So, I was just reading on here about the mysterious four prongs under the camera behind the battery door and someone mentioned something about possibly being able to support NFC with a replacement battery door. So, I got to thinking and googled about it and I came across this over at Android Central:
http://www.androidcentral.com/htcs-ceo-says-lte-phones-coming-2011-will-support-nfc-too
I know its from Dec. but it still caught my eye.
So, does anyone know or think that it is possible to get NFC support on the TB with a software upgrade to 2.3 and a new battery door with the sensor?
Pretty sure the prongs are for inductive charging.

I agree with this...
I also agree; however, I'm unsure as to why there are 4 prongs for that... But well maybe there is some factor to inductive charging I'm missing. But I seriously doubt NFC will be supported regardless.

I just don't see the point in it. You wouldn't be able to really use it anywhere yet. Inductive charging would be neat if the back piece isn't any bigger than it currently is, or isn't much bigger I should say.
Well, looks like it is for the wireless charging:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?&action=accessoryDetails&accessoryId=47423
I would still like to have NFC support. Oh well. have to wait another 2yrs.
It can be done. But it's unlikely.
NFC can be super thin and connect via bluetooth. If it's built into the case and receives its power via the prongs, it could work. The prongs can be just for power purposes. Transfer of data from the device would work over BT.

Has anyone picked it up or seen it (Not even sure Verizon has it) wondering if it adds thickness to the phone.

I am sure that the phone already has the capability built in to the stock battery cover. I just wonder if the extended battery caver will have the same capability.
I did see on the Verizon site that the wireless charging pad is available. The cost is $69.99. Here is a link to the site.
I don't believe it does, there are a couple reviews where they tried different mats and no go.
Yeah it has been shown that it doesn't have wireless charging built in. Unless you need a special pad. Would wireless charging work through an otterbox case?

I heard it was for the antenna. I think the Thunderbolt had sorta the same back.

I was under the impression all of the crap on the cover was for wireless charging, according to FCC documents. Why it won't work though with wireless mats, who knows.

I can tell you this, my HTC rep told us it is an inductive back stock, but it is not. I have inductive backs in my inventory room for it and I have tried it on our mats without and it doesn't work. All the connections you guys see are for the antenna, just like in the Thunderbolt.
You have inductive backs for the rezound? Do they add bulk?

Does not seem to make the phone thicker but from the pics on this website it removes the Verizon 4G LTE logo and the Beats Audio logo as well.

THE BATTERY DOOR THAT COME WITH THE HTC REZOUND STOCK DOES NOT HAVE WIRELESS CHARGING BUILT IN!
Tested and disappointed.
im more interested in whether the inductive charging works with a case on like the otterbox commuter
what about wireless charging on a PowerMat? or do you have to buy the mat from HTC?
Called HTC - The stock back DOES NOT support Wireless Charging
So, in the most effective manner possible (aside from watching videos stating that the included back didn't work for wireless charging, of course) a quick call to HTC support verifies that the included back on the HTC Rezound does not support wireless inductive charging. You will have to purchase another back.
The only one I've found so far is the same one mentioned earlier in the thread over at shop HTCPedia.com
---------- Post added at 04:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:32 PM ----------
Bought the extended battery at the same time as the phone, tested- it does not support wireless charging.
HTC6245-WLDR is the Verizon part number
Looks like the "Wireless Charging Cover" for the Rezound is up on Verizon's site...

Hey there xda'ers!
I just picked up a Titan 4G for $30  I always wanted one, I'm using an S3 right now and I plan on switching back and forth at my leisure.
The problem with the Titan is the charger port is VERY finicky. You have to really push the micro USB in and get it in just right for it to charge.
I found replacement ones on eBay for around $7ish. Has anyone replaced one before? Do you guys have any tips?
Thanks to all in advance!
Anyone?

have you checked there's no fluff in the original one? mine sometimes looks like it's charging, (ie light comes on red), but never gets charged. this usually means there's fluff inside the usb port and a good hard blow, (pardon the expression), sorts it out...

Sadly, the previous owner must have forced a mini usb into the jack or something, since all the pins are bent in. Or, it may have been dropped on the charger port while plugged in. All in all, the phone is in great shape for what I paid for it, as I always had a fascination with WP7.
I got a quote for $60-$70 to have the new USB port installed since it has to be soldered.
Even still, I plan on keeping it and ordering a back up battery charger from eBay since the phone is easily a 8/10 condition wise and I have already unlocked it :good:
Hello all,
The microUSB port on my Rezound has recently taken to working only at certain angles, so if I'm not paying attention when I plug it in, it sometimes doesn't charge properly. For that reason I started looking to buy the inductive charging plate, but it appears to be out of stock everywhere! Does anyone know of a place that might still be selling them, and/or would someone who has one be willing to sell it to me?
Thanks for any leads!

