laptop dock no speakers built in? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok today i got the laptop dock and its pretty nice at first i thought it had built in speakers because it has 1 speaker vent on each side and i thought it was working when i first got it but i put my ear too the back and hear all the music coming from the phone speaker...
on reviews they say its speakers on both sides but im not really sure.
any one can confirm if the dock has speakers or is int mine working?
i was reading the help page and it says the laptop dock has built in speakers.. http://www.motorola.com/hc/5871/att/wt/en-us/help.html?id=d1e89
Update yes they are indeed speakers for some reason something seemed bugged and it was int switching too the laptop dock speakers when i click on the sound icon in the top bar.
Some reviews said it didint have speakers but yep it does just gets bugged sometimes.. lol

I can definitely recommend it!

I also agree. But make sure you are not chewing gum at the same time. They gradually pop out And when you take them for jogging the main unit bounces on your chest You could have a look at the Jabra 8010 convertible I have them both so I know.
Solution to "bouncing" problem:
Get out of the clips, with the plastic loops, like used on employee id cards and clip to your shirt. Works great!
I love the fit, the look, the sound quality, the battery life and the controls.
I bought these earbuds so I do not look like an alien walking the streets and riding the subway with those Moto or Logitec headphones or like a 007 with the mono earpeace hanging on my ear and everyone asking with a smirk "Are you on the conference call or something ?".
I love the minimalistic look - they snuggle in the ear and sit there so comfortably, isolating the street/subway noise so well and I look "normal" like everyone listening to their iPods.
But the neck strap ... I hate the neck strap - it spoils everything ... it just does not go well with the suit and tie
Although it was a good thing to have while riding the board. They were hanging perfectly fine on my neck when I took them out snowboarding back in February. I haven't used them since. The WM6 stack or the radio itself was dropping the BT connection every time GSM signal would bounce and GPRS connection had to be re-established.
qWith the latest ROM/GSM combination "released" few weeks ago BT finally became stable and I pulled them out for another spin. To my greatest disappointment I could not adjust the neck strap anymore - it would not slide up or down along the ear butts wires. Closer look revealed that the wires got out of the protective nylon sleeve inside those sliding plastic leads to which neck strap snaps in. I spent an hour or more trying to pull the ear butts wires inside the sleeves ... no luck.
So I did not think for too long before I snapped the neck strap off. Now I am left with the 2 small plastic leads on each wire .... one below the mic and second below the phone button. Not a good thing to have, especially when you can't slide them. Few more minutes of hesitations and I cut those plastic leads / cups off. I ended up with a 3mm slack of wire stiking out of the sleev on one of them and I'm thinking of cutting the sleeve off completly, leaving the wires exposed as all other earbudds have.
I had the small clip which was attached to my older Jabra headphone and it sits very well on the headphones wire.
The adjustable neck strap was getting on my nerves anyway
I love the fit, the look, the sound quality, the battery life and the controls.

mine is not fake, sound quality is perfect, and the battery life is normal- around 5-6 hours. which totally sucks
My battery life is 5-6 hours on continual use (listening to audio books). I've accidently left it powered on for several days, but didn't use them - so in standby they do last awhile.
I know I have a good set, already bought fakes then real ones, but just curious what behaviour are you getting while listening to music and taking a call? Do the audio controls work ok after a call? Meaning Pause/Play? If I had audio going, make a call, then go to resume the audio - play, fwd/rev, and volume work. But it won't pause anymore. I have to go in and refresh on my 8525 to get all functions.
Battery life is good. Had the same problem with the strap not being adjustable after a few months. think it is a shrinking of the sleeve or something. darn pissed with it. brought it to the service centre and they replaced me with a new set.
Does the caller ID stuff work with the MDA VARIO II? Also does it notify you of missed call's and txt messages?
I was thinking of getting this but wasnt sure if it was compatable.
Also does the unit take AA batteries or do you just charge it? Also whats the battery indicator like, is it just 3 bars (personally i hate having very basic battery indicators!)
The caller ID shows the number only. No other indicator functions I noticed working on Cingular 8525. It has to be charged and seems to have more than just 3 bars ... maybe 4 but hard to tell just like that.
it shows number only with my 838 Pro, but with SE and Nokia handsets, it shows the name of the caller
Anyone know of a USB charger for the DS970?
I just got my DS970 headphones the other day (just two days before the DS980 came out, but that's life...). I like them a lot (sound, fit, function are great with all the patches, of course)
However, it bothers me that they come with a fat old wall charger and no USB charging cable. I try to carry no transformers with me when I travel and just have USB cables to charge all my gizmos from my laptop, but this gadget of course has its own weird connector (typical Sony) and no USB.
Anyone found a USB charging cable for this baby?
Can someone confirm that the DS790 works well with AKU 3.3 and up with WM5 and microsoft BT stack?
Does the song title show up? and does it tell you if text messages are received?
I have the Herald and it works perfectly. All controls work and all sounds (including the messaging sounds) are routed to the headset. Only thing worth noting on the sound is that when the phone rings, it will still ring loudly and the headset plays its own ringtone in the headphone (don't know why). My Herald is running WM5 with the default MS stack.
Song titles does not work and call ID only shows numbers, not caller name (which is stored in the contact list)

