This is for people who want Cricket to work perfectly, just follow these instructions not skipping a beat and you will be OK from then on! If you are not having problems obviously skip this!
I have updated this thread ONLY to Change a step. Its not a Required Change for current Cricket users however, it may be needed for Phones that have never been on Cricket before. I also re-phrased some things to be more understandable.
This thread is assuming that you already have your phone Unlocked (spc code all zeros) and that you have already contacted Cricket and had the Phone you are programming added to the Account. You might as well tell them you have a Motorola Razor V3C that will ensure there will be no problems obtaining EVDO.
Also ask Cricket for your MSID/MIN number (usually not your Phone Number) we will be needing the MSID/MIN if you dont know it, or if the phone was never on Cricket before.
My HTC Unlock Tools Directory, Read SPC Instructions Readme
My Cricket WAP and Arcsoft new versions or my Cricket Carrier CAB <--If you are installing one of my Cricket CABs dont test it until your PST settings are correct.
This thread is also assuming that you already have a CRICKET PRL file loaded in PST. If you have my ROM flashed than a couple PRL files that you can use are on device memory we will get to that later below.
Important note on PRL files. You must know what kind of Cricket Plan you have. If you have Roaming on your plan you need to use the 5 digit PRL files. If you DO NOT have Roaming on your plan you must use the PRL files that are considered 4 digits or contain a 0 at the beginning. Otherwise *228 will not work and you will not be able to Authenticate. Some report for users with roaming you may have to use PRL 1042 and set your SID to be able to *228. Examples below.
PRL 01013 = Non Roaming
PRL 38515 = Roaming
1. Now first thing you want to do is have a good Cricket CAB or ROM installed. This way when the PST settings are done they can be looked over again, and tested.
2. Now if you are starting from a fresh flash OK, if you are starting from a hard reset OK, we can continue. If you have a ROM installed that is having problems I recommend a hard reset and skip Auto Customizations using stylus when it says you have 3 seconds. If you are confident the ROM you have installed is ready to go then fine. We can continue.
3. Now open your Phone Application and go to options and make sure smart dial is off. Then dial ##778 call button (PST/EPST), now click edit and enter six zeros. In the Main Page change the NAM name to Cricket, and enter the MSID/MIN number (that you obtained from your old Cricket phone or from Cricket themselves) make sure its a 10 digit number thats in your area code BUT IT IS USUALLY NOT your PHONE NUMBER. If it was already fine we can continue, if you dont know it you may of skipped obtaining this from calling Cricket as stated above. Now click view info and goto PRL, now check to make sure you have a CRICKET PRL (1013,1014, 1040, 1050 etc.. there are others) If you dont have one loaded in PST and you are using my ROM then you can click in Update PRL File (click in the blank area under setting) and then click Menu, edit, browse and it should go to main root (my documents). Pick PRL 1050 (You may have to try another PRL for *228 to work in step below). Then click ok, then Menu, then ok, it will ask you if you want to update the items click ok. Let it do its thing and restart. If you already have a CRICKET PRL then skip the update PRL step but still make sure to click menu, then ok and let it restart.
4. Now after the phone restarts open phone application again and dial *228 call button (this will make sure base settings are good so i will not have to explain as much, it will also download the proper local EVDO prl to where you are), it will dial cricket and do its programming thing. Do not interrupt this. Let it do its thing even if it restarts. It should say Update complete or Programming complete (if not then try a different Cricket PRL) Now when you are back in action we can continue.
