I would really like to have a transparent status bar. I know theirs currently a theme with what looks to be a transparent bar. However it also have a bunch of other things I don't like/want.

Am I really the only person interested in a transparent status bar?

No.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.

that's pretty cool but what about apps that were developed to accommodate the bar? Out were you thinking just on the home page?
OMG! I have an Atrix! [XDA app]

The bar still exists, it's just not visible. It's pretty much the same concept as changing the color of the bar.

I'm also interested. The status bar that I have using 7launcher is clear, so it shouldn't be that difficult

I'm also interested I like this clean look...

You need to enable transparency in the services.jar file, then in the framework-res.apk edit your statusbar and status_bar png files to the transparency level you like.
HERE is a link to my services.jar for 4.1.52 with GingerBlur 7.7. It might work on other pseudoROMs or other bases but I have not tested it.
Open your framework-res.apk file with WinRAR and drag the attached graphic into the folder \res\drawable-hdpi. Push it back to the handset via adb along with the services.jar file linked above and you should have a fully transparent statusbar.
*Since attaching a completely transparent graphic doesn't work to well I also attached the png file inside a zip archive

If someone can post the framework-res.apk and services.jar i can take a crack at this.

One more question, how would I go on opening the .dex file inside services.jar?

[PC-APP]X10 mini/mini pro Color Icons

Bored of your framework icons. make your own colored icons as per your wish. Simple to use . Just select the color and you are done.
Attached you'll find a pretty basic program in a folder with all the stock sony status bar images. If you run the program you can click on the square to choose your colour and then click on 'Select Folder'. The default is the folder that the exe is in.
As soon as you select the folder, all the icons in that folder will be processed and saved with the same name in an 'out' subfolder (like the ones in the attachment).

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The images will be set to the selected color and the background is made transparent. This is hard-coded for the x10 mini/mini pro stock status bar icons, it may work for other icons from the stock apk's, or it might not It just works on a hard-coded value for the blue channel.
Now you can have what ever color icons you want in the status bar
NOTE: .Net Framework 2.0 required (pre-installed on win vista and 7)

Thanks!!! This is what i have been after for a little while.. .. Also whilst I am here does anyone know a way to change the icons in 'Settings'?? The icons are pretty boring, I would like to change them to some like the desire ones.. Please let me know if this is possible???
are you talking abt the default settings icon??
This works perfectly. One small suggestion, would it be possible to add the option of specifying a background color instead of transparent?
If you look at this screenshot, where it says "USB connected" & "USB debugging connected" the icons to the left are white which makes them invisible.
Edit:
Ended up manually editing one image by adding a black layer behind it in photoshop then creating a batch action to do the rest.
Whoaw!
Nice tool , I am definitely use this many many times

question for all the themers: what file controls text color in noti bar and sub menus

kinda like this? i wanna use it in my theme, but don't know how to get the notification and menu texts in red....like this from captivate's darkfire red:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
does anyone already have this done for the vibrant?
cause i'm trying to use a transparent, but slightly themed notification bar, but it looks weird when using browser and other white based apps. so i'm trying to change the color.
They are xmls in the layout folder go through them all the ones that say status. The color codes are in them. You have to decompile them edit then recompile

^^^^
Correct, they are also controlled in framework-res.apk/res/values/styles.xml
im gonna try this tonight....i put a themed transparent notifcation bar, and when using something white-based, like browser, you can't see the clock or notification text....so i would also like to change the colors on those. is it in the same file(styles.xml)?
@apocalypse: i'm gonna follow your tutorial on the team whiskey forums to change the clock color.
I'm trying to fix this, actually...

edit: i'm gonna try putting a dark transparent layer over it. see if it helps.....
cause having to edit xmls is kinda over my head....
^ I'm trying to learn too. Use Notepad++ to open/edit/save the .xml files.
Master had a great thread on how to use APK Manager that REALLY helped me. And all of our great developers/themers have been so gracious.
I'm working on a community honeycomb theme, check that thread for help as some of the guys posted what to do, and I have a link to the guide I referenced.

Help Locating Images.

i am Making a Theme With transparent backgrounds and need help in locating the images specified in the following screenshots, i am wanting to make them transparent but need to know the image name and image location, i think they might be in framework/res/drawable-hdpi, but for the life of me cannot locate them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance Tired Storeman.
Do you mean the WiFi, Bluetooth images from the drop down, as they are in the SystemUI.apk and the ones from the settings picture are located in the Settings.apk
In each apkyou need the res > drawable-hdpi folder
Hey ag4751, thanks for the reply, guess i should have explained my request a bit better, i am trying to give the "wireless and network" and the "device" heading from the Settings screenshot and the "Samsung Account, setup samsung account" from the dropdown notification, a transparent background
Sorry I can't point you to the exact files. I don't have access to my PC to check and there are differences between roms. The settings headers will be something like list_section_header in framework-res, they will be .9pngs and if you zoom in on the image/s you should be able to confirm the correct one/s from the colour used...
For the dropdown notification try systemui/res/values/drawable and there should be a line in there for the notification row background (I'm not sure with this if tw uses an image instead its been a while since I used a Samsung from)

Thanks m1keyb, figured out the settings label, it was the tw_dark_header.9.png, now just need to figure out the pulldown notification background
np man, just had another look and the pulldown notification looks like notification_item_background_color & notification_item_background_color_pressed. status_bar_notification_row_background_color is the divider I think.
All in systemui values/ drawables.xml

[REQUEST] Invisible Dock Bar for Beauteous Skin

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212334 - skin found in this thread
http://goo.gl/PH7Wi <-- direct link to skin
Would someone with the proper tools be able to pull off this mod for me? I'm hoping for a completely invisible background for the dock bar (I'm not sure if that's what it's called). I attached a picture of the bar that I'm referring to in order to avoid any confusion.
I'd imagine swapping out the picture with a transparent .png should do the trick.

If you haven't got this taken care of yet, Viper ROM allows you to have a transparent navigation bar regardless of skin as part of their Venom Tweaks. It's pretty sweet.

[FIX][6.0.1][Xperia Devices] Signal/Battery Icon Gap Fix

Hey everyone! So again thanks to Android 6.0.1 we're stuck with the ugly gap between the mobile signal and the battery.
There is a fix thanks to @istux which was great, but it no longer works in 6.0.1
But don't fear! I have a new fix which is even easier than before!
Installation Instructions:
Download the flashable .zip from HERE
Go into recovery and install zip
Enjoy!
If you like to do things manually, you can do the following:
Decompile SystemUI.apk
Go to res/values/ and open the dimens.xml file
Find the below lines:
Code:
<dimen name="signal_cluster_battery_padding">7.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="no_signal_cluster_battery_padding">3.0dip</dimen>
Replace their values with "0.0dip" (or whatever gap you prefer to use)
Recompile
Enjoy!
Anyone is free to use this fix in their ROMs, just make sure to give me proper credit for the fix!
Cheers!

Working perfectly, thanks!
Is there any way to get rid of that ugly signal icons that Sony made and put the AOPS one's instead?
Nice work
This completely Breaks my navbar and Statusbar. They both become red with ugly badly resized Status bar Icons. Input fields like the Unlock Code are hidden by an white Layer. Z3c MM .575
Did you do the mod or just just the zip? I tested both and the navbar shouldn't be affected at all or change the icon size.
Con you confirm the rom you are using and upload your systemui.apk for me to take a look?
