So I have a bell atrix and I have tried to put my Shaw email on it and i'm 100% sure all the settings are correct yet I can not send emails. I can receive them fine. But when I go to send it says authentication error sending.
Settings are as followed:
Incoming is: pop.shaw.ca and the corresponding port.
Outgoing is: mail.1xbell.ca and the corresponding port with neither box checked.
I spent an hour at bell with a lady who was on the phone with tech support and they couldn't fix it.
PS: THIS HAS BEEN FIXED. LEFT THE USERNAME AND PW BLANK
Still need help

Im using shaws pop settings for incoming which work. And bells outgoing which doesn't work.
Outgoing is mail.1xbell.ca
Port 25
neither box checked
Are you connected to Wi-Fi? I believe that if you're using Wi-Fi the bell settings won't work, because you should be using your ISP outgoing credentials.
What outgoing credentials did you try with Shaw?

I tried all the shaw outgoing as well. I have wifi turned off and haven't used it once
I updated the OP.
I've heard of a few people having problems with sending shaw email if they're using a TELUS or Bell device, basically a non-shaw mobile device.
technically, mail.1xbell.ca should work, but you'll have to make sure you don't have the authentication option on the outgoing mail server turned on. (ie. don't use a user/name password).
What outgoing did you use for shaw shawmail.cg.shawcable.net ?
Shaw does not have a dedicated outgoing server. Have you tried setting outgoing server as smtphm.sympatico.ca ? Try and report back.
Please not by using the bell outgoing mail settings u will not be able to send email while connected to wifi. If u use Shaw in and out setting then while connected to wifi which uses shaw as the isp it will work then.
*edit
Port 587 if 25 doesn't work and try with and without authentication.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I tried that server and it didn't work either.
I tried it without my username and pw and I tried it with as well.
To no avail.
Bell and shaw email
Called Bell known issue they are working with Motorola for a fix, I am pissed to as my Milestone and Samsung Galaxy i9000m all worked fine, so I see it as Motorola has altered the Adroid mail app for their liking and screwed it up.
third party apps work fine
I downloaded K9 and it works fine with the Atrix and Shaw, so until Motorola fixes the stock Android app, guess I have to use K9

Are you using shaws outgoing or bells?
Shaw does not support an outgoing, you have to use mail.1xbell.ca and it won't work I called Bell and there are aware of the problem. But K9 does work fine for sending, the stock app works for receiving just not sending.
This is a necro bump. I was wondering if anyone here got it working?
removing outgoing mail server user name and password worked for me. Need Bell tech support to remove from sympatico account as Bell uses a template to set up an account.
morp2
new Atrix, Bell upgrade to 2.2.2
Atrix vs Shaw - fixed
Woo Hoo!! I finally have my Atrix/Shaw thing figured out.
First I had to enable Mobile Access:
shaw.ca - Accessing Shaw email from your Android
1. Go to the "Webmail Beta site" and sign in with your Shaw email and password.
2. Select Preferences then the Mobile Access tab.
3. Select Enabled, enter your existing Shaw password and click Save. If your password does not meet the security requirements, you must change it before Mobile Access can be enabled.
Step three was what was killing me....
After that the Set-up was;
Incoming:
- pop.shaw.ca
- 110
- full email address
- password
-- Left both checks un-checked
Outgoing:
- mail.shaw.ca
- 587
- full email address
- password
-- Left both checks un-checked

Anyone had a problem of unable to send email eventhough you can receive ok? This is driving me nuts! I read in the XDA II page under product info/known limitations that this is normal first time sending email. They claim to just ignore the error messages and re-click on the "send and receive" icon - it should work fine afterwards.. But it DID NOT worked fine I am still unable to send emails. Receiving is ok.
Anyone out there with any insights ?
mailbox incoming/outgoing setup is fine. sheesh..
How is your network carrier?
regardless of who you use for your email account, ensure that if you are using the O2 Mobile Web service that your Sendmail server is set to smtp.o2.co.uk
I'm not too technical but I think 1 of my mail accounts requires a different login to send mail which you cant setup on the XDAII. Maybe...
For some reason I can do everything through Wifi except send emails. I can successfully receive my emails, view them, download attachments, browse with internet explorer, and chat on all messenger programs! I have spoken to upper tier level support people at T-mobile and they confirmed my outgoing settings are correct. I use yahooo small business email server and outgoing is set to: smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com. Can anyone help me with this problem?
This is the error message I get: "messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then try to download messages again".
timing
Is this a problem that you have just encoutnered or a longer running one. I find that I sometimes get this message if my PC is off (killing the wifi network) or if my internet provider webmail server is down. It may ahve been a glitch that will sort itlsef.
Don't bother phoning and paying fpr Tmobile support - trust me - they don't know anything about the phone you have - stick with the forum!
Hi, I've had this problem from day 1, never been able to send emails
try this
you could try instead of outgoingserver smtp.bizmail
just type in this text smtp.mail.yahoo.com
and furthermore leave the boxes requires ssl connection and outgoing mail requires authentication OPEN.
hope this works for you as it works for me.
Thanks for the suggestion... Tried it, but still no success. Anybody else?
outlook
DO you use outlook elsewhere for this/these accounts and have you double checked that the settings are identical?
Can you send via GPRS?
Hello,
i would like to use my vodafone sip Account with the Galaxy S3 integrated SIP function.
I ve adjusted that i get asked before each call, if i wanna make the call with VoIP or Mobile. So that works, but when i choose the VoIP Method i dont get no connection. in the protocol is written, that the call was canceled.
I tried with WLAN connection and that are my configs:
Username:
"my phonenumber" (e.g. 012341234567)
Password:
"my password" (e.g.12345678)
Server:
"dialing code".sip.arcor.de (e.g. 01234.sip.arcor.de)
In the optional Config i tried setting the proxy to the same like the server and without setting it. But nothing changed for me.
Any suggestions?

