cache2cache - Droid Eris General

is there a cache2cache script for evil eris rom?

you should ask in XTR's cache2cache section. it currently works on ANY froyo/gingerbread rom, so if Evil eris is froyo based, then yes.
the other criteria is it has to have the ability to load scripts at boot. So KasoFroyo is one exception as of v39 it doesn't have this ability so it doesn't run.
otherwise all other Froyo or GB roms work fine.

It's been forever since I ran Evil Eris, but the 2.1 Apps2SD flashable script includes Cache to Cache ability. I don't recall what version of Apps2SD Evil Eris includes, but you'd have to update it to the latest [Script][A2SD] Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.3 Beta 02 (01/22/2011) since Cache to Cache didn't exist back when Evil Eris was last updated, that I recall.
Just flashing Apps2SD doesn't enable Cache 2 Cache, you'll have to use Terminal Emulator in order to issue Apps2SD commands to enable C2C. You don't have to use the Apps2SD capability itself in order to use it's C2C.
The OP states how to find out Apps2SD's commands in the second post in the above link. I've used it this way with Froyo ROMs before zach.xtr made his C2C script.

[Q]Getting App2SD working on rooted but non-custom Hero (sd-card partitionated)

Hello there
I'm reading here around the whole time about the things about rooting, custom roms and stuff. Since i've come yesterday to the Problem that
i've installed to much Applications and now have an 8 GB microSD Class 6 i wanted to put my Applications with App2SD onto my SD-Card.
As you might fear i want to ask how it will work, i've only found on the cdma-hero Section an how-to but since i have a gsm-hero i do not
want to brick it
Here are some Information about my Hero:
Firmware: 1.5
Baseband-Version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel: 2.6.27-mck-teknologist-1.91 [email protected]
Build-Number: 2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267 release-keys
Software-V: 1.0.0.A6288
i've already partitionated (is this the right spelling? Oo) my sd-Card with the RA-hero-1.5.3.1 Recovery IMG with the following Options:
swap: 512 MB
ext2: 512 MB
fat32 the rest of my 8 GB
After moving the apps and dalvik cache to sd i saw that i didn't had any applications so i have pulled out my nandroid backup which i made
before and now i have them back. And after that i've updated my RA-Hero REcovery Image to 1.6.2.
So how do i get App2SD working without installing a custom Rom?
Best Regards
Seelbreaker
Can I ask why you do not want to use a custom ROM?
What I suggest is you use MCR 3.2 using the link in my signature. Its very close to a stock ROM with a few tweaks for speed and stability.
And seeing that you already have the Amon Ra recovery it wont be difficult or time consuming.
Look up Titanium backup if you dont know what it is, use it to back up your apps and stuff to transfer onto MCR.
Found this... [Android] Apps2SD version 2.5... by doing a quick search, I think you would be able to put that on a pre-rooted stock ROM. You can get them from MoDaCo's Stock ROMs + radios in update.zip format for GSM Hero
Have a look around XDA for that APPS2SD application as you have to register at that other place for it.
Thank you ddotpatel for your response!
Well im just happy with the stock rom which i currently have and so far i didn't had any ambitions to use a custom rom. I've searched here around and found only app2sd in the hero-CDMA section:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670087&highlight=app2sd
currently trying to register on the page which gives the app2sd but the registration hates trash-mails -.-
I'm not sure but if I remember well, I had to put 0 MB for the swap

Indeed you are correct, swap should be 0 mb.
That Apps2SD *SHOULD* work on one of the pre-rooted stock ROMs but I cant be sure.
It does say
A2SD will not work on stock HTC Rom as stock roms do not have any method of launching A2SD in the boot image. Try one of the many custom roms available if you want to use A2SD.
but I think if you install one of the stock ROM update.zips through Amon-Ra it should be ok.
I dont really know. Sorry.
well then i have only 1 option waiting till 2.1 is out so that the devs could get the best out of the custom roms

can gscript/ and cache2cache be used....

on all 2.1 roms?
gscript can, not sure about cache2cache
thank you very much
Yes, AFAIK, at least any ROM that can install the [Script][A2SD] Darktremor Apps2SD, whether you intend on actually using the Apps2SD portions of the script or not. You should be able to use the script to activate Cache2Cache. I don't recall if I have ever actually used it on a 2.1 ROM because the only 2.1 ROMs I used for the longest time already contained the A2SD script and/or already contained the Cache2Cache ability or even usually had it set by default, but I did manually install this A2SD script under several Froyo ROMs in order to activate Cache2Cache. This was before zach.xtr released his Cache2Cache for CM6+.
I also had used the A2SD script to zipalign apk's I had installed.

