You flashed wrong kernel.
EDIT: I made it short above just to let you know im trying to help. You flashed a kernel for GT-i9000, the international model, not SGH-T959, our Vibrants. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929 and download USB driver for your PC. Then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821625 and download Odin v1.7. And go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480 and download one of Odin flashable .tar Voodoo kernels, KA6, KA7 or KB1 preferably. Try match it with your ROM just to be safe.
Install the USB driver. Then extract Odin3 v.1.7.rar and run the executable. Leave Odin open. Turn off your phone by pulling out battery, plug USB cord to your phone and to your PC, press and hold volume up and down buttons, and insert battery. You should be in Download mode, and Odin will recognize your phone and display a COM#. Now click on PDA button and select the .tar file you downloaded earlier. And press Start button and wait untill everything is finished and your phone reboots.
The initial boot may take a bit as Voodoo will convert your filesystem into ext4. You will hear voice telling you what's going on. And you should be good to go.
Just in case above instruction doesn't work (I personally never flashed an i9000 kernel), try reverting everything back to stock. Doing so will require a couple of additional files.
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 and download JFD Odin Image and 512 PIT file. Extract PIT file first. Then launch Odin, put your phone into Download mode, and in Odin press PIT button and select the 512 PIT file you just downloaded. And press PDA button and select JFD .tar file. This time make sure Re-Partition option is selected. And press Start. This take a bit longer than just flashing a kernel, but no longer than 5 minutes. Once you're back to stock (original released in July 2010), flash any other ROM of your choice.

I did the exact same thing just a few days ago. I asked on this forum and got some great help. I downloaded the new Odin Software v1.3 and also downloaded the stock Vibrant software. Put them all on your computer, extracted, and hold down just the 2 volume keys then plug in your usb cable. This will put you into download mode. Look in the Odin program and it should recognize your phone, if it doesnt then youll have to download the drivers again. Its in the Vibrant Bible. After all of that upload the Rom to the pda section in Odin and make sure you dont click anything else then push start. This will take a few minutes to load then your phone will reboot and your back to stock. This worked for me hope it works for you.
Thanks everybody, I used Baywolf's, hope his name is spelled correctly, Vibrant toolbox and got into Odin and reflashed my phone back to 2.1 stock, them Samsung Kies to 2.2 stock. Thanks for the replies
im having the same problem except that when i reflash my phone to stock and try to turn on my phone again it wont...i have to reflash it everythime i want to turn it on and it deletes everything everything

Alright, here's the breakdown.
-I was on 2.1 Bionix Final R1
-Tried flashing beta 4 voodoo 2.1 kernel while on OCLF.
- wouldn't boot
-tried to ODIN
-Odin failed becuase i got Data Wipe Failed
-Tried the ODin that doesn't brick, didn't work, got into recovery there, and got stuck,
-tried odining the JFD after this...failed.
What do? I need my phone badly, i keep getting "Data Wiped Failed" and black screen at boot, i can get into recovery but nothing i do works...
Open odin. ALWAYS OPEN IT FIRST. Take out battery, plug into Odin, hold down volume rockers and power. Without letting go of these buttons, put the battery back in. Your phone should show up on Odin and you should be able to revert back to stock
Sent from Bionix powered vibrant! If I helped, hit the thanks button!
Try odining again, but load the 512 pit file and try checking the repartition box on the left of the screen.

This is correct, if the phone doesn't go into recovery. If it can Then:
1. Odin 1.3 or higher I use 1.7 but not real important
2. Download original Vibrant rom
3. You will need the .pit file (this is for mapping) Try using the 831 pit file if 512 is not working for you
4. you will Eugene froyo that does not brick rom.
The order is as follows:
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. Open Odin, plug in your phone, then put it into download mode.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
6. DO NOT check 're-partition'.
7. Click start, let it finish. Your phone will load and reboot into stock recovery. It will error out again. DONT panic! This is what's supposed to happen.
8. Now, pull your battery.
9. Download the 'True stock 2.1 firmware for the vibrant'.
10. Extract the files.
11. Once again, open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode.
12. Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
13. THIS TIME you want to check the 're-partition' box.
14. Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine! You will have flashed back to the original software. From there, you can do anything,
The sbl could be an issue but this should get around that problem if not then may need to use adb .
Just make sure to remove sim and sd card if you havent all ready i would get the same error when i had those two still in my phone.
please check repartition first option to check from left an dall the other two options => also two more options below like clear cms

