over to gingerbread, sense will never run(FC's up the ass).

This may sound silly, but a poorly programmed camera app that I really love (Retro Camera) can't produce high res images on my rooted Hero (running basic 2.1 for Hero), as evidently the OS is using so much memory not enough is left for the app to render the photo twice (like I said, it's pretty godawful code on their part).
But, I like the images it produces enough that I'm considering rolling back to 1.5 to see if that works (pretty sure it used to do high res for me before I rooted and upgraded).
I was hoping for some recommendations of fast, stable, low-ish memory use 1.5 ROMs. Or is there a way for me to just roll back to standard 1.5 without overwriting the rooting in case I decide speed and features are indeed more important than pretty pictures?
Just flash the 1.5 rom image using your custom recovery. Use the standard wipe options.
MoDaCo had a pretty well respected 1.5 rom. Look for a final of that if I were you. The others had so many tweaks you had no idea what you were getting, very hit and miss.
Have you tried Vanilla 2.1 builds? I would recommend trying them first as 1.5 had worse memory management IIRC.
Thank you. I'll try a Vanilla 2.1 ROM first, that sounds like a better solution if it works.
You tried a Froyo build? They're vanilla, but I dunno how much RAM is needed, so can't comment...
Haven't tried a Froyo ROM yet, but no luck with VanillaEclair or the latest 2.1version of Cyanogen that I could find. I've found several Sprint Hero users with unroofed phones running 2.1 and getting high res to work. I suppose it could be the hardware, pretty frustrating.
Try Modaco 3.2 along with the lightspeed kernel from here somewhere. I think I kept that setup for 2 - 3 months without feeling the need to flash anything else,....

Hey there I'm new to android coming from iOS. Ive been trying new roms but they havent been working that smoothly for me. Wondering if theres a rom that is very close to official 2.1 but rooted
currently running froydvillain 1.5, overclocked to 652mhz (for some reason I remember my unrooted 1.5 my hero came with to be more stable)
BTW what is RUU is there a terms thread for nubs?
RUU is a Rom Update Utility. Its an executable made by HTC to flash new roms for people who don't have root/a recovery image.
As far as stock roms go, it depends which "stock" you want. Froyd is a vanilla 2.2 rom. 2.2 hasn't officially been released for our hero, so its a little bit buggy. Cudos to the developers though, I use froyd as an every day rom, doesn't give me any gip.
Anyway, 2.1 was officially released for us by HTC, and I would heartily recommend vanillaeclair 4 for your vanilla 2.1 needs.
Sense is the HTC GUI for the hero and us "stock" as far as the hero is concerned. Chocolateeclair is made by the same Guy as vanillaeclair, but I dislike sense, so I can't really recommend any good sense roms.

Villain rom 12 if you want a no frills 100% 2.1 rom everything works.
If you want to use 2.2 i am using froydvillain 1.5 all working well but a bit heavy on the battery apart from that working lovely here.
use rcmix, it's the best 2.1 rom imo.

Hello folks,
I am some what new to the Android OS, I have a vibrant that has been updated with mini kies to the JI6 2.1 ECLAIR. I am anxious to try out Froyo. I thought I would wait awhile until the Devs could work out some bugs. I think that has happened by now. So I have three questions.
1. what is the most stable custom Froyo based ROM I can flash on my vibrant?
2. Is there a Froyo based ROM that already has mobile AP enabled for the vibrant?
3. Where (if possible) can I download a stock ROM of the vibrant? (Before you tell me to make one, know that mine is not stock, I have installed OCLF, and the JI6 update)
thanks for any help that can be given,
RAMROD

1. [ROM] Obsidian V2 - JK2 Official Froyo Based 2.2 - Team Whiskey - *11/08/10* Very stable for me

This is my preference, seems very stable and can be a daily driver. I imagine its going to have an update soon, we'll see. I don't like TW, if you do, perhaps try another version (eugenes or TWs Obsidian).

-- Wait the link was to a "True Stock" 2.1 rom, are you saying that is your current preference over Froyo?
-- Your aversions to TW... is that you don;t like them personally, or you do not like their roms?
^ HAHAA, Sorry, let me clarify:
I LOVE Team Whiskey. I HATE TouchWiz (TW).
The link is to Onyx. It is 2.2 without TW (TouchWiz). It flies on my Vibrant... no FCs, very stable. I imagine they are going to have an update soon but the good news is they are not wiping data now so you can flash R21, then R22 and not lose anything. If/when they release R23 I imagine that too will not wipe data so you can just flash right on top and not lose anything.
LauncherPro is more appealing to me, more customizable and it's faster. There is nothing I like about TW better than LP. I also hate scrolling left to right (I know there is an alt way, but LP is better for me). Look at the downloads/comments for Onyx (no TW) vs. Obsidian (the 2.2 version with touchwiz) and you will see an overwhelming majority prefer no TW.

