And works fine
Read one of the 100's of threads asking the same thing before starting a new one. Your phone is the same as everyone elses here, there is no difference between what works for them and you.
Dont mean to come off like an ass but there is a post just a few down where reviews have been posted for many ROMs and if you read the dev threads each ROM should have comments from the dev and changelogs detailing what works and doesnt. If you read through these posts you wouldn't need to clutter these forums with posts like this. Everyone has their own preferences, there is no such thing as "The BEST ROM"

Hey,
I am using FreeX10 Beta4, everything works perfect for me except the camcorder feater which most ROMs dont have support for yet another one would be to try Cyanogen 009.

Hello everyone,
Today I have seen that there is a new Beta update at the Froyo rom.
Now I read "REQUIRES LATEST KERNEL AND BASEBAND 2.1.54 (shipped in stock 2.1.A.0.435 ROM)"
What I have to do now? Any explaination?
Flash, root & xrecovery instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
Then follow Beta4 instructions.
I have found that beta 4 is eating my battery though. 10% per hour. I was using a third of that with Beta 3.
I going back to Beta 3 now.
i dont think we can use the above mentioned link for baseband update, check the reply by the author when someone had problem installing the freex10 beta4 in the same thread on page 2

2.1.54 is the latest baseband which comes with the 2.1.A.0.435 ROM (you even copied that on your first post ). Anyway, try reading this post by KULANV:

The steps he provided is easy to follow. I did mine the long way but that was before anyone posted the shorter way.
try this HOWTO, if you don't wanna mess something up!

I've always wondered this too. I'm no developer and also have no idea how it works. But I always wondered why they never developed for the newer basebands. Is it harder or something?
Just out of curiosity.
I really don't understand why still so many people asking in the wrong section....the search function the most powerful tool here...I always find my answers by using it.....

Please don't just request a ROM and a special kernel on a special baseband.
The devs here are GODS and when they develop af kernel that works on a specific baseband I am sure they will release it here
ATM I am on Wolfbreaks Froyo with stock kernel and it work flawlessly.

baseband 49 gives better radio and signal is always strong.
baseband 58 eats alot of battery and doesnt give good stability for custom roms.

i know the Dev here are gods, it is just a question, i search everytime, my questen is just why you use only bb.49 oder .54 but not .58?
The kernels that are being developed are only working on basebands .49 and .52 if it was possible for them to get the kernels working on .54 .55 and .58 it would be big news
I'm sure no one is bothered really as it takes 2 mins Max to flash a new baseband
So no offence buddy but be patient, it may never come at all or maybe when 2.3.3 comes but who cares as long as we can use them in general
And please next time post in Q&A

Hi,
I am currently running the below Custom ROM
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: 2.1.54
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6.1.3 v4.5
Build Number: CM6.1.3 v4.5 [2.2]
So far I havent had any problems with it, but I'd like to know if I have chosen a good custom rom to install. I have searched through the forums trying to find information about which one gives best performance, which ones dont have problems with the camera etc, and to be honest it is easy finding this information.
Anyway, all I want to know is if I am running the latest version of Cyanogen if that's the best rom. If not which one would be better and is there a good guide to installing the ROM.
Also, I have definately ROOT'ed my x10 but I have noticed that I cannot access the /Data/Data folder using ASTRO or Ghost Command.
Sorry for rambling on but just want to know if I have made the right choice.
Thanks again.
u can try wolfbreak's rom its stable and pretty much one of the fastest around
Thanks. Where would I find this installation files/guide for this, and also would I need to change my BaseBand??
I've been using Wolfs rom for quite a while, but the lack of tethering and the relatively unsatisfying battery life started bothering me so I've been using the EWJet for two weeks now.
Great 2.1 Heavily modified ROM, works smoothly and my battery lasted 3 days with several phone calls and light browsing under 75% brightness.
It's a matter of taste though.

Nope you dun have to change your baseband since wolf's rom works with .54 already
installation guide on his thread itself
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264
Just follow instructions for fresh install
and if theres anything wrong just check his second post for faqs.
Anyway tethering works with barnacle and battery usually last 2 days+ for me with some heavy browsing, its depends on how you use your phone i guess
I have used the rom wolfbreak is very stable and he's always updating her ta ..
Even though it's not quite uploaded yet but check out tripnraver's 1.2.0. By all accounts it's gonna be sh1t hot!

