First of all, hello to everyone. I have been reading through a lot of threads here in the last few weeks after getting my HD2, especially the ones about battery life.
I have never owned a smartphone, so I have no comparison but I'm barely getting through 1 day of use when fully charged! And I'm not even using it that much yet, Wifi is off, no data transfers, just some texting and calls. I have installed Bandswitch and Battlog, didn't really help though.
Got the phone brand new (T-Mobile US) and haven't done any major tweaking yet, it's still pretty much stock with a few programs that I installed so far.
Do you guys have a similar experience or is it completely different? I love the phone, but if I dont even get through one day of use (and I want to use the phone in the future, not just for surfing but for music streaming or web browsing), I would have to bring it back.
Any help appreciated!
It's just something you have to live with, buy a spare battery, or the extended battery, flash a lighter ROM, adjust screen brightness turn off push e-mails etc etc.
I can get 2 days battery from very light use. i.e. a few texts and calls a day, no Wi-Fi, bluetooth or internet browsing. That's just how smartphones are.
So how do you do it on a daily basis?
My battery is fully charged in the morning and lets assume I'm using the phone for what I bought it for - some music streaming, gps here and there if I need it, some web browsing, calls and texts etc.
I haven't even started using most of the features of the phone and my battery has died twice on my already while I was out at night.
How can that be normal or acceptable? I can't charge my battery every 6h...

Maybe you shouldn't have a smart phone? Battery technology is ****, it's a shame, but it's true. The only thing I can suggest is a spare battery, I carry one everywhere.
I generally watch an hour and a half of video a day on my phone, text, call, use the internet and I can still make a 9 hour day with 40%+ battery left, and just incase I am out and about in the evening before I have a chance to get the phone on charge I have the spare.
But with that said half hours charge from the mains will give you a good 30% topup I very seldom have to swap the batterys and I use a pretty juicy ROM.

Given his kind of use, 2 days should be normal. Right now I'm squeezing 3 days out of this battery, and that's only because I swap it out when it's at 10%, otherwise it could be a little longer... and a few calls here and there is not the only thing I did with it... it's still my work pda after all
Since it's pretty much stock, unless it gets better with time (the first recharging cycles are the worst) and even after a hard reset it won't get better, it probably is something wrong not software related.
Install battclock and check the standby battery drain, shouldn't be much higher than 4mA, up to 7mA could be normal, any higher than that, especially if significant, and you've got something wrong, and found the cause to the short battery life.
First off, buy a couple of cheap oem batteries from here...
Now, these eBay batteries have performed slightly better than the original battery...
Some of us smartphone users are so used to poor battery life we have power charging cradles at home work and car just to keep the charge up... And have spare batteries every in case of emergency...
I take my phone off the charger at 6am to go to work... My avg day is 6-10 calls, 20 reminders, an hour of UNO, an hour as a wifi router and I return home at 5pm with 50-60% battery life...
they are trying to make batteries smaller and thinner so they can make the phones thinner and smaller so battery life is compromised. But you do need to give it some time to settle in.
Back up batteries and cradles to charge them are cheap and an easy solution. So are extra chargers to keep at work, in the car, etc. Most people can charge their phone at least an hour during the day and that should give you all you need.
The only smartphone that I didn't carry an extra battery for was the moto q9c, because it came with an extended life battery. But on these phones, that probably isn't the best option.
So what did you guys do to improve the battery life of your HD2? Are there any specific programs (I heared about G-Profile) you are not supposed to use or did you guys just deinstall all the T-Mobile Apps?
If I can just get 1 day of actual use out of it I am OK with that. I just dont want to have die every second or third day if I use more often than normal...
Any suggestions or may tests I could do? I feel like I could stream music on Slacker for about 90 Minutes and the battery would be dead...
EDIT: Just did Battlog for about 15 Minutes, my phone uses between 15ma and 31ma when in standby. So where do I start, how do I find the culprit?

