As for many of you having troubles with "shift" key not working. Touch the text input window and hold your finger on it until a menu appears, chose input methods, choose android keyboard and NOT the HTC one I don't know why but "shift" key will work again!
As I got a lot of requests regarding different hardware keyboards I'll like to start a thread in order I can build you guys custom keyboard layouts for your froyo or gigglebread roms. My goal is it to have all languages sooner or later updated and organized in this thread.
I need to the following from you guys so we can make the hardware keyboard work.
your qwerty.kcm.bin and your qwerty.kl from your old Sony Ericsson Firmware (/system/usr/) i need the entire folder with keyboard-config, keyboard-chars etc..
List your buttons and which button should have which character on blue/sym button and if you need capital letters as well which key should appear on blue/sym and shift button press
List you special signs, like underscore, plus, minus, etc .. even if you need a key frequently which is not on the default keyboard layout from sony we can still place it on a different button suitable for you
and last but not least any special requests, like numbers or so in the wrong place.
If you want to have an exact copy of your hardware keyboard as it is on your device (like the blue letters and number) please post a picture
As for many of you having troubles with "shift" key not working. Touch the text input window and hold you finger on it until a menu appears, choose android keyboard and NOT the HTC one I don't know why but "shift" key will work again!
I'll place all the keyboards in the second post for you once they are finished.

hi, i just want the original x10 mini pro Portuguese From Portugal(PT-PT) thanks
well as i do not speak pourtuguese do you have the original qwety.kcm.bin or something like that? or button mapping? thanks! (its in the list in 1 thread what i need)
you know what would be best just post a picture of your hardware keyboard. and i'll make the files for you
slade 87.
Good stuff man.
its guys like you who makes XDA what it is.
keep up the good work
Good thread, . I have one suggestion thought, I suggest you move all the keyboard layout submitted to the first post with thanks to the finder/inventor. That way people will easily find what they need.
yes of course i'll give the credit to the people who found it. Once there is more keyboard i'll start using external links, so we can divide languages from each other and also make it easier to give credit.
how do you get the qwerty.kcm.bin and qwerty.kl files? do u need to use root explorer or what? im new at this, sorry
hey, is it possible to put in german keyboard the old function from the sym/aü button. so if u press this button u will open the window, with smilies and special symbols?

I wonder the same about my Norwegian phone...
When I click the Sym button, it happends the same as on the blue button ...
It should be smileys and stuff there like , :-( , , , :O etc...
Thanks!
slade87 you got permission to post my files from cm topics here
i will delete the links from my post and i will link to this posted i think this is more up to date them mine are
as of now i don't think this is possible but we can map new letters to buttons so for example old german layout was:
sym button + o would make an "ö"
now i did the following blue/sym button + o makes "ö"
but not with touch input but with the hardware keyboard. so the most frequent letters we can reasign to a combo of blue/sym button and work with that.
owain thanks I'll update this thread day by day and slowly merge your existing keyboards into this thread. I will upload new version to mediafire as well and keep your old links if thats ok with you.
the why im asking that is, in connectbot for example i must use > or < but i cant find these symbols on the keyboard, coz these were under the menu witch opend with sym/aö ;>
check first post i got it working with the se menu!

what you preffer?
the qwerty.kcm...? or the picture?
if you preffer the qwerty.kcm... please tell me how to get that for you...(im new in this android scene.. i preffer symbian s60 v5 modding)
i just need the keyboard becouz im my language(Portuguese from portugal) we have "Ç" and we use ´, `, ~ and ^ in some letters like "é"(is) in "Não"(this = no) and in "A" in some cases "à" or "á" and i need the < and > for my smiles :b
please check the first post and follow the instructions of the sonyerricon.zip (first link) you should have all your keys back.
okay with the sonyericsson.zip i got the symbols back on sym/äo but it seems instable with the sms/mms programm of cm6 3.2.1 coz i get forced closes Oo
did you reselect the language?
i don't know if it helps you but use xrecovery and download one of the other posted keyboard layouts, install it and then try it again. after i did this i had no more force closes. but in rare occassions the symbol menu did not work (touch did not respond) but it didnt force close i could still write my text just couldn't select an icon (and could get the menu away with pushing sym button again).
uey, i tried it with the french one, at the beginning no sym/aö symbole table, but than i hold the finger on the input and switch from standartinput to Androidinput, closed and do it again but now back to Standart input and it works. strange things are goin on here ;>
thnx for ur help and work
i am glad it worked!
I updated the link on the first post. this should work now without luzifers work around.

