With the advent of root+CWR for the thunderbolt, many people will be flashing custom roms or CM (I'll be flashing CM7 once slayher pushes it out). In doing so, we will be loosing our app to utilize the FM radio function of our phones.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a third party app that does the same thing, or if anyone has plans to port the HTC version into it's own apk to add to other roms. I found an app in the market specifically for FM radio, but it's incompatible with the Thunderbolt.
Thanks

I honestly haven't tried it, but this is my theory...
Why wouldn't the original APK work? If not, the EVO undoubtedly has an app for this?

It might not work because it may depend on libraries not in the APK itself.
I tried the Fm radio app. But I dont use it since you cant stream it thru bluetooth. Try using the app called TuneIn Radio. It does live radio from wherever you want.
CM7 for the Incredible has an FM radio app. I would think CM7 for the Thunderbolt would too.

Has anybody pulled a copy of the FM Radio APK out of the stock image so we can install it on custom ROM's??
I would do it but I am not 100% sure how to do it.
Thanks.
Here is the apk and the odex, not sure if it will work outside Sense, that's not my forte ;P
edit: on a side post, I just skipped the poster mark and became a contributer all on my first post, go me
edit 2: on a side note, realized OP asked if anyone had yet, while I haven't helped in that regard, having a more handily available apk might make it more attainable.

I am trying to get the radio back on my MyTouch 4G, I am using the MIUI 1.7.1 how would one install this? Where would the odex file go? I tried to install the apk but it said it would not install.
Your uploaded file refuses to install (I am running CMX)
I have another version of the FM Radio for MyTouch 4G. this one will install, but it refuses to Run. perhaps it needs to be added via clockworkmod instead, but I don't know how to make packages like that. it could also just be incompatible with Android 4.1
Anyway, I'm posting it here so maybe someone can make it work
Spirit FM
Check out the spirit FM app via google play. The app dev has free versions in his thread on xda for you to try out with limited functionality. Latest version works on ICS but I'm not sure about JB.

I've had it working in short bursts on Toasted Marshmallow v.1, but it locks up and reboots the phone. Still working on settings...
Most likely the FM.apk isn't going to work by itself. Normally its part of a Sense ROM, and won't work on a Aosp or Aopk Rom.

I look at the zip file and one of them was missing and that is library located in /data. I am attaching as zip file. It was in /Data folder. I found file in Dalvic cache too. I am still dreaming on my FM in CM10
I've looked around for some possible solutions to give the eris full market capabilities (regardless of compatibility) with no success. Is there any way to modify the build prop (or something else) to allow the market to think the eris is another phone which has unlimited access to the market? I have had no success with the Eris Market Fix App by the way.
Not sure if it helps but in another thread a while back I noticed tenzomonk posted this:
"as for the build.prop... you'd want to find the following line: "ro.build.fingerprint="
i've provided two (2) examples below... first being from an HTC Incredible running a 2.2 ROM... second being from a stock Eris (2.1 ROM).
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys (Incredible)
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/htc_desirec/desirec/desirec:2.1/ERD79/185970:user/release-keys (Eris)"
I don't have the knowledge to help you trick the market into thinking you have a different phone, but why don't you just download the .apk files for the apps you want and sideload them? I guess that isn't a good idea for non-free apps but for free apps it works fine. That's what I did with angry birds before it was available for the Eris. Honestly though, if it doesn't show up on the market for the Eris it probably wont run well if at all. Developers don't want to limit the number of people that can download their app. They generally only do it if there are issues with their app on a particular phone.

Why not think of the big picture and "solve" the core problem ?
Sure, your suggestion will work until then, but do we do this forever ?

Personally, I believe the issue is with the Market itself, especially since Gingerbread was released. People on multiple phones and in turn, multiple ROMs, are having similar issues. This isn't unique to the Eris or any of the ROMs from here.

Yeah I guess you would have to sideload any apps you can't get on the market but I don't see the problem with doing that. The VAST majority of apps can be found in the market.

not surprisingly, few if any 3rd party FM radio apps do work on SGY.
the stock FM app is kinda crappy in that the RDS data is not visible enough.
one needs full access to all RDS data, of course.

Try TuneIn Radio... its the best radio app on the market... You can listen to local Radio Stations and International Radio Stations too... Its Easy to use... and Powerfull... So go on and have some fun \m/...
Downline: It needs Internet to access Radio Staions... But its worth of it...

that's the difference between FM radio apps and radio apps.
theres lotsa streaming stuff around but I was talking real FM radiowave 100 MHz +/-
Has anyone tried my app, Spirit FM ?
Latest free version is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?v369y5839c7dgoz The Unlocked version has RDS.
Does this use a Broadcom FM chip ? If so you may have to enable Menu->Settings->Debug->BC 4330/20780 for low level (root) mode.
Working or not, if someone sends me a debug log I can tell you more.
Use Menu->Test->Email->Logs and after a few seconds. enter "Galaxy Y" in the email text and press send.
And is the FM really mono ?
Thanks !
I tried but it didnt worked I have sent the log tried on hybrids 4.0 and stock rom