5. Now open the phone application and dial ##778 call button (PST/EPST), now click edit and enter six zeros. Now click view info and goto AKEY and make sure its blank, nothing there. Now click view info and goto NAM settings, NAM name should be Cricket, Mobile Directory number should be YourTenDigitPhoneNumber, MIN1 should be that other phone number the MSID/MIN that is usually not your phone number, but it should be 7 digits, ex: sevendigitnumber, MIN2 should be just your area code. MSID/MIN should be 10digitMSIDnumber <--again usually not yourphonenumber, This part I only know for USA users MCC should be 310, MNC should be 00 (for other Countries you have to look this up), NMSI should be your MSID/MIN (XX10digitnumber<--usually not your phone number) THE XX'S should be zeros, ex: 007185548692, Now if all these settings in this paragraph didnt need touched assuming you didnt skip any of my steps (which they shouldnt be touched i am just making sure) we can move on.
6. Click view info and goto CDMA settings, we are going to make sure they are set right and change a couple things for Clearer voice transmissions, people will compliment how good your phone sounds even in some cases. EVRC should be set at Disable, Home page should be Voice 13k, the Two below it the Same Voice 13k.
7. Click view info click modem settings, change slot cycle index to 1, This will make the phone ring a little sooner, also get your texts a bit sooner. The other 4 options should be Auto, Auto, Enable, No in Order from top to bottom.
8. Click View Info and pick Security, now we are changing this regardless you must do this, we are going to Unauthenticate you and Re-authenticate, it is a Needed step everything in this How To needs to be done and Not skipped! Change the HDR Auth User ID to something bogus like [email protected], the password below it make it something random but remember it, now do the same for PPP user ID and password but make them the same as the HDR ones.
9. Click view info and pick MIP Settings, Make sure Active Profile is on 0, MIP mode should be Simple IP only, MIP reg retries should be 1, MIP reg retry timeout should be 2000 ms, MIP pre-reg timeout should be 30, Mobile Node HA auth should be Disable, send a reg request should be Enable, dormant handoff to disable.
10. Click view info and pick MIP Default Profile, Enable profile should be ENABLE, NAI should be [email protected], MN HA SPI set should be enable, MN HA SPI value should be 12c, MN AAA should be enable, MN AAA SPI value should be 2, reverse tunneling should be enable, home address should be 0.0.0.0, Primary HA address should be 68.28.15.12, secondary should be 68.28.31.12, HA shared secret and AAA secret should be cricket <--lowercase, DMU public should be 0, MN Authenticator should be 0.
11. Click view info and pick MIP customer profile 1 and make sure Enable profile is DISABLED. Now do the same with the other 4 profiles (profiles 2-5), make sure that the only profile enabled is MIP Default Profile.
12. Ok now click menu, ok and let it reset, but make sure not to do anything we are going to be going right back INTO EPST, so when it boots back up open the Phone application and dial ##778 call button (PST/EPST), we are going to re-authenticate you its easy, now click edit and enter six zeros, click view info and goto Security, now change the HDR AN Auth to [email protected], password should be cricket<--lower case, same for PPP user id and Password make them same as HDR.
13. Click view info and goto MIP default profile, make sure the HA, and AAA shared secrets are both cricket<---lowercase, then click menu OK and let it reset.
Thats it! PST settings are perfect for CRICKET, you have a Local EVDO prl file installed, and you are Authenticated for Data and EVDO, now if you used my ROM just go to internet explorer and goto a real page, and follow instructions but remember to click save password! You can also go back into the Phone Application and turn smart dial back on if you choose.
Thats done, every Custom ROM flash from now on should never affect your PST settings and you should always be Authenticated. I hope this helps everyone.