Chinese or Japanese keyboard and Input disabled in TNT lite 4.4, please help
Hi;
Rooted G tablet with TNT 4.4, love it. Thak you so much for the great work !!! The only issue I have now is that both Chinese / Japanese IME or Keyboard do not work. Some one on XDA advised to move apk to system / app, I follow that direction, reboot the tablet, long press on the text input box, but I still not able to select either Google Pinyin (for Chinese) or Japanese keyboard. Please help. Thx
No it does support any input. I have Google chinese ime on my g tab tnt lite. You need to copy the APk into the system app folder just like you do for other input methods.
Here, prove of concept : 华文

Funny works for me...as I have just demonstrated in previous post...
Did you actually install the ime before you copy it over?
Sent from my GTablet-TnT-Lite using Tapatalk
I found the Google chinese ime and click install (didn't know how to just download it instead). I couldn't see where it was download or installed to (using Root Explorer) when I tried to copy that to system app folder. Therefore 'check box' was disabled. Please give more detail and thanks ......
It may be in /data/app folder
Erm. Steps:
1) visit market, download app
2) go to root explorer
3) look for /data/app/"apk name"
4) long press and select copy
5) go back till you reach root folder
6) click "mount r/w" at the top
7) navigate to /system/app
8) click paste at the bottom
9) head back to root and press "mount r/o" at the top
10) reboot tablet
Btw I am now using baidu. They do hand writing recognition, works great.

[Q] Want to type Chinese in my NT

Get Google Pinyin from the market. Use Anycut to to access keyboard settings. Check box for Google Pinyin and click on Google Pinyin settings to make changes to the layout. Make sure you register your NT with the Android keyboard first.
It's a good news for me, too.
Apparently google pinyin wont work on thwlle stock keyboard? Just tried but to but to no avail..

Tried to enable google pinyin but it was never an option.. in the end i hacked the keyboard into hackers keyboard instead. Anyone can help with the chinese input?

Please read #8 below...
Here are some stuff you have to prepare. You have to google them:
1) Rooted
2) root explorer
3) modded DroidSansFallback font - wqy-microhei.ttc (rename it to DroidSansFallback.ttf)
4) Keyboard Hack
5) Cedime chinese input method
6) AnyCut
Steps:
1) root the NT to enable overwrite system files.
2) use root explorer to overwrite /system/font/DroidSansFallback.ttf with the modded one
The following steps I cannot remembered clearly
3) use AnyCut to create a shortcut for Keyboard setting.
4) enable the Keyboard Debug mode to allow Keyboard Hack
5) go to somewhere that shows the keyboard. Long press the virtual dot button and prompted to the input method option.
6) switch to Cedime

This link is the original link teach you how to installing alternative keyboards:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360036
Sorry I make mistakes. Since my NT crashed yesterday and I have to re-install all the things. I make it more clear:
Font:
- DroidSansFallback.ttf is download from Terewong's blog. You may google "terewong droidsans" to download it. The original one has no problems but it did not cover all special characters.
- Use root explorer to copy DroidSansFallback.ttf to /system/font/ . It is a system directory. You have to mount as R/W before you place the file.
Shortcuts and Enable Debug options:
- Open Anycut, Create a New Shortcut -> "Activity" -> "Android Keyboard Debug"
- Create another shortcut for "Accessibility"
- Create another another shortcut for "Debug settings"
- Return to your alternate launchers (I chose GoLauncher. the original launcher does not show home screen, therefore you will never reach those shortcuts if you have no alternate launchers)
- Enable Debug mode options in "Android Keyboard Debug" and "Debug settings"
Keyboard:
- Google "cedime android apk". I found ver 2.0.5 in gphonefans.net. You must have the file outside of Android Market since market will install to the system automatically. We are NOT "installing" the keyboard but "COPY".
- Use root explorer to copy cedime.apk to /system/app/ . (it is also a system directory obviously, Mount as R/W)
- modify the file permission of cedime.apk with root explorer. check all read, write, execute boxes. This step is aimed to enable cedime.apk to be found with other programs (that is Accessibility).
- reboot the device so that it will refresh .apk files in /system/app/.
Enable cedime :
- Run the Accessibility shortcut you created earlier. Under input method, select your new keyboard.
You should keep the shortcut "Accessibility". When accidentally you switched to the original keyboard, you could use it to switch back.
I try to post screen captures when I back to home...
Hi Raye, its all working wonderfully fine now! had a bit of hiccup with frequent fc though. 谢谢你!
What I did was the following:
- install cedime with Pinyin from android market.
- Reboot
- using root explorer, go to DATA/APP to retrieve the cedime APk.
- copy the apk to system/app while in mount r/w mode.
- set permission to 777.
- reboot
- choose cedime as input in accessibility.
- reboot
- if you experienced fc, copy the apk to your SD card (in sdcard/temp or something)
- install the apk using package installer.
- Delete the apk in system/app.
- Reboot
- should be fine
Results may varied though, but this is what I did.
Thanks again Raye for the great assistance! appreciate it lots!

