[Q] Help! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i seem to have a bit of a problem with my HTC HD2. Earlyer today i lost the network connection. Thinking it's just a error i reseted the phone and when it asked for the password (not sim password but phonelock password) it did not recognize it. After dooing so several times now when i pres the "unlock" key it does nothing.
I've done a bit of reading and it seems the only solution is a hard reset with wich i don't have a problem... Except i'd really like to keep some of the personal files, meaning my messages.
I can acces the phone's memory (i don't have a memory card) but none of the folders there indicate to have the information i am looking for.
I know that you cand sync your phone with your pc but in order to do so you must first confirm the connection, and since my phone dosn't recognize the password i can't acces that way.
So my questions are:
1. Is there any tool i can use to acces the phones system files
2. What is the folder i can find the messages in?
3. (any other solution to my problem would be more than appreciated)
Thanks for reading

You can backup your messages with PIM backup.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705
After, just copy the .pib file to your PC and after hard reset you can restore your messages.

Thanks for the replay. Unfortunatley i can't use the tool since i can't acces my phone. In order to run the .exe of PIM backup i need to get past the password screen wich does not work (i type in my password, press the "unlock" key and it does nothing).
i can only acces the phone as far as seeing it as a "Removable hard drive" where i find folders like pictures and video etc.
Any solutions?

How do i delete all my xda and start again from the sd card?

Hello,
How are you?
I have a xda, and unfortunately it has stopped working properly.
The problems i am facing are:
1/. I am unable to connect to it via activesync
2/. I am unable to enter the programs folder. I am however able to go into settings.
3/. When i start many/all of the programs, it says that there is not enough memory and that i should go to the memory manager and close a few. The problem is that there are no programs open!
4/. When i do a hard reset, the above problems to do go away!
Now, i last thing i have done is to install the slovoed dictionary program. The program installed fined and said that i need to reboot the device inorder to update the registry.
After reboot, all these problems started ;-(
Before i install this it worked fine!
Please help me. I really need to fix my xda.
I only have access to the sd card. I can not connect via active sync.
Can someone point me to where i can find a full back up, so that i can put it on my sd card and over write everything that is one my xda.
I am not sure exactly what i need but I am sure someone who has a greater expertise on this does.
I much appreciate all your help.
Regards,
Monza.
hard reset
Have to perform a hard reset. After a hard reset the OS of a Pocket PC is reloaded from ROM, and you start with a blank system, only the OS and some applications. Also all data will be gone.
The XDA's stylus exists of 2 parts. Twist and unscrew them. Use the grey plastic part of the stylus to hard reset the XDA.
It is all in the manual.

[Q] HD2 unable to boot-I need info from phone before reset

Please help,
My hd2 will not boot, I get the message "this device is unable to boot because you have turned it off incorrectly or tried to install an application from an untrusted source. press volume up to reset.... ...this operation will delete all data".
Memory card is okay, but I had important documents and photos on the phone which i need before I reset the phone. How can I access these? I have tried active sync but it is not detecting the phone.
thanks for any help
I really dont think you will be able to, if you cant boot then you have no access to the device memory..............
Hi,
Ive got the phone in bootloader now and when I connect it, the computer recognises it but it is not displayed in the explorer window.
Any ideas?
Cheers

I stil dont think it will work. pretty sure you need wm to boot before you can access the memory.
sorry.
Hi,
If this phone belonged to Osama BinLaden, I dont think the FBI would reset it, im sure they would find a way to get the documents off. I am so frustrated.

Maybe OBL would do regular backups and not rely on just one device for important documents.
Since he does his blogging on cassette tapes, I think he will still be using a Nokia 3210.

Looks like an iPhone user to me..............
@ the op
I wasnt suggesting that its impossible to get to the data, but I dont think it will be possible for you to get to the data..........
if you still have no success after booting without the sd card inserted and applying HSPL ( not sure that will work but its worth a try.....) then I would give up if I were you.
I suppose a repair centre may be able to remove the internal memory and copy the data for you maybe not but that would be about the only option left if you cannot get the phone to boot.........
Either that or you impersonate an FBI agent and try to blag access to a facility with the technology to access your phones memory under the pretense that you believe the handset contains information which may be potentially dangerous to national security, begin a romance with one of the lab technicians and attempt to sweet talk him/her into giving you the contents of the phone....
Good luck.........