Good write up for this. I have one big problem. when I try to *228, it fails after just a couple of seconds and says,
“The number of SPC attempts failed 15 times from the network. Handset will free for 1 minute and will then reset.” I read a post that was obscure but said that the SPC should be six 0's Mine is not all zeros. I don't know how to change mine to all zeros if that is the case
Thanks
That is the case, for *228 to program your SPC code needs to be all zero's or all 3's (make it zero's though) just follow My Unlock pack and Instructions, it guides you through changing your SPC to all zeros.
Cheers.
RECOGNIZE
Qpst will not recognize my phone
thanks for the great info. as a note, changing the EVRC setting (#7) to 'Voice 13k' kills my phone connection; i couldn't make or receive calls. everything else seems fine!
About Voice 13k Settings
Read the settings again, maybe you missed something.
Check these four settings, also make sure you have used *228 and let it UPDATE your PRL, don't do it manually afterwards. Then check all of the above settings over again and you should be good. I have researched, tested, and used these settings for a long time.
EVRC should be disabled
Home Page should be Voice 13k
Home Orig should be Voice 13k
Roam Orig should be Voice 13k
Since your phone is digital, it uses a codec to determine how the voice data is compressed into digital. Voice 13k (Qualcomm's Purevoice) is the highest voice rate. EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate Codec) benefits the carriers because it uses a reduced rate, which means less bits to stream, more calls to go around. Voice 13k is in fact the updated version of EVRC that our Digital phones have the option to select from. Voice 13k should be enabled for optimal voice quality.
Take Care
heres why your *228 doesnt work for you..
This is for the User Vickie that needed a little help.
In order to use *228 for Cricket You need to have a Cricket PRL already loaded on the Device meaning installed from PST. You also need the phones SPC code to be all zero's (000000) Then *228 will work fine. It will then update your settings and DL a new PRL if a better one exists. This is for Cricket. If that works out you can follow my settings over again.
hey ryan i have installed your V1.1 Heavy Cricket rom, works great, thxs a lot
neways i was going trough this and i did every step to the letter, now mine didn't work... so i have to ask you a few questions...
first, once i am done with this, and if i did it correctly, i can now make calls and internet right? (hopefully this is yes...)
ok so assuming the answer to the above is yes, then i have to ask.
On step 3, you say if we have your ROM we can just update the PRL from there and to skip the "update step". by update step i'll assume you meant step 4. but then in step 4 you say "for both people who had to restart and people who didnt" and then you say to dial *228
so do we do that even if we already have your PRL loaded?
or do we never have to dial *228 if we have ur prl file?
also, on the profiles, in the M.IP settings, my phone had "6" profiles by default, should i set it to 5 like yours or what?
ok i got everything working beautifully, thanks for the instructions... it's just that i wasn't supposed to dial *228, and i did
anyways, my internet works, and holy cow i get bursts of 2mbps!
well one last thing i gotta ask is... so my calling doesn't work, so i have to call cricket or something to have them switch it to mine right?
on a sidenote, do you guys actually use IE? isn't there like firefox mobile or something??
PST settings are not the Only thing that matters for Internet(WAP) or for MMS. The ROM you are using also has to be configured properly for Cricket WAP/MMS to work. My ROM does but not everyone uses My ROM.
This thread will get your Phone's 1X and EVDO set up correctly. Which will ensure that if your ROM is configured properly that Calls/Text/WAP/MMS will all work. But this thread is NOT the only thing that matters. Read the end of my TOP post and it tells you what the Thread sets up..
Now for your other questions: In this PST settings thread Step 3 says that if you are using MY ROM and the phone doesnt have a Cricket PRL loaded in PST that my ROM has Cricket PRL's copied on it to Update PST with(after updating PST with Cricket PRL phone will soft reset).
This means that YES you need a Cricket PRL loaded(updated) in PST before dialing *228 and then it will restart and then on with the rest of the settings. Dialing *228 gets a local(to your AREA) EVDO PRL loaded in PST(which is downloaded from Cricket Realtime) and sets up base PST settings so that this thread is easier. It explains that in the TOP post at the TOP..
ok in the version of your ROM that i installed, which would be the V1.1 Heavy, it says in that post this:
"Messaging and Connections settings: <--Please do not mess with these as they are fine tuned for CRICKET!! It will always work perfect for you if you leave it alone I cant be responsible if anyone changes anything but you can always post your problems in this thread and I will be more than happy to help sort it out.
"
and this; "Fully working and tested Cricket WAP and MMS/SMS with no problems! I did a lot of tweaks to registry and provisioning to make this possible as the base I used(1.3.4) was originally meant for Sprint!! I pulled a lot of "All Nighters" put it that way lol."
so i thought i don't have to set up my MMS/WAP...
and do i still have to call *228??
***EDIT***
i just called *228, and they said: "sorry we cannot program your phone"
my internet still works... but that's the only thing that works so far, i can't make calls. or send txt msgs.