My bad! It is in stock at the Verizon online store. What threw me off was that it's not listed in the Rezound's accessories page for some reason.

I believe any Qi supporting charging mat should work with it, the one test I saw used this one and it's Qi I believe - http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-accessories/lg-WCP-700
Correct, any standard Qi charger should work. The one I bought is the Nokia DT-900 wireless charging plate, which has worked perfectly for me and is generally less expensive than the LG plate that Verizon officially endorses for the Rezound.
Any one try this with a custom ROM and kernel? I mean it should work, just wondering if it didn't. Thinking of getting one, but don't want to buy if I cannot use AOSP ROMs.

The only benefit is that the phone can be charged without open the flap cover on the top left of your phone. The magnetic charger also avoids damaging the USB port in the long run.

I would also add its probably much quicker to dock it than open the flap and pop in the cable
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
+1 for not having to open flaps. I also like the idea of the phone not flying off a table when someone or a pet trips on the cable, and that the magnetic one should just detach easily.

i have the magnetic lead, and altho it does detach easily if cord gets pulled it will still move the phone a bit, so dont leave it near the edge of table lol
I personally think these chargers are a complete waste of money and pretty much rubbish. Cheaply made, horrible fit. I use them on several Xperia phones and one's phone never gets fully charged at a hundred percent with them. If not opening the flap is the only reason you buy these charger , Sony is laughing at you.

i'm not sure how did u come to that conclusion.
I have been on magnetic cable since day1.
And Sony's original magnetic cable may i add. It is solid and well built and excellent fit on the strong magnet.
It charges to 100% as it should in the same amount of time as any usb cables.
and the reason why i have this cable both at home and office is so I dont have to open the flaps.
I used to have a Z and opening and closing the flaps is really a hassle.
not to mention that the rubber seals at the flaps get worn out over time
If any recommendation is needed, go get yourself the original Sony magnetic cables, and not third parties.
Saw many horrible reviews on third parties cables, as with shook187 input above, poorly made, took long time to charge etc

Do you know where to get original Sony cables? From what I can tell, Sony doesn't sell them separately, only as a part of their docks. It's unknown if the cables you get from other sources are official.

The biggest benefit would be you never have to open the flaps when charging the device. That'll prevent the waterproofing from wearing out as easily, though Sony claims the flaps should last throughout the life time of the device.
Anyway I've been using the magnetic cable since day 1 and have had no problems at all. I'm using the official cable which is strong enough for you to pickup and use the phone while charging. It'll still detach or "rock" about if you move it but it's no big deal.

There's no such thing as a "Original" or "Genuine" magnetic charging cable from Sony, they're all 3rd party, the boxes are fake.
If the accessory is not listed on sonymobile.com then it's not genuine.

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a car dock for my Nexus 6 similar to the pro clip or this fix2car mount http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/f...on-mount-dash-mount-with-usb-car-charger.html[1]
Basically my criteria are that I want to be able to take the phone in and out of the mount without having to attach the USB cable after. I want the USB cable to be fixed and the phone simply slides in to it.
The pro clip would cost me 150$+ and the fix2car one I linked would run me close to 70$. I'm looking for something about half that price.
Hope you guys can help!
Thanks
0 replies on XDA and on reddit, something tells me i'm about to drop a hundred bucks on a car mount... AGAIN!
PSA to anyone thinking about it: DO NOT get the airdock 2, it's a piece of poop and the phone falls off constantly.
If you must have the fixed plug, you could hack one in place with some JB Weld. A lot of guys did just that back in the "old" days.
Or suguru, that stuff works great for something like this. BTW, my airdock works great.

If you would like to charge your phone in a car dock without having to attach USB each time why don't you get the QI charging dock? It is about $35-$40 here in US, probably about same in UK. And will work with non-bulky case.

welllllllll the reason why im trying to avoid a QI charging dock (which btw is not a make or model but the technology, can you specify which model you're referring to?) is because i bought this neato quick charge usb lighter thingy and i'd like to be able to use quick charge..... wireless QI charging is pretty slow and when having the screen on, and steaming music, and using maps for nav, it doesn't actually gain any charge!

the problem is that QI will bottleneck your charging. using a quickcharge usb lighter thing will work via a cable but not through QI!
QI will support up to 15 watts of charging in the future, it was actually announced like a couple of weeks ago or something, so future models will support quick charging
I have quick charger at work and at home. In the car I need the dock I can use with minimum effort and without connecting/disconnecting USB frequently

it can if you have it completely tightened down, but you would not be able to pull the phone in and out if it was tightened down. the way i have it now is the clamp holds on to the lip of the phone but not so tightly that I can't easily put the phone in and out of the dock. The clamp does not press on the buttons, this way.
