[Q] What function does the "mobile tracker settings" preform? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I go take a nap for a couple of hours and find that my phone had lost 30%.
I checked system monitor found that it was on the last 30 min of my nap that it happened.
I checked advance task killer and an app I have not seen before was on it, "com.samsung mobile tracker.ui". I longed pressed the app, clicked stop/details and it was listed as "mobile tracker settings".
Does anyone have a clue what it does?

It's an background service from samsung which enables you to track your phone when it's lost or stolen in combination of your samsung account.
Sadly enough it's only supported in a few country's due privacy laws.
So i've disable it with the nitrality app (tool). And i'm using lostphone app from the market as an alternative.

Sims 3 Crashing?

Ok so I started playing the Sims 3 that came on the Vibrant.but for some reason after buying a new couch for my home in the game.when I try to nap or sit on the couch the game crashes back to my home screen! Tried selling and buying a new but it still crashes. Once or twice some AirRide error screen showed up and froze the game! I dont know what the hell the problem is. Could it be my root or lag fix v2 causing the problems? Please help! Thanks a million!

Sims is broken. You can only get so far before it starts crashing. No solutions have been found that I know of.

Means it's broken.
From what I have heard it's an EA Games deal, not a vibrant issue. Rumor has it they are working on a fix, but I can't back that up.

Linda is always talking to me

Ok so i'm not sure what setting I turned on but whenever I'm on the phone and someone calls linda starts chatting my ear off with the callers number and name and all that jazz. I' ve messed with just about every setting I can think of and looked all over. If anybody has any ideas I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks

It is an app you downloaded. I had to turn that crap off too. She never shuts up. Go to accessablity or something in your settings.

Not sure if that is it but I recently started to use vlingo. I have to go to running services just to kill it. Kind of annoying.
I'm new here but just thought i would give some advice because i had the same issue with my text to speech. Go into settings under voice input/output, text to speech see if driving mode is checked. If so all you have to do is uncheck it

yeh then its probably vlingo. just open it up and there's an option to read everything or stay silent.
I don't have vlingo but I just uninstalled all of my unessary navigation software (except stock nav) and see if it's something caught up in there. If not I'll just use titanium backup to reinstall them. If it does take care of it them I'll just reinstall them one by one.

And I did look at driving mode nothing was checked so I'm going to see if unistalling oruxo maps helps. If not then I think I'll try checking it rebooting then unchecking it see if that works.

If your android system usage is high, it may still be the culprit. Try uninstalling lookout and see for yourself.

i dont find it necessary to have a antivirus on an android. as long as your careful about what you download then you should be fine. you could also just get a firewall to use on certain apps or if you have MIUI there is one built in

+1
Read all the review from Market for the apps u want to run. If still paranoid, search on xda first before downloading. No need for Lookout..
I use lookout, I have no issues with battery. I keep data off unless I need it.

Do you have something that blocks network access, like DroidWall, installed?
EDIT: To clear up - DroidWall has the ability to block an app's access to the network for 3g, wifi, or both. So it's POSSIBLE, if you have it installed, that you have it allowed for 3g, but not for wi-fi.
That said: is it ONLY on your home wi-fi that you get this? Try it on another wi-fi network. Does it work on any other wi-fi network? If so, then if you think there is no firewall on your home wi-fi, then I think you're wrong.
it does not on any wi fi network and I did not installed any kind if firewall app

Not a very large sampling size. I'd try some more.
EDIT: someone else on here was having trouble with a web site on wifi, that worked on 3g. Turned out he had issues with his hosts file. If you're rooted, look in /etc for a hosts file, and see if it has addresses for vlingo in it. I don't know what those addresses might be, you'll have to research that yourself.

the folder is actually created by an apk to prevent ads in games and there are done urls that are redirected to some IP will look if vlingo is in it
EDIT: deleted the file still doesn't work one thing I noticed it gives.error when it hear noises if I don't make any noise then no error it just waits for command

Hmm. Well, SOMETHING is blocking your phone from getting to vlingo's servers when you're on wifi. ... But I've run out of ideas, if you're SURE you don't have a firewall on your home wifi, and you got rid of your/etc/hosts file.
How many other wifi networks have you tried this on now?

I woke up and voila it works with home wi fi . don't know what happened :-D now the market problem remains only. market apps not showing

XDA App eating battery when running in background?

I've noticed that my XDA app on the Galaxy S3 (ATT) is eating up alot of battery. Ate almost 40 minutes of CPU. One time when I went into task mananger, it showed high CPU usage and I wasn't even using it for a while (so it was idle). I also noticed this with the Engadget app.
Anyone notice anything similar? Just seems like they should be sleeping and not using CPU in the background...
Try reinstalling them. I haven't had this problem with either :/
See attached. My screen has been on about an hour and xda for 50 min.

i'm having the same issue. att sgs3 completely stock never flashed rooted or odined. my phone also seems to stutter and lag a bit more than i was lead to believe it would but i really only started to notice it after installing xda.
i have been using the xda app quite a bit today but an app doubling the screen in battery drain just seems wrong.
xda app cpu times:
total: 2h30m
foreground: 55m
i'm thinking about flashing the stock firmware odin package....... but i'm also thinking about trading in my blue for a white and i think the obvious lag stutter problem might help me avoid restocking fees.
oh what to do?
so no one else is having this problem? just us two?
I'm having this problem as well. I had 90% when I went to bed. 6 hours or so later when I woke up I had 50% left :/
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I have also been having this problem since my s2. You can see in the task manager its running about 10 pct in the background. Never found a way to stop this apart from manually closing the app in its settings or force close.
I have been having the exact same issue with my XDA app. It just sucks the battery, using 20-35% on average. This is very odd as I have never had a problem with the xda app before. This is an app issue, hopefully they will update this.

I also have this problem. I've been manually fcing the app. I assumed it was due to the app trying to serve adds. But I don't really know
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Guys, I've had a little better luck...at least its not killing the CPU total (was above 20% before on idle). I've disabled notifications in the settings and I've also disabled the 2 listeners using AutoRun manager.
Does anyone here who is experiencing xda app battery drain have a rooted device with an ad blocker? I have never had this issue with the xda app and the only thing that has changed other than the phone is not being rooted /ad free. My guess is ads are somehow causing this problem.