Follow the same steps you just did with ODIN with the DL09 file and the PIT file, but this time you also need to put a checkmark in the re-partition box under option all the way to the left of the start button. That box needed to be checked in order for the PIT file to fully do what it is supposed to do. Reboot after flashing the DL09 and Atlas 2.2 pit files in order to let the stock DL09 fully load with the repartitioning. Then you can power down phone, pull battery, flash the CWM file in ODIN, pull usb cord, put battery back in, boot directly to CWM by holding volume up, volume down, and power buttons, then wipe data/cache/dalvik cache and flash whatever ROM you wanted to go to, whether that is CM7 or MIUI.

Hey guys sorry for my noobiness, im actually a MT4G user but my brother is having trouble with his vibrant.
The Vibrant was rooted and had roms flashed on it, and became bricked bad enough where i could not reach recovery mode. I ran ODIN on it but it flashed to an AT&T Rom with the AT&T bloatware and what not on it with the boot screen. So it isnt allowing to connect to any mobile networks.
What i was wanting to do was simply just root the phone again since this rom wasnt rooted that ODIN installed, that way i could just restore a backup and bam. But I have the device rooted and rom manager installed, but i cannot get clockwork to flash properly. Rom manager shows that the recovery was successfully flashed but boots into the stock recovery. I try to reinstall packages like youre suppose to and i constantly get the verification error. Ive tried numerous update.zips and none will verify correctly.
All i need is to get into clockwork or another recovery so i can restore a backup. Any suggestions? Thank you for the help in advance. Sorry if this is confusing
odin to stock as 2.1 is alot easier to work with then 2.2, then follow these instructions:
power off phone
pull out battery
GRAB THIS STUFF : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper tar file in pit and the .pda file in pda in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
Once ur there flash clockwork as it will be easier u may have to reinstall packages twice for it to turn from blue to green. then go from there
Thanks Movie! Worked like a charm
Ok so today i finally figured out how to root my Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 3g+(Telus and now as I'm going through trying to install custom roms i see that it only uses 3e and not CWR
Is there any solution to my problem and yes I have been looking around the forums for a almost 3 hours and now have become mildly enraged seeing no support for my phone
well, I have been going through alot of the same stuff with my Telus fascinate too.I don't think im capable of writing a full guide, but I can tell you the basics about how I got to CM7 with a working stable kernel.
First Odin back to stock 2.2
A. Download Odin (attached) and the Telus JL3 stock files http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C3DQ1LZF
B. Open Odin, and put the files in the appropriate boxes
s1_odin_20100512.pit in "PIT"
T959TLJL3-REV03-ALL-low-CL763100.tar.md5 in "PDA"
T959TLJL3_FROYO_Phone-CL763100.tar in "PHONE"
SGH-T959D-CSC-TLSJL3.tar.md5 in "CSC"
C. Boot into download mode by turning phone off, then holding "Volume Down" while connecting the phone to the computer
D. The first "ID:COM" box should turn yellow and show a numerical COM port
E. Click "Start" and wait for it to finish and reboot, and unplug the phone after the yellow box turns green and says "PASS"
next
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GJCCIU4N
Odin this file using the "pda" part of odin. Let your phone boot up and go through the voodoo lagfix. Once your booted up, it might be a good time too root your phone again.
also this might not be needed, but if you get no service once your on your custom rom.this can help.
So while still on stock, download an app called "nitrality" perform an efs backup. Then copy the "insanity" folder from your phone to somewhere safe.
ok, now that your rooted and have a cwm recovery, reboot into recovery and flash the custom kernel zip found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18268484&postcount=3865
CM7_SGS_20111009_NEO_17-voodoo-col_BLN.zip is what I use
pull battery and reboot into recovery once more. From there flash your rom, CM7 in my case.
http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=galaxysmtd
After installing the rom, again reflash the platypus kernel, and your all good to go.
If you have no service, then put that "insanity" folder on your phone, install nitrality and perform the efs restore.
Sorry for the all over the place guide.