Extra chargers and thats it! Now I browse, calls, emails, music, videos, TV stream (Slingplayer) and maximize all of the other features of my HD2 t9193.
Software and the end-user are the cause behind battery drain. I've got 2.5days out of moderate use so I don't think it's the hardware at all.

At the risk of looking like I'm trying to hijack this thread, I started a discussion on this particular subject a while ago as feedback on my finding after reading almost all the threads I could find regarding battery use on the HD2. Lude219 is 100% correct, the issue is always software related (yea, I know there might be exceptions to the rule) and my phone was a prime example of that.
See the thread below that explains how to measure your battery consumption, has logs and screen shots from users you have high consumption and also people who have systems where battery life is more than 48 hours so that you can compare your results.

I'm also sure it's software related. My phone would use app. 2% overnight with all connections closed. This i tested over months. Then suddenly without me changing anything drastic software wise, it pulled 5% per 3-4 hours. So after going thru all the cleaning routines nothing helped exept a good "ram cleaning" . Somehow or other the phone starts processes over time wich consume alot of power. One would have to look into it with a process manager to find out what exactly it is. WinMo seems to be quite sofisticated looking at all the running processes. So my view is , keeping the system tidy might be the only way to save the extra power.This is where the huge diffrence to other platforms seems to be, it can take quite a while until you have configured your phone the way you need it. I am useing the stock rom 1.66 German

But now, here is a thinker:
Last night, I let my battery drain all the way to zero and then recharged it at night. The only other thing I did was installing BSBTweaks and Touch X Taskmanager. I also changed my Bandswitch Settings to turn off data when not used and put it at 60 sec (instead of 500 sec before).
And I couldnt believe what I was seeing, I took my phone off the charger this morning around 8.30am and now at 7pm I am still at 84%!!! I did not use the phone heavily but sent and received a few texts, made 1 call and played around with it for a little bit. Similiarly to what I did in the beginning after I got the phone, but then the battery had almost died at 7pm!
I am super happy and hope it stays like that but cannot explain why all the sudden it is that different...

I remember stumbling upon this setting the day i got the phone and started viciously going through it.
Somehow it didnt store in my memory the path i went that day so i can try doing what the man sugested.

i lost 12 pct over night in 9 hours with my radio turned off last night and only gmail and texts were open...
with battlog how do i do the test so it stays in standby? it keeps turning the screen on and off when i run benchmark
You may want to flash a new radio. Try a new one each day and measure battery life. I use radio 2.12.50 and have had a good experience.
yeah but with my radio turned off the radio shouldnt affect it shoudl it?
i use blackberry to stream pandora radio thru aux for about 8 hours a day and it still has 2 bars left after that.
HD2 just sits there and kills the battery lol

seriously this is called unfinished product or poor design, that is beeing sold to customers as a next best thing.
you guys can argue with me all you want. i heard many excuses from users advocating the companies. such as. if you dont like this than pay more for a better product. well HD2 is a better product, its a 500 dollar phone damn it.
but you dont realize that even the "better" products suffer from same underdevelopment syndrome.
companies spend millions on consumer research and consumers spend millions on **** they dont need every year. cows eat grass, consumers eat garbage made by big companies.
where are the better products? they dont exist because it became "normal" to have a faulty OS or for your phone buttons to fall off, or battery to explode.
companies worked long and hard to make consumers get used to the idea that garbage is just a part of life, and worked long and hard to minimize costs of production, and cut corners.
which corners?
the final QA testing that is not beeing done by a company, so they can release the phone 3 months earlier, the consumers pay for the phone and test it.
we work for the company and we pay for it instead of getting paid.

