Overclocking Lg optimus one - Optimus One, P500, V General

how much i can overclock my Lg p500 .using void-echo rom
i have overclocked till 720mhz
what if i overclock more
does overclocking can dead my phone.

Hi. Overclockign does damage ur cpu but the threshold at which damage occurs depends solely on ur cpu. And i mean ur particular iece of hardware and not the series. I run my cpu at 806 Mhz sometimes but mostly i keep it to 748 Mhz. So while some phones can do 800+ others cant do even 750. Some cant OC at all.
I suggest that 729 is a pretty decent enuf Overclock and you limit urself to it. If you do want to go higher, increase speeds in steps and then run a stress test for 2-3 min and then use it for a day. If its is stable then no problem. But dont set it on boot as sometimes it may cause kernel panic.

[Q] OC

So, I've rooted my phone a couple weeks ago and I've been messing around with different roms and kernels and I thought the reason my phone was crashing at above 748mhz was because of the kernel or rom I had. I've been reading around though and I read that some phones simply can't OC stably like others. Does this mean if my phone crashes a ton at 806mhz and quite a bit at 768mhz that my phone simply can't OC that high? Are there methods to improve my phones OC stability?
Yes that means your phone can't handle that high clocked speeds. Just keep trying to find a stable clock speed. You will probably not find a big difference between 748 or 806.

There are no methods to improve OC stability (AFAIK ). Don't try to OC more than what ur phone can handle.
You can always try other tips from our forum to make ur phone more responsive
alright thanks for the input guess my phones processor was made in Ethiopia

try 729/480
should work without crashing

[Q] regarding overclocking

question sorry if this was brought up
can you maintain your overclock the whole day?
lets say i want my overclock to stay at 748/480 the whole time is that OK or what?
or is it recommended that you play with your scaling? example switching between 600/480 if regular use and to 748/480 when playing games etc
THANKS sorry i'm new here. please do understand

from what I understood(sort of) the link was about governers and schedulers. I use smartass myself but is it ok to leave my OC the whole day?
Mine is set on 600/245 smoothass in regular use and 825/245 performance when playing games or watching high resolution videos. I can maintain 844Mhz for about 30-60min and 864Mhz for about 5-10min but i really don't want to push him that far...825 Mhz is plenty for mine as i got best Quadrant score on this overclock 1302 points! mik_os 6.5.7
Find a stable OC, then you can stay on it for the whole day.
I use 480/787 Mhz all the time. .

I'm pretty sure the consensus is to not set min below 480 as it does not save power.

Actually It does save power
Yeah, it's OK!
I have it at 480/730 smartass for over half an year and didn't encounter any problems.
You can set up profiles with a different min value (closer to the original one), but when you wake up the device (by activating the screen for example) the CPU will take longer to scale up to an usable freq... it will "lag" for a couple of seconds.
480/730 MHz is the best balance of battery saving and performance!

[Q] Set CPU - How to overclock my SGA?

Hey guys,
I have just installed OmegaRom by Team Cooper and what a Rom it is!!! Amazing is an understatement.
Okay so with there new Rom v2, it has an OC kernal built in and it does work...BUT I need to know how to OC the thing safely and squeezing as much performance as possible!
I have it at 825 and min 806 mhz, scaler is performance.
What settings would you pro's recommened?
Thanks!
Edit 1- I am using SetCPU to OC.
"overclock" and "safe" cannot be use in the same sentence, it just wrong.
theres no safe overclocking. moreover each and every device is unique even for the same model.
what is working with others doesnt guarantee it'll works with yours.

What I meant was a stable OC that may work with my phone... I OC computers too so I know the risk's involved. So what I was asking was what OC's worked with peoples phones so I could get a rough idea on how to govern my cpu and OC it without totally messing it up.

i hope u are aware of the ill effects of OCing.....battery takes a real beating....well i have done it upto 886 mhz....many others have done it upto 1ghz mark...but i personally do not recommend...
CPU Tuner
I try CPU Tuner, is similar ti setCPU but is free whit THE END 3.0 custom ROM and use the 864-254 mhz for screen on and 480-122 for screen off whitout problems, previously I use 904 mhz, but sometime it freeze...

