How to automatically boot UrukDroid? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay so I got everything running on my new A101. I have UrukDroid 0.7 installed but i have to boot it from recovery everytime. Now that I have installed latest market and everything. Now does someone wanna tell me how to remove the stock Android and directly boot into UrukDroid? I have used the simple install method and havent copied /data. I saw this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912054&page=2
But it just loops my boot. And messes it all up.
Sorry if wrong section. :\

[KERNEL] ClockworkMod compatible kernel and ROM Manager support

Ok, here's official clockworkmod and ROM Manager support
For a full/better How To, click here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788099
This thread is a quick rundown, as well as a primer on how to create a proper clockwork compatible kernel.
First, use odin or redbend_ua to flash this kernel:
http://koush.tandtgaming.com//samsung/fascinate/zImage (you will need to package it accordingly for odin, I am lazy and did not do so, see the other thread)
Then, open up ROM Manager and flash recovery (choose Fascinate!).
All done!
Note, using reboot recovery or adb reboot recovery will take you to a "stock" recovery. Simply apply the update.zip on your SD card and clockworkmod will start up. (This method is better known as fakeflash)
Starting up recovery through ROM Manager will take you directly into clockworkmod.
How this works for those that want to develop on this further and create kernels that are ALSO clockworkmod compatible:
I extracted a initramfs from a stock recovery. I modified recovery.rc and fota.rc to allow adbd (and other small fixups). I modified default.prop to enable adbd and root shell. I replaced /res/keys with a test signed version to allow applying update.zip files.
Here is my fascinate initramfs:
http://github.com/koush/fascinate_initramfs
One can build clockwork directly into the kernel if they so choose. Simply take the update.zip on your SD card and pack those files into the initramfs as well. I chose not to do this because I am lazy.
i know this is irrelevant but i hope you can help
i flashed the CMWrecovery file --- i followed the steps to the dot .. and now my phone can't get signal and is rebooting insanely ... help!!!
i did not uninstall the ext2 lag fix - i did not see that in the steps --
i even booted into standard recovery and completed a master reset -- same issue ---

Has anyone else tested this? I've yet to get it to boot, so I would caution those looking to install CWM to use the files found in the other thread until we can sort out what's up with this zImage..
i have this up and running with root and cw the only problems im having is my market wont load and it only gives me the "top free" tab and the "just in" tabs on the market...i can not see the top paid tab. i did a odin full restore (everything back to stock) then i rooted and flashed this anyone give me a had to why my market is funny? or how i have bad serves now?thanks to everyone for getting us cw!!

So you're saying you downloaded this specific zImage2 file, then tar'd it, then flashed it over your kernel and it worked? Did you use odin, or redbend?
Or did you just post for help on the bottom of this thread?

Yes, there's a difference. When I posted asking if anyone had gotten this to work, I meant the kernel Koush specifically provided above, in this post. I know in general CWM recovery works.
I would try posting in the thread where you obtained your files for help. That way there are people who are using the same kernel that might help.

turee that sorry. im noticing more and more problems like i dont have maps and missing apps here and there. thisis my fist time using odin and samsung...should i just odin back to stock everything and then try this recovery?
Alright...so I am confused now and I am not an Android noob....I see all the threads with how to flash the recovery and then this one....but I think we should have ONE thread that walks thru Rooting, flashing recovery etc....AND, in the first post, the instructions tell people how to pack files and etc., but a lot of people have no clue what that means...therefore, we need to have a "packed-ready" files for noobs. There are just a few too many botched phones.
As a noob myself, I think that sounds like a great plan.

Can someone post a link on how to backup the original stock kernel via ODIN (or some other application) before I go ahead with this? I'd like to just be able to go back to the unmodified kernel if I want to. After a five minute search I couldn't even find a tutorial on ODIN.

[Q] Want to Install Cyanogen, How can I access Clockwork Recovery? (kernel freeze)

Hi. I was following this guide here wiki.cyanogenmod.<(SPACE)>com/wiki/Viewsonic_G_Tablet:_Full_Update_Guide
(REMOVE <(SPACE)>)
I chose to install the 'update' to internal memory. Upon rebooting while holding the volume up and power buttons, "booting recovery kernel image" is seen but it doesn't progress beyond that point. After pressing the power button the tablet boots normally. I am stuck at Step 3 of the 2nd Method in the guide I had posted. I read somewhere that ROM Manager softbricks the device or something so I avoided it. How can I finish installing Cyanongen or perhaps switch to vegan? I would appreciate any responses
What bootloader are you on? Had you installed clockwork mod at any point?

Err. Tap UI says 1.2-4349.
I'm having the exact same problem. Just got the tablet and starting from the beginning with CWM. I've tried internalsd, externalsd and nvflash and all three methods result in the same thing. Stuck on the booting recovery kernal image.
I may nvflash the stock recovery and try it again.
EDIT: Go here: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/nvflash.htm
Follow the instructions to download the stock rom with CWM pre-installed. This did the trick for me! Hope it helps.

