Hi everyone! I've read these forums for a long time but haven't posted much before. It was doing my research here that led me to buying my Prophet. It couldn't have been a better decision, so thank you! I owe you guys one.
So... I thought it might be helpful to list the issues people have been having with their WM6 builds so far, since right now the problems seem to be spread through other threads. I flashed the PDAViet 4.0.0.0.3 two days ago, and although it runs pretty well, I've run into a couple of problems that other people have seen too:
1. Wifi works only sometimes. I'm really not sure what causes it, but it will always work properly again after a soft reset. It doesn't seem to matter how long my Prophet is turned on - I soft reset last night, put my phone down, and tried the wifi again this morning, and it worked fine. I'm guessing that it might be some other program or system process that's interfering with the wifi/wlan.
2. MMS/SMS. Since I don't use MMS, I can't speak for myself, but I've read other people are having trouble getting their MMS to work properly. I've also read that a small minority of people are having trouble with their SMS. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
3. Missed calls. People have posted that their phones sometimes just won't ring, and they get missed calls. Some say that this can be fixed by downgrading to the 2.19 radio ROM. Has anyone tried this, and did it work?
4. Bluetooth. I haven't had any bluetooth problems, and the bluetooth keyboard I installed works great. However, I've read that other people have been having some problems. Anyone care to comment?
5. Battery troubles. People have said different things about whether or not their WM6 ROMs use more power than WM5; I'm not sure that it actually makes much of a difference. One thing I did notice, though: my Prophet will charge fine when attached to my PC's USB port, but not when plugged into the wall! The yellow light comes on, and it looks like it's charging, but the battery continues to drain. This is easily one of the weirdest problems I've had.
If you have other problems/errors using any WM6 ROM (not just PDAViet), please add on to the list! Say what the problem is and what ROM you're using. Also, if anyone knows fixes for any of the problems, add them here too!
TrueNeytral 1.4 MS BT.
Very few issues. No problems with Missed calls, MMS, BT or battery (10% per day with 2 calls each day). Wifi varies a bit - but no real problem.
Once I mistakenly pressed the flight-mode icon, then turned the phone back on - I didn't recieve SMS for two days, until I re-booted. Strange...
7. Sporadically missing email, wifi and bluetooth settings after soft-reset, even if we turn off the phone everytime a change is made.
Occasional missed calls; seems like they just go right to voice mail sometimes.
Battery life fair with Radio 1.40; it may be a little better with 1.38, hard to tell; definitely better life by turning off 3G
Some minor incompatibilities with BatteryPack Pro, mostly visual things, nothing functional so far
In Windows Live, when checking email if I close an email message Windows Live closes and sends me back to the Today Screen; if I 'reply' to an email, then 'cancel message', it will send me back to the email list, not close the program and return me to the Today page. This bug disappeared for a while and the email functioned properly until I flashed a new radio ROM(1.40), then bug returned

Yeah, me too. I didn't see it happen with my email, and I don't use the bluetooth too much, but it seems like the settings for my home router would mysteriously disappear whenever I soft reset, and I'd have to put in my password again.

I have the same problem. What I've seen: I only loose mails, internet settings, Windows Live Messenger settings, if I use soft reset harware button. Try to use an software program that allow you to soft reset device like XCPUScalar which put in system tray an icon for that function.
If you find something else to remedy that problem please anounce me

