Ok, bear with me. I'm lost... when it comes to installing new roms and kernels with and without voodoo. I tried installing overstock, had to odin back to jk6 or jk2. Then tried to install a rom with overstock kernel and odin back. I'm just curious as to how can I install it without having to odin back.

if you are trying to install voodoo enabled stuff over a voodoo enabled kernel you should be fine in just installing over the voodoo kernel with EXT4 enabled, however if you are trying to flash back to an RFS based kernel you will first need to disable EXT4.
To disable EXT4 you need to:
1) reboot into RED Voodoo recovery using the 3 button method
2) scroll down to Voodoo Lagfix option in recovery
3) select disable lagfix and /system lagfix off
4) reboot phone
5) reboot into download mode after full reboot
6) flash
now this is all assuming you had allowed the ext4 conversion process to fully take place prior to trying to reflash. Typically the initial conversion may take anywhere from 3-10 minutes so be patient when flashing a Voodoo Enabled rom over an RFS rom.

Guys I am having trouble flashing a rom coming from bionix 1.6 with voodoo.
This is what I am doing.
1. disable lag fix.
2. back up apps and current rom.
3. flashing clockwork to reboot into manual recovery so I can flash 1.9
This is where its gets screwy, as soon as it tries to reboot into recovery it automatically installs the lag fix again.
everytime I disabled the lag fix, the very next time I reboot it installs it again.
I made sure I deleted all the voodoo files before tried to flash. now I am stuck.
Any suggestions? I really want to try to stay away from odin If I can
Thanks in advance
Which bionic, kernal version, are you flashing?

i am trying to flash 1.9 with voodoo. but the problem is I cant ever get to the point in recovery where I can CHOOSE the rom to flash. It installs it before I can get into recovery. Then I am stuck with the same rom I had
Do not delete the disable-lagfix file or it will run voodoo again on a reboot or shutdown. Leave the file there until after you have flashed the rom you want, and then once the new rom has booted and running delete the file. Then on the next reboot it will run voodoo again.
thanks, that worked
I am having the same problem I even disabled and after it transfer back to Rfs I reflashed using Odin and still if I delete that file it reinstalled. It acts just like a virus and sucks.
I recently flashed FroyoCollab with ULF kernel applied a lagfix, then decided to restore an old ROM using CWM recovery... So I disabled the lagfix via clockwork, then when I go to restore it says MD5 Sums mismatch...
Any fix for this?
Can I ODIN back to stock or will that cause problems as I'm not totally sure if that would work.
I first began with the voodoo lagfix in cwm then went back and changed it to overkill, then went back again and disabled all my lagfixes.
EDIT: Ok I ODIN'd, however, I flashed to Fusion 2.1 and now my apps don't reinstall when I use TB?? WHy?
I don't think backups store the kernel I could be wrong though odin to stock should work
V5 custom vibrant
Cwr will not backup kernel so you will have to Odin to stock

Flash the stock 2.1 kernel first, then restore.
Or flash a new rom that includes a kernel.
Ok this is probably a noob question,
i have a vibrant 2.2 tmobile, i just did the 3e recovery mod so that i could root the phone, i finally got it rooted and Im positive it is (terminal emulator says # when i type su,and superuser is working so Im pretty sure its rooted) so when i go into rom manager and flash clockworkmod recovery it always says it works but i cant get into the new recovery only the stock and i cant backup my original rom, does anyone know how to fix this so i can get into clockworkmod recovery?
Im new to rooting so sorry if this is a extremely noob question.
from stock recovery, select "reinstall packages"
I tried reinstalling the packages from the stock recovery but it takes me back to the stock recovery, Ive tried that many times but i never get the clockworkmod recovery, i have no idea why it wont enter the clockworkmod recovery? Can i install it without rom manager?
Download "update.zip" that is attached to this post....place it on the ROOT of your sdcard (not in any folders)
now this is the voodoo edition of clockwork....we are going to want to disable this to avoid issues (sorry, i dont have a normal clockwork available). so also download the disable voodoo .zip attached to this post.
DONT UNZIP EITHER FILE. DOWNLOAD THEM, AND PLACE THEM BOTH ON YOUR SDCARD AS IS!!
follow these instructions exactly:
1. place both files on root of sd
2. reboot into stock recovery
3. "reinstall packages"
3a. if it brings the red clockwork recovery, move onto step 4.
3b. if you dont see clockworkmod, choose reinstall packages again...if you see it move onto step 4.
3c. if you still dont see it, i cant help you further
4. now that you are in clockwork, DONT REBOOT OR FLASH ANYTHING YET, we need to disable voodoo
5. in clockwork choose "install zip from sdcard"
6. choose "choose zip from sdcard"
7. scroll to the disable voodoo zip and select that...confirm install, select "yes"
8. it should take less than a second, youll see "installation complete". (if you see "installation aborted" dont worry, just move on with the steps...see my explanation below)
9. Reboot before flashing anything, very important
10. you are now ready to flash using clockwork mod
PS - im not sure if youre familiar with voodoo, what it is/how it works....but the disable voodoo zip is just a precaution. im not sure if voodoo is built into this edition of clockwork, or if you actually have to have a voodoo kernel to actually be able to activate it. even though i think you need to have a compatible kernel, its better to play it safe.
with that said THERE IS A POSSIBLILTY THAT WHEN YOU FLASH THE DISABLE VOODOO, YOU MAY GET "INSTALLATION ABORTED"....dont worry continue on with teh steps, that just means that voodoo does not actually exist for you, which is probably ideal anyway
It still didn't work, i must be doing something Ive tried everything but it just wont go to clockworkmod.

