[Q] CWM signature verification failure - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am obviously very new considering this is my first post. I have done many searches to try to fix this as well. I have a gs2 with kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100UHKG7. Build # is GINGERBREAD.UHKG7. I rooted my phone via ODIN and corresponding cf-root. I am simply trying to install cm7 or another custom ROM but when i boot into CWM i get the signature verfication failure. I have now learned i should not use ROM manger to install roms apprently but i wasnt sure how to push them to the sd card or if it is already there since i downloaded via ROM manager. If someone could tell me how to fix signature issue since it seems easier to intall via ROM manger or just tell me how to go about it another way (CWM manually)
Thanks for putting up with my noobness

q/a section is here
Connect the phone to a usb cable and copy the rom onto the phone, boot into cwm recovery by pressing vol+up/home/power button when its off and select install zip from sd card and look for the rom that you copied over.

Under the recovery menu, go to advanced, and turn signature verification off. Is easy...

[Q] [RECOVERY] Updated ClockworkMod for ALL ROMs Rate This Thread

Hi guys, I was trying to flash new ROM via CWM. However, cwm wasn't able to read the zip file saying something about script is not supported blah blah blah... Browsing thru xda forum, I found out that this problem has caused due to the cwm version(recently updated to cwm3.0.0.8) , or at least I want to believe it this way. So lastnight I ended up finding a thread started by jt1134 which I basically helped out lots of ppl who were struggling with similar problem as mine. But the thing is when I was trying to download the files, cwm-recovery-ALL.zip and cwm-recovery-ALL odin. The download links were broken giving me an error message. So guys, if anyone has the files I beg of you to share it pleaseeeeeeeee.
to shorten it down, the link is broken, I think. So if anyone has the files I beg of you to share it thank you..............
Hello jjalhjy
I will make this easy for the both of us!
Direct your browser to this link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999802
Once there scroll down to the 5th post (#5) where I linked both the page you referenced (broken links) and a link to a working download of the ".tar" file (was earlier! ).
If you need the .zip file scroll down to post 9 (#9) where I have linked it.
A quick guide to getting you flashed.
*note* I am assuming you cannot use .zip files due to the incompatible script error! This is for using odin.
1. Put phone in download mode via the power menu if on superclean. If not turn off the power, pull battery, plug into computer, hold "down" on the volume rocker till the yellow triangle "download" screen appears
2. download the ".tar" version of cwr all
3. Launch odin
4. Click the PDA button and search for the ".tar" file and select it -> then hit "ok"
5. Run the file in odin, wait for the phone to reboot.
6. put your battery back in and test recovery mode to see how it looks!
*whew*
good luck!
Wow that was a fast reply! Thank you! A quick question tho, 1. Do you know if I have to uninstall ROMmanager and delete update.zip file in my sd card before I even start flashing via using odin. 2. After following your instruction step by step, and let's say if it works. Do I still need to download ROMmanager? 3. I remember reading someone's thread in xda saying it is always necessary to flash new cwm after flashing a ROM (I always have it done using ROMmanager but now things have changed, obvisouly. So yea, how would I flash new CWM after flashing a ROM from now?
Sorry if these questions sound so newbyyyy hehe and thanks again!

It is advised (so I have read) that you should not use ROM manager with the Fascinate. While it is a powerful tool, it is just not 100% Fascinate friendly yet. Also I have never had to remove/mess with the update.zip on my SD card. Heck as far as I know you can delete it after using ODIN with the new cwr-all.

No. I would use the Development Thread here in the fascinate section for your ROMS. ROM manager is just not made for us.....yet!

I personally have never done this. To the best of my knowledge (and real life experience) cwr-all (red version) is the current and most up-to-date version (for the Fascinate). Once I ODIN-ed over the cwr-all I have not updated it once. You should be fine to flash it and flash ROMs as you please!
Dude, thanks A LOTTTTTT

[Q] Problem Loading Clockworkmod

so I rooted my phone via superoneclick 1.9 then loaded up latest version of clockworkmod and I gave it superuser permission and flashed the recovery but when i go to boot into recovery and push the reinstall package button instead of loading into clockwork like its supposed to it says "E:failed to verify whole-file signature, E:signature verification failed installation aborted." and wont let me go into clockwork. +100000 for that, the modded 3e didn't work for me, but that [your] method worked wonders. Pretty epic guide
BTW the link for the UPDATE.ZIP is wrong, it's not CWM recovery Had to do it manually.

