Does anyone know if it's possible to use the stock notification bar/drop down on Eugene's Frankin-Twiz? I would assume it's just a matter of grabbing it from one of the earlier roms, but I'm not too sure on the specifics of how to do so.
I assumed it was just a matter of editing the framework-res, but like I said, not too sure which file(s) it would be.
Am I completely wrong in thinking this is possible? Thanks!

Hi,
do you mean just the matte black instead of glossy bar along the top of the screen? Or the pull down menu showing you current notifications? Or Both?
If just the first, its only one or two drawable files in framework-res.apk, if the latter (pull down on its own or with the top bar too) then its files in both framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk, not too hard to figure out really.
My beta vertical battery mod for franken-twiz (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758797) includes most of the changes, and I can post a twframework-res.apk to revert the rest, but be warned, I switched to the non-glossy touchwiz drawable files that come with every other Galaxy S phone, stupid samsung/t-mobile decided our phone needed to be "shinier" than the rest of the series =(.
Cheers,
=)

Hey thanks for the response! I actually really like your work!
I guess to make it easier to explain, the only thing I don't like from Frankin-twiz is when you pull the bar down, where it says "T-Mobile" and "No notifications" or "Ongoing" ... the text doesn't exactly fit in the area.
And I do prefer the matte look over the glossy, so that's probably why I like your stuff!
Edit: Disregard the question about pushing via ADB. I see your instructions in the other thread.
Okay I got the bar taken care of and it looks great! Thank you for that.
Now I'm about to do twframework-res.apk so that it matches, but before I do, does it go in /system/framework as well and do you recommend clearing the cache partition and dalvik-cache afterwards?
Well I got it and it looks perfect! Thanks so much for your help and work!
Edit: Ran into an issue. Whenever I try to download/install from the market, I get a Force Close on com.android.vending. Any idea why? I wasn't getting that problem before.

Hi,
Not sure about any FC issues, market works fine for me.
That said, however, usually FC issues from mods like this can be fixed by running a repair permissions in rom mamager, then rebooting into clockwork mod and clearing the cache and dalvik-cache.
And also, I ALWAYS recommend clearing the cache/dalvik-cache after any mod.
Cheers,
=)

You could also go into settings, apps, manage, market, and uninstall updates..
I don't understand how this happens to ppl... Happened alot with htc devices but never on my sammy yet...
Edit: Thanks Junk, didn't see your post before my last response. That took care of the problem. I wonder how that happened, either way, thank you!
Can anyone recommend a screenshot app that they KNOW works on the Streak ?
I've just tried to take a screenshot on my Streak with drocap2 and PicMe, both resulted in a picture with either a nasty red or purple tinge to the image :/
i have shootme
Confirmed. Shootme works on my 2.2 streak as well.
Saw the comments about ShootMe, which states it requires root. Are you saying that it works without root on Android 2.2 on the Streak? Or are your phones rooted?
I have a Backflip with stock 2.1 (not rooted) and they somehow left the permissions set so that Shootme and PicMe work, so I know it is possible to use these on some phones without root.

I am on Steve's 1.5.1, which is rooted.
I use screenshot works good. Not sure if I was using it when streak wasn't rooted though...

Working on my Streak:
Screenshot by Gik Soft
drocap2 - if you are using Streakdroid 1.9.0 check the box 'swap endian' in preferences.
These require root.
Both work fine and don't have the color issues of other screenshot apps.
drocap2 has no exit feature. I have to kill it when done in manage applications. I keep it because I like the notification bar trigger it includes.
My streak info in attached image. (taken with drocap2)
I am running 318 with perfmod.
I usually use the android sdk 2.2,the other apps don't seem to work that good for me,all I get is a blue upside-down image with capture.

Could you post what ROM, etc. you are running? When did you try the apps (latest version or older version)?
Screenshot by Gik Soft, works very well no funky colors, although when I try to see the capture is upside-down.Weird but at least I don't need the computer and colors look fine.Running 318 as well without the performance patch.
Thanks for sharing this.

the upside-down "feature" is due to the fact that the lcd in the streak is mounted upside-down, i read that somewhere in these forums
That's funny, these guys at Dell should start releasing some updates to fix some of the bugs.I had two android phones before none of them had the bugs the streak has.
Seems to me the streak rom has been made by a new rom cook, specially when it comes to deleted videos and thumbnails.
Thanks for your reply.

My first two Android phones had many more issues than the Streak.
I got fed up with AT&T's android offerings and tried another carrier and two other phones. Including my wife's Captivate I have personally used 5 other android phones besides the Streak and out of the box the Streak is the best that I have used.

this worked perfectly for me. maybe DJ Steve could come up with a fix for the upside down lcd?? that would be wonderful, but if not, using drocap2 and the preference fix fixed it all for me. thanks
So at least there was one request for this so here it is. I tested it and it seems okay. This is based on Ken's 2.1 GreyBlur which I think is still on ATT's 1.57 rom, it does work on 1.83 though. Just like the gingerbread only theme, everything is stripped out to just basics.
Although I tested it, I am not keeping this theme, I prefer gingerbread look. So if you find some issues, post here maybe I can take a look. I am not that great a editing either, just learning.
Thanks to Ken for the rom base, and for jim and noattch for various editing tips!