Okay, as the thread title states and as I had searched for a Samsung Vibrant related thread about this issue I haven't found any. So, as one can see this is evidence of my attempt at rooting and using Clockworkmod Recovery.
What I used was SuperOneClick 2.2 and successfully rooted my phone but then I decided to unroot after finding out ClockworkMod Recovery wasn't able to create a backup on my phone, also, I used a 3e_recovery_installer batch file I found somewhere which managed to unlock my Android system recovery so I could get into Clockworkmod Recovery but ever since I unrooted and uninstalled Clockworkmod Recovery it won't allow me to perform a factory data reset. I was able to do it TWICE after unrooting my phone but now I can't perform the factory data reset and I do not understand why.
Have you tried to odin back to stock or use the toolbox?

Never used Odin or Toolbox before because I've never found a concrete tutorial on how to correctly flash/root my vibrant. I would like to flash but I just don't feel safe about it even though I had downloaded a supposedly stock rom of the UKVD1 rom for Vibrant.

Erm, I used the Toolbox to use "Flash to Stock" and when Odin opened up I selected Pit.pit and it showed a yellow to green color on the first box and my phone turns off then nothing happens. What does this mean?
1. When odin opens select pit
2.click the Pit.pit file after screen change and click open
3.You should be returned to odin main.
4. click pda
5.click pda file and click open.
6.you are returned to main odin.
7.set phone down, click start and do not unplugg
8 let it run till pass, and auto reboot

I did all that just now but now I'm stuck on a looping charging screen or a looping Samsung Vibrant screen. However, this isn't the same as the original T-Mobile screen and even so how do I get past the looping screen?
1. pull the battery
2. insert the battery
3.hold down volumeup/ volumedown buttons
4. insert the usb cable, you should enter download.
5 reset toolbox and select flash to stock, odin should appear,
My experience.
When you are facing boot loop, it's very hard to get in to download mode.
I tried button trick for download mode, but I failed.
So I used adb and tried to reboot into download mode by command.
I repeated it until I could get into the mode.
Anyway, download Toolbox and once u get into the mode,
try to go back to stock. That 'll fix everything.
I also know that the logo changed after I flashed back to stock.
I faced I9000 logo which wasn't before.
FYI: + the version will be eclair, and I couldn't get the official update.
Anyway good luck.

If you never get into download mode.. Try to use JIG.
Another way is to disassembly your phone and do something.
I suggest you buy a JIG.
Problem is, I can easily get into Download mode by:
1. Remove USB Cable
2. Pull battery and re-insert
3. Plug in USB cable
4. Hold Volume - and +
And it's in Download mode
But I want to get the original Smasung Vibrant 2.2.1 UVKD1 Rom back on but it appears the provided files aren't it?
Btw, what is a Pit and and PDA file supposed to be, I'm a complete noob at this point.
The pit and pda files in aio toolbox are the stock rom the vibrant is shipped with, if you want anythig else on it you have to download it and flash it through odin, rom manager, or cwm.

I see. But now when the phone starts up it shows a buncha dots in consecutive order to the Samsung Vibrant screen after I flashed to stock using the pit and pda files and it just loops continuously until I pull the battery. Is there anything that can be done to get past the looping?
Does the pitcure look like a phone....!....computer? If so then you are softbricked and just get back in download mode and re-Odin, but make sure that when you Odin, you DO NOT have the repartition checked. Probably what happened.
If it is not the above, can you get into recovery? Can you now do a factory reset? Wipe cache, dalvik and reset usually clears the bootloop problem.

I used the AIO Toolbar for Vibrant as provided by the link by the person earlier. The loop just continues forever and ever until I remove the battery.
The three button method of entering recovery hasnt worked?
You mean hold Power and Vol + and -?
No, it doesn't work.
i am hesitant to advise anything, the fact that factory reset didnt work, and recovery has been removed is troubling. when i get a fail message when flashing to stock ive used eugenes froyo that does not brick. If all else fails you might google it and read the op. Its a pda file used by odin.
What I find strange is that download mode works perfectly fine but nothing else.
what I find strange is coming out of odin and looping, you should come out in recovery with an error message. a cannot mount data or bdata. storage not ready. Removing recovery may have removed more than was expected. check the op on eugenes froyo you have to get back to stock.