First off I want to thank Nitro for Eclipse it is by far the best my phone has run since purchased.
I have noticed tho on .5 that my battery seems to get used up a lot faster. Has anyone else noticed this? I know that Nitro said in his ROM OP that you could change the cpu frequencies in the init.d script. Has this worked for anyone?
If so could you please let me/us know what you did to get better battery usage.
My battery too died really fast when using v5. I adjusted the cpu freq to 216mhz and calibrated the battery. Also tried Overmind's init hack w/ no luck. I have the extended battery and it would need charged after 6 hrs or so. I use my phone a lot but I used to get 11+ hours under similar use..
I recently went back .2.2 where I had better luck w/ battery life. Gonna test this version and hope my battery isn't on its way out.
EDIT: After going back to .2.2 I'm now sitting at 30% with 16+ hrs of similar heavy usage. Nothing against Nitro's v5 but I've had MUCH better battery life on .2.2 Never gave much thought to the reboot "fix".

I have stayed on eclipse v .4 and get about 8 hours running at 600mhz.
If only we could get custom kernels. Got 1day 3 hours out of my og Droid at ulv 600mhz

How do you change frequencies? I was trying to change governors but it wouldn't let me

The only way I was able to change governers is using the Droid overclock app and installing busybox OR flashing a init.d hack. Not really sure how the app opened up the governors for me, but I know for a fact that init d hack works.

So there is no real fix as of yet. I am not going to reboot my phone after each charge, that is obviously a band aid fix and I actually like to see how long my phone runs (well) without needing a reboot.
I really like 0.5 so I'd rather not go back to 0.2.2 just for the better battery usage.
It cannot be a kernel issue because since GB was released the Kernel never changed and it hasn't been since I flashed Eclipse 0.5 that my battery life has decreased.
It must be something to do with the ROM, I am sure it will be straightened out soon. One of the genius script writers will provide a hack or there will be settings tweak that helps. Until then it is not nearly a deal breaker, I can still use my phone like normal. It is just something I happened to notice now that we have 1% battery level increments. 5% in my case, I'm running TheMuffStuff's Cyan Ice Cream Blur.

they already did its called hold the power button, click reboot and wait 20 seconds. also someone made some automated way to do this. you just choose to ignore it.

Sorry I don't mean to be rude or ignore the fact that rebooting fixes the battery usage just feel it is more of a band aid than a fix.
Mikey, I apologize I didn't realize that the kernel was able to be modified with a locked boot loader. I do realize that 2nd init hijacks certain process within the kernel and allows for modifications I just didn't know that the actual kernel we were running in eclipse .5 differed from the stock GB kernel.
I will be the first to admit that I have a lot to learn when it comes to the Android OS. I am very thankful to those with the knowledge to bring out these phones full potential.

I never noticed the battery problem 'cause I'm used to rebooting my phone every morning anyway (coming from a long time windows mobile user) that stupid piece of crap got me in that habit, but this phone is fast as all get out. you can hit reboot, go take your morning whiz and it'll be back up and running before you even start peein!
it's like the playstation 3 of smartphones, just be patient and wait for the software to catch up with the hardware.
maybe adjust your usage a little too. turn off all your stupid data-hungry apps. the 3g radio in this thing sucks juice like nobody's business. but you can play games/music/movies all day long in airplane mode.
I've already gotten 7 solid hours of playin music + stupid zombies while traveling. I'll turn my radio on only when I want to be bothered.
it surprises me that even the wifi doesn't kill it like the 3g radio does. if I'm on wifi all day long my battery life is AWESOME. I've even taken out the 3g tweaks from my eclipse.5 and now I have no trouble getting 12+ hours between charges. the absolute worst thing for the battery is music + wifi tether (I like using the phone hooked to my speakers for general music listening 'cause I don't miss any notifications)
the fact of the matter is, these phones will never have good battery life until the radio gets a serious update/overhaul. it seems like it transmits at FULL power constantly even if it's not necessary.
you want battery savings? turn off background data and put it in max batt saver mode. it doesn't make things that much slower and as soon as you wake the phone it reconnects pretty quickly and updates whatever you were missing out on. that and honestly, it's nice to not be notified about every piece of junkmail that reaches my inbox on a daily basis. people can text you just as easily as e-mail, and if they can't respect that, they don't deserve your respect in return.
who even had a cellphone 15 years ago, let alone all this other crap that comes along with "smart" phones. we all got along fine without them before.
come to think of it, I have never had issues with music skipping either, but I don't let my phone frivolously piss away data either. something to think about, but I remember the days when I paid by the MEGABYTE for data service too.