I presume the stock FM app works, so I'll examine it to see if there's a new secret to be learned.
Sometimes it's just one little modification.
I saw the RSSI values were negative, but I presume an earphone was plugged in for an antenna.
I would also be interested to know if you can start the stock FM app, then Spirit, and see if it works then.
-------------
I'm searching through my email now and have found several people have sent me logs.
At least one says that it's working and I see the RSSI values are good.
So,... hopefully there is just some bug to be fixed or configuration setting we need.
I'll post again when I come to some conclusions or get an idea.
I've gone through my emails and 2 people have reported success, in February and March.
They were both using stock unrooted ROMs and set Audio->Method to "Samsung SL".
So, on ROMs on which the stock FM app works. I think my app should work with that audio method and Debug->FM API set to "OEM Proprietary".
While in the Debug config, you may as well enable Debug->Power Aud Foc Off and Debug->Unmute Aud Foc Off and restart the app. But if it works now, disable them and see if there's any difference.
As of a month ago or so, AFAICT, nobody with this device has made a purchase of the Light or Unlocked versions.
Hey guys, does anyone know how to make they work together? I have tried almost everything I could find with no sucess.

Can you elaborate a little more? Your question is rather vague and might be why there is no response.
see if this helps
check to see if your gps is functioning properly..... if not reinstall a kernel of your choice, and i suggest stock 1.43.... use Flash Image GUI. this might help but its just a guess. Im not sure of your statement, but i think this is what you mean. good luck, hit thanks if this helps you....

sure:
since the release of the handset HTC Desire HD I have used an app and widget called HTC locations.
amongst other things, this widget is used to replace google navigation by having offline maps in it, which, correct me if I am wrong, is very similar to the maps found in google navigation app.
I have been a bullet rom user since I bought my phone and found that the latest xboarder's version 1.7 is said to have such widget/app working... unfortunetly it does not.
I, then, decided to try my luck with the Energy rom, which I liked a lot and this time, for my frustation, the app/widget is not even there.
After researching the internet, I have found a couple of apk's (laputa, location picker, locations, footprints) and their respective signed lib files.
After flashing them (the signed files through recovery) and installing the apks, the app itself (both footprints and locations) would open, footprints all the way and locations would try to download the necessary files (which would return an error saying it couldnt finish the task or restart sense, nope, its not a problem with my connection). The widgets itself wouldnt work at all.
Back to the forum where I found those files, I figured they were for another version of sense, so the framework would be different in order to run on the Energy rom (thats what I came up with, anyway).
As I believe there would be other HTC location users in the amaze 4g forum, I started this thread asking people if they have it working on theirs and if they do, how did they manage it.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. yes, im talking about the roms for the HTC AMAZE 4G and the use of the app/widget on the HTC AMAZE 4G. I only quoted the DESIRE HD so people know the app/widget I am talking about

thats the thing I had that rom installed and eventhough the description says it works, you will see on that thread that lots of ppl say it doesnt work... x says that it works for him, I dont know if he froze the app and deleted whats inside the .data/locations or not... I am just not good enough on messing around with those files.
now back to the app, I believe I would need two files the apk for the app and the app for the widget which, if I am not mistaken, the only difference is the name that contains 3d on it...
btw, thanks so much for trying to help me.
My Tmo H1 has 1.27 software, this is obviously older than the 1.29 ota everyone's speaking about correct?
I'm not asking when Tmo may/may not roll this out, but if I were to flash a 1.29 rom, what would be different other than losing wifi calling?
It fixes the capacitive button problems, it fixes compatibility with apps such as the Amazon Appstore, and it has some other improvements to Beats Audio and the camera.

Taken from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245637
1.29.709.12(214.04MB)
1. virtual button sensitivity adjusted
2. slow motion video quality improved under low lit
3. better Beats Audio experience
4. better background noise when using headphone
5. better bluetooth device matching
the only bad thing about the 1.29 update is they cut the loudness of the speakers down a bit

Interesting you say that. From all the reviews I've read they've mentioned the speakers were crazy loud but in my experience they're just decently ok. This is still on 1.27
I tried several 1.29 roms and for some reason wouldn't install HTC TV for using the IR blaster. Anyone else had this issue?

I understand it's a stock app, and by didn't install, it doesn't show up after installing the rom. This isn't my first go around with installing ROMs either, that's why I'm puzzled about it.
Searching through the applications it doesn't show up, scrolling through the application in settings it's not there. That's why I'm a little confused. I can mess with it more tomorrow and post screenshots, but I just went back to my backup and downloaded all my spotify music again :cyclops:

no, I work in a T-Mo Corp Store and there is no plans right now to update to 1.29. T-Mo is kinda slow at times updating stuff. Just install the international rom if you live without WIFI calling.
With the new Un-Carrier Unlimited plans, I'm not sure why so many people are sweating the wifi calling?

Reception blows in some neighborhoods. Also if you travel internationally you can make calls at any wifi hotspot and only spend your US carrier minutes. I'm not sure why wifi calling ISNT a bigger deal than it is.
