Hi,
i have apps2sd, and my internal phone storage keeps lowering.
i know that it is normal(i think), but i am afraid it will run out, is there something i can prevent that from happening?
thanks.

unfortunately
no the phone storage is fulling with aseecs witch it think are the links or the ropes for the apps to climb over to the phone haha. the thing is no aps to sd 190mb ARE FOR ABOUT 15-20 APPS (HEAVYAPPS) APS2SD 70+ apps because the aseecs are only about 600kb... remember some apps arent moved to sd card.!!!!

[Q] Device memory only 1.97Gb?

Hi,
I actually picked the S2 over the Sensation because of the slightly higher specs and the fact that phone has 16gb internal memory. Being new to android (switch from iPhone) I really don't get what device memory is and why it's filling up so fast. I have barely installed 5 tiny apps and already 140Mb out of the 1.97Gb has already been used. I installed loads of apps on my iPhone and I intend to do that same on my new one so could someone please explain this concept of device memory and what exactly is stored in there. Also, if I run out of device memory, how do I free it up or increase the 1.97Gb limit?
2GB /data rest as internal sd card, system partition, cache, etc.
You can move apps to sd card if the data partition is full.

Relax, there's plenty of space. I've more than 80 apps installed, and they uses 664MB, so around 240 apps before memory is filled up... Remember that large games like Gameloft games installs their main data on the 12GB partition. And there is also a possibility to move most of the apps to that area as well, but it is unlikely that you need that.
The 140MB used on your phone probably includes some pre-installed apps.
Phew! That's big relief... Thanks so much. Just one last small doubt, I realized that only some apps are allow to be moved to the SD card while others like facebook have the this option greyed out. Why is this exactly?
some apps have the ability to be moved to sd card while others dont due to the way they are built..
can use device internal memory to store app data?
guys is it possible to use the device internal memory (1.9gb) to store app data in absence of internal and external SD card? my camera/apps don't run in absence of the SD card any way to get around this by using the the device internal memory? ( i have 1.5gb free after installation of all the necessarily apps)

[Q] app2sd partioning help

totally new to partitioning my SD card, if i partition the card does the phone automatically use the space when it starts running low or what?
sorry for the newbishness, but any info/guidelines/or link to details on what its about and how to do it would be appreciated.
Thanks
I had a similar question. Is there a good reason to install something like DarkTremor to the EVO 3D? Always seems I am running out of low internal space even though I am always moving apps to sd card.
You ran out of space, even with 1.1GB and then still moving apps to sd? I find that hard to believe. What do you have installed?

I think what he's trying to say is that even with moving apps to sd he keeps filling his internal space back up before getting around to moving everything in the meantime to the SD card manually ...
and we're both looking for a better solution.
DTa2sd symlinks a partition on the sdcard to data. It does not switch over and start installing apps on the sdcard once internal memory is full. Its only good when you have a phone with a small internal memory to begin with. I will look into something that should help with what you want.
BTW: My internal memory is almost full. With the size of some apps and their data it is way to easy to fill up the internal memory. You are not looking at just apps, but also the data associated with them.

[Q] Stock ROM SDCard Default

*!WARNING!*
Yes, this is a "cry me a river" post. And the attitude of this post has been derived from a few beers, so take this post with a grain of salt.
*!END WARNING!*
My question is why hasn't someone clever enough made a script or mod to make the SDCard the default on stock Samsung ROMs that can be flashed instead of the internal memory. I have searched to no avail. And if you seriously think a mere 11GB is enough you need to have your head examined.
I can't use CyanogenMod because even with it's "stable" 7.2, it's still unstable, even on the stock kernel. And even though the Stock ROM is bloatware from Hell, I'd take stability and bloat over random hangs and reboots. It's just that 11GB isn't enough when you've a 32GB card lyin' around collecting dust.
I'm technical enough to use the command line, but I'm just too lazy. I'd gladly donate a few bucks/buy a beer for an earnest devs time just for the sake of convenience.
So why hasn't anyone done it yet? I call fail on hobbyist devs everywhere. This is kind'a sad, y'know (Yes, I'm from Wisconsin).
ive been using cm9 for weeks/months without any crashes/hangs? So its not the rom but your apps that causing problems.
Why dont you try an app2sd app?
Ive never filled my 11GB of internal storage with apps because all my video's and pictures are on my external sd and my big apps (games and gps) automaticly save on external sdcard aswell.
How many apps do you get? because 11gb of just apps is alot... I think you should better do a full wipe and install your apps again one by one.
Also check the lost.dir map everything in there may be deleted, i once had 2 gig of data in it.

Full disclosure: I bounce around from CM7, to stock, to CM9, and everytime it's a full wipe.
I'm sick of random reboots and mobile data hangs on the CMs, which is why I'm on stock. App2SD is only a stopgap, I want a permanent solution, and having my SDcard as default rather than telling certain apps to save to it. That becomes tedious with 200+ apps.

[Q] Moving Humble Mobile Bundle apps to SD - Failure

I have a sprint Evo 3D, rooted with the SmoothCriminal rom.
The miniscule internal memory drove me crazy, it got to the point where after the ICS update I coudlen't update a SINGLE app because the internal memory always had under 10 megs free, no matter how much I deleted it would eat it up again, so I rooted it, and started re-installing everything.
I even set up a 4GB (Wish I could make it bigger) EXT4 partition to use with Link2SD.
For those that haven't heard of the Humble Indie Bundles, they allow you to purchase a set of apps (usually on Steam, but sometimes they do Android bundles) as a set for a price you decide, with a percentage going to charity.
Anyway, for Android, since these don't use the Google Play store, they are side-loaded from their own app (though they also let you just download the APK directly).
Now, the problem is that none of the games from this bundle seem to install to the SD card. I know that not all apps can be moved there, but if the "Move to SD" option is enabled instead of greyed out, that means they can, right? Also, many of these are large games, some of them 400MB, I am surprised it even defaults to internal instead of SD and would be shocked if they are the kind of apps that cannot be installed to SD considering their size.
Anyway, while Link2SD has no problem linking them to the 4ext partition on the SD card, I am unable to move these to "external" either by the built-in app manager, or the Link2SD app (apps installed using other methods, wheather they are linked or really on internal memory, don't seem to have this issue, such as Apps installed through Google Play whether they were linked to the 4ext partition or installed to the real internal memory). With the App manager it just says "Coulden't move app" (what a helpful error message) while trying from Link2SD gives me the error "INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR".
Thanks to these massive apps forcing themselves on internal, the 4GB 4ext partition is actually full!
Any ideas what I can do? This is making me pull my hair out.

Out of Space

So I woke up this morning to see that 3 of my apps couldn't update due to insufficient space. I understand that we can't move app2sd, but is there something else I can do besides delete apps to make room? I don't have an excessive amount of apps to begin with.
Thanks in advance...

There is a way to move apps to sd using certain roms. Also you can use the SD switcher and apps will auto load on your sd card. With that, depending on the amount of data you have, you can move your backups and things like that to your sd card. only thing you "have" to leave on your sdcard if you do not want to do the swap is the data apps.
