No data signal with CM 6.1.3 V4.5.7 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I would like to use CM 6.1.3 V4.5.7 (by Wolfbreak) for x10 but I have no data signal!
I tried to use apn from my provider and crash system server but nothing works!
Can someone help me?
thanks!

I had the same problem but what i did was make sure i followed all of the directions carefully. I think my mistake was that i didnt download the 4.5 version instead of the latest version first. Carefully follow the directions and try again. Could be just a missed zip file you didnt unzip.

Thanks for your answer, but i found something else!
In fact I installed 3G Auto OnOff and added the widget on the desktop then i pushed the button to activate 3G and it worked...
I don't know why it didn't work before whereas data was enabled...

glad you could fix it =)

[Q] Problem with Wollfbreaks Gingerbread v3.7.0

Hi, I'm from Germany and my English is bad, so I use a translator.
I'm really happy with the v3.7.
However, unfortunately I am missing the pictures in music player.
How can we solve the problem?
Thank you.
I'm not sure if i can fix your problem, but maybe you could try this miui music player it works in most roms.
If anyone knows a newer version i give a thanks because this is the only one i found and my memory doesn't even help me to remember where i found it
PS: It will only work in english, in other language it shows in chinese(i think, don't know if it is really chinese)
Found much better one!
Sorry double post, didn't know how to be able to edit and add new files in the post.
Found in another post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948556&page=3
I believe it won't install directly, but if you copy it inside system/app and reboot it will work like a charm.
This one is newer(newer that i've found) and also will be in english in other languages(it would be english before only if the android was in english).
If you like it, hit thanks button, thanks!
I am having a problem with the sound coming from the ear speaker
I am also having problems with force closes, Facebook connections (the background sync) fail, and I can't pair with a Bluetooth hands-free device. (if it is compatibility can this be modified rom?) I would greatly appreciate the help, as I have dug through threads and threads of threads. Googled the issues, through different descriptions, both detailed and simple, and I could not find any resolutions, regarding these issues.... please help, otherwise the ROM is Great....
.I appreciate all of the hard work the DEV''s Admins and moderators do.....as well as all of the others that pitch in to make this a glorious site. Worked with several mods, including installing a cam on my Blue Angel, for a few years. I don't see how i got by without this site.....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

@ gcopher
i think regarding ur problem have u flashed wolf's latest v3.8 on ur Rom ??? if yes then
it has some problems for me too regarding updating facebook !!! else if ur not using then have u fixed permissions in xrec !! ??
if not try doin it and i think it shud work
Thank me if it worked !!!
I have problem with auto brightness. I used a lot of different widgets/apps to turn it on, but they don't work. FAQ said that I should turn it on with power widget, i tried and it doesn't work.
@Lesmian
have u rooted ur phone and if u have rooted then do fix permissions in Xrecovery
hope it works !!
Thank me if it did
eh ;/ I fixed permissions, but all is the same. Auto brightness still don't work.
i jus tried it on mine ..its workin fine!!! ...dunno what might be the problem in urs!!
hmm and you use wolf rom v 3.8? did you changed something in settings or it just works? Do you use any widget for auto brightness set up?
no i use power widget and m using wolf's v3.6 !!
@acerulz
Yep I fixed permissions, however, it did not 'fix' the sound. Still coming from ear speaker and blue tooth issue is not resolved.
I DON'T THINK 3.8 was not available until this morning, I will upgrade to see if it "fixes it", HOWEVER, IF you are having problems with 3.8, the issue isnt resolved.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE!!!

I have a problem as well. Im currently on v3.5 + update 3.6 (was offline few days, so im missing 3.7), i wont update to 3.8 (seems unstable) and im currently missing a Conversations.apk (found 1, the icon is not the real SE icon, its some modded, and i dont like it) can anyone provide me the original SE conversations.apk?
Query about flashing 3.8 update
hello..this is my first post here. I flashed WB rom v3.5 around the time it was released and its totally changed my phone. Its super snappy now..
I saw the 3.8 update thing today and my question is whether I can flash it using xrecovery without any data wipe because I have already done all the syncing stuff after the first flash.
I flashed 3.8 update without any data wipe and all works fine for me.

