Will netflix work for the Atrix 4g? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the Atrix have the right specs to run Netflix?
Last month, Qualcomm announced that its new Snapdragon platform will include both the hardware and the DRM protection needed to stream content from Netflix. That won't help owners of older Android devices but should ensure that newer handsets, such as the Revolution, are capable of delivering Netflix to their users.

You answered your own question. The Atrix is not on any Qualcomm chip, let alone one that supports netflix. It will never happen.

the cpu does matter, something about Qualcomm snapdragon being more secure than other processors. why do you think they are releasing it only on phones with snapdragon processor so far? hopefully netflix will come to other phones soon.

That's the modem and has nothing to do with it. Atrix processor is Nvidia Tegra 2.

Okay, that's what I thought too when it mentioned support for certain radio signals. Thanks for clearing that up.....and that's an awesome username you have.

Really? Here's a quote that seems to indicate otherwise:
•"Netflix is using the Tegra 2 development platform to bring the Netflix experience to Android super phones and tablets. We're working closely with NVIDIA to ensure Netflix takes full advantage of Tegra's outstanding acceleration and security capabilities." -- Greg Peters, Vice President, Product Development at Netflix

Yeah I'm having the same issue. I think it might have to due to the qHD screen resolution.

Here is the thread with the device check disabled. Let me know if it is working for you. I dont have Netflix.

i have little green bar at bottom and color is ghosting like

Yeah I download that app about a week ago. The green bar and ghosting effect can get on your nerves but I can live with it until Netflix comes out with official support for the Atrix.

nah its the GTX 480 in SLi..
AMD 430 iirc, which is a distant relative of the xbox chip (but about 100X more feeble). It's standard on old snapdragons, newer ones have a gruntier 460.

Can you think of any reasons we wouldn't? It's designed for smartphones and we have devices using Tegra 1.
It would be nice to get a serious answer...
thanks... It's nice to know...
The GPU is an AMD Z430 (OpenGL ES 2.0), it doesn't use the same drivers as the other HTC devices using snapdragons SOC, it's usually a wee bit faster though it's locked to 30fps.

The GPU and CPU are the same chip, it is also a lot of other things on the same chip like GPS...
the X10a uses othe chip then X10i
'a' uses QSD8650 processor 'i' uses QSD8250
and the GPU is same for bought and it is Adreno 200... YOu can find other infos on wiki...

noob question about DUAL core

Am I correct that none of the current roms (from stock to the bleeding edge) unlock the full potential of this tablet with respect to it being dual core?
Is honeycomb the only platform that actually supports this or are there versions of froyo and gingerbread that employ support for dual core processors?
What would this even mean for us? As I understand it, having multiple cores in a processor helps with multi-tasking. Both iOS and android are not true multi-tasking operating systems so would we even see a benefit?
Can a dev or someone who really knows what they're talking about straighten me out?
Newer versions will support multi-core systems

Good article.
Technically speaking, the Tegra's are triple core devices, not including ancillary special purpose cores for video & audio.
2x Arm9's
1x Arm7
To bad it's not the bad boy with dual ARM11's....
So, the article indicated that froyo is dual core capable. Which ROM is built on froyo? What is the stock ROM built on? How can you tell?
Thanks
All of the GTab roms listed here are either froyo or gingerbread. Froyo is 2.2.x and gingerbread is 2.3.x
Thanks. How about the stock ROM? Is that dual-core capable? If so, what constitutes the performance improvement of these ROMs over the stock install?

1080p Video Recording

Just wondering is it possible some of the devs here to hack the camera apk. and allow us to record in full hd 1080p. for fact I know the dual core processor can support, similar hack was done to the atrix. Anyone want to give it a try or teamwin?

yes it is possible with a leaked camer apk.
How theyd do it.. well thats not my area
We'll probably get there once we get a full root going.
I thought 1080p recording was supported in 2d mode, but you could only do 720p in 3d.
I have no idea where I read this from though.

When the phone was first announced, it was stated that it would have 1080p video recording in 2D and 720p in 3D but when the phone came out, sprint and HTC modified the specs and the phone can only record video in up to 720p in 2D and 3D. Also, once this phone gets permanent root, the devs will probably be able to cook up 1080p recording!
If the camera supports it ( its 5mpx so depends on the offloading) Ill try working on it, we need kernel source for it

What a helpful reply!
Hi, I'm a telescope guy so OTA to me means Optical Tube Assembly.. What does it mean to you? No offense, but one generally does not Abbreviate the Very First Time they use a term, but the Second and from then on, for efficiencies' sake. Otherwise,... its not helpful and is in fact highly In-efficient as just wastes time for all the people who then have to look it up, or ask: what do YOU mean by OTA?
;~)
Also, 1280p? That's not really a standard... It should be 720p (which is: 1280x720 ) or 1080p (which is: 1920x1080).....

This is interesting

While is doesn't have anything to do directly with the Photon, It's Tegra related, so I thought I'd share it incase anyone else was interested. I found it pretty cool. And hopefully Motorola will release a Photon 2 with this included. (Not likely, but I can hope)

Tegra 3 is going to kick ass for sure! And while the additional 5th core is something to look forward to, did you know that the Tegra 2 also has a separate ARM7 processor that does what Tegra 3's 5th core does?
Awesome right?

Yeah, the other core pretty much handles all the little crap, like the phone dialer. Anything more power intensive kicks in the big boys.
Most smart phones dating back to the Hero at least had a slow second core to handle the modem, so it wasn't hogging CPU time from the OS and Apps.
Who wants Kal-el when you can get Nvidia Wolverine!?! That wont be for a while tho :/

ICS hardware acceleration?

First off, I apologize if this has been discussed before. I'm posting from my phone and search is kinda funky on mobile but I didn't see this same question in the results. My question is does the Atrix and Xoom share the same generation Tegra 2? With the new aosp code pushed today I read that a Xoom build was published. In theory, and if it has hardware acceleration, wouldn't our Atrix also have hardware acceleration if you used the Xoom driver? Or are drivers not supplied in the aosp? Never really dealt with source code besides a couple Linux x86 applications.
