[Q] Browser shortcut resets after reboot - Optimus One, P500, V General

I'm on rooted V10a(german stock) with the touchscreenfix kernel. I mostly use the Miren browser and put a shortcut in the dock on the homescreen. My prob is that every time I reboot the phone it is back to the stock browser shortcut. It is not that big of a deal since I reboot rarely but it is still bugging me and if possible id like to change that.
Thx

I changed Miren to internal memory and now it works. If someone has a clue how to make the shortcut stick while Miren is installed on SD card id like to know that.

Couple of themeing questions.

I'm currently using launcher pro plus and while I'm aware that there is no shortcut support (unless you are using froyo) I had read that it was possible to switch the dock functions by first setting their gesture, then opening a different launcher and editing a file with root explorer then rebooting.
Every time I do this, launcher pro still edits the file (located in /data/data/come.fede.launcher/shared_prefs). If anyone knows of a different way to do this, or if I am just missing something I'd like to know.
Also, I have been working on an application for a while that was a hybrid of google gesture search and the gestures in dolphin browser, I finally got the app to be able to map not only application openings but functions like volume up and down and back and menu.
A) is there a way to give this app a perma-soft key similar to the one in dolphin
B) is there a way to make the notification bar disappear when this app is running, so that in all other apps the notification bar is also gone.
C) I'd actually prefer to a softkey a long home press to open it up...maybe...or the option to pick. I cant for the life of me make the nook respond to a long n click...and I dont really wanna remap the volume buttons.
I am considering just mapping a button from soft keys to the app as of now, and then try to make it not so bandaided...but hell doing anything on the autonook is just kinda lame.
There was a suggestion a while back to install launcher pro on an android phone and set it up accordingly. Afterward, back your launcher pro settings. Launcher pro will back up to sd card and you can transfer to the nook

I actually did everything suggested in that thread, and the only thing that came close to working was pulling it from my phone, but even that resets after a reboot...my ONLY thought is that it may have something to do with the kernel I'm running...maybe...maybe?

Trouble with icons on homescreen

Ok so I have a very annoying problem with my evo. Everytime I restart the phone, the icon to any app that I have on my homescreen that is also saved on the sd card does not show up once my phone has restarted. In place of the icon is a standard android icon that takes me to the market when touched. I know that a simple fix is simply just to change the scene then change it back again to make the icons reappear, but it's such a hassle to have to do it everytime. Does anyone else have this problem, and does anyone know how to prevent it from happening so I dont always have to change the scene every time?
Put the apps back on the phone.
This is a gingerbread problem and I don't know why google hasn't done anything about it. It worked fine on Froyo on the 0g evo but as soon as gingerbread came out it appeared. The same thing happens if you use a widget for an app that you've moved to the SD card. After a reboot the widget will be disabled. Hopefully google will fix some day. It seems to be a problem with the sd card not being recognized before the apps and widgets are loaded on the homescreen. Maybe a change in the bootup sequence would help where the sd card is recognized before the home screen is rendered.

[Q] Go launcher widget problem.

Having an issue with the Go launcher Power Control Widget (that thing that lets you set wifi on/off, and 3 brightness levels).
It works perfect, until I turn my tablet all the way off. When I turn back on the tablet, it becomes a grey bar that says, "problem loading widget".
I can delete that from the home screen then put a new one on there and it will work until I do a complete power off.
If I go just into sleep mode it will work just fine.
My nook is rooted, but even before root when I put go launcher on there it was doing the same thing.
Any work around, or some other app/widget I can download that has wifi/brightness level adjustments?

Go launcher has some manner of permissions issue that causes widgets to fail to properly reload on boot (not wake from sleep). This procedure takes care of the problem. The only recommendation I have is to use the root management feature in ES File Explorer, rather than Root Explorer, since ES is a free app.
Didn't seem to work, but thanks for finding that link. I tried searching, but couldnt come up with anything.
Not a big deal, but was worth asking.

[Q] Tray Icon Issue please help

This is driving me totally nuts I have been trying for ages to figure this out and can't get it.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Totaly stock unrooted Android 2.3.5
My home screen had 4 icons at the bottom for quick launch.
Phone contacts messaging applications
Contacts is redundant since you can access that through the phone icon as well and I never use text messages so I swapped 2 of them for other apps so now the home screen is like this:
Phone Gmail Whatspp Applications
This is fine right up until I restart the phone
When it restarts all 4 are there until is "scans usb storage" at which point the gmail icon disappears
I have to manualy change my application tray from list back to grid view and then edit to put the icon back and then put it back in list view
The icon will then stay until the next restart
As I say this is driving me up the wall
Things I have tried:
Full factory reset and reconfigure the phone
Reboot of phone with tray in both list and grid mode
Clear data from twLauncher and set everything back up again
With and without external SD card installed in phone
No matter what I do as soon as I reboot that icon is gone and it always appears to be gmail.
And please I don't want people telling me to install a different launcher or to root the phone. I don't want it rooted and I tried the other launchers and don't like them
Dude - Sorry i dont have advice for you..but im sitting with something similiar..
Non-rooted phone..but when I reboot phone, the bottom icons (tray), get replaced by my last downloaded apps..for example, skype, flashlight and astro file manager...
After the phone has finished scanning they all return back to normal.
Im guessing this is some random bug, as I also tried clearing data from TWLAUNCHER and within time, after downloading some more apps, the same problem occurs.
Cheers

[Q] Help with my ICS annoyances for an easy transition from GB

Hi Guys,
I've been running CM7 on my SGS2 for quite some time now and decided to update to the latest CM9 nightly yesterday. Everything runs smooth but I have a few issues which annoy me and I hope some of you guys can help me find a workaround:
1. Is there a way to disable the pattern lock (and also the lockscreen) when I am connected to my wlan at home. I had this working perfectly with tasker on cm7 but it does not work anymore on ICS. I also tried unlock with wifi and new tasker scripts with the secure settings plugin, nothing worked
2. Automount my SD when I connect the phone. I used the MultiMount SD Widget on CM7 but it does not work anymore in ICS
3. Reduce the size of the ICS dock icons. I tried with Nova and Apex Launcher but the both do not have an option for that (Unlike ADW EX on CM7).
4. I use swype on CM7 and CM9, but everytime I type something on CM9 there is a notification showing in the statusbar asking me to switch my input method.
5. Slow scroll speed compared to CM7
I hope someone can suggest a workaround for those problems.
i completely agree with this list (except maybe number 4 which i found to be quite handy if you got multiple keyboards installed)
i'd like to add one to the list however:
6. i'm using swype too and i would like to know if there is any way to disable the ics word prediction when selecting a word i've already typed in swype
scratch that, i'm an idiot! can be easily disabled in android keyboard settings

Click to collapse
what exactly is the problem you're having with unlock with wifi? is it just that it doesn't support patterns on ics? if so, then you'll have no luck finding another app that does. ics broke the api that allows pattern locks to be turned on and off.