Ok if you dont understand it just give up. Please quit cluttering up this thread with YOUR problems. a ROM's settings and PST settings are two different things and they both need to be set up right to work!!
MY Cricket ROM is already set up for WAP/MMS, but not everyones version of a Cricket Rom is set up perfect. But your PHONE's PST settings still need set RIGHT as a ROM does not touch that!!
PST settings are independent of ROM settings.
Your problem with dialing *228 is because YOUR SPC CODE IS NOT SET TO ALL ZERO'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPC code needs to be all Zero's and you need a Cricket PRL loaded (updated) in PST before dialing *228!
It says that in the beginning of this thread. No wonder I am mad. Read well before you follow through
You people seriously have to learn how to read things before trying something. Read, read, read, read, read. Until you fully comprehend what you are trying to accomplish and THEN mess with things.
Edit: My threads are not meant to BABY STEP someone new through the entire process of unlocking, flashing, and programming a phone. NOT AT ALL.. The threads are meant to Help and that is what they do..
ok... wow there
look the reason why i was asking is because you only included this link in your ROM posting thread, you did not include any other links or procedures...
same here, you only include information to do one thing, i see no relevant information pointing to the "other settings" you're talking about.
EDIT:
i had already previously unlocked my phone with another program, but just to double check i used your unlocking pack and followed the instructions. when i run BAF MSL Grabber, it already gives me my MSL code as being 000000, so i am assuming my phone is already unlocked.
but i went ahead and tried to go trough with your thingy anyways, and i got stuck at the ##3424# thing. none worked, ##3424# nor ##3424
i had to use the DIAG(DRMRouter) that took me a while to find in your ROM and i am in QPST right now...
hey Ryan... actually everything works, it's just i was unsure if i still needed to "go down to the store" to get my phone line switched to this new phone with cricket...
neways everything works... including mms, internet, so on so forth. i just haven't tested the gps
Awesome man, I knew I would fuel your fire to get it working. Thats why I am who I am lol. My GPS works awesome. Alot of people dont know this but Agps works with my Cricket ROM. Take care.
Updated the PST settings
I have updated this thread to clear up any problems with New Cricket users that have never had Cricket before. I re-phrased a few things and changed a step so that both New and Current users will not have any problems.
actually about what i said in my last post, i never tested the GPS on the rom so i don't know if it works...
i just know that if i go to google maps, it never locks on to a satellite, dunno why
oh btw, i had to tell yah, the reason why i couldn't dial *228 is because at least in my area, cricket won't recognize the 1050 PRL. everything works with it, but it just won't let me do the *228 thing.
i had to use the 1042 PRL, and then everything worked, just a heads up.
RyanMogul6800 dude not only do I want to say thanks for the settings thread, but your ROMs are awesome. Quick question to anyone who might be able to answer it, this is the first time I get a mogul not to work on mms, i tried all settings, and read through a lot of threads and still no dice, is it possible that the settings might need to be refreshed on the cricket network side? internet and sms work flawlessly, just MMS does not work, it stays stuck at downloading 0%. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Ok I have ryans heavy rom, and it may seem weird but I installed his mms wap fix from his sig and now it works flawlessly!
Glad you like, but MMS works on MY ROM without that CAB
My ROM works flawless without using the MMS fix CAB from my Shared Site. That CAB is for users not using my ROM or that have messed up their settings on their own.
Now assuming you already have PST set correct and that you are Using MY Cricket ROM.
First thing you do after MY ROM is booted up and running is MAKE SURE ITS UNPLUGGED and WI-FI is OFF! I hate when people leave the phone Cradled for all of their Flashing and Programming. It needs wi-fi off and needs to be unplugged to set up WAP. You need WAP (DATA) set up for MMS to work. So you want to make sure you have unlimited DATA plan with Cricket.
Now after the Phone with MY ROM is unplugged and wi-fi is off simply open up Internet Explorer and Navigate to a real webpage(yahoo.etc) and then enter the info and password click save. Done.
There are some cases after setting up with Cricket needing to call them again and have the account refreshed on their end. There are other instances where Crickets end takes a long time to refresh automatically on their own.
I really believe you ran into a Cricket account refreshing delay problem. Installing the Arcsoft MMS fix cab had nothing to do with why your MMS works now. Do not try uninstalling that CAB to prove me wrong as it will mess up the ROMs settings and will require you to hard reset.
What you could do if you really want to know for sure, is hard reset then let the ROM boot and set up the Internet with phone unplugged. After that I am willing to bet that you can send and receive MMS without installing the CAB we are referencing.
I am glad you like the settings and the ROM.
are you working on a WM 6.5 rom for cricket?
Thanks,
Scott
I have a new what i was told is an unlocked atrix on the sasktel network. i can call and text but i can't save my apn settngs to get my internet working. the wifi works fine but not the network one. please help, my provider won't
What are your current APN settings? Go to Settings >Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks>Access Point Names
Neither will mine. Unlocked Bell Atrix on MTS.
I have no APNs listed, and they never show up once saved.
Not sure what other network settings are..but I'm unlocked on Telus and my apn settings are: sp.telus.com
When I first entered them I had so.telus.com and had phone and SMS but no mobile data until I realized my typo.