Features:
• No Data Disconnection Problems
• Torch is working
• Camera with flash
• So far everything basically!
Except (Not working):
• Wifi Tethering
If you have data disconnection problems, check this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286309

I have modified the build.prop file so that the default language is English:

How to fix permissions with cwm? I've got problems with market fc's.
ok, first bug report after about an hour of slight use:
- market force closes often. But I was able to install superuser and titanium backup Solution: Probably will be solved if permissions are fixed via recovery or maybe installing version 3.1.6 will work (3.1.3 is installed)
- pre-installed superuser doesn't work correctly all the time. Solution: Download superuser from the market. Works perfectly after that.
Otherwise no problems by now. I think this ROM can become quite awesome since the only bugs I found by now should be very easy to fix.
God dam*it the market FC's ALL THE TIME! :S

Is it possible to make a version flashable by xRecovery? Thanks
Phhh! Why xrec? Now we have cwm. FXP uses Cwm and all others could do it now also, since we have doomkernel which is compatible with mostly all the roms, and there you have xrec, cwm 4 and 5 included. So, why do you want to have xrec version?

Did you test it by switching to only 2g and then back to only 3g. I bad you do not have data connection.
Please test before you say you do not have problems because if your data does not drop out you right there is no problem. Only trouble begins if your lost signal and it will not reconnect.
Please report after test.
Build.prop i try, no luck.

[Q] [cm7] market crash! I can't post directly in the topic...

Sorry for posting here, but according to the forum rules I can't post directly in the topic.
I have a wellknown trouble with the market:
I'm running mik's CM port for my p500, the first day everything went ok, but today I noticed that every market installation fail with 3 crashes:
com.android.vending
com.android.media
com.android.vending
(in this sequence).
I tried to clean the application data, then I switched the language to English (US), then cleaned the data's another time (also with titanium backup).
No way, my market still crashes and seems that there are no solutions apart the two I just tried...
Anyone has suggestions?
I need to reach mik to let him know this bug!
What CM are you using? On it 7.2 you must install newest GAPPS... they seems only one compatible with it for now.. ON 7.1 miks install temasek GAPPS
I'm using mik's 7.1-thunderg, I didn't installed any gapps the gapps downloaded themselves the first run of the phone.
There is a way to obtain 7.2 on my optimus one? I found only mik's cyanogen that is "vanilla"!
By the way, I installed temasek market but it continue crashing, so I can't install anything...
I tried the old market and also the news market (from themasek) but it continue crashing! Now I'll try to use the old one, in english, after reboot so I'll check if this is the same bug as signaled in CM forum
SOLUTION!
I found a solution!
Searching with adb logcat I found the reason of com.android.media crashing!
I was using profiles to deny (or turn on always) vibration! Market doesn't like it, and crash (It's strange but it will crash also with vibration turned on!)
So the definitive solution about the strange market crash is simply:
create a custom application group with market in
set for this group the vibration on "system setting"
Go and enjoy your market!
I put the line of the logcat here, so other people will find this solution! (thank you google)
java.lang.SecurityException: Requires VIBRATE permission
I'll try to post this solution in the cyanogenmod thread but if I can't (for permissions) can some mod do this for me?

[Q] wifi tethering

Im trying to setup wifi tethering on the x10mp (phone 3G->wifi to a laptop).
I've tried Barnacle (laptop failed to connect to phone), and "wifi tether for root users" (two apps), but both gave an error message that the kernel is missing some components.
has anyone got some wifi tethering app to work on x10mp? and if so, which one and how?

If you are on stock SE firmware, even if you have rooted your phone, Wifi tethering wont work for you, as the stock firmware does'nt support tethering. Here is a link with a list of tutorials and custom ROMs (I think all ROMs from android 2.3 support tethering):
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588192
The easiest way would be to install xrecovery on your stock kernel (you'll find one under "stock kernel based custom ROMs) and then flash a GingerBread(2.3) ROM via xrecovery.
Please press thanks if I helped .
Tnx.
Im using the stock SE ROM.
Kernel 2.6.29
Firmware 2.1-update1
Any chance I could get wifi tethering working w/o installing a custom ROM?

Don't be afraid of flashing Roms in stock kernel, its simplicity itself. If you have already rooted your phone, here's a quick how-to:
1.Download stericson's busybox from the market & install newest version (currently 1.20.2, I think)
2.Download the zip file in this post
3.Download script manager from the market.
4. Extract the files onto your sdcard so that you find the files "chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar, readme.txt, installer" in sdcard/download/xrecovery.
5.Open script manager, give superuser permissions (tick 'browse as root' on first startup), navigate to the folder you extracted and run 'installer' as root (tip on the superuser symbol on the top left corner. When activated, it should be green).
6.Download the Rom you want to flash onto your sdcard, a link you'll find in my earlier post(only choose from stock kernel based roms)
7.Reboot.
8. When the SE logo appears, press back button quickly several times. You will boot into xrecovery.
9.Make a backup via xrecovery.
10.wipe data via xrecovery and install your downloaded rom, surprise, via xrecovery.
11.reboot&enjoy!

