Gaahh, my 101 not charging! - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I bought a 101 of xda a few days ago, charged it up to 100% the first day, no problems there. Last night it was at about 40% nd I knew I was going to show it to some friends today, so I plugged it in last night. This morning I took it of the charger, and a minute later it says it is out of power and shuts down. I have put it back on the charger, and it still does the same thing. There would be no warenty, as I bought it private, and have rooted it. Anyone have any ideas?

Ahahahahahahaha, ohh my God. I'm a dumbass. FYI everybody, plugging the AC adapter into the headphone Jack does not charge your device. In fact, it seems to do the opposite.

If it makes you feel any better you aren't the first to do this and likely won't be the last.

Try Charging it with the phone Off and then with the phone On... See if that Helps?
What kind of phones! I use a rocketfish charger and my stock HTC charger and it works just fine.

That doesn't help I try with it on and off it only charges with its own charger

I know from experiences with this my PS3 controllers that some devices will not charge unless used with a smart charger. If the device does not detect a smart charger or will not allow a current to pass through. had this problem when trying to use wall charger for PS3 controllers. This may be it but doubtful. Another thing that may be happeneing is that the chargers you have are not new new and as such dont give a snug fit. Just my 2 cents

[Q] phone not charging properly tried everything

Hi my s3 isnt charging properly, when im charging my phone it takes about 10 minutes to go up 1% i bought a new charger and a new battery and still the same problem. Btw i have cyanogenmod 10 as my rom. But ive been using it for months now and untill about 2 weeks ago this issue started to happen. Please help.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
what about charging it when it's off?
Yeah i tried that as well. It charges faster of course but still veeery slow.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Then take it to the service
There's nothing i can do then?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
First remove rom and test as custom rom or root voids warranty anyway.

Noisy charger

I use the stock charger to charge my phone once a day. Since I have had it it seems to always be making this somewhat high pitched buzz. Sorry don't really know how to describe the noise. Just want to know if this is an issue or does this just happen with the charger. Has anyone else noticed this with their charger?
Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a capacitor has swollen in the charger. Replace it with an OEM unit asap as the output has surly changed. This may lead to battery fatigue/failure.

I'm going to call HTC and send it to them and get a new one. For now I'm just going to use my nexus 7 charger. That shouldn't harm my phone at all correct?

I wouldnt use the nexus 7 charger cause the output on it is 5volt 2amp on it. the DNA charger is 5volt 1 amp. it might be too much juicefor a smaller battery. the n7 battery is more than twice the size of the dna. If it was me I would at least use one for a phone.
So I should use my dna charger until I get a replacement? I guess I will just have to go without a charge for a bit as these are my only two chargers, I lost my samsung one.

So just got off the phone with HTC and they are sending me a new one no questions asked. This is my first experience with HTC support and I'm very impressed on how they handle issues. Thank for all the help. The rep also said I could use my nexus 7 charger without it harming the phone.

Even though the rep said it was safe for you to use the Nexus 7 charger, I'd get a 2nd opinion. They are no experts, just people reading form a computer screen. Heck, when I called Verizon about service plans I got 3 different answers from 3 different people.
Yea if its not oem outputs don't use it

Even though the charger is defective it still charges so I'm just going to use it and keep and eye on it until my replacement arrives.

I'm looking for a cable and other accessories.
The only Streak cable I have will provide a charge when plugged into a laptop, but not when plugged into a wall (A/C) adapter or into a car adapter.
Weird, right? Any ideas? I might make a thread on this, but as part of the trouble shooting I'm sure people will insist on my obtaining a different cable to try. A bent pin may be the cause. Who knows.

Wireless charging.

Its not confirmed on htc.com but some sites claim it does. Was wondering if any of you can confirm it. Mine is att and it doesn't charge wirelessly. Thanks

AFAIK induction charging isn't possible on the one x+ because it requires the built in hardware that makes it possible. Unforunately the one x+ does not have it. I looked into this after I bought my phone back in January and it doesn't seem like there is an easy way to do this unless you want to open up your phone and add the induction charging hardware yourself. I didn't think I should risk it because I could end up breaking the phone if I didn't do it properly.
I opened my phone and put the palm charging stuff in my phone.... It was stupid... It charged, but VERY slowly. Just use the damn wire. This tech is still in gimmick phase.

The reason for this thread was to find out if my phone is defective. It isn't . Just look at this video around 2:50 and u will see why I asked about wireless charging .