Hello buddy,
i had the same problem and the solution that i found is to set a new apn and just set the following choices
1. Name
2. Apn
3. port
All other choices left blank.
I did that and it works perfect.

Are you rooted?
If yes try to change the /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/telephony.db add the apn in there
no i am not rooted i did not want to do that till i knew i got everything running.
I tried and tried to get the Bell Atrix to work.
APN Manager: no luck
Network Info II: no effect when settings changed either in OS or APN manager.
Whenever an APN was typed in, it would "save" (proven by APN Manager) but not be selectable, it just disappears once menu-save.
Returned it and purchased a Nexus S, took all of a minute to get data working.

Perhaps i didn't explain correct.
Make a new apn change the first four choices and left the other unchanged(not blank)

i am rooted now. can you explain this method a little bit for me
i cant just change the first four because the MCC and the mnc are not registering i have to enter them manually. my provider says it is not reading them from the sim card for some reason. i rooted the phone now. i am going to try getting into it from there
The easiest way I found was download SQLite editor. Its a few dollars. Then open it and click yes for root. Go to dialer storage then telephony.DB. then carriers. Add your apn to the list. If eceything is correct it should work. If the phone does not read the mcc then you may be screwed though.

to keep root and install custom rom if that is also what you fancy
This is my first how to here so I know it will sucks but oh well lol.
I saw someone post on general forums about voice quality. For what reason this isn't set to default i don't know.
What this does is enables and changes your Voice codec(unless its called something else) to EVRC-B.
Requirements: Need your MSL #
To get your MSL # you can either call sprint and play dumb(I say i need to reprogram my phone) or since we have root download MSL Reader off the market.
Step 1: Once you have the MSL # go to you dial pad and press ##3282#.
Step 2: You will get a window that says EPST, hit the Edit Mode. This will prompt you for your password. Type in your MSL number there and hit OK.
Step 3: Now your are in the EPST, Go to the Advanced menu.
Step 4: Scroll down till you see Vocoder. Enable this if it not by pressing on it and slecting enable.
Step 5: Below Vocoder is the EVRC-B, do the same thing if it is not enabled.
Step 6:Next setting is the Home Orig and Roam Orig. You want to change these to EVRC-B.
Step 7: Press your menu button, Commit Modifications will appear. Press it to save the changes. This will automatically reboot your phone.
Once it is back up, people should notice a better call quality from you.
Written pretty ****ty huh? lol
I've heard not all of the towers use all of the codecs.. but I'd think that wouldn't be a problem unless roaming or in rural areas.

EDIT: I got it to work
I did this on my EVO 4G... I don't think it made any difference whatsoever.
Tried this on Synergy's latest nightly. It didn't automatically reboot the phone, but I lost signal completely. I'm manually rebooting now, I'm praying that it works properly.
What are the default values, in case I need to change it back?
Have tried this before and completely lost signal. YMMV.
I am trying to figure out the completely unnecessary use of profanity at the end of your post though. Try to have some class when posting in a forum read by all age groups. Read the Forum Rules regarding use of language which may be offensive to others.
I ended up booting just fine, got my signal back as well. I guess Synergy just wasn't interested in getting rebooted
I'll see if it works, it's about 4 in the morning for me, so I can't really call anyone.

Improve CDMA Call Sound Quality via a Codec Change.
A few instances of this Codec change have popped up on XDA, PPCG, and even androidforums. For this reason, I'm unable to give credit to the original source. I have gathered as much data into one place around the subject. There are a few important things to note. This adjustment changes the Codec used to compress the voices of you and your caller across the Cell Network using EVRC-B which is an updated revision to the current CDMA standard EVRC. It has been noted in a few places, that making this change CAN effect your ability to make outbound calls in some roaming situations, including over Network extenders like the AirRave. As always, YMMV and I STRONGLY recommend that you both test this change in your normal use environments as well as keep a general idea of these instructions handy in the event you need to revert to the default settings in an emergency. As always, YOU and YOU ALONE are FULLY responsible for changes to any handset in which these and any modifications are made.
1. With MSL in hand, go to the Phone app and dial ##3282#
2. Click Edit Mode
3. Your "Password" is your Phone's MSL, enter it here.
4. Click Advanced
5. Scroll down the list and note the entries for EVRC-B, Home Orig, and Roam Orig.
6. Change EVRC-B to "Enable"
7. Change Home Orig and Roam Orig to "EVRC-B"
8. Hit Menu, and select "Commit Modifications"
9. Your phone will prompt you to click ok to restart or it will restart automatically.