Dunno how others feel but I liked this post.
I recommend juice defender I love to set it to turn off all data while the screen is off. And I set it to turn it on every two hours for a minute to retrieve gmail and such. Has helped save so much battery lately and works great. That way I don't have to mess around with going g into settings to turn off data and on every time I wanna check. I also leave it in my notification bar so I can just pull down and tap and it cuts my data. Also have seen I can set it to turn off and on data when using any app I just haven't configured that setting yet. I have noticed up to 4hrs more battery when I have juice defender enabled .
I agree completely on the radio. Even when I have a very very good signal if im not using wifi and pulling data from 3g my battery has been almost completely drained within a few hours of heavy use just browsing the web. Its crazy how much juice it sucks down.

These are definitely words of wisdom. I think everyone is expecting to run there phones full blast and have no drain.... Maybe they need to hook a solar panel to there phone so it can be charged at all times...lol

Haha I was actually going to buy one of those if they aren't huge since I like to use my.phone a lot when im out on a "beer finding" day. Go bar hopping to crafted beer bars a lot and its nice to not have to ask the bartender if there is an outlet I can use hahaha.
I do think the battery should be lasting a little.longer than it does tho wit moderate use than it does 4 me

I will definitely check out juice defender. I am by no means complaining about the battery usage at all. My phone still lasts all day with the same amount of use I have always had.
I had just noticed a difference going from Eclipse .2 to .5, and it was even mentioned by Nitro that people may experience a higher battery usage with this rom. I was simply wondering if anyone had applied a script or modified a setting (as stated in OP) that made a difference. I tried to change the cpu values in the script but it didn't make a difference for me. If anyone did make a change please post the change you made and how you made it.
Sounds like rebooting after charging, or using software to modify data usage is what works the best for now.

As far as I can find, I have not seen this issue come up for anyone else. I recently jumped in with the temp root to clean up the bloat and to de-sense. Process went great and everything that I attempted to freeze is froze.
To my dismay, the last two days (since I performed the clean up) my battery life has taken a severe turn for the worse. With screen off I'm losing about 10% an hour, which is way more than before. I used to easily get a day at the office, but now a morning is a lot to ask.
I've checked the usual suspects, and have gone as far as uninstalling any new apps that I've installed since the root. All to no improvement.
I suppose my next step is to re-bloat to see if that brings me back to where I was. But before I go that far, has anyone seen or heard of this problem? If I'm the only one, I suspect my cause and effect is off. I fully expected this to help the ol' battery... But its been the opposite.
I have the exact same problem, I am going to factory reset mine as soon as I have time to set everything up again.
My battery life has literally dropped in half.

When you go freezing apps you alter the way the phone operates. You could have frozen something that the system needed to operate using less
Power. Now your phone works harder and uses a lot more power. This phone is faster and smoother than any rooted phone I ever owned.

True statement. One of the reasons I have not updated my temp root script to include de-sensing is because every time I try it it runs like crap. Seems like it just struggles looking for things the framework expects to be there.
Ah, the voice of reason! You are right, I was tottaly content until I started f'n around with the insides. Ill unfreeze it all tonight and keep my fingers crossed that I don't end up needing to reset.

Agreed... This phone is a beast with an OEM extended battery. I used %40 in 14 hours with my standard usage, which includes about 30 mins worth of calls, receiving emails and texting.

+1, i'm very satisfied with the stock battery on daily use.
When I travel, I throw in the extended battery and I'm watching an entire season of Arrested Development, no problem :x
I haven't desensed, and I only froze some of the bloatware, like the friendstream, nfl mobile...etc. that were in the app's folder, just to keep it clean, but I've learned I just crowd it up again as soon as I start downloading apps No task killers either, just use the one that shipped with it to kill some lingering apps now and then.