Thanks for the comments guys... Gives me a rough estimate on its limits.
So far I have been running 844mhz performance for a while, since I created this thread and the battery has remained at 82%!
I have benched using AnTuTu twice and have excellent read and write speeds, compared to other benchies I have seen, OmegaRom is the best Rom I have ever used!
Cheers,
i tried cpufrills and its the best for me
I don't Think U mustuse over clocking, even my setting was min245 max 902,the effect just draining more battery, and if using to much can damaging ur prosessor
I know you might think what I'm going to write is unnecessary and going to contradict with your believes here. but I'm going say it anyway.
If you are going to use your device for a long time then I would suggest not to overclock too much. You'll know when something will go wrong with your over-clocking. Your SGA would start rebooting randomly. Heating up would be excessively common once you start overclocking, using your SGA while it's charging. Over clocking will definitely reduce your processor life span. People who do can over clock their device to get the max out of their device and know they're going to change the device in sometime later anyway.

Don't worry! Like I said, I have experience O/C'ing processors etc and I know how bad the effects can be! I am not going for a massive overclock at all. Just a tiny bump in the speed. At the moment, I am running 825mhz and already the speed has improved dramatically. I may go a little further but 902mhz is a bit mental for my liking.

[Q] overclocking in optimus one "4wisemonkeys" HELP!

Can i overclock my OPTIMUS ONE p500 running with 4WiSEMONKEYS ROM to
Minimum CPU frequency = 320 or 480
Maximum CPU frequency = 729..
CAN I OVERCLOCK IT?
what is the disadvantage of this? or what is the bad result of this??
PLEASE HELP GUYS!
thanks
Read other threads first..................
I think 320 and 691 is best for our O1

Yes u can safely over clock it upto 748 MHz. But over clocking the phone has its disadvantages. So I'd recommend overclocking while playing games whereas keeping it on 600/480 at other times
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Yes you can UC and OC this ROM, but as you were told it has disadvantages:
Heating, to mention one. Instability?
If you are using some OC application (e.g. setCPU and similar) that supports profiles, you can enable different frequencies for different cases (screen off, charging etc) so if you're on 729MHz and temperature gets above, say 45degrees, profile can enable something like 600MHz and so on.
I've found through trial and error (actually more error than trial ) that is it not such a good idea to OC this phone beyond 729-748MHz, and it is really dumb to OC beyond it + enable "start on boot" option
So, just in case you finger "accidentally slides" to higher frequency ranges, better have either an "undo settings" flashable file or a recent nand backup...
To make long story short: no real benefit below 300MHz (I had lots of freezes with lower freqs), not much gain above 729MHz (unless you need desperately something to heat the room in the winter ).
Thanks for the help guys
i think stable o.c for our optimus 1 is ranges from 320 up to below 700..
by the way im asking it becoz i will use it everyday..
maybe thats all i think.. hehe

Basically there's not much difference between voltages at 320/480 Mhz. So you can use any of them while among the higher ranges 729 is much more stable than 748.What I mean to say is-take your pick

ok thanks )
by the way, if i overclock it up to 729? it will make my battery much weaker?
and i think if i use wifi or play it will make my unit hotter? something like feeling something in the back? im just curious )

Over clocking above 700Mhz will always produce more heat than normal...and let me say-while playing games or using internet-you will really feel the heat Battery falls much faster...Do not allow increase of temperature above 40°C or it can seriously harm health of battery
PS-Heat can be decreased by opening back cover and exposing to a fan or something.Personally I overclock upto 748Mhz (mostly 729)

Press thanks button if I helped you in any way
OK its final i will overclock it less than 700 )
LOL!
thanks
but i think i can feel the heat in less than 700 hahahaha!
but its ok i will just get the back cover
In the thread it's recommended that, as it is unstable, you shouldn't overclock it and stay the way it is
I don't know if mileage will differ from one phone to another, but mine's set to 320-768. I've kept it that way for the longest time, even before trying out 4WISEMONKEYS. So far so good. If I set it to any other 700-something MHz that's when I feel the heat.

How to overclock LG G2(procesor) step by step.

Hi, I own this phone and I do overclock the processor, if you can help me , tell me step by step how.
Thank you and excuse my English .

Your english is fine.
To overclock the CPU, you need a custom kernel that supports CPU overclocking. If you're using a stock rom, use a stock kernel, otherwise use an AOSP kernel.
I don't recommend overclocking this phone in particular. It has heat damage issues (can damage digitalizer at specific temperatures).
Overclocking in general is a good idea, but bad for phones. Remember that the temperature rises very quickly with slight voltage additions. Therefore, the CPU will be throttled instantly to a lower frequency (ie: 1497MHz) anyway to prevent damage. It also drains the battery that much quicker.
Quad core (armv8?) @ what? 2.5Ghz if I'm not mistaken. Dude that should already be plenty fast. Honestly most people overclock older devices to give them that last shining chance to go down. Your G2 isn't dated by any means and is still up with the crowd as far as hardware goes.
G2's cpu is still good enough for most tasks without compromising any performance issues.
