Did you get a replacement phone. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just curious as I just ordered a replacement phone today if anyone who has gotten one has had problems or noticed any difference in the screen. I ask because when I look at the order details on T-mobile site it says "High Resolution Screen." Probably just a generic term they are throwing in there but the other 2 bits of info are phone specific...well, kind of Samsung Vibrant™
* High Resolution Screen
* 1Ghz Processor
* 16 GB Built-in Memory
Like I said I'm just curious. I'll know what I have in a few days.

I got mine today. Same screen as the one I bought from t mobile. I'm guessing they are describing the super amoled screen

Gf got one a few days ago and its all the same. No.worries. I would still check it all out and make sure it all works ofc.

Thanks guys. Like I said I was just curious. No matter what it will still be better than my back up phone I'm using now. A 3 year old Blackberry Pearl that doesn't even have wifi let alone 3G connectivity. I'll be glad to be back on Vibrant and happily wait the 30 - 60 seconds for media scan as opposed to the five minutes I did this morning with the Pearl.

[q] dead pixel

Hello Atrix users! Im not sure about your phone experience but coming from rooted lag fixed 2.2 Captivate (highest quadrant benchmark 2004) i have very positive thoughts about the Atrix. So far i only run into audio playback problem that appear to be the auto -kill check list and is easy fixed by unchecking certain apps and folders , check my findings searching my responses to posts if you having this issue. Till today i was nice and happy till i spotted dead pixel. Im sure wasnt there when picking up from store ( i have 20/10 vision yeah my eye doc is confused too). I wanna know if any of you noticed dead ones after few days of use . If you do im questioning the quality of this display because besides stating its first qHD we dont know jack a... about it.
exchange it at a store
if they dont let you , best bet = take it to a store for a full refund
then buy it at another store
I'll check this post for few days and see how it goes. Its not that big of a deal but just wanna see if any others having this issue. This way I could back this up talking to them in store.

I had a dead pixel on my Atrix as well. Took it to the corporate store from where I bought it and showed them. They gave me a new one without a problem.

Just exchanged mine today at radioshack due to a blue "zombie" pixel.
lol..same thing happened to me...had green one on the left lower side. exchanged for new one at the store without any problems
No dead pixels so far *fingers crossed*

Got my phone exchanged with no questions asked, very nice.

Ok this really weird day for me officially saying goodbye to atrix . I posted before about exchanging the dead pixel phone . Coming home I discovered the screen way off alignment to the left and actually twisted sideways . I got really upset and got back to store . They pulled 2 more for me , first one had the same problem off to the left and twisted second oh guess what dead pixel. I can't believe that posting about overall good first experience I found this phone to be such a poo build . I think Motorola totally paid individuals who made first reviews before ATT put them in stores. New dual core technology into something this cheesy its a shame . The guy serviced me today said I'm fourth person returning this phone due to problems with the display . I'm officially done with any Motorola product. Compared side by side with HTC inspire 4G didn't performed any better , even my girlfriend noticed that the HTC its much smother and actually faster opening applications not to mention build quality. So after all this drama I'm looking on big 4.3 screen and thinking I made damn good decision .

Got IT!!!!!

So I got the ruby today...just a little feedback.
I upgraded from the Glacier, and I was running the darkside 1.5 ROM with sense 3.5. And to be honest, I liked the Glacier better. The Amaze is just like an over grown Glacier and is a bit laggy. They changed the charge port, and at the bottom of the screen where the touch buttons are, it glows white on the screen, say like inside of settings where the backscreen is black. I'll Give more info with the more I use it. So far wish I would of kept the Glacier. Nice Camera and screen though, besides the 'white' issue.
You really might have a defective unit then because in the week I've been using mine I haven't caught even a moment of lag. This is by far the quickest and snappiest phone I've ever used.

Well pretty much any brand new phone with a dual core 1.5 ghz processor should not be lagging at all. Definitely not more than something as outdated as the mt4g.

