[Q] ClockWorkMod and Recovery Help for Fascinate - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm rather new to the whole rooting and custom roms so please excuse my stupidity.
Recently I have finally figured out how to root my Samsung Fascinate. I have downloaded the ROM Manager app from the Market, clicked Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery and set it to the Samsung Fascinate. Next, I clicked Reboot into Recovery and I get to the android system <3e> recovery screen instead of the green ClockworkMod recovery screen. Can you help with and tell me if I did something wrong?
I've read around and I've seen that <3e> is not okay and that I need <2e>. Something like that. I want to put miui on my phone.
If you can help please leave a post. c:

[Q] Qestion about recovery mode in Vibrant !

Hi,
Noob question because it's my first time..
I read that some group of users have problem with their Vibrant recovery mode which doesn't start the process when they press vol keys together and start the phone up !
I got mine 2 days ago and I was worried that maybe it isn't support that like a lot of users !
So I tried the method in my Vibrant and a text in yellow came with options in blue (reboot your device, erase data ect..)
So is this the recovery mode in the Vibrant ?!
Sorry for the silly question but it's my first time
Yup, that's it.
Yeah. Download ROM Manager from the market and install Clockwork Recovery and you'll get the actual recovery that allows you to do nandroid backups, flash custom ROMs etc.
^ that is a must do. I have steps in the sticky at the top of the general section if you need help.

Yeah. Going into recovery mode is something you'd use when you're rooted. If you're unrooted, there is honestly no reason to be going into recovery mode unless you want to wipe settings which can be rare for a unrooted user.
Well.. I don't know if root is required or not but the app would be pretty much useless if you didn't have root. So yeah, I'd say you'd need root.

CWM recovery vs ROM Manager need Backup before GiingerBlur

Hello,
I'm new. I got my Atrix 5 days ago. I migrated from an iPhone 3g. I am on AT&T. I have done TONS of research before doing anything with my phone. I really dont want to brick it and I want to make sure im doing it right the first time and everytime. since its new it has 1.83 on android ver 2.2. I rooted using gingerbreak, obtained sideloading and tether using Gladiatrix. I am contemplating installing Gingerblur but I am hesitant. its not the installation that worries me. its the uninstalling should something go wrong. I understand creating a nandroid back is the way to go as I SHOULD be able to reflash to my backed up stock ROM. and be MOSTLY back to where I am now. here is my problem... HOW? I have done hours of combing numerous forums looking for how to create a nandroid backup. I understand ROM Manager is the way to go. but it keeps telling me "you must have clockworkMod Recovery installed before continuing. Install the recovery through ROM Manager first." so i click "install" and a dialog box pops up and gives me multiple phones to choose from, none of which is my Atrix. so i did more research and found another way (I think) using the Moto a4 bootstrap located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019143 using these instructions (watch from 3:08 to 4:46). Is this where I am going wrong? Im getting this screen (also has a "charge boot" button): http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k...kMod-Recovery-for-Motorola-Atrix-4G_thumb.png
what am I missing? What am I doing wrong? how do i create a nandroid backup?
I have found numerous posts/sites that tell me to use ROM Manager but im getting the above error.
Do I even want GingerBlur this bad?
thanks for listening and I really hope someone has some answers soon as I have spent HOURS looking for an answer. in the mean time im going to bed.
You're almost there. Click Install Recovery. Allow root. Make sure your phone is plugged into the wall charger. Then click Recovery Boot. Your phone will reboot into recovery, and there should be a menu item for backing up your phone. Use the volume up/down to navigate the menu and the wake button to select.

Next time put something in the subject line other than [Q] so everyone can see what the thread is about.
You should know to do this no matter what forums you are posting on!

I appologize for the subject, I typed it out else where on my pc and copy/pasted it in and missed the subject.
Thanks, the instructions I had found were very blurry when he got to the recovery mode portion and i couldnt tell if there was a backup option.
so this AM went into recovery mode and made a backup to my external SD card. will ROM Manager work at this point? or is it not completely supported yet (because its not in the list)
I feel much more comfortable trying out Gingerblur at this point now that I have a backup of the stock ROM.
Thanks for your help, and again sorry bout the subject, simple mistake.

I got this answer on another forum with a similar question:
In a nutshell, in order to use CWM and do a Nandroid backup, you must use a phone that has an unlocked bootloader; which allows certain changes to be made to the Operating System which enables those two apps. The Atrix has not yet been unlocked, and Gingerblur is not a true ROM. It's only a "pseudo-ROM"...more like a theme on Android than a rewritten version of Android, which is what a true ROM is. So, in other words, "you can't get there from here".

... we cannot use ROM Manager at all because of our current locked status.

Thats the simple answer. thanks for the help everyone.

[Q] CWM signature verification failure

Hi, I am obviously very new considering this is my first post. I have done many searches to try to fix this as well. I have a gs2 with kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100UHKG7. Build # is GINGERBREAD.UHKG7. I rooted my phone via ODIN and corresponding cf-root. I am simply trying to install cm7 or another custom ROM but when i boot into CWM i get the signature verfication failure. I have now learned i should not use ROM manger to install roms apprently but i wasnt sure how to push them to the sd card or if it is already there since i downloaded via ROM manager. If someone could tell me how to fix signature issue since it seems easier to intall via ROM manger or just tell me how to go about it another way (CWM manually)
Thanks for putting up with my noobness
q/a section is here
Connect the phone to a usb cable and copy the rom onto the phone, boot into cwm recovery by pressing vol+up/home/power button when its off and select install zip from sd card and look for the rom that you copied over.
Under the recovery menu, go to advanced, and turn signature verification off. Is easy...

CWM recovery?

I can't seem to get to the CWM recovery, only the default Android recovery, which is preventing me from installing custom ROMs. My phone is rooted, and I've installed ROM manager, flashed CWM from it, and tried opening CWM recovery from ROM Manager, and by the button press method. No matter what I do, I end up at the default recovery screen.
Anyone know how to fix this?

[Q] Need Help (pantech marauder) Please.

I recently rooted my ADR910L (verizon) and all was working fine. I then proceeded to accidently flash the wrong cwm recovery via rom-manager,
My phone instantly froze and i let it stay frozen for a good 15 minuites before removing the battery. Now i am stuck and the "PANTECH" logo boot screen. I can use fastboot however all i ever get when trying to flash is (failed:...remote: not support!!!). I can also boot into Android Recovery <3e> but when i try to hard reset, is states , " failed to mount /system.
Ive been trying for a week now and im going crazy. Can some one please help, or let me know if I'm completely screwed?
And btw i have all the correct drivers for my phone.
Anyone

Thanks