Hey, appreciate the kind words. The update.zip I have posted is NOT CWR... it is just a zip to give root. If a person didn't have CWR prior on their phone they would need that to root, then go to the market and grab Rom Manager to flash CWR. Most have CWR/RM so they do not need the update.zip I included.
Maybe I need to make that more clearer in the guide? Thoughts?
Maybe.
I have a Galaxy S I9000 and I've done a few things with it (root, flash ROMs etc.), but the Vibrant was SO different. But I thought that the update.zip included was the CWM one.
Anyway, I'm done with it, but still can't make it work with my european SIM card

[Q] Flashing issue from a noob

I read a ton of threads and that is why I'm just going to make a post because I know I must be doing something wrong, but I keep reading and reading following steps and yet I can't see what I am doing wrong. I am very noob so I am so sorry for that.
I've soft bricked 3 times now so here goes.
I'm trying to install a cust rom, like cherrblur.
I first flashed to 1.5.2 because I read that I should not use 1.8.x. OK done.
I use superoneclick and root the phone (done) and then enabled side loading (done)
So far no issues!
I then need to unlock my bootloader which I do by reading the brief mobile instructions (//briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader)
I place the cus rom such as cherrblur onto my sd card.
I then install cwm recovery and install recovery, plug into charger recovery mode. I click down to install zip from sd card, it does and goes on to install with no issues it says down, I click back and then reboot.
THen boom, bootloop, bootloop, bootloop.... I then flash back to 1.5.2 and write this...
Any help would be greatly appreciated or even a link to a thread I might have missed? I really read a ton of stuff so I might be doing something wrong by mixing something up.
Thanks!

Sorry to say this, but you are extremely mixed up!
1.5.2 is old. Extremely old. You are also using Tenfar's old CWM, the bootstrapped one. SuperOneClick root method was also deprecated. We now have semi-ROM Manager support, as well as a full-blown CWM from Tenfar.
I suggest you follow these videos: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179506 or this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373
Thank you so much, wow looking at this I was VERY mixed up! Thank you, reading the instructions now

[Q] ClockWorkMod and Recovery Help for Fascinate

I'm rather new to the whole rooting and custom roms so please excuse my stupidity.
Recently I have finally figured out how to root my Samsung Fascinate. I have downloaded the ROM Manager app from the Market, clicked Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery and set it to the Samsung Fascinate. Next, I clicked Reboot into Recovery and I get to the android system <3e> recovery screen instead of the green ClockworkMod recovery screen. Can you help with and tell me if I did something wrong?
I've read around and I've seen that <3e> is not okay and that I need <2e>. Something like that. I want to put miui on my phone.
If you can help please leave a post. c:

Cant boot CWM?? plz help

heay guys im trying to install cm9 but i cant boot into cwm, im on stock gingerbread with kernel DCKK2. I used Rom manager to install cwm, this error message comes up,
E: failed to verify whole file signature
E: signature verification failed
and what makes it worse was i download a program that was meant to flash cwm and it installed a driver onto my phone and now my phone isnt detected by odin either -_- (the driver was called zadig)
and yes i used search and couldn’t find any solutions that worked for me..
plzzz help mee
I think the first thing you should do is make a new thread in the wrong part of the forums, rather than posting in/reading the CM9 discussion thread.
Then, ignore all the advice about not using Rom Manager.
Next, don't search for that error either, as you might find out that you have 3e recovery, not CWM recovery.
Finally, lie about searching.
Oh, damn, you already did all that. I'm lost for your next step then. Probably retaliating against me and telling me how unhelpful I am.
i will destory u
Flash a new kernel of chainfire trust me it will help
I know this problem dont use rom manager flash it with Odin
Goodluck