6. Change EVRC-B to "Disable"
7. Change Home Orig and Roam Orig to "EVRC"

Hi EPST and reprogramming your phone, a comprehensive guide
I see a lot of posts in dev threads like "i flashed your rom now my signal/data is gone" so i decided to create this guide to help relieve unnecessary posts. Hope it helps
An introduction to EPST
Epst is a application that sprint uses to activate/program a phone. It read/writes to the NAM of your phone.NAM is an acronym for Numeric Assignment Module and is the place in TDMA/CDMA equipment where your phone number, ESN, system information and data settings live. In the old days we programmed handsets by hand, now it is usually done OTA (much is preset, a little is manually entered, data provisioning is truly OTA). It has many uses but this guide will concentrate on the data portion of epst. Here are the 3 codes that we will be using:
##3282# (data)
##72786# (scrtn)
##786# (reverse logistics support)
Keep in mind you will need your msl either from sprint (its really easy to get), or msl reader from the maket (root required)
##3282# (Data)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The Data menu is broken down into 6 menus and usb charging selection.
1. Data Profile: This is where you can setup multiple data profiles (not sure why you would to) and contains your sprint username and other info on your data profile.
2. Evdo: Two menus here DDTM and preferred mode. DDTM is an option to where if you are downloading over your 3g/1x it will send calls to voice mail. It can be useful if you are trying to download a large file over 3g and don't want it to be interrupted. Preferred mode is exactly that... your network preferred mode. There are several settings there all of which are safe to use. Mine is set to cdma hdr only because i have no lte in my area. In theory it should save a little battery life by not scanning for lte.
3. Advanced: This menu contains a lot of important info. From your esn/meid to toggling lte.
There a few settings in here you can tweak to possibly benefit from.
A. Slot Cycle Index (SCI): This determines how often a handset polls the network for coverage and incoming packets. The default value is 2. A "Slot" is 1.28 seconds and doubles with each incremental change from 0 to 7 (0=1.28, 1=2.56, 2=5.12 seconds, etc). setting a handset to poll more often may use noticeably more battery if coverage is thin or lacking.
B. ACCOLC (Access Overload Class): This code determines your priority to make and receive calls on the network. Higher the number, lower the priority. Lower the number, higher the priority. Emergency Services reserves 0 + 1 (please do not use these) leaving your choices to 2-9.
C.Removing the Sprint Proxy
1. With MSL in hand, go to the Phone app and dial ##3282#
2. Click Edit Mode
3. Your "Password" is your Phone's MSL, enter it here.
4. Click Advanced
5. Scroll down to RTSP/HTTP Setting
6. Change RTSP proxy IP to 0.0.0.0 or You can leave this blank if you like
7. Change RTSP proxy Port to 0 (Zero)
8. HTTP proxy IP to 0.0.0.0 or You could leave this blank if you like
9. HTTP proxy port to 0 (Zero)
10.Once complete, back out to the home screen and enjoy Downloads and a .20- .60 mbps increase in 3G speeds!
It may not hurt to verify the settings are in place by following steps 1 through 5 again, if you're OCD. Removing this proxy removes at least one or more hops in between you and your connection destination, possibly increasing your WAN connection speed via 2G/3G/4G and Wi-Fi. As always, use at your own risk and take a screen shot of your original settings.
D. Improve CDMA Call Sound Quality via a Codec Change:
To reverse the changes, repeat all of the above steps except change the following.
6. Change EVRC-B to "Disable"
7. Change Home Orig and Roam Orig to "EVRC"
Click to learn more about EVRC and EVRC-B
4. DSS:Not sure if these really need to be messed with unless you have flashed to another carrier...
5. LTE Record Various logs and scan rates for LTE safe to adjust...
6. PDN Setting I only found one document which seemed to pertain to this Here There are 3 sub menus internet, ota, and pam (phone as modem?). If anyone knows more about this fell free to chime in. :good:
##72786# (SCTRN)
This menu contains 4 sections containing your MDN, MSID, M.IP Custom Profile1-NAI and AAA shared secret password. All of these are unique to your data profile and should never change. The ##code is used to reset these 4 items to re-provision your phone without wiping any data.
##786# (Hard Reset)
This menu contains a lot of the same info as the previous codes with a little extra. It is used for the quintessential "hard reset". This will completely wipe data/app, your internal sd, and NAM so your phone can be re-provisioned.
FAQ SECTION
Note: I do not fully understand how or why the NAM section of your phone becomes corrupt but is does. I have never had to call sprint to have them fix my data so i hope this helps.
Q. Help im stuck on 1x/2g.
Q. I just flashed your rom now i have no signal help!
Q. My data speeds really suck lately anyone else?
Note: All these fixes must be preformed on a stock or stock based rom with epst support and make sure you are in a known good signal area
A. These are all very common questions i have seen around here in the past years and are all very easy to fix... process below.
Whenever i have data issues whether it be stuck on 1x, no data/signal, or slow data, I always follow the following steps...
1. ill just do a profile update and see if that helps.
2. If that doesn't help this is my next step.
Enter Dialer
##3282#
select edit and enter MSL
select data profile
select menu and select Restore
reboot and update profile
3.Still no worky?
Enter Dialer:
##72786#
select edit and enter MSL
select menu and then Reset
After phone goes through "hands free activation" and your back at your dialer, enter this:
##3282#
select edit and enter MSL
select data profile
select menu and select Restore
After your rebooted and back at your home screen go into settings/system updates/ and update your profile.
4. This is your last step before calling sprint (which i have never had to, this has always worked for me).
THIS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING IN DATA/APP AS WELL AS YOUR INTERNAL SD! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED SO MAKE A BACKUP
Enter Dialer
##786#
select menu and select reset
enter msl and select ok
After phone goes through "hands free activation" go into settings/system updates/ and update your profile and you should be set
This guide is a WIP, and yes i know most of this information is already in some thread buried somewhere but I thought a little consolidation was in order. Maybe we can get data questions in here and there wont be 4 pages of someone trying to figure out why their data wont work in a dev thread.:good:
Also this is my first attempt at a guide...go easy on me.
Prl Information
PRL INFORMATION AND UPDATING
Thank you Digiblur for letting me kang some of your OP. I really appreciate it. Go thank this guy NAOWZ!
Take a moment and read this article before reading any further: What is a PRL?
PRL Series - Acct- Device
25xxx = Residential acct - LTE/800SMR
24xxx = Business acct (some 3G roaming added) - LTE/800SMR
55xxx = Residential acct - worldphone LTE/800SMR

