Ok before anyone starts raging, I've already searched around the forum and seen some say BLN is a battery drain and others saying it isn't. I'm curious as to what peoples experience has been with it on all the new 2.2.1 ROMs.

BLN Control....Theres A Free And Paid Version
It Dnt Drain Battery That Much..just COntrol it by using the app
MY sugestion USE noLED app it shuts off your soft buttons so they wont light up and noLED is way cooler PP
from what i've read from neldar himself (the guy the introduced the bln code, and created the bln settings app, and using the pro version you can control blinking, schedule when the bln on is implemented and when it isn't, etc), he's seen it only uses 0.85% of your total battery.

Care to share the reasons why? Thanks...
you guys are so paranoid about 1-3% battery life.
I'm using CM7, and i have bln set to always on (as flashing bln eats up more battery, plus the normal Cm7 stuf doesn't support blinking bln). I get ~45 hours of battery life. For those that think bln eats up battery, it's only placebo effect.

CM7 hasn't had any added in blinking support since about April. There is one kernel that doesn't use LEDNotify, but rather the actual bln code. But I will have my led lights on for hours at a time, sometimes the entire night, and I still get nice battery life.
As for Samsung roms, I compared both blinking and non blinking, and tlfor me the difference was negligiable (sp?).
But seriously, stop worry about these stupid 1-2% and enjoy your phone.

^ the question was posed before people KNEW how much of a % it took, lets not be harsh. Not sure how you are getting near 2 days of battery life. I assume you mean if you just leave it sitting... not a very good indicator for real life. I think 10 hours is more like it.
I've been using BLN control pro with bi-winning for a month or two now and have noticed no difference in battery beyond normal variance.
I prefer BLN to noLED because I was never able to get noLED to work consistently.

Ideas please! I've ran Evil Eris 3.0 for months and months and had no problems and loved it. I recently switched to KaosFroyo V37. I like it a lot but the battery life seems to not be so great. Looking for idea's on what rom you all think is the best for reliability everyday use and battery life. At work i get 0 bars or just 1bar. I know that's a huge problem but Evil Eris 3.0 was good other than if you turned the gps on it would stay on and you would have to re-boot to fix sometimes.
I run v37 too and have also had some battery issues. Does anyone know of another froyo rom with even better battery life? Note: my brightness is on the lowest possible setting and allegedly uses 70% battery... Also, ive found myself having to turn off 3g to make it to the end of the day. Lastly, when i get to about 90 percent full charging i get the green light. Any ideas?

same symptoms here.
Plain and simple, no matter what froyo you're using you are going to notice a significantly shorter battery life when moving from 2.1 to 2.2 and there is not much you can do about it. Are you using collins battery script? If not, that should help somewhat. Also, turn off auto sync and if OC'd, crank that down as well. Also make sure BT, and GPS are disable.
As for your LED lighting up when only at 90%, try to recal your battery and see if that does the trick - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780724&highlight=recalibrate
Nonsensikal is a great rom with great battery life.
I use my phone with minimal use I guess you would say, texting most of the day, couple calls, turning on 3G for 5 mins at a time to roam the internet/apps about maybe 5-10 a day. My battery lasts me about 2 days without a charge with that kind of use.
Great ROM, wonderful theme, and great battery life. Try it out.

Um 2.2 does not intrinsically have worse battery life than 2.1. In fact JIT is supposed to increase battery life. I am on Tazz froyo and I get like... at least 20 hours on a normal day. Slow days I can get 30+.
Make sure you're using the latest kernels.

I flashed in Conap's latest CFS kernel in KaosFroyo v37 and have no complaints. I have the screen set to drop the cpu to 245 when blacked out. It seems fine.
I haven't tried colin_ph's script yet but its on my to-do list.

From what I understand froyo is set up to give you the green led light while charging once you hit 90% charge. I think 2.1 was maybe 95% or 100% I can't remember exactly what it was. It's not a problem though your phone will still charge to 100% on froyo you just get the green light sooner.
Really? That explains a lot and now i know im not damaging my battery while charging after the green light. Thanks

I didn't see anybody else mention it so I thought I would throw this out:
Use "Toggle 2G" from the market with Froyo ROMs to extend battery reserve.
This (free) app shuts off the 3G Mobile network a (programmable) number of minutes after the screen is blanked, and turns it back on when you next light up the screen again. Having a few minutes delay is useful - if you fire off an e-mail, and the counterparty responds within that interval, you will get the notification (I'm thinking of Gmail/push here), but if you are ignoring your phone for an extended period of time, it is saving some juice. (Text messages are still delivered as they are 1x/RTT, aka 2G)
Toggle 2G never worked on my phone. Maybe I just didn't have it configured correctly.
Thanks, ill try toggle 2g now

I'm also wondering this same thing..I just ordered my eris and would like to find a good reliable rom that I wont need to change in the near future.
I wish there was like a poll or something setup as a sticky...though with version changes that might be kinda hard to maintain.
My advice:
Vanilla Froyo: Either Nonsensikal, or Tazz Froyo
2.1 Sense: Either XtrSense, or (preferably) xtrRCMix
2.1 Vanilla: Not a big fan of those so Im not even gonna say anything
2.2 Sense: Help out and be tester
Im running xtrRCMix and I LOVE IT. Great battery life and amazing Rom. BUT, flash the v6 CFS kernel for a near perfect experience with it

If you guys tried it out, and found a way to save battery can you please let tell us what you did to control it. I know its in beta version and is being tweaked on.