Looking forward to the files you've mentioned.
1. Can I create a backup of the current kernel & ROM (the SE stock ones which the phone arrived with)?
In case something breaks during the process, I could hopefully revert to these.
2. Can I get the wifi tethering functionality without updating the kernel, only by installing a new ROM?
When I tried the "wifi tether for root users" app it showed an error message that the kernel is missing some components.

So, here is the zip.

Yes, you are able to restore your previous system via an xrecovery backup.

NOTE: I havn't tested this yet, because I havn't had time to reflash & root my X10 MP. As said above, if it doesn't work, I will fix .

What about my question regarding the kernel? as I mentioned, when I tried the other tethering app, the error it displayed was that the kernel is missing some components. so If I use the stock kernel, and only install a new ROM, will this still allow wifi tethering, or do I need to flash a new kernell as well?

Well, I don't think your kernel is missing components, that would
1. Disprove the links in your post and
2. Disprove what tommy posted.
Also, I'm pretty sure that when I was on Minicm7Pro (with stock kernel), I had wifi tethering.
PS.: Bro, if you are using your browser for posting and you are logged in, there's a "Thanks"-button on the bottom left of every post, or if you are using the android app, just click on a post and the option thanks (danke) will appear. Pressing this will for one thing be easier than writing thanks in a new post, and also, many people like it when their thanks meter goes up and will thank you in return.
PPS.: If you alredy know all that and I've just made a fool of myself, sorry . Besides, I'm just testing the method I described myself, I'll give you feedback as soon as everything works .

OK.
What ROM do u recommend getting (I'm staying with the stock SE kernel)?
I want something super stable, and for which everything works.

First of all, did the script work (yet)? Have you tried it yet? Sorry, I havn't tested yet, but I will do so today.
Secondly, MiniCM7pro always worked well for me, but if you like the stock SE style, try SonyStyle by the same developer.

Actually, I remembered, that i can simply see the settings in my wife's mini, which is with the stock ROM, and uses Brancle. I just tried it, works flawlessly. The phone is only rooted, nothing more. Here are the settings:
SSID - elka
BSSID - empty
Wireless encyption - five low-case letters, no numbers, no symbols, for example - abcde, ASCII encoding
Channel - 6
Custom Wifi Ad-hoc - none
Skip wpa_supplicnat - not checked
Auto Associate - not checked
Accsess control - not checked
New client actions - Notify (checked), Sound - Play a ringtone, Light - empty, Allow - empty
Local mode - checked,
DHCP - Gw - 192.168.5.1, Mask - 255.255.255.0, First Host - 100, Lease time - 1200 sec, DNS1 and 2 - empty
NAT - leave everything default
WAN- rmnet0
LAN - empty
What do you mean when you say "laptop failed to connect to phone" - tries, but can't get address, or nothing happens? If nothing happens, try to press the "Associate" button.
I remember, that there was something strange with the password - make it as simple as you can. If it is not working, try temporarily to disable encryption.
I cannot tell the version of Brancle I am using, but Market doesn't offer me an update, so it must the latest one, at least for the stock x10 mini with stock ROM. If you know how to check it - tell me, i will do it.
And something else - check the security settings of the laptop - are the Ad-Hoc networks and WEP encryption allowed? Brancle makes Ad-hoc only, not infrastructural.
Good luck!
EDIT/
As I see from market, the version of Brancle is 0.6.7 (evo)

Tnx Tomny.
I set the same settings as u did, still no luck.
The barnacle log shows: WIFI: failed to reassociate
Im using linux (debian), with network manager, which should be able to connect to an adhoc network,
any ideas?
TIA
Update:
It works for only a single time. The gnome network manager defined the wireless network as "infrastructre", and I changed it to "adhoc".
It connected once, but Im not being able to reconnect again now. ;-(
any suggestions?
Try to connect some other device, to see whether the problem is in the device, or in the Mini/Brancle. What do you mean, saying "not being able to reconnect"? - You cannot see network, you see it, but nothing happens when trying to connect, you can try to connect, but cannot aquire address (ie stuck on "connecting...")

well, the log on barnacle shows "failed to reassociate", but not much else.
how did u define the network on the pc/laptop? any special settings there besides being an "adhoc"?
Could you please check what is the kernel version & OS build number on ur x10mp? (they are listed under settings, in one of the submenus there).
TIA
