since we already have a froyo kernel and froyo for our phones is working 100%, would someone like to port a froyo version of cyanogenmod until the gingerbread version is complete?
would be nice.. id take a whack at it but i dont even know where to start..
great idea! i support the sentiment, but unfortunately am not a coder either.
I am very intereste to have a fully working build of CM for o1.
I would help to develop.

I hope this can help
Build CM from source
I'm sure p500 source is out already, maybe devs won't have such a hard time on this. just maybe
was hoping this would stay in the dev section to get their attention oh well. im a noob but ill check out that link and see where it goes.. i dont think LG will release 2.3.3 next month.. itll probably take much longer than that..
yeah, I'd like to try that

Before the galaxy s? Is there any hope for a pure gingerbread and it looks like the evo is off and running with it smooth as butter with a minor hitch with gps issues... not sure how that works, the galaxy s and nexus s are almost identical hardware wise.

Looks like a lot of their roms are AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based. This means they can take the direct source of Android and modify their roms to the Evo hardware. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe anyone has built a good solid working rom for the Vibrant off of the AOSP source alone. We've been getting builds leaked from Samsung and modifying them to build the Vibrant roms you see now. I believe Team Whiskey is working on a AOSP rom and Cyanogen Mod is an AOSP rom that they are working on porting over to Vibrant. Master/Devs4Android released an AOSP clone. I believe someone else said they have Gingerbread working and they are just bug fixing at the moment.

Thanks for the insight mate, appreciate it. Just interesting.

I would venture to say that the Evo is usually the first phone to have this stuff ported to it. It's a high demand phone to get the best ROM's on so it usually gets them first. Don't get me wrong, I love my Vibrant, and so does Team Whiskey so they're working on 2.3, they have it ported but it's experimental still, they'll let us know when it's working. But as far as CyanogenMod goes, they usually port to the Evo first.
Where is the download link for this rom? When I search "Evo 2.3" I don't get any vibrant roms.
Silly developers forgetting links
</sarcasm>
also keep in mind, once the Vibrant 2.2 source is put out the devs will have easier time porting 2.3 also
How's the battery life on this rom? Can I flash it with clockwork mod? Do I have to disable voodoo?

Mooseberrypie is the best Rom for the Vibrant hands down. I hear they'll get honey comb running soon! haha brilliant.
Mooseberrypie bricked me. Anyone want to sign my Class Action Lawsuit petition? I have a lawyer, I promise
How is 2.2 source going to help with 2.3 code? That's like saying 2.1 source for our kernels helped us build a 2.2 build for our hardware.

Its funny when the witty comments just arent witty anymore.. i told my friend id get a bunch of trolls saying stuff like "does this wipe sd card" "do i need to disable voodoo"... its really old now, first person that ever did it got a chuckle... but i do agree that having 2.2 code prolly wouldnt help too much being its a porting...

What about my (soft bricked my pants joke )is that still good or?.....
simple answer is that its an htc phone, htc releases everything for their phones while samsung does not, though honestly I prefer my Vibrant to my G2

Definitely be good to have MIUI rom ported to the LG optimus one.. they are so quick and have nice themes.
Mat
Would love to get it on my P500 as well.
Maybe we can have this.

We are always ready to test. MIUI looks beautiful.
I would also like to test it...
I searched a bit about that... it can't be done because the MIUI is not open source... and when the the source is not available... there is no chance to make it work... somebody correct me if i'm wrong

As you can see im my previous screenshot, they said that there's a change to port it to our OO. Maybe if you gentlemen go and ask for it on their chat, we can have it sooner. We are a great community, let's spread the word and let it happen!
me tooo.....
I've talked with a nice guy on MIUI official chat, and he said me that we have to do the same thing developers did with the porting of the CM7. Since MIUI is not for our OO we have to "take" the version of the MIUI taken from a cell with similar specs, and then cook our ROM. So we need some cool guy that will do it for us. Sure we can be all betatester, but we need developers. Any suggestions?
Thanks, and sorry for my poor english
the apk graphics have been ported to MDPI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858935) , so i guess this would be a good starting point.

Not by me at all. Don't even think about pressing the thanks button. THank the dev
At least those of us who want to stick with Froyo till GB is complete have some hope for something new to play with.
Thanks for the heads up!
Dev said including this to other roms is not possible. You have to his rom to get this feature (which is for x8). It would be great if someone can make something like this for vibrant users who are in froyo roms.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It probably needs to be repackaged as part of the rom. It should be able to be included in a new rom, just not as a CWM flashable for existing roms.
Bumping this because he released source on his github just today.

first of all, you'll have to wait until someone figures out how to implement this into a current samsung rom.
The way i'm reading his mod, it was developed using CM6 as a rom base. Meaning he had rom source to work with to make this mod. This means it more than likely won't be able to be implemented in a samsung rom since we don't have samsung rom source (only kernel source).
So what is the point of having this in this forum, if it doesn't work on the Samsung Vibrant?
well, the OP did put [DEV] in the tags, marking it as interest for the devs to figure out how to get it working for us.
But, the other reason is people really like to jump to conclusions really fast, and tend to skip details. But the point of this thread was to get a person who knows how to read code and implement it's attention and try to get it working here.
Does anyone know if someone is in the process of porting CyanogenMod to the Atrix, since it is now possible
I know its usually secret until its kind of working, just can't resist knowing/asking !!
theres some work, look in http://stats.cyanogenmod.com/ and you'll find olympus in there, with 12 flashes i think
Isn't kholk working on it?? I thought I heard tell of that in a thread......
Look at my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15206862&postcount=23
That is the only reply that you'll get, every other is 'wait or do by your self"
I think they're probably waiting to official 2.3.3 update in order to make the CM7 much more efficient and useful.
Yes devs are working on it. An atrix is being sent to the dev that ported cm to one of the droids

Then maybe Mik,Andy and Franco.
Our phone are still running because of this Devs
I really loves there work

Well said, aspee. I got the OV from a friend who had been using it since it came out, and thanks to the devs of IHO it feels brand new. With new generations of phones come new opportunities, and I for one am pretty excited that these talented devs are bringing their skills to fresh hardware.
I'll quote myself here :
Certainly mik has NOT abandoned us, its just matter of watching his GIT, the last changes were ~5 days ago... Also he visits XDA p500 forum almost everyday (just check his online activity in his profile)....
And AFAICT i think he's currently updating to 7.2 cm7, so its matter of time, he's probably also fixing some ****e... Mmm, my ETA guess of v6.5.9 / 6.6.2 is: Xmas Present and next year i hope to see mik porting ICS CM9
Go mik Go!!!!

Cm7.2 nightlies are not continuing either, an update from cm team about cm9 status report... Which they already working on the last final update and bam! New nightlys are in... Like cm-galaxysmtd-full-0.zip!!! <<< The "0" is a new nightly which has new ICS!!!
Maybe mik is watching the cm-git before building... There is some new goodies in the new nightly and im sure mik is gonna cherry picking!

@DixElectron:
Still 7.2 is the most updated code (ceratinly that doesnt make it the more stable) and mik can or will gather some new code from there and he'll release a v6.5.9 / v6.6.2 i guess?? based on gingerbread....
You should watch his git and you'll see for yourself that the lastest movements correspond to "gingerbread" branch and NOT ICS!!!!!!!
Nah, if you check his github you can tell he's up to something.
