I think they are misinformed... And jumped the gun.. or got "temp root" and bootloader mixed up.. but who knows teamwin shocked a lot of people by finding the exploit so fast

Looks too much like someone picking up an old article and then requoting it with incorrect terminology. TeamWin hasn't announced anything on Twitter and that's usually where they do it first.

Their source says nothing about bootloader, except to say that it's locked. Every other post still says it's locked. The only thing I can find July 4th related is an APK release of Fre3vo.
Yeah just posting to see if it was truth or not.

Of course the folks at XDA aren’t too patient and love a challenge. This has now lead to the bootloader of the HTC Evo 3D to be hacked by “Team Win”. Because of there efforts the HTC Evo 3D phone is now open to custom software.

I did read the article, and they show no proof what so ever. Their source is to a rom thread, where in people state the bootloader is still locked. The FAQ/Summary thread states it is locked, but was updated today for the APK of Fre3vo announcement.
Nothing, aside from the article itself, states bootloader.. it sounds like they're either falsifying to get hits or screwed up. I'm not saying the story couldn't be correct, just nothing backs it up.. including their "source".

Yeah, I wouldn't put my trust into that site claiming the Bootloader is cracked as of today. Need to wait for more credible information.
Given that before temp root was released..we were given a heads up by teamwin..no news yet so makes me believe some inaccurate info is present here...in other words...bs..hope I am wrong.
Hope its cracked. It would be sweet. But like many said I agree its mire then likely misguided information.

You hard bricked. There's no fix. Either exchange your phone if you can, or buy a new one.
so no one has figured out how to fix this yet, people have figured it out with other phones using external equipment, what's so different about the ATRIX?
Erebus671 said:
okay, I am seeing this alot, but everyone else unit seems to shut off before anything can happen, mine does not, it simply stays on. That being said, I am conducting an experiment, since my ATRIX was afflicted I baught a new one because I liked the webtop idea, so im charging my new one to 100% and then im going to swap out batteries and check the results. Has anyone seen any evidence at all that might suggest a possible fix? I will update you guys on the results of my experiment once completed, hopefully I can come across something that will lead someone to a fix if not find one myself.

http://briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-system-boot-file-sbf-leaked
would this do the job
Negative my friend. Although the sbf (single binary file, not system boot file) is essential to the phone, it will only work if the phone is softbricked (bootloop or just stuck on M dualcore technology screen), not hardbricked (nvflash screen.) You will also need a dev cable to fix this. Remember we are looking for the secure boot key, not the single binary file. Good attempt though. Keep me updated if you find anything else. Pm me if needed.

Go ahead, let us know how it goes. By the way, are you also going to tell them that you voided your warranty by rooting and unlocking your bootloader? Cause when you ask for the sbk, you wont need to tell them that, they'll know automatically. Not to be rude... just saying

I work with a lot of motorola canopy (wireless point to multipoint and BH stuff not a lot to do with phones) but my point with this is i have talked to asked many of thier engineers a lot of simple questions for similar problems and usually get laughed at so dont hold to many high hopes for calling up there and them handing you the keys lol

Its not that they will get pissed, they'll simply tell you that you've voided your warranty, probably laugh at you for even trying to ask and then hang up on you. But hey, by all means, who knows what could happen, and if you manage to get that internship, then you could probably get access to that sbk for us. Not likely though, but still, good luck with that.

Well its been a year and our bootloaders are still locked. In 2011 moto promised to embrace the dev community and unlock all the bootloaders on their phones. HTC started offering unlocks but moto hasn't said a word. I personally think it has something to do with Google's purchased of Motorola mobility but I'm not sure. They haven't issued any type of statement regarding this issue. Lets take action! We need EVERY one in the photon forums to take 3 mins and fill this out. This petition is flying around teh interwebz extremely fast. Its definitely going around XDA as all moto owners are joining forces, let's get in on it! I hope moto responds I really like them as a company now...

the bootloader being locked is all down to the service providers wanting it locked and Motorola doing what they are told , its all about product power , take Samsung their phones sell now matter what and service providers know this hence they cant force Samsung to lock bootloaders , samsung can basically do what they want and service providers have to take it, where as motorola dont have that control over the service providers and with google being run by eliments within Us government there as alot more other agendas we have no idea about

It's against FCC policies to lock our bootloader, it stops us from putting the OS we want on our devices.
Verizons main revenue stream is Motorola droid phones, they need Motorola.

Really??? No Say Sherlock - I didn't knew that...
I dunno about moto... but I bought a TF300T transformer tablet over the weekend. I remember signing a petition to unlock the bootloader the next day.
BAM. Asus has issued a bootloader unlock, telling you if you use it, you're pretty much up the creek on warranty.
But man... do I respect ASUS now. I haven't unlocked the BL yet; but if and when I want to I can, and take responsibility for the device. Now that's the way to treat a customer; give them choices, and if you have to give responsibility along with the choice, be clear about it.
Moto could take a lesson here, but I doubt they will. Asus ROX! I wish they made phones

I asked motorola in facebook, also did kholks and they gave to me same answer about dev razr. Looks like they'll not unlock it In any case if they dont we will count with kexec as soon as ics kernell source become availiable. And, since its not an official bl unlock and can be undone we'll not touch warranty, as usually happens to htc n others.
Just thinking loud.

Expecially now that there is a new ceo with a lot of new member in the executive team. (and the new ceo is from google so it should know that the power of android is it personalizzation)
Unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty, but its not the only thing that does. Rooting voids it too, and you have to root to Kexec.

Since the main thread on this topic got closed I figured I would start a "lounge" of sorts for all of us patiently or impatiently, politely or unpolitely, who are post OTA and stuck without root, but desperately wanting it, to chat, moan, thank/encourage devs, post rumors, etc.
Although I have already offered $20 to the person who firsts posts up a workaround, I am also sure the folks working on it are doing so more for the fun/challenge/glory.
Let the moaning begin...

When I got mine a few days ago it was 1.15, but uh yea I updated, opps. So you might be lucky, just unlock the bootloader on the 1.15 FIRST and KEEP the unlock.bin in a safe place. THENNN you can safely update to 2.04 the unlock and root and all that.