[Q] Phone problem

Hi guys
I have strange problem with my phone - I'm unable to log in to YouTube, MyPhone and MarketPlace. Hard reset was not solving the issue, so I've downloaded new Vodafone UK rom from HTC site. My old one was 1.72, new one is 3.14. With YT it just goes back to log screen, Market and Myphone are giving me "unable to connect" or "download was unsuccessful" message. My internet connection works fine, I can browse sites and even watch movies via build in YT aplication. Tried multiple resets and still the same?
Right, bit more info what I've done. maybe that will throw some light on possible cause of my problem.
I've installed my mobiler and connected phone via Activesync
1st mistake - I did not read what it actually says on screen and unticked all positions on program list (thought this is the list of software that will be installed on my phone)
As you can imagine Activesync started removing all programs from my phone.
2nd mistake - trying to save my phone I quickly disconnected cable.
Some software had been already deleted, including sms patch
then I decided to restore my phone to earlier state using SPB backup
when fnished, I found out, than Sense wouldn't start
So, i decided to do hard reset
after this step I found out, that I was now unable to log into youtube, myphone and marketplace. i can access them from PC level, so I have not forgotten my passwords. Also I can browse internet fine, so it's not my network operator.
Question: is it possible, that SPB somehow damaged rom files?
Thinking that this may be the case I've decided to download fresh rom from HTC site. But after install issue remains

[Q] Lost my password.

Hi all,
Yesterday for fun some friends of mine chose to put a numerical password on my phone, I said it was not a problem since I thought there was an option to unlock it if password was forgotten with Google account (I remembered doing it sometimes in the past).
But it looks like there is not this option anymore.
I know a factory reset will remove the password but I actually have some very importants messages that I can not lost.
So I would like to know if there's a way to avoid the password or at least backup messages to my computer or something like that.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
Im no expert but heres what i would do:
First enter recovery Mode and BACKUP
Now dumped the backul to ur pc
Now comes the part i do not know spe ifics about...? Seach Google for the boot security loader for ur android version.. There should be a configs file that sets the lock level modify that to no security and it should work im swaeching for a good link now
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

Adware on my phone lollipop 5.1.1 help needed

Hey i have a terrible adware thingy on my phone, unable to remove it. No antivirus detect anything.. Its different sometimes. Before it came only when i open whatsapp now it comes anywhere. It comes 1 time a week (not often) very few times a week. Pls help.. How do i remove this????
No one knows ?
if it started just on whats app i would generally suggest it has linked to the whats app files. now it is opening more and more it has now sync with most of your files and folders.
best thing to do factory reset your device save as much as you can to SD card which you need.
1 Before you reset your Android , see options for backing up your data.
2 On your mobile device, open the Settings menu Settings .
3 Under "Personal", touch Backup & reset. You may need to enter your pattern, PIN or password.
4 Under "Personal data", touch Factory data reset.
5 Read the information on the screen and touch Reset phone.
6 If you have a screen lock, you'll need to enter your pattern, PIN or password.
7 When prompted, touch Delete everything to delete all data from your device's internal storage.
8 When your device has finished erasing, select the option to reboot your device.
Ps stay off the porn sites ^^ generally virus are downloads when visiting random links and the website installs an .apk generally the main anti virus programs are paid to miss these or dont bother because they think there a part of an .apk so do not flag up hope this helps

Thx for the long help thing. But im not gonna reset because of a pop up thing i barely see anymore, but well thanks
Yeah more and more things like this are being sent through whatsapp and fb. It mostly because now alot of people from smaller/developing countries are using it while the majority of us gave it up and switched to something else.
if you would like to know where and what is pop it up try installing "QtADB" it has a program in it called "logcat" basically shows you all jobs that the phone is running you can use this to bug check where the program is running from but you may be going in circles for a few hours thats why i said just to reset. google QtADB should come up with a list of instructions to install.