Any Froyo ROM will have working camera, Gingerbread ROMs don't have the proper drivers fully functional yet. I know Trip and J have theirs working for VGA but that's about all.
Had too many battery issues with Trips ROMs and Wolfbreak has good stuff, but again, same issues with battery. Probably just me.
rdannar's AOSP Froyo ROM works very well, very fast, and battery gives me no problems.
well i ve tried a few since my baseband is also the same as urs.. cant figure which one really is the best outta the lot..
ive tried wolfbreak's rom n its damn fast n quite gud actually but as everyone's mentioned.. the battery is smwht of a problem..
trip's rom is quite gud 2 actually.. but agn it depends on taste..
As has been said..wolfbreaks rom is the best...
He will update to a new version in the next couple of days so it may be worth hanging on for that.
I have tested the new version (Using TW 007) and I can tell you that the battery is no problem at all. (24 - 36 hours with my normal use)
He has implemented the undervolt module (Which saves battery) and it has other tweaks that save battery.
You can also use the battery optimastion method from OmegaRed (The link is in my signature at the end of this post) which greatly helps with the battery. This can be used on any rom on the x10.
Yeah man, I'm looking for a good rom to use in my X10 as well. I'm having a big problem in changing my baseband (mine is 46) to 52/55/whatever, but I'm searching the forum to resolve it.
By the roms that I've seen around, I liked Cyanogen's and another that I can't remember right now, when I come home I'll write it down =P
I don't mind having a battery life of a day and half or so, don't have to be a 3-day long-life duration...
As soon as I find out what I'm doing wrong with the baseband issue, I'll start testing roms and then I post a righteous answer

You can get your desired baseband from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527 .
You can flash your baseband with flashtool : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 .
There is a guide out there for flashtool too.
For me, i tried:
Trip's roms. They are awesome but not for me thou.
Wolfbreak's roms are stable and it have a good battery life.
EWJet is one of the best I've used but it's based on Android 2.1
And currently I'm on J 's CM7. Working great so far, satisfied with it and probably will stay with it until new roms surface again
Yesssss man =D
I didn't have the xRec installed, I guess that was the problem. Updated bb to .55 and installed Cyanogen 6.1.3 Gingerbread. AWESOME!!!
I don't know about the rest of the roms out there, but this one is perfect for me, almost everything is 'tweakable', just loved it.
Erickwill's ROM is easily the most fully functional and fastest, because it is native 2.1 so everything works.
It makes 2.1 seem like 2.3, it's that good, and it was updated to use the new baseband as well.

The best one is the one you like best and does the job for you. Anything anyone says here will be their subjective opinion. There's nothing wrong with that, but you should try them all.

Questions like: what kernel, what baseband, got drunk and bricked my phone.... HERE
OK, first q: can someone post Neocore results on F1 and 06.12 franco`s kernel?
Baseband question: i'm on the new baseband (was on stock 2.3, then flashed to openoptimus). I really like the look of some of these .32 kernels and roms but everything says its for old baseband.
Can i go back to the old baseband? Is there a thread somewhere? Is it safe? From my own investigation, it looks to me like I don't go back to the old baseband, but rather flash some patch to make the roms work anyway. Sound right?

It won't be OK. If your phone uses the "new" baseband, ROMs made for the "old" baseband will work on your phone (as in flashing will be successful, the phone boots etc.) and everything works except for the most important thing in a phone: the GSM/UMTS module. Which means you won't be able to connect to your mobile network and won't be able to make and receive calls. Bummer. Now, there's a patch that solves this BUT something will still be missing: mobile data. You will be able to make and receive phone calls, but you won't be able to connect to the internet using the mobile data connection (only WiFi).
So, if you want to use a ROM that clearly states it's made for the old baseband, old baseband is what you must have on your phone in order for both calls and internet to work. How to tell which baseband do you have right now it's a different discussion and we'll get there if necessary. I just detailed vlt86's answer for you to understand.
EDIT: I see you already know what baseband you have - the new one. Follow voyager20021's link in order to find out how to return to the old one.