V2 - based on greyblur 2.1 (att 1.57) but works on 1.83 tested
preferred: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VBYT7BX3
mirror: http://www.multiupload.com/EDPGZ06NS1
- updated with gray menu text so works on third party apps like root explorer.
Add On
Themed Mms.apk with darker grey icons so it shows over the light grey status bar. Backup your old Mms.apk.
- Flashable zip for the Mms.apk only --> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KD1154LB

V1 - based on greyblur 2.1 (att 1.57)
preferred: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4PASFIB9
mirrow: http://www.multiupload.com/A1ZSSWSIDE
- first boot takes a while, there isnt a real bootanimation so all you see is the GreyBlur text for a long time, but don't worry it's working lol.
oh i forgot, in the next version I'll update the menu text so it appears correctly in third party apps, sorry about that.
Hey, I was the one who made the request, you are AWESOME. Installing this now, can't wait for the updated version so I can use my apps right haha.
Btw, what widget is that in your notification bar?

How do I install this? Do i just flash it over Gingerblur using Recovery mode?
Yep. That's how it works.
Thanks

Wait...so is this the GreyBlur theme from the quasi-rom, or is it the batman theme in OP's pics?
yes its the greyblur theme from that rom, the "batman" is just my personal wallpaper
Nice! Thanks. After pushing the GingerBlur update, I don't think Ken is going to get to a GreyBlur update for a while...this is the next best thing.

My only gripe is when I flashed the theme.zip, when I get a new text it doesn't show the message icon, it only lists the name of the person sending it and a message. Other than that, incredible work.
Edit, I take that back, it's just really really really faint. If you could somehow make the icon black, it would show up perfect.
Is no one else having this problem?

App icons are controlled in their separate APKs. This theme is just for the system, it doesnt theme apps. Sorry. You can change it yourself though, pull the app from your phone (system/app/*) and go into the drawables folder, and replace it. then push the apk back where it came from.
EDIT: or much easier, just rip the proper text messaging APK from the greyblur rom and push it to your phone now, pretty simple. Keep in mind it will be on 1.5.7 since i dont think he updated greyblur to 1.83 yet, but I doubt much has change just in the messaging app.
Edit2: updated OP with themed mms.apk
I dont have this problem because I am using a third party messaging app, Handcent.

please read my post above. This theme does not theme apps.
I read what you said. I just need some clarification as to what you mean by the 'messaging app'. The one I know is the messaging APK for greyblur 2.1. Yes. I know about that one.
So are you saying to pull the messaging app from greyblur 2.1 and replace the gingerblur one located in system/app ???
will that fix the message notification in the notification bar?

go into the greyblur rom, look inside system/app for the messaging APK. That one is themed for greyblur. Just replace the one you have now with that and it should be okay.
Can you also take a screenshot so I can see what you mean.
when i look in the files for greyblur, i can't find the messaging one. on gingberblur it's labeled mms.apk and is 513KB. on greyblur i saw one that says messaging.apk however that one is only 28kb.
i'll take a screenshot and show you what i mean.
Can i use theme zipper on the stock xt720 rom?
All i really wanna do is get the black bar across the top lol
and ive been having way to many issues with other roms.
If you are only applying one thing, you can just use Metamorph from the market (rooted). Then go to Droidpirate.com and find you notification bar you want and follow the dorections.
Quick and easy. Zipthemer can do multiple changes as once in an update.zip style.
ty sir!! you just saved me from bricking my phone again i think
K so i just had a issue i applied a notification bar and now i cant see the time. lol. everything is black. Any idea's. I already tried to reapply the thing. dident work.

What version of Android are you using? Stock to me means 2.1 from Motorola, but I'm realizing that now people may mean Dexter's 1.3 as released by Cincinnati Bell.

IIRC changing the clock color can't be done by a theme, you have to edit the framework. Or something like that. What version of Android are you using? Stock to me means 2.1 from Motorola, but I'm realizing that now people may mean Dexter's 1.3 as released by Cincinnati Bell.

The clock color is contained in the services.jar file. You would probably also need a modified xml in framework-res that controls the ticker text (e.g. the text that flashes on the statusbar when you updated an app from market) & the color of the date that displays when the status bar is expanded.

Funny how that works. It's like Prime Rib being the new Ham for Xmas dinner.
It worked with all the updates til now? Anyway to get it working?
SystemUI, probably just got some updates. Have you tried adding your .pngs to the new systemui.apk? Still no go?

I was running the blue soft keys and now when I put them back in sytem/app I get force closes and the entire nav bar disappears. Any ideas? I really hate the skinned look Asus puts on them. Thanks in advance.
Swiftks hit the nail on the head, there were some changes to the SystemUI that breaks older versions. (I know, captain obvious over here) Give the developer of the theme a chance to update the PNG files, or do it yourself. I ran into the same problem yesterday and copying the PNG files I wanted into the new SystemUI.apk fixed it.
I'm not sure how to do that. The nav keys I was using are just stock ICS blue. If you or anyone happens to have a link to some I could use with the updated files that would be fandamntastic. I can't seem to find the thread where I downloaded them from. I know they were on XDA but I've been searching since yesterday. Thanks again

Make sure to copy to correct folder, and select "store" for the compression method, that way they are not compressed.

Yes, I am putting the file in system/app and the file is not compressed. I've done this with each of the updates and now it doesn't work. I was thinking it may be because Asus added the lock function to the nav bar. Once again if anyone has another file they could point me too that would be awesome. I can't find the thread that I got my ICS blue buttons from.
