Hey, so, I got asked to choose a default app for emailing when I pressed on a contact shortcut and I accidentally hit the messaging app. I'm wondering if y'all know how to clear the defaults for that because I can't find it.

So I'm trying to figure out the point to the blacklist feature in Handcent. I know it hides all the texts that are on the list, but they are still accessible via the stock messaging app no problem. Is there a way to stop the stock app from showing particular messages, or disable the stock app all together? Just seems like a pointless feature to have if it is bypassed so easily.
remove the stock app from your phone, with root explorer

I wouldn't advise that. Isn't the stock MMS app tied into the framework? I believe this would kill your ability to send and receive messages.
I think the blacklist is to block who ever u want from texting you.

This is pretty much what it does .. I have done it.

I always wondered if that was possible without breaking something....
With launcher pro you can hide it in the hidden apps list..or on adw just put it on your homescreen then.hold it then edit then change the name and change the icon then take off notifications

Launcher Pro allows you to hide applications and in the stock messaging app go to settings and disable navigation notifications. Problem solved.
Edit: I missed the post above mine.

if u are looking just to hide dome text so your partner wont find out....you need to download sms guard on the market ,install and go to settings and put a password do no one wont getting......that works perfectly....now the only problem is if the sent u a multimedia message it wont block ....hope it hepls
I've tried the blacklist from handcent myself but really didn't like it nor worked for me that well. Now I'm using blaclkist app from the market. Much better than the blacklist that comes in handcent.

Im having an issue deleting contacts from my phone. When i click on there profile it does not give me an edit button to delete. Do i have to delete them from gmail and fb also? I unlinked them from fb and deleted from google contacts and its still thete and not giving me an option to delete.
While viewing the contact, hit the menu soft key. It will bring up a few options, delete being one of them.

That's odd. I know I'm on a different device, but through my roms it's always been there.
Sorry I couldn't help, try the rom thread.

Hey Folks, is there a way i can replace the stock Messaging app with goSms, on my first page on my phone it has the stock meeaging app, but i cant replace it
Launch your app tray from your home screen and press the menu key. Select edit. Drag the stock SMS app off, drag GoSMS on. Select the menu key again and then select save.
What do you mean launch the app tray?
I have TouchWiz btw.

The blue icon that says Applications on the dock next to the icon you want to replace opens your app tray.
Ohh that lol
Sorry
Thanks buddy, all sorted now.
Much appreciated.

Anytime! I did the same thing with GoSMS when I first got it.
QuickPic used to be my default viewer for sending mms, So for some reason it changed and now when I send texts with a mms, the quickpic app no longer appears, and now its back to the OEM gallery. I can't figure out how to set quickpic app back as the default viewer for my txts.... Anyone else who uses quickpic have this happen recently or know how to set it back?
Is this something I can set in the app settings/manage apps ?

applications>Manage applications>'All' tab in top row>scroll down to gallery.
under launch by default, tap clear defaults. see if that does anything
Hey thanks didn't think about doing that to the gallery app , I thought it was with the QP app.
Edit: well that didn't work lol. "No defualts set"
Also no data to clear or cache.
Gonna research and try again later

Uninstall and reinstall the app. Don't move the app to the SD. And be sure you set that app as default.
Chuck Norris can but Walker Texas Ranger can't.
Damnit ... That didn't work either.
I don't think it's a QuickPic thing,
I'm not getting the window that asks which app I want to use for completing action.
Thanks for Angel help or advice.

Brand new phone, maybe I made a mistake on setup but doubt it. Why is gmail not my default email upon clicking 'email dev' in the play store, instead it goes to my yahoo pop accounts?
Thanks.

Open your regular mail app(NOT the gmail app, but make sure you are on your gmail account obviously), then click on the "menu" button, then click "settings", then click "general settings", and then you'll see a check box that says "make default account"
No luck. Clearing defaults button appeared to initially work until I tested it, no prompt for action, went straight to yahoo. Second option didn't work either, general settings for mail shows a greyed out checkmark for default app and does not allow me to uncheck it, no option for default in gmail.

Mine is set to "compose mail" under app associations. I dont use the gmail app so I didnt check the compose gmail option. The way I suggested earlier should have worked for you. Thats really weird. Did you do the same steps I listed for your other email accounts to make sure that one of them wasnt checked off as the default account?
Either way, as long as your problem is resolved its all good. Im just curious as to why the other way wouldnt work.

Glad I could help. HTC made that menu to get around the Apple patent issue