Have you tried the toolbox?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509
No i haven't tried toolbox yet but ill give it a shot.
I had a similar issue...
Are you getting the error "signature verification failed"?
No I haven't gotten a single error message, i flash clockworkmod recovery and it says success, I reboot into recovery i get the stock recovery, so Ive tried reinstall packages several times and i never get an error message although when I do hit reinstall packages it goes through in like 2 seconds but It never lets me into clockworkmod.
Use AIO Toolbox (recomended) -> install USB Vibrant drivers (if you don't have them, included with AIO Toolbox) and flash stock 2.1 rom (included in AIO Toolbox), after that use rom manager (from market) and install clockwork recovery, then download any kernel (for 2.1 rom of course) with root and flash it thru already installed CWM or flash ANY rooted custom rom - that's all (and it will take about 0,5h - not big deal).
toolbox is the way to go it will do everything for you just simply follow the steps from top to bottom. and you will be fine but before you go with tool box do read the noob guide it will surely make u understand the functionality of the toolbox. good luck
Hmmm......
Ok ill give that a try hopefully that will work.

This is the issue I am getting, even when using the files mentioned on this post.
How did you solve this problem?
EDIT: Just used the AIO Toolkit, restored to stock, rooted, installed ROM Manager, then went ahead and installed my custom ROM! HoneyGinger is talking to me and getting itself set up. Lovely!
Hey guys,
I was running 2.2 on my vibrant and was having issues with cwm as well. I followed the advice here and it worked great. Flashed Nero v3 and my phone is running like a champ!
Thanks again to everyone for their expertise.

Worked for me too! Thanks everyone!
I had this same problem hopefully this works
So i rooted my phone manually (ran rage.bin, pushed su, busybox, and Superuser) and then used odin to flash the CWM_recovery_DL09.tar. to get to CWM recovery i had to go through blue recovery every time (apply update.zip). Once i got into CWM i flashed a DL30 rom and my phone wouldnt boot. not only wouldnt it boot but blue recovery wouldnt apply the update.zip. i had to odin back to DJ01 stock.
Now i flashed the EB01 root/recovery/superclean and then flashed the red CWM-all.
I have two questions. Did my phone originally brick because i was supposed to flash a DL09 rom instead of DL30 rom? And now that i can get into red recovery directly, am i safe to flash whatever i want?
I assume that since i dont have to go through blue recovery, and i can go directly to red CWM, i should always be able to get into CWM and restore a backup if i hose my system right?
unbelievable
Did the dl30 rom have a kernel? If not you were trying to run froyo with the stock eclair kernel. Can't imagine that works to well. And yes now that cmw is properly flashed, barring a major snafu, you should always new able to enter cmw using the 3 key method.

Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer suppported.
Amend scripting was decrecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted.
How did I get to this...
I Odined EB01 with Atlas 2.2.pit and then flashed CWM all in order to install CWM 3x. Then did ext4 formatter all then tried to install eb01 voodoo kernel. but no go...
Can anyone help me with this?
Did you fully boot after flashing eb01 before trying to flash cwm?
Also if your using a recovery that is 3x.x.x it shouldn't matter about the ext4 formatter...if your coming from the stock eb01 and want voodoo....odin the eb01 file with
2.2pit....reboot fully, then odin 3.x.x.x. recovery, three finger boot and wipe everything and install your voodoo kernel...it should take just fine.

Was I supposed to boot up after flashing EB01 before installing CWM 3x, ext4 formatter, and eb01 voodoo?
I did all of this before the first boot up
I found a solution but don't know how it worked...did some research and found that CWM3 is only for Edify ROMS and Themes and the CWM 2.5x works for both Amend and Edify...
Maybe I needed Amend in order to be able to install this kernel...whew
OK Update...within CWM 2.5x when i installed the voodoo the installation went through...but its taking particularly long for it to boot...I'm still at the Samsung logo...I have a feeling I bricked it again
Use this one to flash the edify and amend zips.
good day.

Thanks, I have decided to use this one. The installation went through but I can't get through the Samsung boot up logo...it's been about 15 minutes already...
Ok here's what I did
Odin EB01 + Atlas (re-partition checked)
Odin CWM 2.5x ALL
Reformatted ext4
Wipe system x3
Wipe Cache x3
Wipe Dalvik Cache x3
Installed EB01 Voodoo kernel from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983395 (installation successful)
Rebooted (unsuccessful)
Phone stayed in Samsung Logo...
What am I doing wrong...
Re-do the full odin package, boot, shut down, pull battery, flash cwm in odin, insert batt, 3 finger to recovery, flash rom and or kernel of choice, boot, sign into google.
Stop all that wiping and skip the ext formatter.
good day.
Thank you so much! I gotta remember to do this step by step for any sort of ROM and/or kernel!
