[Q] Touch Screen issues - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dropped my phone last August and cracked the screen. After several hours to find out the Verizon sales person didn't add the insurance to my phone.
This put me to searching the pages of Ebay to find a true Verizon digitizer replacement from China. 6 weeks later I replaced the screen with the tools provided(minus the fact I didn't realize the seal to the chassis had to be heated to release the old screen) this causes dust to get behind the screen (boo).
So after a few months the cursor when using the keyboard would just move on its own. Each month it gets worse and worse to the point you can't even use it and have to re-flash the ROM again.
The home screens when long pressing to delete something will skip and miss the trash can and you have to try several times to delete something. The soft keys will get messed up and the menu will act like the back button.
Has anyone had issues like this or maybe know of a calibration tool.

[Q] VZW TP touch screen not working

so, i just got this phone about a week ago, and its already seen several near death experiences with all the flashing ive been doing. but this one takes the cake. all i did was put the phone in my back pocket, with the screen facing in, sat down for half a second, and when i took it out, the screen had been pressed so hard that the top layer of the resistive screen was stuck to the bottm, and not registering anything. i knew the first step to fixing it was getting it unstuck. but it still wounldnt work. did a hard reset. and now im stuck at my initial tap screen to set up phone screen, and i cant do anything. this is clearly a hardware problem. can anyone help me out?
lemme be the first to say it man, ouch lol
sorry about your screen, i fear the only way to fix would be to find another screen assembly, if you search the threads for the cdma raphael(herman) i beleive there is a detailed teardown of the phone that may or may not help you resolve your problem. here is a quick link to something along the lines of what your looking for but not really too detailed : http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC-Touch-Pro/787/1
ive done that, but usually break the screen completely. i have an extra us cellular tp that has a bad keyboard and front panel buttons but screen and touch works. i just use it as a extra battery charger. has some scratches, but works. ill send it to you if you send me your old one. the screen has a double-stick tape that holds it to the frame around the edges. let me know if your able to tear it down and think you can put it back together again. its a pretty straight forward process though.
Apply packing tape to the screen and pull as hard as you can.

Touchscreen stops working / random presses

Recently my touchscreen has been acting up on me. Sometimes it will either lock up completely and ill just press power 2x to get it to work again. other times stuff will randomly start to open or if its on the home screen the phone will switch pages left and right at a very high rate of speed the screen almost looks like its flickering.
this just started yesterday, ive ran 2 antivirus apps on the phone and both say its clean so i doubt its a virus, im not sure if its hardware or software related, im thinking about doing a re-flash, but i have a feeling that might not fix the issue..
has anyone else encountered this problem? it can get annoying at times cause it almost stops me from using the phone completely.
Edit: I would also like to note, i thought it was the screen protector i had on, but i took it off and the screen is still acting up
I had this happen last night after I installed a screen protector I got from eBay (they were $4 for 10 with free shipping). I'm guessing it was something in the glue because as soon as I took it off, the phone went back to normal. It always seemed to be 'pressing' in the same spot because I was trying to send a text and it kept popping up with a menu about the contacts info. Also, when that would pop up, the capacitive buttons at the bottom (menu, home, back and search) wouldn't work so I had to lock the phone and unlock it to gain control.

Did any water get in the phone?
i have same problem and make me shock,
my motorola have anti glare screen guard
while iam eat chicken soup and play mini plan , i didnt notice if my finger are wet couz of soup, meanwhile i notice that at that time the touch screen are still good i can play the game, so i quickly try to clean it up using tissue , while i try clean up my phone keep pressing like crazy so i stop to clean it but it keep pressing like crazy, event i have already out from the game, i cannot stop it, so i must pull out the battery and put it back,
i think Atrix the touch screen are too unstable , compare with milestone milestone is better but it's less sensitive then atrix
it normal again after pull out the battery and i clean it up
I never got any water inside the phone, only on the screen protector when applying it to the screen as directed in the instructions for the skinomi screen protector.
the screen protector has been on the phone for 2 months no issues. its only now i see this happening.
i removed the screen protector to see the issue still there.
i have done a factory restore with no changes
i downgraded to 1.52 with the random tapping still going.
i think it might be hardware related.
im going to bring the phone to an AT&T store for a swap

