Okay I've searched pretty well and have been unable to find a thread to get back to stock on the Thunderbolt. If I missed something I'm sorry and am an idiot. I was just wondering how I would get back to stock on the HTC Thunderbolt in case I need to.
There are instructions stickied in the development forum posted by jcase

Yes, it'll be just like the first time you used the phone; bloatware and all.
Hey Guys/Girls,
I was recently trying to update my atrix to Gingerbread which resulted in me bricking my atrix, I have tried to flash a stock sbf to it but it seems to keep getting an error stating "Chipset 53 not supported".
Could anyone help me try and revive my device?
Also whenever I try to flash it I get another error I will post a screen shot of it underneath.
Thanks in Advance
Seems to me you are trying to flash the wrong sbf. Btw, if you haven't seen the stickies, you may want to avoid the official gb Sbf and use the fruitcakes or other remade roms so that you don't have a potentially hard brickable device.
+1 That's the wrong file.

It depends on the device. I'm guessing your device is a Samsung device since you mentioned ODIN. What device (model) are you using?

You could still follow section D, but you will need to flash the stock 2.1 rom first available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 .

I wanted to know the best way to root....
The only thing I care about is tether to my moto Xoom. I really don't want to Boise warranty and have counter go up unless it is te BEST WAY
System flash
Overclock kernel
Root kernel
Wow 65 views and no opinion....
Well, I tried to copy the thread URL from the AT&T Note development forums but kept getting a force close so I just went to the browser to copy the link. I haven't rooted myself yet, but this seems to be the easiest way I've seen.
I imagine that it won't be to long before this is improved further. Anyway, here's the link to that thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504218
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Yea that's the kernel version, I just wanted to get opinions on what they used and why they think it's the best

That's the root that I used, and then I did his overclock kernel from another thread. The Note is my fourth Android phone and that's by far the easiest and fastest root that I've ever done. Literally, within minutes I was rooted and overlclocked.
I just want to be easy and safe... Not like I err break a phone and get warranty work... Knock on wood
system root only because it won't increase your flash counter so ATT/Sammy can't deny warranty on it if they choose.
I did system root for now until there is a way to reset the flash counter.