Yea Im using the same Rom. Hate to break it to you but the battery life on most all android devices sucks. I have had 5 different android devices and the battery sucked on all of them. didn't matter if it was stock or custom Rom. ether way these devices just have ****ty battery life. You can make it a little better by turning down brightness and messing with other settings but when it comes down to it. it still sucks! Just my 2 cents!

Did you recondition your battery after flashing? I've had pretty good battery performance with the Bali kernels. I also tend to use the KB1 modem. It seems to give me the best battery. But each phone is a bit individualistic, and what works well for someone may not work as well for next person.

This is untrue as I have owned an android device since the G1. The battery did suck on the G1, but by no means does the battery suck on every android device. My guess is you probably never calibrated your battery or you just used it very heavily. There's also the possibility that every rom you tried sucked on those devices. I have consistently gotten a full day or more with Bionix NextGen V2 with the Bali kernel with moderate to heavy usage. It is true if you lower the brightness, turn off wifi, bluetooth and gps when you aren't using it that it will increase your battery life though.
I have reconfigured the battery and have the brightness turned all the way down. Dont use WiFi but battery still sucks compared to other smart phones.

can any of you post a screenie of this rom pls
Battery usage is hard to compare since there are so many variables. In my experience I generally have better battery life when visiting my parents. The area I live in is somewhat of a black hole for signal and I notice more battery drain here with the same rom/kernal setup and similar usage pattern. I believe the weak signal here causes a higher battery drain over all.
Of course this might not apply to your situation but it could be worth considering.

I'm not going to argue with you, I'm just going to state what the facts are.
THE BATTERY DOES NOT SUCK, MOST LIKELY IS USER ERROR
Lol. It isn't user error. I think you might just use your phone more heavily than others. One thing you have to realize when comparing the battery life of the phones are a) battery size, b) screen size, c) smartphone or stone age phone, d)**** you've done to the phone including ROM's/Kernals/Apps/Sync.
Personally, on days that I am working, I get about 8-10 hours out of my battery before it dies. When I am not at work I get about 23 hours out of my battery.
what is the major difference between trigger 3.2 and trigger 3.3?
Try using overstock instead, I've had pretty good battery life with it.
Im running trigger3.3 beta with overstock and the battery is great.

bahaha you must be kidding. like someone else said, it depends on soooo many variables and phones. I was running trigger rom and overstock kernel and was going down about 1-2% battery every hour while screen was off. I listen to pandora every morning for an hour to hour and half and would go down 5%. I've sat on the web watching tv on TV shows stream app for about 1-2 hours and went down like 15-20% when brightness is lowered.
It's all about the brightness, killing apps that enjoy sucking battery life and enjoy run constantly, and running an OC/UV kernel. You can also change it from the usual 3g/H connection down to E (edge) which uses alot less power also. Turn off or turn down auto sync on certain apps like facebook from every 10 minutes down to every few hours.
The screen is the biggest power consumer, so lower that, set it to automatic or all the way down to lowest brightness to save quite a bit of battery when using the phone.
Usually the second largest power consumer (if ur not a huge user of just one certain app) is when the screen is off and the phone is syncing and just running android. the solution is If you can find a decent UV kernel (overstock for android 2.2 was what I was using when on 2.2), you can slow your CPU down. Like on my vibrant I made a profile (on the SetCPU app) to undervolt it from 1,000mhz down to a conservative 400mhz max and 100mhz minimum when screen is off. This is very easy to do. sometimes I'd watch shows on that. I usually left it at a conservative setting and 800mhz and 100mhz min all day long when screen was on, sometimes at 400mhz if i wasnt doing much. It worked wonderfully for me.
Moral of the story, there are plenty of things to make your phones battery last longer than it normally would. The big one probably to get a well known kernel that can UV, then get SetCPU and make a few profiles to make your phone use less power.
BOOM!
I'd like to know from the folks at XDA how much battery life (in hours) they get once they recharge the battery and turn on GPS (i.e. 100% active with a software--no screen off) until the phone shuts down from no energy.
I'd like to know what ROMS, kernels, etc you're using and how much battery life with 100% GPS with no down time.
For me, I'm getting about ~3 hours with TW 1.3.2 and Bali using Copilot GPS software. Screen at half bright. Battery is reconditioned.........Is this any good?.....

3 hours with GPS enabled constantly? And your screen on the entire time? Yes, that's very good.
I remember I used to have a Garmin that would last ~24minutes after I took it off of the charger.
Constant-running GPS is a massive battery drain. Having your screen running for 3 hours straight is an even bigger battery drain.
Get a car charger.