Scary moment for me and my One X+

Hello everyone, I'd just like to share something that happened with my HOX+.
Earlier today my touchscreen acted up and was getting random touch input on a particular portion of the screen. Thinking it may have just been something on the screen like oil or whatever, I just gave it a quick wipe and it went back to normal.
Now a while ago, that particular portion of the touch screen totally died on me. I didn't think it was a software problem because I didn't flash anything or install any app from the play store. Also, that portion(about a half inch strip from the top of the phone when held in portrait edge to edge, left to right) wasn't working even in recovery(CWM).
So I searched the net for similar accounts and found put that it may be a faulty digitizer. While I do have official HTC warranty, claims in our country(Philippines) usually take forever if you get past all the retailer and distributor bullcrap at all.
Luckily, I happened upon a single post somewhere where this person just pressed hard on the unresponsive portion of his touchscreen(different device) for a few seconds and the problem went away. Fortunately it also worked for me.
Just sharing my experience just in case this also happens to someone else. For now I'm hoping the problem does not reoccur. I've also secured my Proof of Purchase to be sure.

EDIT: Based on the fact that I could now pull down the notification bar, I assumed the whole screen was now OK. But now it seems there is still a narrow strip which is unresponsive. I'm now starting to think this was caused by the pouch I had been using which had a clasp corresponding to that location in combination with the long time it had been placed in a tight pants pocket earlier today.

Display turned different colors first all yellow and other looked horrible now BLANK

The phone's been dropped a few times but nothing happened except a few very light scratches. Then I've left it in a bag and found it shattered.
A few months later I was like wtf? when I was watchng a video and all of screen turned yellow. At first I thought it was a film but no.Tried fixing by removing battery but the yellow tint stayed.A few days later it's been soaked in water.Booted once then froze.Had it repaired in phone service. The screen kept changing colours randomly.A few weeks later the screen went black and sometimes very rarely started working again until I turn it off.Now almost impossible to get it display anything.I've never harmed it and I'm having the consequences.I'm about to replace the lcd but I'm asking you if the screen is an issue or what?I've tried reconnecting lcd cable and it didn't help.I've been searching for the screen color issue lots of times and nothing relevant. What causes this?
Code:
TL;DR dropped a few times shattered in bag started changing colors water soaked fixed in service now blank.Im bout to replace lcd.
CAN it be anything else?I don't want to waste money.

*cough*
Dropped a number of times & 'soaked in water'. You sure you don't want to reconsider that comment ?
Sounds like the screen, but given the phone's 'history', you're only going to know if you replace the screen. If you're asking people on here to diagnose hardware issues with 100% certainty without having the phone in front of them, you're going to be disappointed (it's impossible). If you don't want to risk forking out money for a screen only to have other problems after you replace it, take it to someone who knows what they're doing to make doubly sure it's just the screen that's damaged/faulty.
P.S - Pro tip: Paragraphing/using some semblance of formatting will make it far more likely people will read your threads. Typing a couple of hundred words in one lump separated only by full stops & question marks will cause a lot of people to simply not bother reading your thread - it's just too hard.

Line on keyboard off calibration after screen replacement.

I just got done replacing my broken screen on my LG G3. I replaced the whole front panel and just transfered the guts. Everything checked out fine after replacement until i typed my first text message. row A-L will not goto screen unless I touch nearly inbetween the middle of the row beneath it. q-p work fine as well as z-m. What really has me boggled is that the screen accepts touches there in virtually every other app/drawing. Just the keyboards aren't allowing touch in that specfic row. any suggestion?
Found a few more bad section.. Pulled the back loudspeaker back out and tried reseating the cables and still had same issue. They're sending a replacement for free.
This was my first screen replacement, but not my first time dealing with small ribbon cables. All cameras function fine, hoping it was a defect in screen and not my screen changing abilities.. Any tips for the next one would be appreciated. Would like to have a fully functioning phone again sometime. This is nearly more frustrating than the broken screen.
I am having same Issue

Hey just curious if your issue has been resolved.... I am having same issue, but i took mine to a computer store i have been dealing with for years. about a year ago they started doing cell phone repairs as well. I had them replace my cracked screen on my LG G3 and that same row of text if off for me and there are a few other spots i have noticed are off as well .... very frustrating... Anyway the place I took it to has replaced 3 screens hoping they were getting defective parts.... they just called to tell me I can come get it but they were unable to repair the dead spots without going further into replacing boards or something.... I dont know... It is weird though cause you can get the dead spots to work sometimes by very lightly touching or just touching it in just the right spots like a calibration if off....

A review on G3 LCD's on Amazon reports the same problem "I installed the screen and immediately my wife mentioned that it seemed to have "dead spots" when she was texting / playing games. I noticed it myself when I tried texting myself as a test. Several of the letters on the keyboard just wouldn't register very well. She went into the settings and ran the "motion sensor calibration" test under general settings>gestures. This has resolved the touch screen issues. "
I don't see how that would fix it but I guess it's worth a shot.
