I tried to search this but the search function won't work for me.
My phone is brand new U.S. model with 1.6 installed.
I was connected to the web via my home wireless.
I can't watch videos on the web. Do I need to upgrade? If so, to what level?
Is there a setting I can change?
Also, there were popups galore. How do you select individual browser windows to close when this happens? I could only do all of them.
I think you need at least Android 2.1 to run flash. Try Skyfire for a browser, it will probably work a lot better than the stock browser on 1.6, but really you should be able to just download the US update to get to 2.2 which would be a lot better than what you have now.
The phone says it is up to date.
When I go to check for updates, the phone claims there are none. Do I have to cheat and risk the warranty to get updated?

You can get an official Dell upgrade package from this page.
You can visit this link
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg
or scan this barcode (it's for the link above)

from your phone to DL the update direct to your phone. If you tap on the notification for the DL after it completes it should install. If it does not
rename it update.pkg and put it in the root of your SD Card
Boot into recovery mode by powering off, then powering on while holding BOTH volume buttons
Select option 2 from the recovery menu to install the update
This will be the same as a factory reset and you will have to install your apps and set up your phone again.
That build is for unlocked Streaks. If you want to install the latest official build for your carrier you can probably get it from this page.
AT&T locked
Thank you very much.
So if I have a locked AT&T phone, I have three options, if I understand this correctly.
1) Leave it alone and live without Flash capability.
2) Update to whatever is on the last link.
3) Use the non-official update I've seen on this forum. Has the latest one (1.9 I think) been out long enough to be determined if it is stable?
Thanks again for the patience and help.
Okay, so the link on the Wiki page for a non-unlocked AT&T phone downloads a .mbn file. The other one was a .pkg and if I could use it, I would put it on my SD card. What do I do with the .mbn file to use it to update the Streak? I'm sure there is a thread for using that type of file, so if ysomebody could point me to it, I'll go from there. Preferably a thread that assumes minimal base knowledge level beyond generally using the phone.

Hello,
I just flashed my wifi gtab 10.1 with the stock touchwiz ux rom via odin from the development thread.
Now, whenever i start the download mode on my tab, following is coming up:
http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=733&d=1304696743
The shown one here is from a S2, but I get exactly the same screen with my gtab.
Before I flashed it via odin this screen wasn't there and I got directly into download mode.
Even restoring the normal stock rom or installing cwm didn't remove it.
Am I the only one with this warning screen and is it possible to remove it again?
Thanks in advance.
So nobody knows something about this? That's sad. =/
Edit: Sorry for double posting, wanted to edit.
its nothing much
just means you've flashed a ROM
So it's absolutely normal that this warning screen will pop up everytime I start the download mode from now, because I flashed a ROM one time?
Also, there is no way to remove it?
Thanks so far.
on the Galaxy S II you can either get a usb jig or do that flash/reflash trick but on the Tab i dont think there's anything yet. but hey thats no big deal !
....DELETE
No, I think it came with the latest official ROM. I just got my tab the other day, brand new. The firmware on it is XXKG8. I haven't added anything, and as I said, it's new.
I get that message before download mode. I have been actually hesitating to root it because of this, thinking that they have added some sort of counter like on the SGS2.
So this is not the result of adding a rom, it appears on brand new retail tabs as well, it seems.
So from what I gather, nothing happens when you press the yes button to go into download mode after you see that message?

That is normal, no need to worry about it. I got the same warning once I performed the 11MB update on my UEKG4 build. I have a feeling that warning was "borrowed" from vanilla 3.2, anyone with a Xoom tablet on 3.2 please let us know. Did you had an unlocked bootloader on your tablet (lockpad)?

Because if you did, the update locked your bootloader unfortunately. Still, there is no biggie on that also... Personally, I don't care if it locks the bootloader, as long I can flash the tablet with CWM. That means I can flash a custom ROM, kernel and also root. It makes no difference to have a locked or unlocked bootloader, unless you want to flash something that needs a different bootloader (i.e. Tabuntu).

Attempted 2.3.3 with 0.71 baseband, phone just goes in continuous boot_loop. Ive tried almost every available baseband with no results.
Here is what I have attempted so far:
1. Flash tool and forum instructions:
a) Device will take any 1.6 (branded or unbranded) firmware but wont allow to use any features of interface other then emergency calling
b) 2.1 firmware with different revisions/baselines have been attempted as well but device just wont boot at all.
c) after flashing with 2.3 firmware device goes in to constant boot_loop.
2. SEUS couldn't locate the new software as my phone has latest software available from the server. (however I'm still on 1.6 )
3. Same with SE Companion, it comes up with the message that software is not available for my phone yet.