same problem for me....
SIP Calls
Hi everyone!
Since some time I'm using Omega firmwares. To be honest, it is what I want. One of the things I liked about it, is possibility to make SIP calls. It was working somewhere around Omega v.5... Then I didn't use that feature for some time. But was keeping the Omega Firmware updated on my SGS3. After I've installed Omega v.9.1 I wanted to make a SIP call, but with no luck. There is a simple check to find out if you are able to connect to your SIP-account: just try to turn "Receive Incoming Calls" ON. I have "Failed" response. Upgrading to the Omega v.10 didn't fix the situation. I'm able to log-in to my SIP account with a desktop client. So, the question is, if it is an Omega bug or something else is wrong? I don't have enough rating yet to ask this question directly in the Omega tread. Can anyone pass it there, please?
Thanks and best regards.
Update:
Just tried to use SipDroid and CSipSimple. Both work perfectly fine. It seems like a small check-mark is missing somewhere in Settings or wherever it might be.

have anybody found out how to configure? I tried also with Sipdroid. There I get a connection and can call, but i hear no ringphone. The other site can hear the ring and if it picks up the phone we cannot hear each other. If the other site calls me, i hear the ring but if i pick up the phone the connection will be disconnected. So i don't know if i can hear the other site and vice versa. :silly:
With csipsimple i always cannot register. I tried everthing, but do not find out what is wrong. The icon shows registering.... and then a timeout. I use the same parameters like in Sipdroid but without success
BTW: S2 with Android 4.1.1 and Vodafone/Arcor NGN-Account
Can anyone tell me the settings I should use please to make account

Just got my GS3 this past weekend and I have set up my personal email and my work email accounts. My personal email is through Gmail so there is no issues there. My work email, however, is a POP3 account. I went through the Email Account Setup and plugged in all of the information. The phone receives emails just fine, but they will not send for me. They just sit in the outbox and when I click send, I get a notification that says "Connection Error (Acct Name)". I really need to be able to send emails with my phone and would greatly appreciate any help I can get on this.
Are you connecting via phone 3G or Wi-Fi?
I had a problem sending some email accounts via THREE network in UK, because they deliberately block internet PORT 25, which is typically the one used for sending POP3.
There are sometimes ways around this.
If you also get the problem using Wi-Fi, then it might be something else.

Technically speaking incorrect. POP3 is used to receive emails and runs on Port 110 (plain-text or explicit TLS) or 993 (implicit SSL/TLS)
The protocol you are referring to is called SMTP.
You can always try Port 587 (SMTP-Submission) which is an alternative Port to Port25 that always requires a login procedure.
Alternatively if Port 110 (POP3) and 143 (IMAP) are blocked too, a modified version of the Z-Push PHP-Script can help you by simulating an Exchange server. That's how I helped a friend (T-Mobile Germany are such block-freaks) bypass the "only our email servers" limitation.

Yea, it read Port 587 so I changed it to say 110 and tried resending and it worked. Does that not sound right?

Okay, new issue. It sends just fine but only on WiFi. If I am on 3G, I get an "Unable to Connect to <Email Name>". It should send whether on 3G or on WiFi shouldn't it?
Somebody suggested this on a different forum and it only half worked. Any ideas how to get it to work correctly?

I tried this. I left my incoming server settings the same (my work POP3 account), then I changed the outgoing server settings to:
smtp.gmail.com
Port 465
SSL Encryption
Then I turned on "Require Sign-In"
Put in my Gmail Username and Password.
I tried to send a test email from my POP3 email to my Gmail. It sent just fine over 3G, BUT instead of going to my Gmail Address, it goes to my POP3 Address. So even though I am telling it to go to my @gmail.com email address, it's going to my @POP3.com email address. That's really weird. I wish I could just fix it already lol.
I have an unrooted stock rom on my XT910 Maxx Running Android 4.1.2. System Version 982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.EU and I heave a problem with email client when sending emails.
When I'm on my data connection (Orange) I can't send emails from my yahoo account (using stock Email app, K9, K10, ) I receive an error about incorrect username or password on my outgoing settings. My incoming settings are working and I can receive emails but I can't send them . When I switch on Wi-fi and I test the outgoing settings everything works fine and I can send emails from the same account. Then I switch back to data connection and it doesn't work anymore.
I did a factory reset a couple of times, deleted the account, created again, deleted the APN settings, reentered again but nothing seems to work.
I need any suggestions. Thanks