Don't forget the password issue.
An important feature for business users - I guess.
I've owned a Touch Pro for a few months now and overall it's a good device. It has its quirks, but then again what phone doesn't? There is one problem in particular, however, that I can't seem to figure out. I've searched up and down in XDA Forums, and on Google, and I just can't find out a fix for my data connection always turning on for no reason. I have all my e-mail accounts set to "manual send / recieve", the weather program set to "update weather manually", and as far as I know there are no other programs on my phone that have access to the internet without my permission.
The problem I have is sometimes I will wake my phone up from its sleep mode, and I will discover that the data connection is active and appearing to be transmitting. Also, EVERY time I restart my phone and it goes through the boot process, the data connection will re-activate even before TouchFLO 3D opens up on the today screen. It's really annoying, because I have no idea what's causing it to do this, or why it does it at random times, or whenever I reset my device.
Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I hate having to manually go in periodically and make sure my data connection is set to "off", instead of having it stay that way when I set it.
So no help on this one then?
I don't have a solution but I can help by bumping your thread and saying I have the same problem on Verizon. I was at a friend's place all weekend, and he has wifi all over, so I turned off data and used his wifi instead. Well sure enough all weekend my data connection kept turning itself back on. It seemed to happen only when going into sleep mode. So I kept the phone plugged in so it would never totally "sleep". Wifi stayed connected with no data connection starting automatically. Annoying especially considering the 5 GB data limit on the PDA plan.
Well I'm glad I'm at least not alone on this one. It's weird too that even though your device is on a different carrier, it still does the same thing. I wonder if it's a hardware issue?
I know that someone has to have an answer for this...
go into pocket express and press menu then go to express settings then on the top left theres a pulldown press it and go into auto updates and turn it off.. pissed me off when i got the phone.. couldnt find a fix till i started going through all the programs to find the one doing it.. and it was the stupid Pocket Express
I have had my MDA Compact V for a few months now, and it's only recently that I've had the same problem. Each time I switch on, my data connection starts or alternatively if I loose signal then get it back then I see my data connection is on again. Thankfully I have the Solo 20 package with unlimited net usage (although you're are limited to 1Gb/month) but it drains my battery really badly.
I went through every possible setting and program to switch off location settings or auto downloads/updates and I still have the same problem, but I downloaded Data Controller v1.00 from Freewarepocketpc.net and I can toggle my data connection on or off as I please.
Heres what you need
Install below cab, then use the NODATA app, select what you want off, PHONE AS MODEM and DATA are your two options I believe... Your data will never come back on... until you re-enable it that is....
PS... THIS IS NOT MY CAB, THIS IS SOMETHING I FOUND WHEN TRYING TO ADDRESS THESAME PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING. THIS CAB WAS DOWNLOADED FROM MoDaCo BUT I DONT HAVE THE LINK... ALL RESPECTS GO TO HIM... I AM JUST SHARING WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME IN THE PAST...
Seems it's one or the other
What sucks is on my Sprint HTC touch pro 2 (cdma), I was having a problem where I couldn't answer calls all the time, but sometimes I could, and eventually found that it was always when the data connection was showing active is when I couldn't answer a call. But when that was happening, my data connection would turn back off after a few seconds when I was done using it. It was driving me crazy not being able to answer my calls and I finally found a post that let me correct that problem, it was changing the HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume value that fixed this problem... the value of this registry setting was originally "GPRS_bye_if_device_off". This setting made it so the data connection would turn off when not being used, but it apparently messes up cdma phones from being able to switch over to answer an incoming phone call if the data connection is active. I changed this registry entry to "#777" as the post said to do, and sure enough, that corrected the problem with being able to answer my calls if the data connection is active. I'm real happy to have that working now, but when I changed this setting, my data connection is now always showing active (white arrows showing in status) and even if I turn it off manually, it comes on by it's self way more often than the every 4 hours I have it set to check emails.
There is a registry setting called CacheTime under the same Settings key as the above mentioned registry entry that I changed, that when the "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" value is used, the CacheTime key value will indeed control how long the data connection stays on before automatically turning off. But When I change the Entry to "#777" which is necessary to allow me to answer calls when data is active, then changing the CacheTime value has no effect and the data connection stays on until you manually turn it off.
I'd like to find a way to turn the data connection off, while still not messing up me being able to answer calls when the data connection is active, and seems to me that if both of these things can be done separately with two different registry settings, that it must be possible to do both.... so if any of you tech wizards can find a way to do this, I'd love to see it!
Possible Fix?
Hey, I have noticed the same problem. It is annoying from a battery life aspect as well as a system slowdown when coming out of sleep. I could not find much of a workaround except one of the settings in TD3 Tools I installed. In the "Data Connection" tab you can yurn on an option that makes your "End" key also terminate an active data connections. So if you hit it after waking your phone you won't have the annoying slowdown with your Sense UI...
So, I flashed the official and stable CM 9.1.0 on my girlfriend's Xperia mini. Everything works perfectly and smoothly. The only problem is that background data don't work as expected. They are activated, Wifi is set to always on during standby. Here is what happens (Wifi ON): When the screen is off, the device seems to partly deactivate background data (?). It receives emails/WhatsApp messages on an irregular basis, instead of being connected all the time. At least that's how it seems. I checked for it the following way: I sent messages with my phone and then checked how long it takes the mini to receive the message. It took between 2 and 14 minutes, most of the time around 4-6 minutes. So it seems like it either has connectivity issues or issues with the background data. But that is only with the screen off. When the screen is on, none of that seems to happen. I don't know if that happens with 3G as well, yet, as I didn't have the chance to grab the phone to do more testing.