Thanks
Folk, anyone? I need your help desperately....
Folks* sorry - TYPO
Hey everyone, I've searched thru the forum looking to see if someone had the same issues I did, and the stellar assistance that was given to others with various problems, I'm hoping that I can get the same (haven't seen anyone with my particular issues yet).
As mentioned in the title, I'm using a stock T-Mobile Amaze, unlocked and I'm using it in Barbados. A few weeks ago, a notification popped up on my phone.

Naturally, I was curious to see what this update was, but after ensuring that everything that was required for the update was in place, I see this...
...which I'm sure means there's some error in installing the update. The phone freezes, and I can't get out of this without doing a battery pull a la blackberry. This is issue 1.
Issue 2 is that a lot of my menus have wrong names, e.g. the 1 for Wireless connections says "Turn It On"
and even the options within the menus are wrong, e.g. In the display menu, to set the screen brightness, that option is entitled "Set A PIN code to lock your UIM Card"
Further to these, often when I try to access many of my settings, the whole shebang crashes, and asks me about sending an error report. Til now, nothing has changed in that regard. Any assistance to these problems would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Your best bet is just to do a master reset on the phone. It should clear up all those issues.
tried it...didn't work (well, the menus still are screwed up, and the settings keep crashing when i try to access some of them, like the Sound menu.)

Have you tried locking your bootloader and flashing the stock firmware?
You already unlocked your bootloader, right?
Just flash a custom rom.
If you REALLY want to flash the 1.43 update then relock your bootloader and flash this: http://goo.gl/KvHzj
Rename it to PH85IMG.zip and store it on the root of your sdcard.
It will update everything.
Then unlock your bootloader again, reroot and you'll be good.
I believe this only works if you have already registered for the beta program.
Ok, so, yesterday, my device finally allowed me to register for the One UI 3.0 beta, however, after 24 hours of checking for an update and never recieved it, I tried out of theory and curiosity, <---lol, and successfully forced the beta to show up. First, I can only verify that this process worked on SM-N981U1 Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G US unlocked version. I don't take responsibility if it does not work on other models, as I am not the wealthiest, so, I'm unable to afford other models to test. Here's my process:
1. download Samsung USB drivers for your device.
2. download adb & fastboot tools.
3. download latest version of odin.
4. BACK UP BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, IT MADE ME FACTORY RESET, SO, MAKE A BACKUP! *Make sure you know your username and password, because I got the "Unauthorized reset attempt" warning and kinda thought I accidentally FRP locked myself out, because, I'm new to this and I'm not always prepared. lol.*
5. head to the sammobile website.
and download the first firmware version from August, 2020. For mine, my CSC is XAA, Model: SM-N981U1.
6. Extract firmware into a folder you can keep track of.
7. In Odin, flash AP, BL, CP, CSC, and HOME.
8. When Odin finishes, it boots a couple times, then, it will make you factory reset, in order to start.
9. When it boots, it will go through the setup process. I personally skipped everything except samsung account, because, I was testing my theory and knew I might need to reset again in the near future. lol.
10. Once it's set up, download Samsung Members App and verify that device is still enrolled in One UI 3.0 Beta Program.
11. Check for software update.
12. download and install update.
13. Phone reboots, and can be set up.
Tip: Make sure you check software updates to see that you're on the latest.
Update: I've updated my note 20 two more times, since I posted. It's now on the December security patch.
Thank you for the tutorial.
Anyone tried?
I didn't try the above, but I just got the One UI 3 beta today. So far, so good. Bonus: WiFi calling seems to be enabled on my unlocked N20 Ultra:victory:

Hello everybody
First time poster thanks for the help in advance. Please note I am a total novice when it comes to anything like rooting or unlocking boot but i can follow instruction if you leave them.
I bought my phone from Ali express global launch event. When I received the phone i noticed some basic functionality is missing for example : Gallery, File explorer, CAMERA APP. and so on.
It doesnt make sense, my camera works through whatsapp and such but no dedicated app.
I am starting to think the firmware was faulty. Waited for few updates hoping it will sort itself out, but no luck.
Now I am considering installing stock firmware but I have no idea where to start. I have downloaded few roms "different versions?" but i don't know how install them on my phone. They are on the root of the phone storage but i assume i must root my phone to get fast boot ? because i tried restarting with holding volume down, after language selection i can chose between wipe and reboot no update option.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you use the App Drawer view, you may find the missing icons there.
In settings/app-management/app-list you will find all installed apps.

Only found files in app list but I can't open it. Other apps have options of : open, uninstall, and force stop but not this app. For the other apps like camera and gallery they are not there. Do you think a fresh install of stock ROM will help or no ?
If the apps are not displayed in your app list, the best thing you can do is do a factory reset.
Which firmware version do you have on the GT ?
The GT was in its original packaging and shrink-wrapped when you received it ?
Ya it was brand new. Bought from Realme official store.
I see your firmware is A 16 mine is A13 but when I check for update it says am on the latest version?!
Also my Google backup is greyed out so factory reset will set me back big time.
