[Q] How to install themes with out rooting - Optimus One, P500, V General

i am with stock 2.2 Rom without any rooting..Can i install themes? from where v can get it?

Themes that involve replacing framework-res.apk and similar files require the ROM to be deodexed, and the easiest way to deodex is through the kitchen, and to flash the kitchen's output you need to have a custom recovery installed, and to install a custom recovery you have to root.
However, some homescreens/launcers(grab some from market) provide a decent depth of customization. Try ADW Launcher if you want easy to install themes and stuff like that.

[Q] Stock 2.2 Mods, Themes?

I have the stock 2.2 from T-Mo. Were can I find mods for the lock screen, battery, and anything else? How about themes?
there are mods here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=711
but not many themes because not many people here use stock, so most people don't bother making themes for them.
but you must be rooted no matter what for mods or themes i hope you know.
Root the phone, then make a titanium backup, then you can try a theme or mod,
Then if you get hung, you can revert back, or reflash the 2.2
How do I know what mods I can and can not use? I really do not want to flash a ROM just for a new lock screen or a battery icon when I can just mod that portion.

[Q] Installing themes on custom ROM

Hi guys im using custom ROM on my x10 mp but i want to change the theme of that custom ROM what files should i need to download and put only. I dont need the apps or what so ever i only need the theme like only colors what kind of file should i get in the theme thread
When you apply new theme, you'll change only the look, not the apps.

[REQ] reboot mod flashable zip for 2.3.4

i was wondering if someone could work up a flashable zip for reboot menu mods for stock deodex 2.3.4. this is a great mod but but currently, if you want it you have to flash a complete ROM. i currently have the new hotspot hack so if its a framework tweak then it will prob remove the hotspot hack unless we could get that in there as well.
is there a dev out there that would hook us up? pre-thanks!

Changes without new rom

Is it possible to add features to a stock rom rather than changing to a new rom (which always seem buggy) eg.
The camera hack improve video ( in omega rom)
And is it possible to add themes, icon pictures etc without using a launcher or changing rom?

Yes if its a custom stock rom just open with win rar or similar then delete /add
Other wise root and es file explorer delete /and add.

Click to collapse
So it can only be done with a custom rom then.
Are there any custom stock rom that are not buggy. I seem to always read about people having problems with even custom stock roms. Not being able to restore apps with titanium. Back up etc
No he means that with a custom rom you can (but are not limited to) add/edit the files in the archive before flashing it.
This would/should work for Odin Flashes of stock Rom's too.
However, as described you don't need this procedure on stock, you can add/edit the installed apps through a tool such as Root Explorer.
Note that most features of a given Samsung-based custom Rom are not developed by the Rom-Developers but by a 3. party which often provides CWM-flashable versions of their modifications.
Most people that have issues with custom roms attempt e.g. to transfer system apps including the data which often fails.
What if it says you have to be deodexed.? Are there any guides?
Plenty of guides you need to use Google search and read up on customizing Android .
Some in Android forum XDA and SGS2 forum XDA .
Custom rom is just easy .Stock rom far more involved and better to use one of the deodexed stock roms posted that are not customized further .
Yes custom roms especially on month 1 build can be buggy but usually settle down by build 30 .

Modified Framework not booting ROM

I am currently working on a rom for the Galaxy Note 2. I ran into a problem and thought that I might find some help here, I have created a themed framework-res.apk however when I combine it into the rom zip file and flash it it does not boot. For it to boot I need to first flash the rom (without the themed framework), boot, then flash the themed framework. The themed framework-res is from a different base of the rom so it might be the cause of this. I can redo the theming on the original framework from the rom but I made a lot of xml changes and would not like to redo those. Is there a way I can combine it into the rom zip file and make it work ?
Thanks
Edit : Managed to solve by moving the xml and png files to the original framework from the rom