I was actually using your tool... appreciate your work on that, it's flawless as far as I can tell. Was going to thank you over on the development board but being an XDA noob I was not allowed!
I thawed everything out and will see tomorrow if I'm back to where I should be. If so, I may give your recommended list a try and see what that brings. I was really liking not having to see all that crapware everywhere I turned.
That is the reason I didn't use the de-sense option. I only froze some of the bloat that i really didn't use. I was afraid that if I de-sensed, it would cause more problems than it fixed.
I started a thread where I gave a long list of freezeable apps, it's linked in one of the stickies in the dev section, and I have left them all frozen. Something like 30 apps frozen. I have NOT de sensed though. I lose 1-2% an hour while idle, though the first 10% from 100 to 90 lasts much longer (complete opposite of my old Dinc which would drop the first 10% in ten mins!)
Well, I bit the bullet and factory reset tonight. We'll see how my battery fares tomorrow.
I had ADWLauncher installed before with a theme and custom icons etc. I left all that out this time.
I do like Sense quite a bit (I love the widgets) so I'm sticking with that for now.
I have two extended batteries I bought with the phone and originally my battery life was outstanding. I could stream audio all day at work (switching between iheart and Sirius) and still have battery life on my way home.
This is outstanding, no other phone I have owned could do that. Lately, my battery life is in the toilet however. I killed an extended battery in a half a day.

definitley looking forward to hearing about the results to the factory reset. i haven't had great battery life but i've also temp root and cleaned pretty soon after getting the phone, so i don't have too much to compare to.

Let us know how it goes, I'll do the same. I used my freeze script to thaw it all out... hopefully I can leave this thing on my desk for a couple hours tomorrow so I can get some good data on idle usage. Fingers crossed it goes back to the way it was.
I have actually been using Go since day one. I never really tried sense, but it drives me nuts not having a dock bar... I think we can all admit the bar at the bottom is a waste of space. Anyway, I played with it a little tonight and it seems super smooth with good looking widgets (as you mentioned). I may have to get it all set up sometime and see if I can get over my dock bar hang-up.
I had the same battery problem as you and I have yet to even temp root my phone(I run Windows 8 Dev Preview, drivers are unsupported). I don't even play games on my phone and had the same issue. It isn't a root/bloat/de-sense issue.
AtL, that battery chart looks painful. Read the issues list if you haven't already... Some folks have reported battery life like that and ended up trading in and getting one that behaved a little better.
As for my issue, after half a day it looks like thawing everything out was the ticket. This chart vs the one in the OP clearly shows a much slower idle draw. I think I'm back to only charging once a day.
So let that be a lesson to everyone... Be careful of what you think you don't want.
The factory reset seems to have helped some, but it's still not back to where it used too be. I have been streaming iheart all day on 4g using an extended battery. I got probably 6 hours out of the 1st battery & I'm down to 80% on the 2nd battery now.
I think the 4g network may be partly to blame in that I think my higher battery useage started almost exactly when the national 4g outage occured.

I have been here a while bud. I was just posting to show that I had the same issue while NOT using Temp Root or anything you had used in your experience of the problem. This has only happened to me 1 time.
Debloated with no issues
If you know what your doing and have exp with this debloating / desensing will have only positives on your battery. Im pretty sure that horrid battery life had nothing to do with debloating. And as the OP stated it only proved mild imrpovements aftyer hard reset. Unlikely debloat caused that.

The device has amazing specs, from the high quality screen (SLCD) to the performance (my personal favorite is off screen buttons). However the battery is far too small and will not last an entire work day. Also the amount of storage memory is far too low to be functional. If this device shipped with a 2500 or 3300mAh battery and a microSD card slot, I’d pay full retail for it. For now, I will have to use the Motoroal RAZR MAXX HD.
Please HTC, produce a premium no-compromise product; push it to all carriers and regain the crown of smartphone leader.