[Q] How to install rom with data2ext enabled?

Hello, I Want to install a newer version of CM. Now I have CM7 RC1 with data 2 ext enabled. How to install nightly version of CM to keep my data2ext working?
Now I just flash a newer version with Rom Manager and always get the same space which I had with data2ext but the apps which were/are on data2ext are invisible and I cant open/find them...
eh, i'd like to know which is best too. i'm thinking...
uninstall apps (such that when data2ext is disabled, thereby "returning" apps to internal, your internal storage can handle the remaining installed apps)
disable data2ext
flash nb on top of existing
flash data2ext zip
enable data2ext
re-install removed apps from #1 via backup
wipe cache & dalvik, not sure if necessary though
haven't tried it as i usually flash roms after a clean wipe
Umm well I read this way on the Data2ext XDA page,
Not sure if its the right method, but I disable, flash rom, flash data2extra, enable. Works fine, but breaks widgets. Have to remove and re-add.

That method has worked for me, I've also done the following:
I updated Superuser the other day without disabling data2ext and everything stuffed up, I had to flash a fresh CM7 nightly build and then I had to flash Data2ext on again, I enabled it and it showed in Settings that I had my 800mb or whatever but there was no apps, so I went into CWM recovery and did an advanced restore from an older nandroid backup (that had Data2ext working) with most of my stuff, I restored the Data and SD Ext only, not System or anything so that I still had the new nightly build, booted up and bam, everything was back, with the new nightly.
I'm not sure what's easier, but I didn't have to re-add widgets the second way, and I 'think' it should work, but I haven't tried again since as no nightly has been worth updating to yet.

[Q]Noob 2.2 to 2.3.X

Hi,
I'm current on Project-V, rooted, with "ClockWorldMod Recovery V2.5.1.3 - Voodoo Lagfix (ALL IN RED)"
I want to upgrade to:
[ROM][AOSP][2.3.5] NoFrills-AOSP
OR
[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Vibrant :: V7.1.0.1
until today I Just put the new ROM (2.2) on my sd card and make:
wipe cache partition
wipe data \ factory reset
wipe dalvik cache
AND install zip from sdcard
Now I read that there is the BL issues which different between 2.2 & 2.3.
Can some direct me for what is the right steps for upgrade...
Thanks A lot.
Cm 7 works fine with froyo bl so you did Not have to worry about that

All Samsung Roms run on top of BML/RFS, CyanogenMod 7 does NOT.
It runs on MTD/yaffs2 (like Nexus One) which means you'll not able to flash just any kernel or run just any other filesystem you want. Use it as it is if possible, otherwise confirm with the kernel developer that you are trying to install whether it would work with CM. We do not support other kernels and know nothing about their capabilities or compatibility. Only the data partition, which is on movinand, is ext4 like on speedmod or voodoo ("lagfix"). No "lagfix" is necessary because this does not use any Samsung proprietary file systems.
First time flashing CM 7 to your Vibrant (or coming from another ROM)?
Easy way:
Start with a rooted Eclair/Froyo running Eclair/Froyo Bootloaders (do not ask us how to do this).
Install ROMManager Premium.
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Pick Vibrant (MTD) (ignore the warning about not having an official, pick ClockworkMod 2.x).
Make sure you can reboot into ClockworkMod recovery from ROMManager. Reboot and get back into ROMManager Premium.
Choose download ROMs.
Pick the CyanogenMod Nightlies.
Check the Google Apps addon.
Check Backup current ROM!
Check wipe data, cache, dalvik cache.
Let ROMManager finish the installation.
Hi.
Thank you both but i still didn't understand how to do this
1. I don't think i have ROM with 2.3 Bl
2. I don't know how to install one
