Just looked at spare parts battery history and noticed "wifi running" is reporting the same level/% as "wifi on". Is this an indicator that wifi isn't properly sleeping on my phone?
I have wifi set to sleep when screen is off in wireless & networks advanced settings. I could have sworn that in SC 2.9 and earlier, "wifi running" was reporting much lower than "wifi on" with this setting. Also I am experiencing worse battery life since flashing 2.9.2.
Anyone else having the same behavior? Any ideas?

Can someone clear up what it means for the battery when both Wifi and 3g are enabled at the same time but only one is connected? So when I pull down my status bar (on Gingerbread) both are lit up. Depending on where I am, only one will be connected. What does it mean (battery wise) for a constant on Wifi connection to have 3g data enabled at the same time, and more importantly what does it mean to have 3g enabled and wifi enabled at the same time yet set to sleep/never? If I toggle wifi when the screen goes on via a battery saver, is that causing more battery drain constantly turning the wifi on and off than having the wifi kept alive (still sounds like this would not save the battery from the name but that's what I read!) Surely if there are only a few hotspots I connect to, it seems that using a location based wifi manager to turn it off when traveling makes sense. But when at a location, even on battery, is it best to just leave the wifi on constantly or would toggling with screen off save more energy?
Toggling it would increase battery life.

Does anyone know of any app that keeps wifi running while your phone is idle. its really annoying when im trying to download an app and the wifi will go to sleep

Do you have the option to "Keep WiFi on during sleep" set to always in the WiFi settings?
Will toggling Wi-Fi on and off drain your battery? I'm asking this because I read:

Essentially, you want your Wi-Fi sleep policy to be "Never" because when the Wi-Fi sleep policy is "Always," your phone searches for Wi-Fi more often and that drains battery (I think that's what it is saying).
At the moment, I toggle the W-Fi on every time I'm using it and off as soon as I'm done using it in an attempt to save battery. I'm not sure if this actually works or it's actually draining my battery because it would search for Wi-Fi every time I toggle it on.
On my Samsung Galaxy S4, I can't find Wi-Fi sleep policy as mentioned in the article, but I found "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep." Am I supposed to set this setting as "Always" to save battery life?

I toggle Air View and Smart Gestures on a frequent basis as well--not sure if I should do that too.

Saves battery by sacrificing Wifi performance. I always turn it off so my Wifi runs at peak performance. Your Wifi will likely transfer slower with this on.

If it works like the other "wifi optimization" settings on other phones, it just doesn't keep an active connection when the screen goes off. It then periodically makes a connection and checks if anything new needs received, causing delays in notifications.
Ive got that same setting on my lg volt and noticed that when it's checked i sometimes have exchange authentication problems with the default lg email app... but only on wifi.
What the title says. When my WiFi is off, my batter you does not move when idle or active. When WiFi is on my battery dies really fast
Have you disabled Wifi Always Allow Scanning under Advanced Settings?