I really want this phone, but almost no usable local storage and a battery that won't make it to 5pm is unacceptable. Please like the comment on their Facebook page. I feel that if HTC actually knew people would pay top dollar for a PREMIUM NO-COMPROMISE phone, they'd actually make it. Imagine a DROID DNA with a 3300mAh battery and 128GB storage or a microSD, with a minimum guarantee of 3 software upgrades. I'd pay $400 on-contract for that. No problem.

The one person on the boards that does have it posted that he was on over a day of use with 42% of battery left!! His estimation was 3 hours of screen on time. I'll take that!! There is no possible way that a 2080mAh battery will be able to power that furnace-of-a-display with heavy use all day long.
My RAZR MAXX is down to 20% when I plug in most days. I seriously doubt HTC has pulled out a magical battery bunny.

If once the reviews start coming out stating poor battery life, I'm with ya!!! But until then, hold off. No sense in complaining about something you no nothing about (I don't mean you personally). That's all I'm saying.

Doesn't the Droid DNA have the S4 Pro processor? Doesn't it use less power leading you to have a good amount of battery life even if the battery itself isn't all that big? Just putting that out there...

i can post my battery stats tonight when i get home since i have been on 4g since i took it off the charger this morning and cant use wi-fi at work

Hmm, that'd be interesting to see. I don't Pandora a whole lot, but I do YouTube. Though I wouldn't dream of using YouTube in any quantity over LTE. I'd burn off my data in a few days.
Typical usage for me is ~2 hours of voice calls, 1-2 hours of navigation and screen on about 5 hours or so. I don't work in an office but rely heavily on remaining 'connected' so the phone gets used, heavily.
Reality is I'll probably end up with a DNA at some point, I'm just pissy about the battery and storage. It's pretty pitiful when my brand new smartphone can't replace my 4 year old MP3 player.

I can do netflix or I have a few HD movies on Google Cloud too. I'll do a hour of Pandora and then start a HD movie if you'll like. Also all my music is on Google cloud.

What I'd really like is to try it myself How do you get so lucky and get to have this phone right now? I'll do whatever it takes. I promise I'll quit crying about battery and memory at once!
S4 Pro + New LCD technology = better energy use. I can't say whether or not the S4/LCD will consume more or less power, but I can say that they'll be more power efficient in comparison to a phone using older tech. 2020mah battery seems decent.
As well, kind of seems strange to me to try and compare the device to the MAXX lines, they're devices created with battery life as a priority, and let's not forget that they weren't created that way at first. In Motorola's marketing strategy it was RAZR first, then the MAXX. Suddenly so many people who had the RAZR needed the MAXX. Moto earned a nice bit of extra profit. Who's to say HTC might not do the same?

That's what I'm afraid of. If they release something a little better, DNA+ or something, with bigger battery and memory card slot, I'd be so, so upset. But there are no leaks like that at the moment. And I'd rather not wait 6 months, too.

Just think this.. The Htc One S has 1650mAh battery and lasts longer than any other normal phone (excluding the MAXX line), so guys please wait unil reviews appear and make your own desicion....thanks

All this complaining when no one has used the phone is hilarious. Everyone is just ASSUMING they know the battery life will be crap. You don't know what HTC has pulled off since you aren't HTC.
Highlydoubt HTC would sell a phone if it only lasted 2 hours or whatever short amount of time you all expect. If that's the case, they'd make no money off it because everyone would return it.

Right, you believe that then I have a ice cube factory to sell you in Anartica. Come on, I have the SGS3 with a 2100mAh battery running Jelly Bean. The Droid has a 2020mAh battery, over sized display with more pixels than Carter has pills and let's not forget LTE. He may have gotten that phone thru a day without using LTE, no videos and very little use, real use. To me this phone is a no buy, will never buy a top of the line device like that without storage and battery. On top of all this I would bet the phone has a locked down bootloader.
The Note 2 might not have the same quality screen but that doesn't bother me, I like the idea of plenty of storage, great battery, the software is killer, did I say killer, yep and the developers will be all over this phone. The Note 2 is a easy choice over the new Droid.
It's too bad the phone had everything going for it and they cheap out with the parts that cost the least to add to a phone. I would much rather have the phone a little thicker with a larger battery and plenty of int storage. If their not going to give you an sd card then the minimum of int storage should be 32gb. The available storage on the new Droid is probably about 11-12mb. That is a complete fail IMO.

