[Q] What does USB Debugging do when enabled? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

x10 flasher says to turn usb debugging after booting on... I never did it...
So what does usb debugging actually do if I turn it on? Speed up my device?

It allows you to root your device, flash roms, etc... while connected to usb. Just a standard permission Sort of like the one asking you if you will allow non market apps to be installed

unroot successfully but.... still have problem...

before I root my vibrant, If I connect my phone to PC(NO debugging mode), it was working as mass storage.
After rooted, It has to be debugging mode all the time, whenever I try to access to mass storage of my phone.
If no debugging mode, it only charge my phone.
So I thought, It will work if I do unroot my phone.
So I finally unroot my phone!(No more Superuser and try to use quickboot and asking my to root my phone.)
But still it only charging my phone without debugging mode.
The problem with the debugging mode is, if the samsung android driver is not installed, it won't reconize the phone. I use my phone as memory stick a lot of times. So I usually connect to my phone a lots of different computer.
So I want to be able to connect my phone using as mass storage with no driver needed.
Is there any possible way to fix this problem???

Why do some roms have USB debugging enabled always?

I am on openoptimus, and USB debugging always gets enabled after a reboot. Why is this so? What do I gain/lose by disabling USB debugging, how do I make it so that it does not get enabled after a reboot?

How to keep USB Debugging on automatically after reboot?

Hello,
I noticed that on stock LG firmware the USB Debugging option is turned off automatically whenever I reboot the device.
Is there any way to make the USB Debugging option stay on after the reboot?
Thanks.
if i remember correctly thats supposed to happen and i dont think theres a way around it. usb debugging stays on for custom roms though

USB Debugging

Is there anyway to permanently disable USB Debugging?
I have noticed no matter what I do (Turn off Developer options, deselect USB debugging, etc..) that when I plug my phone into a new device it turns debugging back on.
Thanks,
Keith
What ROM are you using? that shouldn't happen on stock
I am totally stock.

Unable to enter USB debugging mode

Hello all,
I purchased this phone a month back and would like to install custom roms/root it etc.
I am unable to get my phone to enable USB debugging and allow access for my PC. (I have a unlocked bootloader). The notification (prompt) for USB Debugging which shows up the phone (asking if one wants to grant access or not) doesn't show up. Hence I am unable to use adb or fastboot to install TWRP.
I have tried using the cable provided by the company on both USB 3.0 & 2.0 ports to no avail.
I am aware that there is a "How to Guide" under the News/Discussions section. However, it hasn't helped me much.
Any possible solutions?
Thank you
PS- When I connect to pc using USB cable I get the prompt asking me if I want to use it for file transfer,PTP or no data transfer.
Are the drivers properly installed?
What does the device manager show, when your phone is connected via USB and USB debugging is switched on?
What happen if you type "adb shell" when your phone is connected?
Enable it in developer option
Allow USB debugging and USB debugging Security Settings) in Developer Options
