Hello community, I have a major problem. I have a vibrant and it was rooted then upgraded to 2.2 Froyo. The problem is that I send the vibrant for repaired to Samsung since it got brick by an app and they restore the phone and delete the root access. The phone still upgraded on version 2.2 but no longer rooted.
How can I root my phone back again from version 2.2 Froyo?
Please any help I will appreciate and even donate if I have too since Im kind of new with cell phone testing.
Thank you so much

Sorry maybe a silly question, this is doing my head in.
Had my Hero for 8 months or so, i rooted it, and often flash diffrent ROMS. Problem is i damaged my Hero, and Orange replaced it free of charge. Just the new phone came with Android 2.1 all ready on it.
Is there any way of rooting this phone, and Flashing new ROMS, as i really want to try some 2.2 roms. Nothing seems to work.
Phone info
Firmware 2.1 update 1
Baseband Version 63.18.55.06pu_6.35.15.14
Kernal Version 2.6.29-36d5cb8d
Build No 3.35.61.2 CL196735
Software no 3.35.61.2
Thanks for any help Steve

Calm down friend. Getting stock back is easy, however, if you want to keep your apps and data and other information make a backup using TITANIUM BACKUP, so if you go back to stock and reroot you can reacquire your apps and info.
But here, use this
http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
Follow the directions VERY VERY Carefully.

for warranty you do not need to update. I would do a factory reset and ship it like that
I'm a very new user of Android. I know only ROM, Stock ROM, Custom ROM, KIES & some must known things.
However I found many are discussing about CF-Root.I don't know what this thing is. But I do know about Rooting & I know it can be done by Z4Root & SuperUserOneClick.

Hey!
No worries man. If you FLASHED ROM is working well, then why you want to FLASH 2.3.3? Of course 2.3.3 is OFFICIAL RELEASE and there is several BUG fix-s. But if you dont see problems, you can stay FREELY in 2.3.4.
Of course, finally its you choice, what to do.
CHEERS!
I have the Samsung Galaxy S (Showcase, CSpire Wireless) with Android 2.3.5.

I am wanting to completely root my phone and install a clean slate of Gingerbread on it.
I've tried Z4Root, (I was able to root my phone with it back in 2.1), and have also tried Super One Click.
Nothing works now that I have Gingerbread and I can't find anything TO work.
I am praying to the xda gods for their wisdom and knowledge to help me with this problem! I have been at this since 9AM, it is 2PM. What can I do??
i dont use sgs, but i do know cfroot kernel or any other kernel based on cfroot can help u out.

Same Problem
If anyone comes up wit a good link or video that will be very helpful
I have this same phone and took a look at the links in the second post. However the kernel numbers don't seem to be following the same format as the links in the thread.
Has anyone had any luck rooting this kernel on the c spire galaxy s showcase?
I tried Odin3 and it messed up my phone and I had to go get a new one.
I'm also looking for help on this as well.
SuperOneClick
I'm having the same issues. I have tried SuperOneClick and it stops on step 6.
I'm having the same problem too after updating to 2.3.5. Super one click freezes on step 6.
Same issue with my CSpire SGS running 2.3.5. I do think that speed and battery life are improved over 2.2, but I miss my root.

If you used Odin, I doubt that it messed up your phone. What did you try to flash with Odin?

Did you guys do the official update with Kies? Send me a PM for a way to get a rooted ROM on your Showcase.
I did so the official update from C Spire. I'm not interested in a custom rom I just want to root my phone so I can use wifi tether with my galaxy tab again.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I've ran several custom roms on my phone, but would like the option to just run stock with root so I can remove all of the bloatware from CSpire.
I've also had various issues with some other roms, ranging from no auto-rotate to glitchy in-call audio.

(Same method but with consolidated attachment and directions)
Cannot figure out adb.
I've tried all things to reroot after gingerbread update. Now I'm here to try this method. I cannot however figure out the command process. Can someone please be a bit, or a lot, more explanatory. I'm probably the most noobish person here.
Thanks!
I want stable gingerbread with root.
I'm on gingerbread 2.3.5 c spire.
Galaxy s i500.
I have odin and do not know how to use it.

This worked great. I did have to reboot (as you always should...I just get impatient sometimes...) to get everything flowing smoothly. It scared me on reboot because I thought it was getting hung up, but right before I pulled the battery it went to the screen lock. Phew.
Thanks guys!
Im not able to get Odin to recognize my phone. Is there another way?
I suck at this. I want to root my phone but can never do it right. I have the C spire Samsung Galaxy S with 2.3.5. Can you please help... email me please, [email protected]

You can find the correct files here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319802
You should reflash stock, then flash passion.
hey
still shows the att logo on my vibrant

It's good that your phone is working again, but you need to be very careful using kies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517406
If you're modding / flashing custom roms, It's really best to avoid kies. If you'd had a GB bootloader when you used kies your phone might be bricked now.