So I installed bionics Obsidian 2.2 on my vibrant using Clockwork rom manager. Everything went smooth. It installed and booted just great, I really liked what I saw. Only problem I ran into was I had purchased a app before I flashed rom. After flash, it was gone.. not just off the phone but not in the market either. No big deal normally I would just go into market and click Downloads and there it would be. Not this time, cant even find it doing a search. I paid like $14 usd for it so I would like it. But its completely gone. Maybe it wont show it to me because of the new firmware?
Now, it is not there and my first instinct told me to re-flash... So I open clockwork and try and re-install. I locate file on SD.. But, instead of rebooting into clockwork, it reboots like its going to and reboots again but into standard recovery OS mode.
What would be the easiest way for me to re-flash this using a macbook?
Remember reading somewhere that the market installed was the european version so some paid apps would appear. However i can't seem to find the post that originally mentioned this issue. Anyone else remember if obsidian was using the european version of the market?
C to the L-O-T-O-R-I-O, U-S, you just, lay down slow.
If you have clockwork still installed (the answer is yes if you have a team whiskey rom loaded), if you get to the standard pre-loader, recovery mode, just select "reinstall packages..." That should get you into CwR

Regarding apps... don't forget to get Titanium Backup and backup not only all your apps but also their data. I recommend the donated pro version for $5.99 which makes the backup/restore process completely painless and automatic. So after you flash a new rom if something like you describe happens you can just recover your app from your backup.
Ok I just rooted my HTC Legend and I'm looking for a good ROM to use. I want a fast one that I can install apps to the SD card with if I want to. I also want to be able to install any app I want that requires root privs like Shark for root. What one do you use?
Any suggestions are much appreciated thanks!
With Sense I recommend BlaYo B 0.8.4
Without Sense I recommend CyanogenMod, with DarkTremor (For true A2SD).
But that's just me, there are many roms out there that might suit you better. It's just a choice of personal preference really.
If u want a smooth and stable ROM with sense, use blay0's .. If u want a gingerbread rom, use ogo2's rc1 .. If u dont like sense cyanogenmod7

If. You're up to wireless tether. Than ogos rom is not for you.
I suggest you with blay0s b.08 rom. For starters... you do pay htc with sense features. Unless you dont want it. Cm7.

I mean the sense framework. I've flash rom many times already. And I really find sense people (contacts) is a very good contact manager. It does merging your contact by making links at the note part of the contact and does not
Delete contacts to merge. There are some other contact manager in the market. But this is still better in many ways.

Hi. I`m kind of new here.
I want to ask you to recommend me some roms that are based on Android 2.3 which will work on legend flawlessly or, if not possible, something else to replace my boring vodafone branded 2.2.
From what I`ve read on other threads, there are problems with radio/wifi/gps in some of them and i don`t know what to choose, because i want it to be 100% useable and a plus from my current rom in all areas.
If you could help, please do !

it you want to try something new, i would say use cyanogenmod 7.0.3. That is a stable version and everything works
If you want some extra looks then standard cm 7.0.3 you can use this version i cooked (witch support transparent statusbar)
I use blay0s b.08 rom because it's nice and stable but i sometimes switch to cyanogenmod 7.0.3 or nightly's
i find the radio or whatever controls the reception and connectivity of the phone with cyanogenmod is pretty bad with my phone. takes ages to connect to 3g, wifi reception is poor and a lot of the time people cant even call me lol. blay0s rom is perfect except wifi doesnt work at all, and the newsense rom is even more perfect and i just love it in every way, except the wifi doesnt work with 802.1x enterprise which is what my uni network uses so its kinda annoying. but i still use it, gingerbread with sense is so damn good omg <3
Thanks for your answer. I installed both cm7.0.3 an blayo 0.8.4, but i will stick with the last one. It`s kind of amusing, after flashing cm7.0.3 i have ~168 MB internal storage left, and with blayo i have 110 MB. (no sd partitioning, i try to keep it as simple as i can).
So, i used titanium backup to force remove some system apps i don`t need in blayo, then through clockwork recovery i wiped data/cache/dalvik and rebooted, so now i have 131 mb left on blayo.
1. Is this the right way to do it or i colud somehow gain more internal storage space?
2. Is moving apps2sd with titanium backup efficient, or shoud i use something else?
How is ogo2 2.3.3 + sense 2.1 ROM?
Sorry for silly question but I am new to this forum and am going to root my Legend now. I just read about this rom (2.3.3 + sense 2.1) RC3, but there are few things mentioned that are not working like wifi and fm.
Is RC3 the latest build?
I want to install a ROM that is faster and less buggy.
Do you suggest ogo2's ROM or CM7?
This may sound like a strange question, but does anyone still have a copy of an AOSP Froyo 2.2 ROM they would be willing to upload?

ComROM and Superclean are both based on official stock Verizon ROMs. They basically either gut out or modify TouchWiz. I'm not too sure about the Froyo builds of these, but if you're looking at the EH03 builds of SuperClean and TSM (previously known as Comrom) they have Touchwiz 4. As far as I understand, Community ROM (TSM) pretty much contains AOSP apps but it's based off of EB01 (VZW 2.2.1)
So from what I'm seeing, the only pure android 2.2 AOSP roms are probably going to be jt's vanilla froyo or Cyanogenmod 6?
I'm also looking for an AOSP version of gingerbread. My SD card is a class 4 and I can't flash any of the official CM7.1 or CM7.2