This means your on bootloader 1.2. Cm7 is made around bl 1.1 so it wont install correctly. You can install a modified version of cm7 that was packaged to run on bl 1.2. There is a thread in development by zyhong that has links to the modified cm7.
Here is the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123836
There are 2 options for kernels. The roms on the linked thread come pre packaged with either pershoots or clemsyns 1.2 compatible kernel.

Okay, thanks. I followed this completely without any errors...how do I know if Cyanogen is installed? Everything looks the same, has the same settings, nothing was wiped (same apps in same places and still have flash). Nothing says cyanogen in the settings. Thanks!
You guys flashed (installed) the wrong cwm for your branch. You're on 1.2 but you flashed in cwm for 1.1.

You can't uninstall it. And no you didn't follow my guide. The fact that you put in the wrong cwm says this.
Go to my start here page and impliment code yellow. Make sure you look ahead at the rom page to know which rom you want and what branch its on.

[Q] ClockWorkMod and Recovery Help for Fascinate

I'm rather new to the whole rooting and custom roms so please excuse my stupidity.
Recently I have finally figured out how to root my Samsung Fascinate. I have downloaded the ROM Manager app from the Market, clicked Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery and set it to the Samsung Fascinate. Next, I clicked Reboot into Recovery and I get to the android system <3e> recovery screen instead of the green ClockworkMod recovery screen. Can you help with and tell me if I did something wrong?
I've read around and I've seen that <3e> is not okay and that I need <2e>. Something like that. I want to put miui on my phone.
If you can help please leave a post. c:

*Help* Bricked phone on vacation!

I am on vacation and my fassy decided to stay in recovery upon boot. It gets stuck in boot loop. I'm running AOKP Build 30 w/ Glitch. My fiance has a macbook with her however, everything I've read says that we can't use Mac for rooting or restoring fassy's. Is there anyway to get out of the boot loop with an option in clockwork. From what I understand we can't use the two button hard boot with ICS roms. I could use some help, I'd rather not be without my phone for a week.
Thanks guys

Is there anyway to access a Windows computer? With Parallels, VMWare, a virtual computer lab, or something else?
If so, follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
If no, Hiemdall http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Goodluck
Apparently there's no driver for samsung fascinate with mac connectivity. I downloaded Heimall and the full tar package but didn't work. Does anyone know how to generically attatch my phone to the computer. Someone said something about a generic connection as a drive that works with heimall. I'm pretty pissed and can't seem to get this work. I'll pry end up just going down to a lab and hogging that for thirty minutes or so.
Heimdall has its own driver. It'll be in the driver folder in the suite. Also I'd use an older version of heimdall suite if you can. The newer version tried to streamline things but ended up being a downgrade IMO.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
I tried to use Heimdall but couldn't locate the driver. I then located a "exitrecovery.zip" that was supposed to be flashed in cwm. I used my gf's phone to download it then switched sd cards and that didn't work. Still stuck in cwm loop. I can't get to a pc where i can download Odin software to. There's no other flashable file i can find to help me get out of this loop.
look at section 9 of my guide...I always keep a cm7 rom on my sd card just incase this happens!
Can I flash a cm7 rom if i'm stuck on a cm9 bootloop??

Extremely Slow(Unresponsive)

I had The Avatar JB ROM installed on my phone. And I flashed Cyanogenmod and as soon as I did my phone turned extremely slow. So slow that I can't do anything the phone turns on and loads to the main screen but as soon as I touch any key or app it does nothing, it froze. I tried flashing the Stock ROM with Odin and same result. I also formated the internal SD card. and nothing. Anyone can help?

not to be snotty or rude, but you need to figure it out to get help
10.1 or 10.2
but REALLYNOW is right. there is no "STABLE" attached to any build.
have you eve got file for our phone???
When you move to a different OS you don't just "do the usual wipes". You format the system partition and the data partition as well. Otherwise you end up with buttloads of errors.
Go into recovery and find the steps I described and do them. Then reinstall CM. Don't restore old apps - let the market install the updated versions to avoid conflicts.

If you go to cm's website and look at our phone you will see that the OP is correct. There is a 10.1.2 that is listed as stable. Its the sixth one down on the page here http://get.cm/?device=quincyatt
The phone is working again. It didn't worked with the stock GB ROM nor the ICS T-Mobile ROM. But when I flashed the AT&T ICS stock ROM the phone started working again. And currently is running Cyanogenmod 10.1.2.

Hey OP, no offense intended. I always did "the usual wipes" between roms, but when I moved to CM I had to do the formatting. Its because all the other roms are based on stock roms and have similar file structures, but CM is different.