Exact same with mine. I'm so disappointed. I was looking so forward to this phone. I took the first one back thinking it was a fluke. Second one was the same. Even the display unit had it. The girl who was helping me thought I was crazy until I showed her by blocking the light with my hand. On any black screen when the buttons are lit, it bleeds up into the main screen. I went through three of them, and then gave up, and just got my money back. I want this phone, but I hope HTC fixes that first.
I have the lights at the bottom of the screen issue also. Looks pretty crappy sometimes

Oh and all of them did have a bit lag too. Here I thought it was such an upgrade from all my current phones (Nexus One, Desire HD, Defy), but really I'm back on the Desire HD, and loving it.
Can someone post a picture or video of the white issue?

I would also like to see this as I am in less than an hour headed to pick this thing up....
I'm pretty suprised because mine is flawless. No screen issues, dust, lag or anything else like that and I'm coming from a sensation. This phone is everything I hoped it would be and I have no complaints. If anything I would expect kind to have more of the issues as it is a store demo model so probably one of the earliest manufactured.

A little late for you, TurboBoxer, but it does look like the light from the buttons at the bottom isn't well-blocked from the screen. I took some pictures with my Nexus S, but I can't post an actual link because I'm new. You can see the bleeding light at the bottom, though. Here's a link to the album:

Yep. That's it. I think HTC needs to fix this in manufacturing now, and do a recall for the ones out now. This is not something I will tolerate when I pay $600 off contract.

Agreed. It's pretty noticeable, and while it doesn't bug me that much, it shouldn't be happening. My Nexus S has similar buttons/lighting at the bottom, with absolutely zero light bleed. It'd be nice if I could exchange this guy for one that doesn't bleed.
Edit: Added comparison shots of my Nexus S to the album (not) linked above.

You'll pay 600 dollars for a phone off contract? Are you on pills? I paid just over that for my computer. I thought they made phones off contract that expensive so people don't try to buy them.
Not necessary everyone buys phone on contract, majority in US buys I know... some people have money to buy off contract prices, some like trying new phones so they sell their existing phone, add some money and buy the new one off contract. Also there are lots of countries where phones are not sold subsidized.

i completely agree, i thought it would be hard to notice any improvement from the sensation, but, i must say, its like night and day, and we havent even ROM'd it out and tweaked the kernel yet... this phone is gonna be amazing... well, MORE amazing... lmao

I've done that a lot. Buy latest phone with upgrade (~200)....6 months later, sell on ebay for 375-400. Get newest phone off contract and pay difference (~200)...as long as you stay on top of the latest and greatest its not hard to essentially get each phone at upgrade pricing when you factor in the sale of the previous phone.
I went from 9800 bold > HD2 > aria> captivate > streak 5 > atrix > amaze and have never paid more than 100 out of pocket for the next phone

at least for me, i always have tried to sell it just as the newest one i want comes out. Its typically within 6-8 months of the release of the original device. Sometimes i'll just peruse ebay and see the prices, and then when i notice they start to go down i'll see what phones are out at that time so i get out of my current device before taking too great of a hit.
for example, the girl and I just sold her droid 2 for 200 bucks and my atrix for 280 on craigslist in one day, and since our contracts were up we went to tmobile and got these for little out of pocket since it was a new contract
I paid for mine cash, and to be honest....worst investment ever. Im not happy with the battery life, the screen issue, speaker is mediocre, my old hd2 was alot better than this phone. Its not about outdated, its about a good sturdy practical device.

Exchanging a Phone

Does anyone that either works for AT&T or has been with them for a while know if they will allow u to exchange a device if the one your turning in has a few nicks on it? I have the white Galaxy Note and was thinking about paying the restocking fee and exchanging it this Friday for the Galaxy S 3 before my 30 days is up. The grey border or whatever that goes around the outside edges of the phone has a couple nicks in the top left corner. Other than that it's flawless and just wondering if anyone knew if they allow exchanges even if the phone has a couple nicks on it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tiff!!
Why the hell would you go DOWN in phone awesome ness by downgrading to an S3 from the most awe sum Note?
BTW, I have not read any complaints about ATT giving someone a hard time about returning a note within the first 30 days, but you'll never know until you try it..
Hope you reconsider, since you will miss the screen size, tablet mode, and the s-pen.