I fear always on may burn the LED...
I had a much faster rate with "Blink", but it doesn't work with Gingerbread... It was about two times faster!
What about Handcent? I know you can adjust the blink rate on notifications as a whole or per contact...
I was looking for a way to control LED colors. Thanks for the tip in LightFlow. Just set it up and it works great! Now when I see green I know what the notification is versus before it could be anything.

Never used blink so wouldn't know... and well... I highly doubt the led will burn out... they tend to have very long lives... if it burns I would prob say just really bad luck... its not a bulb afterall, its a LED... Not to mention the BLN app which is used on the galaxy s and galaxy s2 for the backlight leds of the softkeys to come on for notifications is based off that due to lack of any actual notification LED...
But its your call... I would just say look around for if keeping those leds on constantly will cause any harm... if not... go for it...

Well I didn't need to wait a couple days to report. I can already tell LightFlow is having an adverse affect on my battery life. I hate when things are too good to be true.

Haha... I agree I loved the app... but its simply a tradeoff... unfortunately battery life is more important for me...
Sent from my Motorola Atrix
Stock battery
I have done everything from Autostarts to managing my processes constantly. I played hanging with friends, got on here, and texted.
I posted an updated battery usage. I have lowest brightness, lowest image brightness, 15s timeout, etc.
i would probably switch to conservative governor vs powersave
This isn't typical battery life
I'd advice you to use better battery stats and cpu spy to se what's causing your battery to drain so quickly
Sometimes I notice "back up" in bbs, and this casus my phone to drain within a day
Hanging with friends does consume a lot of battery, but I play it too, and this does not cause that much drainage..
I have ICScrewed and with a heavy usage, my phone usually last for 1.5 ~ 2 days
With moderate call/text and idle, it lasts for 4 days.

Dang that is high! Are you sure about that? :O At medium usage /w unnamed i only get about 18 hours total. It was similar with ICScrewed too
Holy crap. I'll look into better apps. Could UnNamed be the culprit? Or the kernel?
Should I buy a new battery? The life waslike this for the few days I was stock, I think
I average around 17hr, on a good day I'll get 20h. I also recommend better battery stats, great app to see what's keeping your device from going to deep sleep.
Another great app is lbe privacy guard, you can deny certain apps and games some of the permissions they want (disabling GPS on those that really don't need it etc).
I'm on unnamed so that isn't the issue. Might be the kernel, just check the kernel wake clock in better battery stats to check. I'm on entropy's latest dd, while i do feel i got better battery life on the kernel with the latest unnamed ROM I'm not to sure if it's the kernel or something else.

Well, I guess it depends on how you define heavy and moderate... Haha

I'd be curious to see your graph. My battery is dead now, but tomorrow I'm going to get on and upload Better Battery Stats to my phone. I would've paid for it on the Market, but I couldn't find it when I searched. I'm curious to see what other people think. I switched all Powersaves to Conservative. Is OnDemand bad for my CPU as it constantly trips from 500MHz to 1.2GHz? Should I consider going to 1GHz?

I have a hard time believing that. I've done everything I can to optimize my phone and reduce wakelocks and battery drain, and I still never get more than 20 hours on a good day, and that's with moderate usage.
How do you define "heavy usage"?

I agree. This is my latest battery cycle of what I consider "moderate" use
What I'd consider light usage (about 10 minutes of voice, between 5-10 minutes of cellular data, 10-15 texts, and about 20 minutes of total screen-on time) I get about 35 hours.
I have managed to almost completely drain my battery in about 4 hours though... Thanks Game Dev Story!

I will make sure to post up my graph when it does drain
I think my definition of heavy usage is moderate use for most people..

I realized I forgot to turn off data when I'm not using it, but I installed better battery stats and I didn't really see any wake locks. Should I try a different kernel? Any opinions on an efficient one? NOTE: I already got the yellow triangle for using the Odin way, so I'm fine with doing whatever to this phone.
I added my better battery stats shots. I guess today would be called a very light to light day.

I see two very top wake locks have kept your phone from sleeping for an hour..
That is a significant amount.
Also, use cpuspy to see how hard it's been working.
I would try to get rid of those top two wake locks...
Oh crap! I didn't see them until you brought it to my attention. That explains some of the idle drain. I'll look into CPU Spy. You guys have been so helpful!
Your kernel wakelocks had no data, probably due to BBS being a fresh install. A full charge should set a proper reference point.

I don't think anything can be done about system logging as far as I have found.

If something's holding that many log wakelocks, something might be spamming a log somewhere.
I can't find anything to help with those two either. Or would seem that the keyguard might have something to do with text messages, but I can't see anything that would spam the log. Where might I be able to read this log?
Also, I'll post my CPU spy stats toward the end of the night. It's looking like it spends most of its time at 500MHz.
@wrathofnero You can remove the triangle with a usb jig. Worked for me.
