So, now after managing to get webtop via hdmi with no dock and able to run commands while logged in as adas. I'm wondering could we create a session so that we could see webtop on a regular laptop running x11?

So, I was thinking (famous last words)... would it be possible for my nook color to completely duplicate my evo 4g's display and touchscreen (basically an android device with a vnc connection to another android device)?
I'd envision the network connection would be via wifi, most likely with the wireless tether feature on the evo. The purpose would be to use the nook color's larger display as a more car accessible way to access the phones apps, music, dial pad, etc.
It will work, but not without some issues. You can find Droid VNC Server on the market (free) and use any of the available clients. I use Wyse Pocket Cloud Pro, it's not cheap at $15, but honestly, it's worth the money if you need to VNC often. But the free version will certainly work too.
Run the server, and connect with the client. The main issue you'll run into is replicating the soft buttons for navigation. You'd need something similar to what he have on the nook with soft buttons on the status bar. Otherwise it seem to work fine.
This is what I do to connect my android from any other device that can run a VNC viewer/server and vice versa:
1. You need to have root access on your host device (if its android).
2. Get "droid VNC server" for free from market and run this on your evo.
3. There are a lot of VNC viewers but one I find that works well is "androidVNC" from market (free of course) which you install on your NOOK.
4. Profit.
Thanks! I'll have to try these out to see how usable they are.
Hmm is there no new client app to have the Android buttons (home, back...) from the android server device on my client ?
Hi I recently read that I can use adb wireless to connect my phone to my pc, this said, I accomplished it, fine.
Problem is, how and where do I Tx and Rx files from pc to sgs2 and vice-versa, OR from what I can gather (using the dos prompt) can this 'only' be done via the dos prompt.
Apart from development whatelse can be done with adb, (the only reason I was interested in adb was for the app adb wireless tauted as a file transferring app via wifi; I had expected maybe a splash screen or something, but I realise I've fallen into a user developement app.
Also can anyone recommend a good file share app, I now have the full websharing app, yet I had hoped it would be more than what it is, given I have to ctrl+alt and highlight all I want to tx<>rx; I would prefer drag-drop, or an ability to highlght with mouse action.
Any light on the above would be appreciated.

Is there a known API or method of accessing phone side data from the webtop?
For example, while in webtop, new text messages are shown in a little pop-up. Obviously there is a way to get that data, but what if I would like to make an X app to read the text messages instead of using the mobile view (the UX for that isn't the best while in webtop mode).
Also, Firefox sends data back to the Webtop Connector when you close the webtop. Has anyone figured out how these things are accomplished, and if it's possible to use these methods?
I wanted to see if anyone else has done any exploration of this realm before I dive into it myself.
I would ask Lokifish, he is the resident Webtop guru. maybe he knows.

Hi guys,
I use Xtralogic Remote Desktop Client for remote desktop connection which works great directly in phone. But if I put Atrix into a lapdock and maximize phone display window, phone display is stretched to lapdock's 1366x768, but real image resolution stays at 960x540 and it doesn't look good.
Is there a way how to increase phone display resolution to lapdock's native 1366x768 and use applications in this resolution? Or is there some other application for remote desktop connection for lapdock which is able to use full 1366x768 resolution?
Thanks.
Edit:
I have Android 2.3.4, Webtop WT-1.2.0-133_22
Hi t-fuse,
If and only if you willing to root your Atrix then you will discover how helpful your gadget can perform if you use it together with the Lapdock.
I assume, the main reason why you need to have a RDP could probably because you need to access to your Windows base PC and perform some regular task which the "original" Atrix + Lapdock combination couldn't perform. If this is the case, you may make the decision if it is worth to "root" your Atrix? Search this forum for "Webtop2SD" and some others topic/comments which related to this hack.
Once again, I suggest you to spend as many time as possible to browse this forum (while experiencing your new gadgets) before you perform the hack and ask for help(s). Here you will find some nasty member and some very nice members too.
Hi OngPangTau, thanks for your reply.
I decided to root my Atrix several days ago (primary reason for rooting was LBE Privacy Guard application).
Then, I managed to successfuly install webtop2sd and other necessary stuff and now I'm running webtop from microSD card with XFCE4 GUI. To use remote desktop access I installed rdesktop which works good. The only limitation for rdesktop was that I had to switch my Windows 7 computer to less secure remote connection. However the most important thing for now is that remote desktop connection works
Is this possible? Anyone try/use it with this phone?
Will this do--->http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
Anything better? I'm running Linux on my computer.
[email protected] and android screen cast can only allow you to SEE what you are doing on the phone, meaning you can't interact with it.
Droid VNC server and teamviewer quick support are the two best ones that can do what you are asking for.