Don't get me wrong. I love the big screen and the s-pen but I just think when it comes to hardware the s3 is a better device. Also, I haven't heard of AT&T giving anyone problems trying to return a phone within the first 30 days but I was just wondering if anyone has ever had any problems returning a phone with a few nicks.

Light Cosmetic damage isn't an issue. The phone will be sent back to Samsung to be refurbished anyway. Thats what the restock fee is for.

Replacement note so much better

Here's an interesting thing. I am on my third note with the other two being replaced due to screen and USB plug issues respectively. I get my new note and it is remarkably better. The GPS works where it couldn't even lock before and the phone itself is sooo smooth. It this how it was supposed to work the whole time?
Did you find the coffee and bacon making feature yet? I hope your replacement is fully functioning.

Sent my Note in a week before my warranty was up to have the screen fixed. Now the screen is much better than it ever was before. The screen was great before but it is noticeably sharper and brighter. My buttons are also super bright now. I think the screen has to be a hardware upgrade that could only be in a new Note or replacement screen.

Same here. Mine was replaced twice for different issues and the 3rd must be the charm. Colors are more vibrant, screen is brighter, and the phone is smoother. And it's a refurb. Weird.

I'll be getting a warranty replacement device in another day...
Mine failed the ATT update, and the device is messed up badly... ATT did some sort of diagnostic thing over wifi and data at the same time, and said my files were damaged somehow from the redbend OTA push.....they just said a new one is on the way for FREE.....
I hope the next one runs well, like my last one did....R.I.P. I717.....g

Yes ....but with a one time, $36.00 upgrade charge.
I've been a customer with them for nearly 15 years, since the early days and I also hold a level one business account.
So results for others will likely not be the same.
I've got 11 contracted devices in service with ATT, for my employees.
Having device replacements coming is much easier under those conditions.
They also let me keep the new device, and the tech told me to sell it for parts or repair the button and sell a new working device.
I've got a new power button coming Monday, and a shop I use regularly that will fix it for me too sell.
All together I'm placing 5 devices and their cases, chargers and packaging up for sale this week as I'm getting ready for the move into the note 2 this Tuesday.
I'm planning to stay around the note 1 section for a while, as we have many new users needing help from those of us who have been around this device for a while.
And I've also got duties to perform with the super thread and our Korean note users needing a section built inside the super thread space.....g

Defects

Perhaps I really just do have bad luck but thought I would share my experiences... I got the One through pre order and the device was solid except for a small gap at the bottom that I could live with. However, about 3 weeks in I was using my speakers to listen to some music using google play all access my device was burning hot when I picked it up from my bed (hot enough to a point in which I actually felt the burning sensation in my palm) I immediately ended all processes and did a restary just to be safe, when the device restarted I noticed there was no boot animation sound and soon realized that my speakers were inoperable and wouldnt generate a sound for anything. Then when I got my warranty replacement I noticed that my screen had a warm tint and flickered quite often and after about an hour of using it thw device shut off and wouldnt turn back on no matter what key combination I tried, and the led wouldnt turn on either. I visited a local at&t store that happened to be the store that the regional manager was visiting that day (the only piece of goodluck) where he just took the device (without box or anything at all just the phone) reversed my upgrade and let me pick any device of the same value for free.. (which I couldnt believe because even customer retention said I was out of luck and would have to try again with another refurb, btw I grabbed a gs4 which im ok with for now, might be back to the One once these issues are sorted out) sorry for the rant but this experience with at&t has definitely instilled some faith for me that at&t isnt always useless.

He's letting others know and maybe asking if its common. People who don't have the One yet, like me, want to know how detective the phone can be. I'm not gonna use my upgrade until later when all of this is fixed with the future batches. Thanks for the info OP!