16xxx = Corporate acct (VZW 3G roaming) - LTE/800SMR
11xxx = Corporate acct (VZW 3G roaming) - no LTE/no 800SMR

60xxx = Residential acct - no LTE/no 800SMR
21xxx = Residential acct - no LTE/low priority 800SMR

800 SMR Enabled PRLs/Areas
xxx13 - DFW, Chicago, Baltimore, North CA, Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, New Mexico, New York, Orlando, San Antonio and Southern California
PRL Change Logs and Full Analysis' can be found on this website:
www.batonrougebroadband.info This is Digiblurs site the guy is full of info
PRL 00001, 00002, 00003, and 01337 are modded PRLs that force your phone to use Verizon's network for voice and 3G Prl 15094, 15096, 17098 are PRLs that force you to use US Cellular's network for voice and 3G. Use these for TESTING purposes only. I do not recommend or condone using them 100% of the time. You will not be able to determine when you are roaming. You won't even be able to tell if you roaming internationally!! There is a 300mb data cap and other minute based roaming caps with Sprint. Myself or this website are NOT responsible if you break your Terms of Service and get your contract terminated. Discussions about how to get your contract terminated using these non-Sprint PRLs will not be tolerated and will be deleted. If Verizon/USCC works for you and Sprint's service does not, then you need purchase Verizon/USCC service.
Common PRL Myths
1. A PRL is not a list of towers. It's a list of cell phone systems that your phone searches for.
2. It will not make your phone connect to different Sprint 3G towers.
3. It will not give you better Sprint PCS band 3G or 1X coverage.
4. It will not give you better LTE coverage.
5. An update is not required for new cellular sites.
6. The only time a PRL update will give you better native Sprint coverage is when 800mhz SMR (BC10) support is added and enabled in your area.
7. You can not use AT&T, VZW, or US Cellular LTE with a use of a different PRL
8. Don't believe the nonsense and lies that a Sprint rep will tell you about PRLs (they were never trained on PRLs and only go by rumors and hearsay instead of facts)
Prl updating without a pc.
NOTE: This will only work on sense roms with epst support.
On device prl update is now possible. I would like to thank rulingczar for some help looking in the right place. All you have to do is edit 1 line in build.prop.
How to change the build.prop:
There are a few ways to change build.prop. The easiest imo is to use an app like kernel tuner to change it. KT even has a nice backup and restore option. You could also take your favorite file explorer and navigate to /system and open build.prop as text and edit there. If you are adb savvy then you could pull the file, edit it with a program like notepad++, and push it back to your device with proper permissions.

1 .Reboot and let the system fully load (or there will be lag in Epst) and enter dialer.
2. Enter ##778# and choose edit. Enter MSL and choose prl.
3. Select update prl and select a prl from your sd card.
4. Select menu in the upper right corner and commit modifications.
5. Epst will reboot the device and the prl should be applied.
6. It is always a good idea to update your profile after a prl change. Enjoy!

They also give it to you in an email if you do an esn swap (change phones) online. They also give directions how to program your phone in the e mail. They like to refer to it as "a six digit number" lol.

As I recall, going into the individual PDN items on that list while in edit mode will delete individual entries if they are accidentally selected and no info in entered in the field ie you select the field to edit and you can't cancel out to get the data previously populated in that field.
Has anyone successfully backed up and restored CDMA "APN"s? Even looking under the hidden function "CDMA APNs" shows no actual APNs in the traditional GSM sense.
They aren't kept in the apns Conf. Look in mms_config.xml in the mms.apk.
There is a program that can decompile apks to actual source code not smali. I would like to have a look through the epst.apk and see how it works. May be able to get more features.