Works as advertised on WM6. DO not remember when I bought them, but see no rason it wouldn't work on WM5 - MS stack haven't change much. To answer the second part, may I refer you to the post #13 above.
I just picked up one off ebay...
I'm now a little pissed that they are fakes..
The quality is just fine for what I need them for except that playing music they work fine..
I play a movie.. NO GO..
Is there a reg setting for this? Anyone else experience this?
Again Windows Media Player MP3's work fine... MP4 Video.. it won't play though these.
Thanks,
Headset connection shortcut?
Anyone know a quick way to connect the 970 for Wireless Stereo use?
I have a Hermes running WM6, and can connect quickly to make phone calls using the button on the headset. But when I want to use it for music I am currently opening Comm Manager, selecting Bluetooth settings, and then selecting "set as Wireless Stereo" in the device tab.
Would love it to be automatically selected when I turn on Bluetooth.
Thanks

Does anyone uses Apple In-Ear Headphones for HD??

Anyone uses it for HD...?
Is it suitable????
I doubt you would get the mic working
there is no std how one do 3.5mm minijacks in relation
to having more then 3 rings
ground
left
right
how and where one add the mic or more is up to the maker of the headset and or phone
Iphone earphones should work but they're rubish so I wouldn't bother if I were you. Just get some Sennheiser MM50s if you want earphones with a mic.

Yes it works. I had a cheapo 3rd party one I got off ebay for my iPhone. Then I sold off my iPhone ( good riddance ), and still had the cheapo earphones lying around. So when I got my Touch HD, I compared the bundled earphones with the iPhone earphones, and noticed the rings were identically spaced. So i plugged it into my HD, and voila ! it works !
So while answering this post, I decided to try if the button on the earphone's mic works. Happily, it works. Single press answers a call, another press while a call is in progress puts it on hold, and a double click ends the call.
The cheapo iPhone earphone's quality sucks, but its perfectly adequate for taking phone calls.
Sometimes I use them for music if im on the go, since they have no mic, u have to talk into the mic of the phone, it's ok if u have to...
BUT I wouldn't recommend apple in-ear-headphones they suck, cuz they don't stay in place
bought one from creative for iphone.
fits weeell, just as soneric/walkman i get used to before. sound normal, mic, button functional.
bought two pieces just in case.
I tried to use BB Bold's headset and it worked great
It worked for making and receiving calls, and listening music
honestly i use cx300
changing to px100/200 i think they are better.
i used the Meizu m6 headphons too, they were good
I've got the apple in-ear earphones and the mic/middle button don't work. Any ideas?
i have tried apple earphone many times coz i got spare one and it works for accepting call, hangup call and everything as similary as htc original ones.
and i have orderd one of sennheisers mp50(something like this there is one for iphone typically designed for iphone by sennhieser) earphone let me see how it works it should be on the way.....

[Q] Headphone Jack

Is it just me or is the headphone jack, somewhat tight and also sensitive to changes in position? I mean that it takes a bit more effort than usual in order to plug them in, and yet if you pull them out even slightly, the phone will show that they have been disconnected. Is this normal for HTC Amazes or is it just mine in particular?
Although it isn't an extremely terrible problem yet, I'm worried that the jack will loosen and my headphone plugs will be able to move more freely, which would cause it to disconnect often.
Is this normal and should I be concerned?
P.S. I also seem to have an issue with the camera, it occasionally gives me completely blank/black photos when the flash stalls, as in the LEDs stay on for a few seconds before it takes a picture, and then provides me with a black picture. Is anyone else noticed this as well? I'm using Mobilicity Stock ICS, unrooted and S-On.

It takes alot to of energy to pull out also.
If you pull out slightly only the left ear will work.

Yeah, I know it takes a lot of energy to pull it out, but it would be annoying if the jack loosens up and it comes out slightly to the point where it would normally still be connected on normal devices, which would make it disconnect on the Amaze.

I dont think there is anything that can losen it up lol.
It feels like something locks on to it.
With the force it takes to put in the jack and take it out. I was scared one day I would break it. So I bought a bluetooth headset.
Sucks that beats audio doesnt work over bluetooth.

What annoys me though, is that between fully connected and half connected, the the jack will show up as disconnected. It shows as connected when fully in and half way in (with part audio) which intrigues and worries me.
EDIT: Can anyone else verify that the phone shows that headphones are disconnected if they are plugged in between fully plugged in and plugged in halfway?
I have a similar problem. The headphone jack is so tight that if I plug it in my stereo at home or in the car, it will randomly make a pop sound and stop playing music if I so much as touch it. Very irritating. It doesn't do that with headphones, but the jack is so small that I have to cram my headphones in haha. Then again, we should be thankful it's tight and not loose and awful like my old SGSII...

I hate the headphone jack, it's always halfway unplugging if it's barely jostled or touched. It's the one thing I can't stand about this phone design...for awhile I wanted to return it, but T-Mobile doesn't have a phone I'd rather have, haha.