Hi mate, I think you can search for a Korean IME in the market or the APk online then just follow the steps listed in the threads? I think the installation and all should be similar.

Thanks for the traditional Chinese keyboard; has anyone successfully installed Simplified Chinese IME?
I've tried Google Pinyin, Baidu IME and Sohu IME using the Cedime method described, but all 3 are force-closed immediately after I restart. I've run out of ideas on what to do.
Edit: I've switched to CM7 which took care of this problem.
Following overcrash's instruction, I got google simplified chinese input install. Thanks a lot

Just wonder your chinese input still works after reboot?
I had tried the approach & managed to typed some Chinese text, but sadly after reboot, all Chinese input methods had to be force closed.
Yes, it still works after reboot. In fact, I confirmed it by reboot it again before I started typing this reply.
Good luck
Did you copy the files from:
1. data/app to system/app
2. data/data/lib to system/lib?
Try the Go Keyboard apk, it got both simplified and traditional Chinese input and got handwriting recognition with it.
Make sure you copy the lib files
Folks,
I've had success with Google Pinyin IME. For those dealing with force closes, make sure you copy the lib files as mentioned in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360036
Without that, your keyboard will keep trying to input characters that just aren't there, and hence force-closing (at least that's what I think is going on)

[Q] [QUESTION]Enable Xperia keyboard in CM9

Does anyone know how to enable the OFFICIAL xperia keyboard(WITH GESTURE INPUT) in cm9???
Can't find any thread about this
If anyone knows how PLZ help me!!!!:crying:
by "gesture input" you mean swyping? why don't you try this keyboard: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDEwMiwiY29tLmRhc3VyLnNsaWRlaXQudnQubGl0ZSJd
Already
Yeah Yeah.......
I already tried that............
But I still like the official keyboard anymore.........
So thats why I posted this question for this
If I understood correctly, you need to change the keyboard.
To do that:
Go write something. when the keyboard pops up, draw the notif drawer down and select "select input"
That way you choose which keyboard you use.
Go to minicmsandwich lite by kamarush and download keyboard
and flash that zip
flash this one, xperia s keyboard. layouts, themes etc, loads of extra features over the xperia mdpi one.
i confirm this works with cm9 on my LWW
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27906967&postcount=20
go to settings --> advanced --> keyboard configuration. Select your keyboard and reboot. Than when you are typing scroll the status bar down and "press select keyboard methode". than select "Android-keyboard" instead of "casual-input".

[Q] Android System Dictionary

Is there any way to edit system [not user's] dictionary?? Android keyboard is suggesting me a lot of misspelled words (my lang is pt-br) and those words were never typed by me. An example of this (I don't know why but still I'm giving one) is the word "no" in portuguese: "não". It is giving me "náo". It's not a big difference, but I apreciate that something I typed correctly won't be turned to an error.

instead of editing sytem dictionary why dont you just disable auto-correct option from your stock keyboard..
or you could add those words to your dictionary
for GB rom: Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> User Dictionary
for ICS n above: Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> Touch Input (settings button) -> Personal Dictionary -> Edit personal dictionary
Thanks for the reply, but I want to keep auto correction... I guess I will try to correct the errors I go finding by putting the right word in the user dictionary.