Does anyone have a hint what the reason for this might be? I can do more testing in the next days but as it is not my phone I don't know when this will be (probably Friday).
Edit: I forgot to mention that this was not the case with the official Sony 4.0.4 ROM that was on the phone before.
Hello, folks!
I have a rooted I9100 (Android 4.0.3 stock from Vivo, baseband I9100VILP3, kernel 3.0.15-I9100VJLP7-CL371396 [email protected] #3, compilation IML74K.VJLP7, CSC I9100UVILP3).
Sometimes I have problems turning on WiFi, it keeps always turning on and neither become active nor allow me to turn it off again. I then need to reboot phone to fix it (when it reboots, WiFi comes turned on and gets on normally).
Another problem I have with it is that sometimes (average of 4 - 5 times a day) phone loses registration with carrier. It completely loses* signal and shows a "prohibited" icon where signal strength is shown at status bar. (Edit) Sometimes it comes back again in a few seconds and sometimes it stays at that state, making me have to reboot it to fix the problem (turning on and off airplane mode doesn't work; in fact, with registration lost and trying to use airplane mode, it doesn't turn off and only fixes with reboot).
*Actually, it doesn't lose signal (can be seen in "settings - about phone - state" screen uploaded), but only unregisters from carrier.
(Edit: screen/phone language is Brazilian Portuguese)
I've downloaded another modem driver but never had time to test it.
I don't know if both problems can have the same cause, but both of them are very annoying (especially signal loss) and I'd like to make some tries to fix them, so if anyone knows what can I do (even data collection to investigate them), your help is very appreciated.
Thanks
Additional test (ServiceMode)
When I was in the forum to post this thread, I've noticed this other thread and I've decided to use ServiceMode code (*#0011#) to investigate further at the next time my cell lose signal. Unfortunately, it showed absolutely nothing. Literally nothing (just "ServiceMode" caption and no text on the screen below).
I just spent the time to post this because I know that, even if it has shown no information (on screen), maybe it still can be a clue for the cause of the problem.
Thanks
Pls help!
Does anyone have some light to shed on this case?
Please, I do really need to fix it, at least the signal loss problem.
Thanks.
Same Issue in the US on Tmobile
Mine started doing this just a day or two ago. Exact same issue. I can kind of operate on the EDGE network but 4G fails, only WiFi seems to work. T-mobile doesn't seem to have a fix for it.
Changed to MIUI
I've just changed to MIUI (reflashed modem also – now it is ZSLPE instead of previous VILP3).
I still have issues with carrier register loss, but until now it always reconnected after a few seconds. Maybe it is a carrier issue and not a phone one.
I don't turn on WiFi a lot, but all times I've tested it, it worked well.
Another thing I've noticed with this change is that battery temperature while charging used to reach 48°C (118°F) or even 50°C (122°F) while battery level was low (less than 50%), but now it stayed around 35°C (95°F), which is completely acceptable.
Hi all,
this is my very first post here on xda, so please forgive me if this is not the proper section for my thread. I searched for other thread about similar issues, but I didn't find anyone. I'm Italian, so I even hope to not being wrong in English writing.
I recently bought (on November 2014) an Huawei Ascend Y550-L01 (Android 4.4.4, EMUI 2.3, ROM B137), coming from a (Portuguese) Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5512. Soon I experienced a very strange GPS behaviour: GPS turns itself off. No problem in signal fixing, nor in quality or precision. It simply deactivates.
First I noticed this using the OruxMaps app (which works fine on many phones, even my old one), simply recording the track. Indeed, at the beginning the app was being killed (because of the integrated task-killer) when screen was off, but after setting it as a "protected" app, when I record a track, GPS works while screen is on and, if screen turns off, then most of the times (not always) GPS is deactivated from within Android settings.
I even received (from the purchasing time) some GPS errors while in the home screen... I don't remember exactly that error, but in a fast Internet search it was told being caused from the weather widget, precisely from the "actual position" setting. I deactivated it and added manually my town and those errors were gone.
Then I noted another strange behaviour: GPS turns off even in standby, during night. It is on "extreme precision" on evening and it's off at morning. Sometimes I notice these deactivation (in the notification menu or into the energy saving widget) while I'm using the phone (but always when screens is off), without any error or message popping out... It simply gets deactivated.
Any other experiencing this strange issue? What could be the cause? I sent a mail to official support, but they asked me to take the phone in a service point... I can't stay without phone, so I would like to avoid this if it's not strictly needed.
I think it's a ROM issue (said that even in the mail), but unfortunately still there is no alternative one (or at least I found none). I think also that (almost) every app that uses GPS suffers for the same behaviour I faced using OruxMaps.
PS: phone IS rooted by a couple of week, but I'm facing this issue from the first day.
What the hell is going on? Any help, idea or trying suggestion is appreciated...
Many thanks!
Up?
I also see strange problems on the Y550-L01 connected to GPS.
In my case the GPS does not disconnect completely, but during car navigation the signal gets lost from time to time (tested with different navigation apps).
This is only the case when the Y550 is NOT connected to the charger. If I connect it to the power supply, GPS works quite reliable and accurate!
For me this sounds like a software problem (maybe connected to a power saving mode?). I hope a firmware update will fix this soon.
Even to me this is a firmware issue. Before of your answer, I was really beginning to think it's a fault of my phone. Now that I'm not the only one, I went back to think of a bug.
If it is a power save problem, then try to use this app to stop the power save mode :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
(ultra light : 35K, free/no adds)
"Wake Lock gives you control over the Android Power- and WifiManager.
For example, you can force the PowerManager to keep the screen on or have the CPU still running in standby mode or make sure the Wifi connection keeps running at full performance.
You can use it on any android phone or tablet.
Use it to keep the screen on in full brightness or dimmed mode during movies or slideshows.
To make sure the CPU is still running in the background doing your tasks when you press the standby button."
Thank you for the report.
It seems that the new huaweï G620S has the same GPS problem :

Any news of an Huaweï update ? Hope yes...

Hi! Better post your question in our small Huawei Ascend Y550 thread. Maybe there someone of us can help.
If you understand German:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/huawei-...gation-unzuverlaessig-nur-im-akkubetrieb.html
These folks have the same proplem, but no solution.
Try it while a charger is attached.
