Hi,
Fring Front Facing Camera is Working with the new build available at
http://reg.fring.com/app/versions/FringSA2452.apk
I have tried this and is working great.
I am on Streakdroid 1.8.1. But I think this should work on all builds ( if you have not done noffc in earlier builds when this option was available)
Does it work with Skype plug in? Official Skype update with 3G and video is nowhere to be found

I am probably late to the game but didn't see this anywhere so thought I would just mention - I just flashed this Gingerbread based ROM real quick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092565 and then flashed the APK mentioned here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/skype-2-available-for-other-devices/ and made a quick test call from my netbook to my Streak - It wasn't perfect (could be due to slow network connection and not doing a clean install of the new ROM) but anyway, it did work.
So I just did a quick video call to my parents and confirmed that it works very well - I was also able to switch from the front camera to the back camera.
Asking because I don't know; What is the difference between Skype and Fring? Fring all day with my kids and seems to be the same as what you just did with your parents.
do you need gingerbread for this to work?
yes, I believe so you need gingerbread for this.
hopefully they will eventually release an app for those of us with devices still stuck on official 2.2
Fring is a cool app but I am not sure if they have a desktop version - I have only used it once on a friend's phone. Frankly I have been using Oovoo for some time now to call my parents and it has worked great, but I have MANY more contacts who use Skype and didn't feel like spending the time or energy to try and get them all to switch.
Yes - for sure you need Gingerbread - I took a stab at installing it on Streakdroid 1.9 but it was a no go. As soon as I installed the above ROM and then installed the APK it worked.
As a side note the above ROM seems to be working great - I had been planning to install DJ Steve's Gingerbread ROM but will have to wait until I have some time.

i did on steves gingerbread....dont work. force close.
What would happen if I just change my build.prop to read version 2.3.3?
Are there other areas of the phone that confirm gingerbread?

My guess is it would force close - just changing the version doesn't actually make it Gingerbread so there would be compatibility issues. I will check later since I am going to be playing around with another Streak tonight.
Yep - force close.
Not holding my breath for this one but at least they have finally released something. Read there were a couple of hacks working but then needed 2.3
Anyone tried it on the Streak yet?
This has been discussed in the apps section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150877
But to answer your question, yes, video call works if you install Gingerstreak and the hacked apk. However, keep in mind Gingerstreak is not yet a reliable ROM. My wife's Streak on stock 354 does not show the video call option.
Sticking to the stock rom so I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the start of things to come and they will eventually support 2.2.
Cheers

Not gonna happen... hopefully DJ_Steve will get GingerStreak stable but Skype won't be releasing a version for Froyo
Hi Skype video is working on my dell streak running stock 2.2.2. and rooted with gingerbreak - BUT only rear camera works - still its a start and if that was fixed it would all be fine - video and sound are normal. Used the apk for the froyo version that is here on the forum
Try ooVoo...it is the only app which allows android to PC video calling. But supported on very few devices.

Is that different than the market version?
I searched, but I didn't find it.
Any experience about this? I see, there is a modded froyo version functioning with Streak 5, but not with the frontcam. Any news?
I tried the last Skype (froyo) build, no success. The rear cam works fine but the front not.
In order for it to work on froyo, someone would have to write specific code to interact with the driver.
I'll point out that I DID have it working in GingerBread, more specifically the GingerStreak build with one of Fards' kernels flashed, but what currently sucks is that sensors don't yet work with those kernels, including but not limited to the accelerometers, which means everything is stuck in landscape.
Soon enough though, it might be a very compelling reason to upgrade to Gingerbread, if Fards' kernels get good enough.
*(and if I wasn't clear enough, by working, I mean that I had the FFC working)
New Skype APK 2.0
I have read that some have had this working on streakdroid....I am wondering if anyone has this working on stock 354?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15748327#post15748327
It works with the front facing cam now, here's the link

The only issue I've run into thus far, is that I'm not able to tx audio.
I posted in the forum, so hopefully droidrx can fix/enable it.
Video working on SimpleStreak 1.2
I am also getting audio on both ends.
100% working AFAIK!

Has anyone tried the new 2.1 official version of Skype on the Streak yet?
So I got the one from Smokey's link to install and open but whenever I try to log in, it says that Skype cannot log me in and try later (or something like that). I know I'm using the right username and password because I can log in on the PC. Any ideas on what I need to get it to work? I'm on Steve's 1.9. I had no problem with the official Skype version but of course, only the rear camera worked on that one. Thanks.
Try again later...it worked for me. Or keep trying. Maybe try via wifi or 3g, depending on how you got started.
@undrwater: you mean you got the same message and you tried later and then it worked? After that, did it stay working or did you end up getting that error message again? I'm on prepaid and don't get 3G. I only have wifi. Does it work with wifi?
Hello everyone!
Does anyone else have problems with the latest version of Skype? On my X10 mini, the call recipient can't hear me when I talk to them. I've tried on 3G and WiFi, same result. It worked fine before I updated to the latest version... (And normal calls works fine, so the mic is OK)
It's an unmodded X10 mini with stock SE Android 2.2
you need to update your MIC driver to work with new skype ( it's impossible with sonyericsson ROM ). so install custom rom .
i'm having the latest version om my x10 mini with this custom ROM and every thing work great .

whats the latest working version with stock ROM (2.1.1.C.0) and does anyone have the .apk file
I tried Skype 2.0.0.47, 2.0.0.45, 2.0.0.43 and they don't work...I found Skype v1.0.3 build 1.0.0.983 to be working fine, I don't know if there are more versions in-between

Thanks, that one works, wife is happy again! =)
UNBELIEVABLE FAILURE even by gsm call the recipients couldn't hear me after uninstalling the latest Skype version everything is working fine!!! Will never ever use it again...using Viber now
(X10 MiniCm6)
I uninstalled Skype just last night after finding out that it is the number one reason why my phone was crawling along slower than a handicapped snail.
I think that Viber works better as it's designed as a mobile app and not a scaled-down desktop app like Skype.
OK,
so i think i install every possible Rom on my gtablet , but cant find one with , all those elements working together .
im just end user with some knowledge of stuff , but not enough to claim to be developer .
please help me to find Rom with those elements working together :
flash
Netflix
market
camera
thanks , hope somebody can help
Brilliant corners I think!
Sent from my Flashback HC-TAB using XDA Forum App
Vegan Ginger had that until some of the newer market updates broke them. Who knows if either the ROM has updated with a fix, or there have been more market fixes which changed things.
I decided the camera wasn't important to me (I find the g-tab camera to be worthless anyhow unless you sykpe or other video chat).
I switched ROMs because a working market was more important than my camera (but I agree Flash is a priority as well!)
i like these roms
Vegan Ginger Edition (the newest one) works for me flash apps and browser, camera (not video capture but pictures) {there is no working video chat apps for our tab anyway..yet} I have not tried netflix but am pretty sure it works. and I have had no problems at all with the market however I found a newer market that my tab seems to really like (no market fixes required just a cwr zip.)
I will PM you with all the links

Erm...skype video chat works now.
At least on my TNT Lite 4.4
My 2 cents
I've been using the Vegan Ginger Edition, the newest one and it all works. Netflix, Flash, Camera, etc. My only issue is the audio is not as loud as it is on Flashback or GtabComb. But I pair it to a little bluetooth speaker I picked up and it's great for wacthing Netflix with.

Everything works, no messing around to get stuff working. Plus it is so fast that you need to fasten your seat belt before booting into it or you may get blown out of your chair.
You will need to first flash to a 1.2 bootloader if you are not already there.
No kidding, try it yourself and see.
