unlocking Xperia X10 from AT&T network - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have bought SE Xperia X10 here in US with AT&T. I am trying to unlock the same from the network provider. Could someone help me in getting the code.
Thanks,
Krishna

U can also use www.fastgsm.com which gives unlock codes which i have done for phones. At least look at the site. I think its $20. Look for JUST unlocking, not the whole package for debranding too cuz thats more.

I only find a $49.99 option, can you link the $20 one?

I cannot see the $19.99 option either on FASTGSM. I also want my AT&T X10a. So far, mobilecanada has been unable to do it. It seems that the most popular methods on this forum are with "Lancez" or FASTGSM. Anyone people recently have success with either one??
Thanks

Sorry about that. It must of went up in price. My great appologies to get ur hopes up. Its $50. If i find another source cheaper, i will post it here

X10 mini (E10i) unlock
Hi everyone,
My girlfriend bought new X10 mini, E10i model which is locked on t-mobile. I'm interested in whether it is finally available free unlock or still only via code unlock? What is the best place(website) to get(buy) a code? So, something reliable.
It is possible to unlock phone with custom rom? I'm new at this so please do not laugh
best regards from Croatia
No a rom is just the interface you will need a mep code from your network provider or pay in a shop to do it kk

Service providers want to give that codes to customers? How this work in practice? Thank you for reply
The mep code belongs to you. You should tell them you want to use a work sim in your phone

Will the upgrade to 2.3 undo the sim unlock I just paid for?

I just sim unlocked my phone from at&t and have it debranded and rooted.
I'm just wondering, since I'm running a global generic firmware, will upgrading to gingerbread affect the root or sim unlock on my phone when it is finally released?
Sent from my X10a using XDA app
No it shouldn't, that is done on a deeper level than just the firmware.
The Gingerbread update will un-root your X10. Hopefully the devs can get it rooted shortly after, however they are having trouble rooting the ARC 2.3.3 update.
Are you talking about the sim unlock? Or the root?

Thanx, I was pretty sure that was the case, I just wanted to confirm it. I was more worried about having to pay to get it sim unlocked again, but I shouldn't, should I? That has something to do with the bootloader, not the firmware, right?

This is totally different. Your Sim will remain unlocked if you change your firmware.
Cheers.
Thanx, I'm really glad to hear that, I believed that to be the case I just wanted to confirm it with someone to make sure.

Sim unlock
Who did you go through to get your sim unlocked? I've been looking around and it looks like most of them are scams and I don't wanna get ripped off. I just switched to tmobile and want to use my att xperia still. I just wanna get reliable info from someone about it who has had it done.
the best place to go and for a cheap 14 bucks is http://davinciteam.us/index.html
they are great and will help you through it very reliable just make sure if you are not sure contact them they will talk you through the proccess
They don't have the x10 on their list. Damn, anywhere else that doesn't rip you off that might have it?
i just have my x10a from att unlocked to use with tmobile now, i got my unlock code from unlocking.com for 35 bucks i think and it took them about 10 days, it works perfect tho, i've been using on tmobile for couple of months now and i flashed so many roms and the phone still is unlocked. ah, the best thing about that site is they give you unlock code not software craps like the other do, so you might wanna try, good luck

I'm having the same problem and I'm with Orange. You do have to get your phone unlocked unless you intend to get new Provider Firmware. Also I'm a noob so I'm a little uneasy about trying to unlock the Ace myself, I'd rather take it into the shop. Plus I'm told it has to be physically unlocked by USB. Paying for codes online does not work and in my case even the so called Temporary Unlocks do not work.
Have you figured out the letter codes? Maybe you could help me find an alternative Orange firmware? I'm running Gingerbread BVKQA.
Hope this helps

I just want standard samsung firmware none of this carrier rubbish.
I will still be using a tmobile sim in the phone?
so is the simlock such a big issue?