Yeah, lol. At least the good thing about the headphone jack is that the jack is really tight so it keeps the headphones in. I'm just hoping that the jack doesn't loosen up over time.

lol hulk strength, nice. made me laugh. You're right though, anyone having suspected probs with the stereo jack should try to jam it in there. I was about to get a warranty exchange and be without a phone for 3 weeks. I read this forum, and used my hulk strength to jam the jack in there. My case was also slightly making teh jack not all the way go in.
Works okay now, thanks for sharing!

Hey, I know this is old, but my phone does the same thing. I always plug it into my FM transmitter while in my car, but if I spin the 3.5mm cord around in the jack (which I got used to doing, being a very fidgety person), it stops playing immediately. Is this what you've experienced? Has anyone found any information on it?
Thanks.
The headphone jacks at first are a bit stiff but after listening to music so much, they actually loosen up. It takes time to break it in. I don't think it will get too loose though unless you damage the phone.

sound Jack ...!
Hi everyone. Urgent replies are more appreciated. I'm having a bit issue regarding to head phone jack. All appeared just yesterday night . Now whenever I plugged in headphone I have to continuously push it to b able to listen from both ear pieces otherwise after simply putting in like normally v do , only left earpiece is working. Plz tell. What to do. Its X715e unlocked version. Plz tell. But if I plug it in half way just when headphone sign shows it is working fin but when I completely plug in so it works only with left earpiece. While another head phone HTC desire c .that is working fine and nice.
Make sure you don't have lint in it if you do a safety pin works wonders with a flashlight. Still don't work. Like in mine get different headphones. The stock iPhone headphones keep the connection but my other zagg headphones seems the plug is to long and doesn't keep a connection very tight. Only happens with headphones that have microphones. Hope that helps.

Headphone jack problems...

I got new headphones about a week ago (shure se535) and had been using them with my note for at least twenty hours already. Yesterday while walking to work I was using them with my note and they were working just fine, and same with right after. Then when I was getting ready for bed I wanted to listen to some music so I popped them in and picked a song and only the left side worked! so I threw them in my laptop and they both worked. Tried them in the note.. only the left works.
When I push on the headphone jack slightly to one side, the signal returns to the other ear.. I checked for lint in the hole but it still looked brand new. It seems as if the little connector inside the jack for the right side has somehow become almost flush with the rest of the jack, if not pushed in somehow. The weird thing is, when I tried it with the stock headphones with mic, both sides worked! wtf!. It doesn't make any sense lol.
What should I do? Send phone in for warranty repair? Has anyone else had similar problems?
It happens to me too. But it's random.
ParaNOTE Android
I had the same issue with my old Shure headphones the other day. The Samsung headset works fine with the Note. The Shures work fine with my laptop. It's intermittent though with the Note.
This is discouraging to hear. 3.5mm jacks have been in use for so freaking long that you'd think there wouldn't be any problems...
I'm worried that if I do go to Telus and get a repair done that they will say there is no problem and not even touch it. I wonder why my $500 shures out of the blue lost connection, yet the cheapo OEM headphones work lol. I'm very careful to not let anything put pressure on the jack when plugged in..
Sigh.

LG G5 connected to car audio unit. Not working...

OK so I'm stumped. Got my new LG G5 and it's pretty sweet so far but I'm running into a very weird issue that's kinda hard to explain. Basically it boils down to my G5 not being able to play audio through a normal 1/8 inch headphone auxiliarie input connected to my car CD deck. Before I got this phone I was easily able to connect my old phone to my car's aux input with the same cable and worked just fine but not with the G5. I tried the same cable with other speakers and the G5 plays perfectly though anything else. Other phones play just fine through my car's aux input. Only the G5 seems to send a signal that's very faint and has a lot of static on top of it. It's very strange. I do a lot in audio production and can't explain this unless the G5 outputs some weird audio signal that's not compatible with certain aux inputs lol but that seems ridiculous...
for what it's worth
I noticed that my volume all around is much higher with the G5. My G3 was much less loud. Is it possible that the signal is too strong and the car deck is therefore producing too much distortion - have you tried just lowering the volume on the G5? I'm hardly an Audio expert, but my current settings are all practically on the first notch above 0 for most notifications whereas on the G3 they were all in the middle.
I have also noticed the volume on the G5 is quite loud. I have tried playing through the car speakers at a lower volume and unfortunately I get the same static and weak signal.
Strange thing for me is that it connects to my audio Bluetooth adapter when I am nowhere near the car. I had to plug the adapter into a lighter adapter that shut off when the car does to keep this from happening.
If I can't get this thing to work just plugged into my car system I'll have to buy a Chromecast Audio and plug that into my car decks aux input. I just don't understand why it works everywhere but my car's aux input.
i'm getting more static than music with my g5...might send it back to get another one since i doubt this is a software issue?

your right, its only in my truck that i get that static noise. That is wierd af, so is this a hardware or software issue then?
So weird! I am glad someone else can attest to this happening! Really have no idea if it would be hardware or software at this point. The only thing I can think of is that the phone outputs a higher quality signal than my car stereo can handle? I have never encountered an issue like this before... I don't know what specifically could be making only car stereos not work with the G5. So weird...