That would be awesome, im just a union electrician, and dont know too much about java... Speaking of more features im attaching a copy of epst from android 2.1 eclair. It had the feature to change prl's on the fly via handset ##PRL#. It was ported to 2.2 and 2.3. I dont think anyone really tried to get it going on ICS which would be very nice. I would definitely appreciate if anyone got it to work...
Well on the fly prl changing is once again possible on the info bar rom by newtoroot
This is on a us cellular prl. :thumbup:
Here is the epst apk:http://db.tt/Lghf8UVb
I haven't been able to get it to work but I only tried on viper rom. I'll try more later tonight...
Edit: forgot to mention the code is ##778# then enter your msl.

**Welcome to the Fox Den!**
This is a short guide for accessing the APN settings to edit, as well as enabling Native Hotspot while you're in there.
This method involves using Shortcut Master Lite to access the APN settings so that it can be edited to add needed settings without using ADB. The steps are as follows:
Step 1 - Download Shortcut Master Lite from the Play Store.
Step 2 - Open Shortcut Master Lite and select the Menu (three vertical dots in the upper right).
Step 3 - Select App Explorer, and then All Apps
Step 4 – Navigate (scroll down) to com.test.LTEfunctionality and select.
Step 5 – Select the first item labled "LTEFunctionalityTest" and select launch.
Step 6 – Scroll down to LTE APN Setting and select.
Step 7 – Select the APN setting to edit or select add to add your own.
Step 8 – After editing or adding APN settings, select menu and save your settings.
Congratulations, you have successfully edited and saved your APN settings.
Enable Native HotspotStep 10 –Select APN2 LTE internet (Sprint) or your carrier internet APN.
Step 11 - Scroll down to APN type and select.
Step 12 - Add "DUN" to the setting (it should read "default,mms,DUN") without quotations.
Step 13 - Select Menu and save your settings
Congratulations, your device now has Native Hotspot without having to toggle data!
*I have tested this on Unlocked and Carrier version on Sprint as well as my wife's Sprint S8+. Survives reboot and updates (latest one anyways).
Update : must reapply if you update prl or profile!
Disable automatic updates so that profile updates does not remove!
Please let me know if you have to add anything specifically for other carriers and I will update this post.*
And as always, I cannot be held liable for the damage or malfunction of your device using these files,
you proceed at your own risk and remove my liability by continuing to the downloads portion of this post!

It is greyed out for many...editing the actual settings, for hotspot, prevent having to toggle data on and off...for one example....no need for adb as well....
Does anyone know if this also works for Bluetooth tether?
Similar question since you figured this out. Is there a way to modify the APN2 in a roundabout way like this that bypasses the proxy servers for carriers like sprint since modifying the APN2 directly is out of the question since much is grayed out.

I'm sorry I mean when I go to the ##3282## menu to get rid of the proxy is not under the APN's. It is under "Data Profile" which when you click on it is all greyed out and can't be modified. That is what I need to be able to edit to bypass proxys and prevent sprint from throttling.
Wondering if there is a shortcut to get to that as well to be able the modfiy those settings.
Edit: sorry that is not where I need to edit. I need to find a Multimedia menu option in the DATA menu which for the Note 8 there isn't one listed. I then need to modify RTST Proxy, HTTPPD Proxy to all 0.0.0.0's
Anyone know where that option or a shortcut to that option is?

Sorry, I don't have access to a Verizon phone...you might find a test feature in the settings...
did you try the adb method? That method works but you have to disable the Verizon hotspot app and toggle the data on a and off when using the hotspot...
Alternatively you can try ##3282# and select edit and then enter your MSL # (can get it from your carrier)...

##3282# does nothing on my verizon phone, it doesn't open a hidden menu. I will play with some of the other menus see if I can't get in.
I have tried using the Disabler method to disable the apps, that doesn't seem to work. I followed the instructions for ADB but when I turn of mobile data it just complains it doesn't turn on the Hotspot.
I have tried the "Bad wi-fi" password method which also doesn't work because when I enable my hotspot it immediately disables my Wi-Fi before I can disable it manually.
I have tried leaving mobile data on, turning on the hotspot and before I can turn mobile data off, the app is already complaining about my lack of a subscription.
It seems to me like Verizon is serious LOL!
Thank you OP.
Works for me.

Please let me know if you have to add anything specifically for other carriers and I will update this post.*
And as always, I cannot be held liable for the damage or malfunction of your device using these files,
you proceed at your own risk and remove my liability by continuing to the downloads portion of this post!

No VPN...carriers can't tell the different between shared data and host data...it is just data...
If unlocked is flashed with carrier Firmware it is as if it were carrier phone...even OTA updates come from Sprint...
Dude! Amazing! Thank you soooo much!