Funny thing, I have the exact same Ace from Orange. I rooted it, first went from 2.2 to 2.3.4 and now I updated it to 2.3.5. Looking for a custom rom to flash it with but I've never gotten that far with customization so I'm not too sure. Thinking of replacing the boot animation to the nexus one's. Looks pretty epic ;D

I think so... but I am just going by what other threads and other forums have said. I'm not sure it will brick it, but it won't be up to snuff that's for sure. I haven't been on XDA long but I've had some invaluable help from EmoBoiix3 along the way. It's a name worth searching. He wrote the Newbie Guide at the start of the Galaxy Ace forum. Seems to know his onions!

Same.
After umming and erring about it I finally snapped up the courage to root via Superoneclick. Downloaded Kies. Hooked up. And like yourself I went to 2.3.4 which is where I seem to be in a bit of a rut.
My phone is still network locked - haven't the balls to try unlocking myself - but that is my next priority in the next couple of days via the High Street Unlock Shops. Until then I cannot try out any fancy ROMs.
Also, dunno what the hell I've done to the phone but the infamous upd_1.zip no longer appears to work for rooting now!!!!
I'm curious, how did you get to 2.3.5? And is your phone unlocked?
Phone T Mobile and asked for unlock code, got it free!

I'm pretty sure it's unlocked now since the Orange animation thing is gone from the boot screen. I got 2.3.5 by updating through Odin from androidadvices.com. I'm not sure if that unlocks it though but I believe it is. It says you can't update with the phone locked to the carrier and I did it anyway and worked when I went from 2.2 to 2.3.4. Not sure if I just got lucky or something. You should give it a try.

Thats cool. I had heard it was just Vodafone doing it for free, but don't believe everything I hear.
Got mine unlocked today. Paid a nice man 15 dibs to take a weight off my shoulders and now I'm just about ready to flash. Happy Days!

SuperAce609 - Not sure how you managed it but well done. I'm thinking my next step should be to get new firmware. European KPH I think. Apparently it is compatible with most ROMs available to the Ace. Been advised to steer clear of Cyanogen though (pity!) as it isn't official or stable enough for Ace.

Yeah! And I was so exited to try it out too! I'm thinking of changing it to the Honeycomb theme but I'm not too sure. And since there isn't a version compatible with the 2.3.5 I have on, I can't do it . Besides, since I switch themes a lot, knowing my self, I'd probably be switching from rom to rom and that sounds like too much work xD

In a bizarre twist I went for the most recent firmware in the end. KPO. Now wishing I hadn't and gone for the KPH instead. Also rethinking Cyanogen. Seriously need to make up my mind!

+1 for this, have unlocked my T-Mobile UK Moto Atrix to use with my work Vodafone SIM, would like to remove the bloat-ware, maybe even upgrade to Gingerbread somehow (with a feasibility to revert to Factory ROM)
I've made mistake of loading Gingerbread orange fr which was so slow and unpleasant experience. So now it is on CM7 but need webtop some time soon and would like to have chance to move back to stock.

Carrier unlock WITHOUT rooting

I would like to carrier unlock my SGS3 without rooting it. Is there a way to do so? I am willing to pay for such a service.
I will buy the phone from Comviq (Tele2) in Sweden.
Anyone who have tried one of those online services where you buy an unlock code?
Code will work but Rooting is easy

Is there a tested website that we know work?
Thanks.

They won't. You need to have the phone at least a year before they give you the code. Does anyone know a trusted website where you can unlock the international SGS3?
BTW! Can someone give me the link to "rooting method" carrier unlock? I might just root it if I can't find a trusteed website.

Hi! I'm thinking about getting myself an Galaxy S3, but the one I've been offered is locked to another swedish carrier. I'm using Telia and the phone is locked to "3".
Is there a great carrier unlock-software with minor (or no at all) bugs or required reboots? I'm also thinking about installing Cyanogenmod or another Custom ROM to it..
Is this the one and only great solution that fits me the best?

Sorry but that is the best I can find. Although this doesnt look too difficult. The codes on the phone seem to be better encripted than on other phones so therefore software isnt an option.
Try phoning the carrier you are locked on even if it wasn't your contract and see what they can offer you! 3 Seem to be better about unlocking than other carriers as they are based in the uk they are required by law.
hope this helps

Peoples should stop to use this fix that may be dangerous in some case
Better to stick with GalaxSim Unlock for now
It really isnt because if there are any problems you can replace the old files and in an extreme case you can reflash your phone!