Just to let you know stop comparing the DNA to the note 2 it is not a phablet. This phone has no features that would make it one. So in theory this is the best large Smartphone on the market.

One of the people is testing the battery with movies, LTE, and bunch of other crap. He said he'll post the results.
How do you possible think that a 16 GB phone will only allow you 11-12mb of storage? Can you please tell where the remaining 15 GB just vanished off to?
So, some people have been able to get amazing battery life out of the One, but others have had fairly major heat buildup and short battery life issues. I have also seen some posts about lag issues.
I'm deciding between this phone and the LG G2, which I have heard also has battery issues. I currently have an HTC One X+, and the battery, lag, and heat buildup are pretty bad. Battery life sucks without power saver mode, but the phone is laggy with it on, so I'm cautious about getting another HTC device. I love the build quality and developer support though.
What I want to know is, are most people having good experiences with the battery/heat buildup of the One? Have you experienced consistent lag or unreasonable battery drain? Thanks for your responses.

I've had both the AT&T One x and One, and never had issues with lag or battery life on either. I'm sure one person's 'lag' is another person's 'silky smooth', but after the project butter improvements in ICS, I must say i'v ebeen extremely impressed with how the One x then, and now, the One have performed. I also manage a full day easily out of the One's battery. Today, for example, a very average day of usage, I have so far had the phone unplugged for 14:01, had 1:56 of screen on time, and listened to about 90 minutes of Spotify streaming via cell (can't use wifi at the office). I have 46% of my batter life left, and, according to GSam, I've got about 12hrs of battery left, on average.
yesterday, i plugged my phone in after 16 hours since full charge when I woke up. pretty much same type of usage as today, except yesterday i streamed about 3 hours of Spotify over cell and i was at 31% when I went to bed.
this all includes exchanging about 45-40 texts throughout the day and typical facebooking and, most importantly, actually using BlinkFeed, as well as Feedly, for about a total of 20-25 mins throughout the day.
all of this aside, there is already a TON of this info available on xda if you do a simple search. you should feel fortunate that you got a response out of one of us!

Most just said, "My One did/didn't lag and had awesome/horrible battery life." Again, thanks for the response. I think I'm going to go with the One.

no problem, happy to help. just wanted to throw in the friendly reminder . have a search for the battery life and/or battery stats threads. they typically have tons of screenshots of battery life, which you can peer through to get a sense of the life people are getting and how they are getting it. those threads also tend to breed good conversations on settings tweaks people use to maximize battery life or reduce heat issues (if they present themselves).
for what it's worth, i run bone stock b/c my One is a work phone. I also forgot to mention a key factor in that I keep my screen brightness to around 30% (which is plenty bright for this phone) and have it set to timeout at 30 seconds.
I also once read a very interesting article regarding this phone employing up to 3 different LCD panel 'models' which all displayed ever-so-slightly different contrast ratios and brightness levels, which could potentially turn different results for different users. no idea where i saw that at, but it was freakishly detailed. i'm pretty sure it was linked somewhere on these boards, perhaps in the international One boards, too. anyway, interesting read if you're into that kind of thing.
get the one. the fact that 4.3 has been all but guaranteed to arrive OTA soon is wonderful. not to mention it's a beautiful piece of hardware and the boomsound speakers are light years better than anything else available. i can actually stand to listen to music/podcasts/sports broadcasts without. I thought i'd never use them but i find myself using them a lot now. especially handy for speakerphone calls in a car.
I'm thinking about selling my HTC One. I've been using my LG G2 and Moto X more now. These two devices are awesome.

This is really great. I kept all stock, brightness is auto, screen time out not chaged. Only thing is GPS is off, except when needed. wifi is of when I am out of house.
